I arrived to my appointment for 1530 at 1535 due to pregnancy complications on the way to my appointment. This is well within their 10 min grace period. I started check in on the kiosk and their machine was being incredibly slow. When it was finally done loading it was 1540 and it cancelled my appointment because I was out of the grace period, I really don't think I should be punished for their machine being slow. Anyways I just put myself on the waitlist. I had to use the restroom because, pregnancy, and not even just a few steps out the door to use the restroom when they closed and locked the door behind me. 20 min before closing. I sat there and knocked on the door for those 20 min and meanwhile I could hear them talking and walking behind the door (they could hear me) they did nothing and I eventually gave up and left. Terri is what makes this place magical! She is the friendliest technician I have ever met at any medical facility and just about any business out there in my 34 years of living. She was so friendly, kind, chatty, witty, and overall made my quick trip for some medical blood work a joy. She literally made my day and I hope her character can spread to all the others she encounters on a daily basis. The facility is clean and friendly inside. If you're coming from the front door, head towards the little cafeteria and the door is on the right. A little bit easy to miss. Fill out your info at the little electronic kiosk and have a seat. I am not discrediting anyone's lousy experience reflected in 1 star reviews. I was, however, not going to let their experience stop me from coming back here to do my pre-surgery lab work. I am notorious for having surgery out of the Kaiser network. Especially plastic surgery. This means I pay for my surgery, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals out of pocket. Quest has been my go-to for blood work. I find it easy to make an appointment online, park my car for free, have my blood work done, pay, and leave. Everyone I interacted with during this visit was friendly and professional. My experience was positive. I will continue using this lab for my out of network surgeries. I hope Quest uses my review as a counter-balance to the many unhappy 1 star reviews and work on consistency. They clearly have the ability to provide great service. Now get consistent. I'm sure it is as frustrating for the folks who are displeased with their visit as it is for the people who work for Quest to read how they've dropped the ball and come up short. Yelp is a great tool for this. Improvement and consistency. Good luck! Note: they are now on the 3rd floor and they NO LONGER OFFER drug screening. The staff turned down an 89 year old hypoglycemic person because the Dr. office did not send the paperwork as "STAT" ( whatever that means). The Dr office had told the patient they sent the paperwork with priority. Blood draw had to be done early AM since this patient experiences hypoglycemic events only early AM. Never use this facility. If you show up as a drop in (which is often your only choice because appointments are so difficult to make, often several weeks) prepared to wait two hours, and they close despite you already waiting hours. Do not come here. Ask your doctor to use a different company. Avoid Quest, esp. this Daly City location. Again, ask your doctor to use a company other than quest if you value your time. Quest does not give a damn because they think they are the only game in town and doctors are too lazy to switch companies. Quest will only employ a single phlebotomist despite a busy location. Everything about this place is an epic fail. The test I have been trying to get done for FOUR MONTHS requires that I be fasted and take a break from my medications for a couple of days, so I need to plan ahead to fit it into my schedule. I am now on my fifth attempt to try to get this routine test done. You often need to book morning appointments weeks in advance, which I have done several times and each time there is a problem that has prevented me from getting my labs drawn. *The building is so cold that *_twice_* the bloodflow was so restricted to my arms that they could not draw a sample. I try waiting in my car with the heat blasting, but it takes so long for them to see you after getting the text that it's your turn, that I'm frozen again by the time I hit the chair. *Another time they failed to call me when it was my turn, and they sent me to the back of the line *_three times_*. On the third time I'd been there for almost an hour and was already late for work, so I just left. *I tried coming as a walk-in because there were no morning appointments available for several weeks. On other trips I'd noticed walk-ins being seen and figured I'd just have to wait a bit longer. I bundled up and headed over, but this time the kiosk told me I couldn't be seen for 6 hours. There is no one at the front desk, so there is nobody to talk to if you're having an issue. The techs only poke their heads out of the lab door to shout a name, so there is no one to grab on their way from here to there. I've also had issues with payment and other basic administrative tasks that the techs couldn't competently navigate. I'm embarrassed to ask my doctor to send the orders to another lab, because who would believe that so many things could go wrong at one facility? But I will never, ever ask my doctor to send my lab orders to Quest again. read more

