I can't say anything positive about the place, I mean... it's clean, but the way some of the people at that place act towards costumers is not nice. They don't have a sense of compassion, we the visitors are confused and their negative responses are just not the way people should be treated. There was someone at the time that I went there, who did help me... but it was too late, I'd already had the first impression and that was way more of an impression than what this lady tried to do when I was already tired and frustrated for not getting the right information or direction on what I needed to do to get the service I needed. I hope it was an isolated incident, but the fact that some other lady was not happy the way they communicated with her, tells me otherwise. read more

Quest Diagnostics - Laboratory Testing Near Me - Santa Monica, California

I was a bit apprehensive to visit the Santa Monica location because of the extremely uneven reviews on Yelp, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I went in with no appointment (after having failed to use the extremely badly designed online booking system and the illogical voice menu system), and there was no line in the reception. I was met by a very nice lady, who took care of me right after I had finished signing in. She was very professional and friendly, and I hardly felt a thing. I would definitely recommend this to friends. Looking at some of the awful Yelp reviews, it seems like this location either has very different staff on duty at different times, or they have gotten rid of people who shouldn't have worked there (or in any public facing role) in the first place. read more

Why advertise that you take walk ins? The phlebotomist arrives 10minutes late and takes only appointments, there is only one phlebotomist and maybe 10 people in the waiting room. Zero respect for human beings. read more

Logic does not prevail at this location. The order in which people were served was not based on appointment time or order of entry into the office. It seemed to be haphazard, with preference given to whoever the front desk deemed fit. I watched several folks with later appointments than me go first. Adding to things here, it seemed like Quest was particularly defensive in this location. They assumed I didn't have an appointment and just acted as if I didn't have an appointment. Currently, there's no one else in the office but me, and 3 people hanging out at the front desk. If this experience is any indication of how organized and functional Quest is, then I can see why others have complained. read more

I was returning a specimen and Yesinia told me I had to make an appointment. I explained to her I was told to just come in. She said well we are really busy and you need to make an appointment we are not taking your sample. I ask d for a manager she said there wasn't one in. I ask for the manager number she refused to give it to me said she was calling security. A bother worker gave me the managers number. I'm in pain and very upset spoke with the manager she said no appointment is needed just check in. Yesinia could have said that not make a appointment because none were available. read more

Super clean. Super professional staff. Fast quite a few ahead of me and I was in and out in about 30 minutes as a walk in. Best quest I've ever been too by far. read more

Me and my wife went to this location for our son who is on the spectrum for a blood draw. Literally, the worst experience we ever encountered to get a blood drawn. DO NOT GO TO THIS LAB, UNPROFESSIONAL AND ALWAYS SHORT STAFF. We came here four times and with no fail there is always a problem for each visits. 1st visit, we have to wait for 30 minutes before the receptionist told us that all the test can be done in one sitting for our son and advise us that we can come back when he is on fasting. 2nd visit, we came back with my son on a fasting early in the morning but had to wait for 2 hours because they are overwhelmed and do not know what to do. We are told that the blood work cannot be done on one sitting because my son is too young. Note, this is the same person that told us that they can do all the blood test on one sitting. We showed her the blood works that needs to be done on both visits. Now we have to go back and do another visit as we have been misinformed. 3rd visit, went there and have to wait another 30 minutes but was good visit. 4th visit, was told that we can wait for our turn but after 1 hour of waiting, we still do not have our turn while having our special son who is getting anxious waiting. DO US A FAVOR and please post what you have experienced on this Lab so as to let other people know not to go here anymore. read more

The worst customer service ever. I've scheduled an appointment and .... I was waiting 55 min for appointment, because they just forgot about me !!! When I was trying to remind about myself they told me they are too busy !!! They were too busy laughing and discussing something on reception! And no apologies ... I would never ever go to this terrible laboratory again! read more

Management overbooks -- running about 2 hours behind schedule! The excuse--we're in a pandemic--is a bit hollow more than a year into it! They have one flabotomist and book patients every 15 minutes. The poor employees have to face the justifiably pissed off patients. read more

Be careful when dealing with Quest. Get your Doctor to tell you what the costs are in advance. I went to a Doctor and got a blood test and a $800 bill from Quest. I was expecting $300. If you do not have insurance you should ask your Doctor the cost in advance. Wouldnt you love to have a business where you can charge anything you like to a customer and the customer has no idea. Dealing with billing is like dealing with Mobster, I actually had a woman yelling at me on the phone when I asked to see a written confirmation that I agreed to such charges. I wasn't yelling. I will make sure this company never performs a test for me again. Check out there financials, they made billions...really. On not that much revenue, very high profit margins. read more

Over an hour of wait despite making an appointment. During Covid they should do better and not overbook to have too many people in the waiting room. I will not go there again! read more

