My experience with Quest Diagnostics has been a mix of frustration and relief, depending on which part of the visit you're in. The check-in process feels cold and impersonal. There is no traditional front desk and no staff member readily available to guide you, which can be confusing, especially if it's your first time or if you're already feeling anxious. You're left to figure things out on your own using the kiosk, and the overall atmosphere in the waiting area feels a bit unwelcoming. That part is definitely a drawback. That said, once you are called in for the actual blood draw, the experience improves dramatically. The phlebotomists are skilled, patient, and professional. I am extremely nervous around needles and have a history of feeling faint, so this is not something I take lightly. The staff here take their time, explain what they are doing, and make sure you are comfortable throughout the process. I have consistently felt like I was in capable hands. They are also very gentle and efficient. I have never experienced bruising here, which has not always been the case elsewhere. Compared to Labcorp, where my husband had a difficult experience with multiple unsuccessful attempts, Quest has been much more reliable. So while the front-end experience could really use improvement, the quality of care during the blood draw itself makes a big difference. Had my first appointment there today for a blood draw. The overall experience was fine, but the check-in process is NOT patient friendly. Let me explain. I have routine labs drawn semi-annually for some particular medication I take. Because of the risks, I must be monitored while taking it. But, this medication is not managed by my normal MD, thus I need to go to Quest. I was going to LabCorp, but my physician's group transferred the service to Quest. The check-in process, if everything goes perfectly, is simple and quick. But, it's done on a kiosk and if there is anything is off, you are screwed because they maintain NO PRESENCE in the front and no one pays attention to the waiting area. At least that is what I observed today. Specifically, while I was waiting, a gentleman was checking in and had a question about what he was seeing on the kiosk. He stood at the front desk for about 10 minutes while everyone in the back ignored him. It wasn't until he stood at the doorway leading to the treatment area that he received help...and that seemed like a struggle for him to get. The kiosk also forces you to take a photo of your identification. I sure hope those kiosks are HIPAA compliant. This is unlike checking in with a live human who can validate your identity without retaining a copy of an ID. Ok, that's the check in and you can see that I didn't like it. The actual blood draw is why they get four stars. The tech was amazing. She was friendly and helpful while being very detail-oriented. She was also exceptionally thorough. Overall, I like them. Needed blood work tried to make an appointment at Quest. But the next available appointment is three weeks out. didn't matter if it was morning or afternoon. I've noticed this for the past three months and I'm not alone. There are several people that are angry about this.Bad business so very sad. Got myself a new doctor earlier this year when my previous doctor suddenly retired. My new doctor told me he has his own lab within Quest Diagnostics to run tests, so I switched from my usual LabCorp spot to this one. For the best experience, be sure to download the Quest App to your phone as you'll definitely need it to make appointments here. Setting up appointments on the app is easy enough, and you can even use the app to check in, though I do use the touch screens at the front desk. The staff are very nice and (to me) amazingly good at drawing blood painlessly! Appointment times are usually pretty punctual, and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes past my scheduled times. Results come back usually within a few days on the app, which is fantastic. I get to see any bad results before my doctor, heh! All-in-all, this Quest location is perfect for me as it's super-close to my house like LabCorp is. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

The staff goes above and beyond to ensure you're comfortable. I tend to get dizzy and lightheaded when getting blood drawn and they always accommodate the flat lie down in the back for me. read more

There is no receptionist in person or anyone on the phone to speak with. Walk-in wait times are absurd. I walked into the lab at 7am and I was the only one in the waiting room. I go to check-in on the kiosk and I could not believe my eyes that it's a 5 hr wait. Basically, there are no more walk-in at Quest. Make an appointment and get ready to not have the time that is convenient for you. I would give 1 star, but they do have an online appointment system, so I need to be fair for having that. I will not be going back to Quest, going to Stanford Health for labs. They are much better. read more