Drug test must be done before 2 PM, the usual waiting time for walk in is like 3 or more hours. Tough luck if they haven't collected your spacemen by then, it's your FAULT for not making an appointment. Ohhh the online appointment schedule is like fully booked for 3-4 weeks in advance, the staffs that refused to even look at you phone regarding the no appointment availability. You are just better off going to somewhere then put up with staff that don't give A DAM about you. I wished ALL OF YOU BE FIRED. Was 10 min late with my son who was fasting for a test. 10 min late and they cancelled his appointment. Phlebotomist was *rude*, and told him he could be on the wait list if desired. I lost my temper since my son told me the others in the wait room were saying good luck, gonna be here hours if you join the wait list. I (admittedly barked at her and pulled my mask off) but asked for a manager and she said OK. Another phlebotomist comes out later and I again ask for a manager. She says there is none on site. So I get a phone number. Called it three times, no answer. No callback so far. So the first person told me she was getting the manager when she knew full well there was not even one on site. I may have done the same with a pissed off customer. I will own that. Nobody at the counter. Rude phlebotomist (made me lose my temper). Cancelling appt when 10min late. No management. I had originally asked my wife to skip Quest because I have had bad experiences, such as my last where a phlebotomist went through my arm vein then went hunting for it. Got a big vein and never had that happen at other labs. I would saw badly managed lab, but there is no apparent management of it. read more

Not only is it impossible to make an appointment to get a URINE test for new employment (which is required within 24' of initiation of a background check) but I have been waiting for over 90 min now. I could literally take a labeled sample cup and give it to them but no. The only urine drug screen time is 11-2pm by the way, and even though I got here well before 11 I'm honestly not sure I will actually make it. It's beyond frustrating. Again, do not come here. So my dealing with Quest has been quite an experience. First off, I had to make an appointment through the app although I really wanted to speak with someone since I had some questions. I needed to know if they accepted my insurance. The number rolled me over to a call center who took all my info over the phone and it depends on the location if my insurance is accepted. End result was they told me to make appt through the app. That wasn't too hard except that fact that I had to enter all my info into the app again even though I registered with the person on the phone. Friday was my appt day at340pm. The Filipino gentleman that helped me was super nice and helpful. He told me I didn't need an appt and handed me a jar. He said to fill it and bring it back tomorrow and I didn't need an appt. I wish I knew this from the start. I did that and when back the next morning at 7am. Diamonds was what she told me her name was. She was awesome!!! So friendly and helpful. I was in and out in less than 15 mins. read more

Came here to drop off a urine specimen for my elderly parents; I didn't know that you had to register to drop off anything, that was fine, however, you must still wait to get the specimen dropped off? It is not just a touch and go and you're out, you still needed to wait a good old 30 minutes for them to take the specimen. I came during my lunch break to do it and unfortunately I had to leave with my parents urine sample with me as I don't have the luxury of time to wait just for me to drop off something. It was my first time here. No one was at the front desk to help me so it took me some time to figure out I had to sign myself in. After checking myself in, it wasn't long until I was called to the back to have my blood drawn. I get blood work done regularly so I know which vein to tell phlebotomists to use (as phlebotomists in the past have told me to show future phlebotomists the "best vein"). Anyhoo, the phlebotomist is about the begin the blood draw but I see she brings out the straight (maybe 14 g) needle. I asked her "Why not the butterfly needle?" as that's what all phlebotomists use on me. The only time in the past a phlebotomist used a straight needle, he kept missing my vein and kept poking and prodding me until he had to give up and use a butterfly needle. Anyways, long story short, the phlebotomist missed my vein and after moving he needle around in me (which is pretty painful), she gave up and used the butterfly needle. Guess what? She was then able to draw my blood! Wish she would have just listened to me the first time. We could've skipped the painful part. read more

Some of the rudest staff. I work in the field and refer people to this place and was shocked when I came in as a patient and was treated so poorly. Will definitely refer patients to labcorp in the future. Upon check in they would not answer any questions or let me update my insurance information until I was called for the actual blood draw which obviously hinders the flow for everyone when the update has to be done at that time. Had many bad experiences here and a few good ones when a good nurse is there who can draw my blood in one shot. Most of the time, I warn the nurse who is going to draw blood that I have thin veins and that my blood flows slow. I know that drinking water will help but it doesn't for me. The most recent occurrence led me to having a really bad bruise and I've just about had it with the inexperienced nurses here. They only needed 2 tubes of blood. I was stabbed in 3 separate areas with 1 resulting a bruise even though I told him that you won't find much blood there on my forearm. Still he went in anyway. Oh the ignorance and arrogance of these nurses. If you are someone who have thin veins like me, consider elsewhere where the nurses listen to you and are careful of their selection of the drawing site. read more