I went there to pick up a stool sample kit and they said I have to wait til they do all the appointments...so even though I was just there to pick up, they wanted me to wait in line with all the appointments and sign in. I would have had to wait for them to finish 3-5 appointments just to pick up a kit. And the last time I was there they had no idea who I was and to check with my doctor. My doctor said the info they needed was there. I'm sure if I waited for that kit, they probably wouldn't know who I was. read more

Tia was happy, helpful, and so very sweet. I was in and out without an appointment in 20 minutes or less. She was awesome! read more

Stay away! I took my son to this lab today and in addition to being very crowded, there were no protocols in place to keep people 6 feet apart or to have their masks pulled up. I did not feel safe there. When I went there in November they were being very careful about how many people were coming in and checking temperatures. When I asked the technician if it was always so crowded, she asked my what I was worried about because I had a mask on. She continued on to say that people were not dying from Covid but that they were dying from going to the hospital. That is not someone I want managing my testing lab during a pandemic! read more

the worst place for getting your results. Their phone system keeps playing the same message. You can not talk and ask for your results. After 15 days I am still not capable to get my results from these people. read more

I'm giving this Quest location one star because of the lack of Covid precautions. Although chairs were located six feet apart, people were standing and waiting between the chairs as well as lining up right next to each other. Others were waiting out in the hallway. There was no attempt to enforce appropriate distance or number of people in the waiting room. This carelessness differed from every other doctor's office or clinical lab I've been to recently. There was also a 30 minute wait even with an appointment because someone had gotten stuck in the bathroom when the knob came off, and the staff got very backed up. read more

Front desk woman in the Santa Monica office is like the worst DMV stereotype you can imagine. Rude. Bureaucratic. Mean. No smiles. I went in to simply drop something off and had to wait over 30 minutes. Let's hope their diagnostic skills aren't modeled after their customer service. read more

Gloria was fantastic and very professional. Thanks for all your help Gloria. No wait and very gentle drawing my blood. Very clean

Gloria is great. She is doing it all. A very seamless operation. I appreciate a good phlebotomist!

Not good parking options. They don't validate. "2 min wait" for a walk in has now turned into 20. So much for automation. Next time I'll use Labcorp. read more

My first experience when they Drew blood was great. Nice guy and painless. But now I have to drop off a sample and I've already been waiting 30 minutes!! All I have to do is drop off a sample already sealed, dated, named, birthrate, etc. I had to freeze my sample too. And the staff is processing new clients and won't let us drop off. We have to sign in ,sit, wait .... horrible customer service!!! The staff had such an attitude with us making us wait and threatening to force us outside. He refused to help the guy in front of me!! And of course I'm still waiting!! read more

Here's what you have to do here to make it a smooth visit: 1) Schedule an appointment online. If you walk-in, expect to wait at least 45 minutes, sometimes longer... And yes, appointments go ahead of walk-ins no matter how long they have been waiting. 2) Have your paperwork ready. These ladies see 100's of people each month so they will not remember you. 3) RELAX! I am scared of needles, I always have been... But the two ladies who work here were born to take blood. Honestly, I think they have cured my phobia. Today I wasn't even aware the needle had gone in... THATS how good they are! In all seriousness, heed the above advice, be pleasant and everything will go super smooth! read more

Gloria drew blood-she was great! No one was in waiting room when I came and I was taken right away. A machine checks u in. 1 of the tests from my dr was not available at this Quest and I should have been notified by Quest before the appointment! Also the toilet seat in the bathroom was barely useable because it was partially broken and should have been fixed immediatedly because a person without co-ordination or with disabilities could have been hurt, and because it should not be broken. read more

Only see Brian Myles. I repeat, only see Brian Myles. For the past 2 years I've been traumatically stuck by the incompetent morons at the Century City Quest. I even told them not to stick me the 2nd time if they weren't totally confident they could get blood. I would leave their facility faint from all the stress. Then I got on Yelp and read about Brian. He's amazing. Quick, confident, gentle fingers. Never ever going to anyone else. The perfect person to handle anyone afraid of needles. read more

Thank you, Daisy, for doing a great job at drawing my blood for the allergy tests. You were so sweet, too! The only downside to my visit-- the receptionist wouldn't talk to my insurance company to see what was covered/how much I would have to pay out of pocket. Not even an estimate? :-/ read more

First time at this location, I am extremely satisfied. The front desk lady is very friendly, the technician Sky is very kind, warm, most importantly she is very very confident and precise with what she does. Will continue to come here! You are the best Sky! read more

I used to be scared to death of needles, but after I was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder in college, I was sent for blood work all the time. Now I'm used to it. In addition, I know when someone has a good or horrible touch when it comes to drawing blood. Each nurse has been friendly efficient with the blood drawing process, and I've never had a painful experience here. The office staff at this location are polite and organized. I haven't bothered to make an appointment for my blood work at this location, and even so, I've never waited more than 10 minutes. Like Lori K. said, this office has a great view of the city. It was raining this weekend, which further contributed to the view being so incredibly clear on my visit today. It was a welcome distraction from watching my blood fill up a test tube. Street parking in the area can be a bit of a pain, and they ticket like mad, so park in a paid lot if you have to. read more