I feel like this is not emphasized enough (by doctors, labs, anyone) and it makes a blood draw way easier. Three stars because there is parking, easy access, and the phlebotomist was great and the blood draw went well. I mean, it would be 5 if just based on the blood draw part. BUT as other reviewers have mentioned, I had to wait for over an hour for the blood draw, even though I had an appointment. And this is just mean when you're fasting! Dang. Something in the waiting room also was making me cough so I had a cough drop and thought nothing of it, but apparently that messes up your fast. So fingers crossed I don't have to go back! Oh god. I thought I had masks in my car but thought wrong. Hopefully it also is not something I will now get sick from. Also, if you can, bring a paper copy of the order from your doctor. They lose track of stuff and you definitely don't want to wait forever, only to be turned away without an order. They don't answer the phone, so it is impossible to confirm in advance whether they got/have it. Bring it! Apparently they were short-staffed today (the phlebotomist told me), but even under the best of circumstances, Quest schedules things so every blood draw is allotted 10 minutes. Lots of things happen that make 10 minutes impossible. Mine went smoothly and I am sure took at least 10 minutes - no margin for error. I blame Quest for this/capitalism, not the people working there, who I am sure also put up with a ton of angry/grumpy people who are starving and have been waiting an hour. Anyway, definitely do not get there 10 minutes early, and make an appointment unless you want to be there all day (literally). People cheered for me when I left - victory is mine! I hope. (((TLDR: Everyone was super professional and kind, get an appointment if you don't want to wait several hours. If you have to do walk in get there when they open or as early as possible.))) Since there are so many negative reviews I wanted to make the effort to communicate my positive experience. I needed to complete a lab test on an emergency basis on a holiday weekend so I arrived before they opened to try to get on the top of the waiting list. I was actually able to snag an 8am appointment slot because of a cancellation. Not only did they see me promptly at 8 am but I felt like everyone was working at maximum capacity and all my interactions were very positive. A lab tech named Diamond was extremely professional and helpful, even helping me by making adjustments to the procedure/schedule to accommodate my disability. When I left around 8:30am there was still quite a long list of patients on standby (approximately half a dozen) but the techs were making the effort to let everyone know they were going to try to get everyone who had come early enough in the day seen before they closed at noon. If you're planning on doing a walk in/stand by visit on a weekend or busy day you will need to get there as early as possible and definitely plan on waiting several hours. It's really only feasible if it's urgent and you don't have the option of making an appointment in a day or two. Otherwise, appointments go very smoothly so absolutely book ahead if at all possible. read more

There is NO customer service, front desk is always empty - self-service only. It took me 3 trips to this Quest location before I was finally able to have simple lab test drawn. Visit 1, the technician could not locate the physicians order, which had been electronically transmitted 2 wks prior. Visit 2 - a 1:20pm appointment pre-scheduled. Waiting room was full and after 20 minutes, a tech came out and told everyone they had employees call out and they were running so far behind that they had no idea when everyone would be seen. Visit 3 - 3:40pm appt. ran like clockwork. Lesson here - schedule late or be prepared to wait! Extremely poor management of this facility. read more