All we needed was a simple blood draw, there was 1 person ahead of us n we waited over an hr to b seen. The lady at the front desk really is incompetent n definitely unable to multi task let alone finish any task. I told her my daughter's doc sent the papers over electronically n that we should b in the system but she had an intern search thru multiple files before she checked the computer. Then we were sent into a room to wait another 20 min before they drew her blood. During that time they put a warm compress on her arm to help the blood flow during the draw but took the blood from the opposite arm. This place is completely unorganized. I originally tried to call about a test I needed, but I was not able to get through to an actual person. Instead, I listened to a needlessly verbose phone tree and when I pressed '6' to talk to an actual person I was met with a "invalid selection" response, from the very phone system that told me to press that key to talk to a real human being. I decided to just wing it and drove there, only to find that there isn't even a person that sits at a front desk, no instead of having someone useful there they had two kiosks where I could sign in and wait, oh boy, and wait I did. I waited nearly 80 minutes by the time my number was called, despite the doctor telling me the sample needed to be delivered within 30 minutes of it being made (so it's already gone bad.) I then found out the test I needed to have done isn't even a test they do! Despite me picking up the container I needed to put the sample in a few days earlier, and telling them the reason why I needed the test done. I even saw my request listed in their computer system with my own eyes, and no one mentioned that it wasn't a test they do! All-in-all I wasted over 2 hours of my day for something they couldn't do. All of this would have been avoided if 1.) their phone system worked, 2.) if they had actual people to talk with instead of tapping a kiosk, like those somehow replace medical professional, 3.) The person I picked up the container for the sample had said that testing wasn't available through them at the time. 4.) Actually taking samples from people quickly. Waiting 80 minutes to drop off anything is just crazy. I've had to drop samples off at other medical facilities in the past and it had always been an "in and out" kind of situation. All of this would have been avoided had there been someone to actually talk to last week about my requirements when I had tried to call, when I arrived or when I actually talked to a technician, none of which happened. Quest failed. What a waste of time. I'll gladly pay extra money in the future to avoid this company.This place is located in a legit, Sutter medical facility and this is how it's run? What an absolute joke. Get your act together. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. This organization isn't responsible enough to manage a waiting room, let alone peoples' medical tests. read more

Complete 180 this time around. 8:15am appointment, arrived at 7:50am. My name was called for paperwork at 8:05am. I was done and out the door at 8:15. They've completely remodeled the 1st floor office and it's now open. Very clean and plenty of lighting. The waiting room is very large as well. I usually go to UCSF to get my labs done. But this time, I went to Quest as it was closer to my house (less than 3 miles) since I had to fast before my blood work. The waiting and check in process was smooth. Then it went down hill after I met Quennie, their phlebotomist. I told her that I wanted the blood draw to be done on my left arm. She poked around and said "oh your vein goes sideway". I thought to myself "hmmm...that's not the only vein I have but ok". Then, she poked me using a large gauge needle (probably 16 or 18) and got a vial of blood, but I think she pulled out unintentionally because I started noticing blood dripping from my arm. Then she tried to insert the needle a bit further and got more blood in the vial but then it stopped flowing. She had to pull the needle out. I asked her to use a butterfly needle and she said "oh those are usually used on kids". WTF, for real? I've had labs done so frequently and can tell you that other places, including Quest, use butterfly needles. As she was searching for my vein, she said "oh your left side was better". No kidding. Why do you think I told you to draw blood on my left? She ended up wasting the 1.5 vials that she got from my left. Whatever you do, if you go to Quest, make sure you stay away from Quennie! read more

I've been to several labs and this is by far the best lab I've been to. I refuse to go anywhere else. I'm kind of considered a hard stick, and the phlebotomists here can always find my vein in one go. I do have my favorites so they will usually accommodate my request. This place can get rather busy, but as long as you have an appointment you should be in and out fairly quickly. They try their best in seeing the patients as quickly as possible. Unfortunately they get a lot of walk ins, and the line can get backed up. Get that appointment! Staff has been great. read more

I bring my mom in every couple months for a blood draw and only once has a tech been able to draw her blood with in 15 minutes. Her veins are hard to draw but techs should be trained to draw veins that are not perfect. This past weekend it took an hour to draw 7 tubes of blood and the techs were blaming my mom for the issues. I understand it is difficult to draw her blood but you should not be blaming the patient for not being able to draw their blood. She knows what the techs should use in order to get a good draw and previous times a tech even told her I know how to draw blood when my mom let her know that certain needles work best with her draws. I find it really rude to blame patients for the issues with the blood draw and give attitude when a patients tells you what works best with their body. read more