I had yet another nice experience at this Santa Monica Lab. Kathy was very kind to me when I needed to "cool my heels" while waiting for Mother nature to inspire me for a urine test. Today I came to take some of my blood for performing lab tests. I read all the negative reviews below and checked other Quest locations,so I didn't expect much from this place. I came at 11:15AM and did a check in. It took about 1 hour to get to the nurse but they have there a convenient tv screen where you can see how much time left to get inside for you. I had my book with me so it was not a problem to wait since I just walked in. I don't have insurance so paid upfront for the test through personal lab web-site (they have better prices then Quest themselves). So at 12:15 I was called. My nurse name was Judith, she seemed nice and knowledgeable person. The procedure was painless and fast. I do recommend this place. Don't pay attention on negative reviews since this place perform 70!!! Blood drawn tests per day. Will come back here if needed! read more

Not the greatest, but also not the worst. Came here as a walk-in to get blood drawn since it's absolutely impossible to make a morning appointment unless you want to wait what seems like 6 months or so. There were about 5 people waiting before me and they said it's about 15-20 minutes per person (which is very helpful to know if you're in a rush or need to add more time to the meter). I waited about an hour which if you do the math is pretty good. Come here armed with patience and a fully charged phone, you'll need it. read more

In the past I've gone out of my way to go to this location, but after today I'm completely done with them. This is the second time I've gone in with electronic lab orders submitted by my doctor only for them to claim they don't have them in the system--and today, I got to find that out after over an hour of waiting. Then I called my doctor's office, who faxed it over, yet they claimed they didn't have the orders, so my doctor had to fax it again. And then after all of this I had to walk out without even getting my blood drawn because they were insisting on drawing it from my hand. The good employees here seem to have all moved on, which is very unfortunate. read more

First time at this Santa Monica Lab and I loved it. I did a little yelp research before I decided to come here this morning and sure I am happy I did! The facility is very clean and the staff is very nice and helpful, but my hero is Brian Myles! Everywhere always has a hard time drawing blood from me , they always say I have bad veins .. none of this happened this morning. Brian did a wonderful job and made pleasant conversation with me so that I would not think about it. I sure hope his supervisors or Quest Lab corporate office give him the kudos that he deserves. What a great experience, thank you Brian and thank you Quest Lab for hiring such a competent and caring human being. read more

I scheduled an appt for 9 am . The lab had too many people in the waiting room to be able to provide safe social distancing. While they had a sign outside the door that said to wear a mask there were no precautions taken to sanitize the door handles. After signing in on their automated machine... which again did not have a way to sanitize and they did not have hand sanitizer available.. they called me to tell me that I would be given a test at 1:30 with everyone else who was scheduled for the same test (Covid-19 antibody). When I asked if they would be observing safe practices and social distancing when they had everyone in the waiting room who have a concern of being exposed to Covid-19 (or I am assuming that they wouldn't be interested in paying for the test) they said they couldn't assure anything. Stay away from this laboratory. read more

I need to have blood drawn several times a year, and they have always done a great job. However, I agree with other reviewers about dropping off a sample. I had to drop off a lovely stool sample, and I literally lost my s*it, when I was not allowed to just drop it off. I had to come back, and I apologized to the lab worker, telling him sorry that I was so anal, I just wanted to drop off my s*it. I also had to pay a $27 processing fee. That's some expensive s*it!!!! read more

This place is kind of a sh#* show. When I arrived I signed in and the screen said 19 mins. Great. But 45 mins later, it still said 19 mins. There were 3 people waiting - that's it. Then I get up to the counter after waiting 45 mins and they tell me I need to have the order printed not digital. But their email is broken, they have no WiFi and they want me to figure out a way to fax from my phone. I have to run to renew my parking. I wish they would have told me about this when I walked in, I could have used my 45 mins to figure this all out instead of staring at the wall. The woman was super unhelpful and rude the entire time. Everything is "out of her control". After all that, I finally download a faxing app on my iPhone and send it to them. After I walk back, a 2nd tech in the exam room asks to see the document on my phone because the fax I was just forced to send from my phone isn't clear. I just have to laugh. She enters all the data just straight from my original digital copy and doesn't even use the fax after all that hassle. The facility is clean. Parking on the street is easy. But the service is super slow and difficult. So it's up to you if you feel like you can put up with it or not. Blood draw was great and easy once I got in. I can see why there are mixed reviews. Maybe this disorganization doesn't bother people and they are just rating the blood draws. In that case they do a great job. But getting back to that exam room is a freakin journey. Good luck! read more