Usually it is very hard to get my veins but Alison had no problem and she used a butterfly needle which I prefer as my veins are pretty small! -10 stars if that were an option. Came here 3 times for blood tests. Left each time butchered up and bruised. The first time, they couldn't find a vein. So the phlebotomist got help and she also couldn't do it. They said my veins are too small and wanted to use a pediatric needle, and I left poked multiple times with eventual bruised arms. And they asked me to come back another time! The second time, the phlebotomist also had a hard time and decided to use a pediatric needle. I thought the first time was a one-off incident. Insane. I also left with a bruise, and not only that, he didn't follow the paperwork and tests were missing, so it delayed my care and required me to return to complete. At this point, I'm traumatized and don't want to come back. I can't believe I'd come back here for a third time, but a nurse for a different doctor told me to ask for an experienced phlebotomist, and that should do the trick. Apparently students in training were the ones poking at me and doing a poor job. So I make the request to the two women phlebotomist, and they honor it. The one supervising took over, and I swore she looked familiar. I also context that the last 2 times were terrible and I left with bruising or had to return due to their incompetence. And same thing for the third round, they need a pediatric needle because they couldn't find a vein! Later that night, I remove the bandage, and lo and behold -- a bruise! I realize then that the more senior phlebotomist was one of the students in training that first time around! And now she's considered senior and TRAINING other people! All of this happened within a span of about a year. They're consistently incompetent and mess up. I've only had this experience here -- never at other labs like Kaiser, Sutter, or Labcorps. I've never been told I've had small veins and need to use a pediatric needle, and I've never been asked to come back because they can't find my vein or because they didn't follow the paperwork until I came to Quest Diagnostics. I only came back because my docs preferred this lab because they get it directly. Avoid avoid avoid avoid!!! At this point, my docs will just have to deal with a different lab because I absolutely do not trust Quest Diagnostics and will never step foot in here ever again. They do more harm to people who need answers about their health. Speaking of which, I decided to use LabCorps after this whole ordeal, and I only had to be poked once with a normal needle and didn't get bruised! So, it's totally Quest Diagnostics. read more

I've been coming to this location for years for all my drug test screening. I never made an appt as I know they take walk-ins and the wait weren't long. Today was the worst experience I've ever had with this location of Quest Diagnostic. I arrived at 8:35am and I checked-in at the kiosk as a walk in and was assigned to the standby list. I was expected to wait as I didn't have an appt. I waited an hour and then was called into the exam room. I was at room 2, the girl who helped me quickly notified me that drug test screening doesn't start at 11am. She pre-registered me into the system and held onto my CA ID and told me to come back at 11am to finish off my drug test screening. Before, I left I asked the girl multiple times if I had to check-in again when I came back at 11am. She acknowledged my question and said "NO" I don't have to check-in at the kiosk and wait again as someone will call my name at 11am. I came back at 10:55am, there was a lot more people in the waiting room. I waited till a staff member to come out. It happened to be the same girl that helped pre-register me so I walked up to and notified her I am here. She quickly reminded the drug test screening technician. My name was never called at 11am. The drug test screening technician walked out with a patient so I decided to ask her. She told me I still had to wait as I was on the standby list and told me that the previous girl gave me wrong information. She said: "Yes, it is correct that the drug test screening start at 11am but you will still have to wait since I didn't have an appt and that I was on the standby list." I told her I've been at Quest since 8:35am and wait an hour to be pre-registered by her coworker and that my CA ID was held but it didn't seem like she care. She rudely replied with " what do you want to do then?" "There's other locations if you don't want to wait." Both female Quest technicians were unprofessional and rude. Please consider re-training all your Quest technicians. I will never come back and don't recommend this location. read more

Absolutely terrible. Made my 93 year old mother in law with dementia wait 90 minutes when she had an appointment and was on time. She was fasting and basically catatonic by the time they called her back. It was an absolute nightmare to get the blood drawn and urine analysis. Traumatic for our family. They had a full waiting room and I only saw one person in the back. It was a disturbing experience. read more