Type of care. Disgusting terrible. Horrible. No consideration. My daughter had just got done her blood test at 7:10 am. On Saturday October 7th. The nurse told her for the stool specimen. We quickly ran home . We take public transportation. We live about 15 min away from 901 campus drive Quest Diagnostic. The philippino nurse just gave her a tube. She asked for the tray and jar. Philippino nurse told her you don't need it. Just pick it with a stick and put it in the tube. Now don't you think that is a health hazard. I had a container at home. So I packed the container with a lot of ice. It wasn't a big container. We were at quest Diagnostic by 8:45-8:50 am. As soon as I saw the nurse I told her I have it here the stool sample. It was very hot that day. 92 degrees temperature. Kept asking them to help us out. No ma'am you have to wait. Now its 2 hrs already. Ice melted because of the heat. Please begging them told them she just had her blood test done this morning nurse told her to bring the stool sample. No we don't care. You have to wait. Now it's 3 hours waiting. The tube started getting warm . Heat was really bad. Bowl started smelling. Was very embarrassed. The nurses white male asked please help me take care of the sample. Sorry can't help you. Can I just leave it on the counter. No wait. Nothing wr can do about. I was in tears. Maybe because of my skin color.i was treated that. And my daughter is on medical insurance. She is 100 % covered. She is on remission. Fraud people sent a very high bill when they didn't take care of us. Bowl started smelling bad. I had throw the tube in the garbage. Had to run before any will say anything about the stool smell. Maybe CDC should get on their case a very Nasty terrible horrible treatment we got from them. Yes, technology and self-serving kiosks are great...but you have to remember...you serve patients that are mostly geriatric. Some are too old to use the kiosk. The worst thing about this branch? They have 4 people doing blood draws, and not one person at the front desk for anyone to ask questions to or need assisting from. I have watch patients over 80 circling the waiting area. I ended up queueing all these elderly patients to check in! And I'm a patient needing my blood work up!!! Why???!? Because there's not a god damn worker at the front desk to help elderly people checking in. Tell me why a patient needs to help you all out?!?! While you take your sweet ass time in the back? Mind you, this madness and chaos started at 7AM. Not ONE TECH IN SITE. I have to come back to this god forsaken place in a few hours because, again, no one was at the front desk could help me with my dilemma. This place is conveniently located on the first floor on the right hand side. It is located between the restrooms and Mo'z Cafe Express. It was recently remodeled and looks more welcoming than before. The front desk has been moved closer to the entrance and has 2 iPads that you "register". Use the iPad to check in whether you have an appointment or not. There is a television screen that shows how many people have "checked in" and whether they have an appointment. This is useful to know when you will be called up to show your paperwork and insurance. I made an appointment for 9:45am on 3/14/2017. Because of an earlier errand I had, I ended up at Quest around 8:50am. I checked in on the iPad and sat down. The front desk calls you according to your appointment time/the list of check ins on the tv screen. I sat around until about 9:30am. They called my name and asked for my insurance and took my paperwork. The front desk mistakenly put my last name down as my first AND last name. Uhhh. Anyway, at 10:00am I was called in by the technician and she asked to verify my name. That's where we caught the issue with my name. She was able to fix it and verified everything again to ensure all of my information was correct: First and last name, address, phone number, DOB, and doctor. The tech then drew my blood. She ensured she found the vein a couple of times and inserted the needle. It was painless and fast even though she had taken 5 vials of my blood. She was friendly and extremely polite. Then she verified another time that the info on the vials were correct. I have to give the place 4 stars. It was a good experience overall. Didn't have any issues with the front desk except the name mistake so I deducted 1 star. Front desk was pleasant in my opinion since I'm so used to terrible service in Daly City that it's a "norm". I would definitely come here again to get blood work done. I HIGHLY suggest making an appointment especially if you have to fast (do this through their site). read more

I have to get a test done for a possible thyroid issue, so of course I chose the closest with easiest parking-- big mistake, should've read reviews beforehand, as the 1 stars are all true. Front staff is rude, more than that though, you have a misogynistic WOMAN at the front desk... I stood on the green "wait here" for a few minutes, she saw me but I figured she was doing something so would let her finish then she would acknowledge my presence... she did not, so I had to say "is this the right line..?" She just says "did you sign in?" Like I'm supposed to know exactly what to do first, i said no and proceeded to sign in, with zero help from this woman, not a "if you're having trouble let me know and I can help" nothing, just silence... then I finish signing out & say "...ok, done?" As I still wasn't sure if I had anything else to do, like show her my insurance card. She says "sit down we'll call your name." Oook... A man walks in about 3 mins later, she immediately looks up, greets him with a "hello sir! How can I help you today?" And guided him through the entire process. As more and more women & men walked in I was watching to see her interactions with them, she does not like women at all and wants them to feel inferior to her for some odd reason. Seriously Quest, talk to the white girl with thick brows, & dirty-blonde hair, she HATES WOMEN & treats them like complete trash and like they don't deserve to be in her presence. It was so so so weird, maybe refer her to someone that can help her with her personal problem, but you really shouldn't be employing people who are biased, or treat people differently based on -- GENDER, RACE, RELIGION, or CULTURE. Which is exactly what she does. She discriminates against women. Never coming here again, did not get blood drawn bc of the reviews while waiting almost an hour. With essentially zero activity going on in the back --also, door to blood rooms was wiiide open, ANYONE could look in and see anything. No privacy.