They close at 4pm. If you want to walk in at 3pm, don't waste your time. It may seem like they allowed walk-ins, but the staff will let you wait until 4pm to inform you that they're closed and won't take any more walk-ins regardless of when you checked-in. Unfortunately, the reservation can only be done two weeks+ ahead and no room for potential ad-hoc appointments should someone cancel. Was kept waiting for 40 minutes for a fasting appointment. When I finally got my blood draw, I saw why - the phlebotomists do not know how to draw blood. Not sure what happened to this place as it used to be my place to go to for bloodwork as I need blood work quite often. This is the third time that they don't have butterfly needles. I just don't understand how they don't have them for the elderly patients and the children neither of which I am. Even when you make an appointment, you are left waiting for an hour. Ridiculous. I've been here several times and God forbid you need an appt quick because you have urgent labs you need and have to be on standby. I've be on "standby" for no lie 2hrs and just waiting for someone to fit the 3 of us in standby. What's really annoying is that there's only ONE person checked in for 15 from now and still they have not taken anyone of the 3 stand-bys. I work in healthcare so I know how this works and trust me, I know they're probably understaffed... and busy... which I feel bad about but I've gone to other Quests in this area and they still try to accommodate stand-bys within the hour. Unless you have an appointment (which by the way you need to book 2 days in advance to get a decent opening...), prepare to wait 2-3 hours to get in (if you're #1 on that list). Ironically there were 4 people here just talking about how messed up the system is and they talked to two staff members, who were understanding but also sort of dismissed the gentleman's concerns. Unfortunately we all lose in this. People who have to get an appt last second, people who in general are customers of Quest, and I'm sure the staff who get annoyed of complaints too. The staff here are kind and pleasant (so my frustration isn't truly against them and hence why I had to give them an extra star) but it just sucks that have to bear the beating of a system failure in meeting demands or assessing true wait times. This location is connected to the Campus Surgery Center and had to do a blood draw here do to this. So went to Campus Surgery Center to do initial counseling and do the needed EKG and referral for the blood draw before coming here. After getting a number and waiting a good 10 mins before being called, I waited another 5 mins for the person to get all her needed materials before I was done. Not my 1st blood draw, but just 1st one here. My arm hurt afterward and has a scare from the draw. Only time I ever had anything like this was during blood donations. read more

This location is one of my favorite Quest labs to go to. Check-in is super easy: after scheduling your appointment, you click on the link sent to your email or text message and you can scan the code from your phone to the machine that they have at the front desk. After that, you will see your name on the TV screen at the corner with your anticipated wait time. This feature is very convenient because it tells you how long until you are called which gives you time to do anything you need to do before it is your turn. I came in to get bloodwork done and the phlebotomist was really friendly. I chatted with her about how long she has been a phlebotomist and if she had any advice for me since I am taking a Phlebotomy class this fall. She was very efficient and quick: the needle went in, blood out into the two tubes and then done. read more

First time here at the Quest Lab ad had a horrible experience here. I would never ever come to Quest for any lab. Appointment is unable to schedule online and when call to make appointment was able to schedule for the day that was unable to schedule online when stated no availability. When arrived at the appointment, was the only one in the list, waited for at least 10minutes and not being called because the staffs were too busy chit chatting with the door wide open that I could hear all the conversations as I sat directly in front of that door. When called and told can't be seen because it is only from 11-2pm then had to come back the next day. Came back the next day, was waited for at least one hour. Being called inside and taken the ID and told to wait in the waiting room again and will be called. The tech never called when he had finished with the previous patient. What is wrong with the staffs here? Working so slow and during the time I was walked in, there is no appointment that was scheduled to be seen. All walked in. read more

Accessibility to patient care is pretty horrible here. I took the COVID symptom survey an hour prior to my appointment. It asked me if I experienced a cough within 10 days and I hit "no" and immediately was prompted to a page that said my appointment was cancelled because I had symptoms and would need to reschedule. Ok trying not to get irritated because this seems like an easy enough of a fix. Just call and explain, right? Nope. If you try calling, they make you listen to very long prompts (fine). When you finally get to the option that says "press 6 to speak to a representative", it directs you to a message that says "this is not a valid option". Ok. Hang up, dial again, go through all the long prompts. Find one where if you say you're a healthcare provider press 9 to speak with the office. Ok yay we are getting somewhere! Nope. You press 9 and it prompts you to leave a voicemail for them to call you back but the inbox is full! This is concerning. How is anyone supposed to reach this office, whether it be patient or doctor? I understand they want to streamline and reduce calls but holy crap. Do better. read more
