I had a great experience at Quest on Alameda! Even though I wasn't able to make an appointment due to availability, I came in as a walk-in and was placed on the standby list. Yes, I had to wait a little (as expected), but it was worth it. Rosa, my phlebotomist, was extremely quick, professional, and kind. I'm so thankful for her and the whole Burbank Alameda team--they made the experience smooth and stress-free! Oh, and just a tip--there isn't any front desk staff here. Instead, there are three kiosks where you simply scan your driver's license and upload your insurance. It was extremely easy and made the check-in process very straightforward. read more

If you have an extra hour or two (or four, five or six!) to get a 5-minute blood draw procedure then Quest is the place for you! The wait times are simply UNBELIEVABLE. The people who own Quest must be wildly out of touch to think that this kind of dysfunction is appropriate. Here are a few survival tips: 1. Make an appointment. That way you might only maybe wait 1-2 hours. Yes, seriously. 2. Get up and stretch every half hour or your back will ache like hell. 3. Bring water. Whatever you do, do NOT get up and leave to get water and return in 5 minutes because if inexplicably call your name while you're not in the room, you will lose your place in line and .... they.... do ... not ..... care. 4. Bring snacks or be prepared for your blood sugar to take dive in about hour 3 of the marathon wait. 5. Be nice to the poor, overworked, abused staff who are getting hit from all sides. That is if you actually see them. The "reception" desk is closed and you handle checkin courtesy of some ipad looking things at the front. All jokes aside, this is NOT how healthCARE should be. It is so incredibly sad that Quest thinks that their patients have NOTHING BETTER to do and have no concept of CARING for their patients - most of whom are sick, and some are scared and stressed and Quest just adds to the misery. It's shocking they would let a company function like this. Saying that, the staff did their best and with such a horrible working environment, I'm impressed with their decorum. I want to make it crystal clear that the person who took my blood was friendly and efficient. The woman who came out about every 20-30 minutes to explain to everyone they would be there for hours was pleasant enough. It's the whole concept of Quest's customer service that needs a full blown overhaul, not the people. They were doing the best they could under pretty tough circumstances. THIS PLACE IS REALLY OUT OF SYNC WITH THE NOTION OF CARING FOR THEIR PATIENTS. SAD! read more

Walk ins are not welcome. If you don't have an appointment you are put on "standby " for an unavailable time. Trying to get an appointment on the phone is just an automated unfriendly frustrating machine. You are treated like garbage. Getting an appointment online is also difficult. They were going to send us miles away. They obviously don't have enough technicians to handle the patients. Seriously if the doctor puts in an order for blood work, you shouldn't have to wait days or drive 20 miles away to get the test. You check in through a kiosk? There is no person there to help. Apparently even if you are dropping off a sample for tests, you need an appointment! This company is not user friendly. If you don't have an appointment you can have a long wait. The waiting room environment is sterile and unfriendly environment. The looped video is just annoying. The workers are mostly friendly, when you see them and if you have an appointment. They know their job, but aren't going the extra mile to help anyone. read more

Completely dismissive and disrespectful. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding this organization. All Front desk employees should be fired. They also do not have the courtesy to tell a senior citizen, who is there at 7:30 in the morning as a walk-in, that walk-ins will not be seen until after 4pm. Careless, callous and cold health care workers. They are bitter and scorn their customers for it. I've been here half a dozen times, and this was the last for me. I Made an appointment, checked in early, waited. An hour later I was informed dismissively, "taken off the list." At the Better Business Bureau, Quest Diagnostics has 1,622 complaints in the past 3 years, as well as 657 1-Star reviews, for example, "I have never experienced a more angry and belittling healthcare worker. The Quest labs at Alameda and Buena Vista are terrible. You even have to have an appt to drop off a urine sample. For the alameda buildings yiu have to pay to park and yiu have a long time in the waiting room. They insist that yiu check in using self service computer. I help an elderly friend and she can't do it. When you try to grab someone to help you, they can't be bothered. We now use a different lab. read more

I waited over 4 hours on the wait list! All their morning appts were booked and I need to fast for my blood work so I decided to go in without an appt since my husband always go without an appt & waited no more than 30 min in the past. Boy things have changed! 1st, you must check in on a tablet & scan your Dr License & Insurance card. There were a good number of non-techy folks that needed human assist so they had to wait for someone to come out. Way to go on saving cost, Quest! The system tells me the wait is 30-60 min. or more, do I still want to be on the wait list? I checked and there are 10 people on the wait list so I said yes. Had it said 2 hours, I would have said no. Had it said 4 hours, I would have said absolutely not! After checking in, I decided to go back to my car to get something. After I come back, an employee was taking role call and called my name, then informed me she almost removed me from the wait list. I cannot leave the room if I'm on the wait list because if they call me & I am not there, I will be removed. She wasn't happy doing the role call & customer service overall-you can tell from her voice and tone that she has to go out and check on customers once very 30-45 min. Thanks again Quest for eliminating the customer service position! After 45 min, I am #7 from #11 on wait list so I thought ok I can wait another 45 min. since I'm almost half way to the top and I do not want to fast again tomorrow. Another 45 min passed (1.5 hours total)and I'm #3 on the wait list. There's no turning back now. I am almost there! 35 min passed (2 hours total) and I am #1 on the wait list. Couple of folks on the wait list mentions to the employee taking role call, that they are diabetic and need to eat soon so the employee said they should make an appt to guarantee service and not have to wait long. She says this EVERYTIME she's taking role call. One more hour passed (3 hours total) and NOTHING! They keep taking in all the people that have appointments. The small waiting room has been full of people since I arrived and some are coughing without masks. We are all going to catch whatever is in the air because no one can leave if you are on the wait list OR if you have appt and leave after you checked in, which 1 woman did and lost her place in line. I feel like we're in a 3rd world or communist country! Another hour passed (4 hours total) and NOTHING! Role call takes place and a woman went up to the employee to mention that she's #2 on the wait list and needs to pee but she will also need to do an urine test. I immediately said me too. So the employee ushered both of us inside and gave us pee cups. THEN they called ME finally, after 4 hours and 15 min! I'm sure Quest Diagnostic is making profits hand over fist so cutting out the employee that takes appts and customer check ins is another way they can save cost. The employees are not happy having to do their regular duties and NOW customer services, except customers are now annoyed, angry, and hungry! read more

Thank you for also texting a picture of my insurance card to not one, but TWO of your coworkers/superiors, then telling me it was fine because you deleted it (it's not fine, total privacy violation). I really appreciate you arguing with me about that while telling me your location doesn't take my insurance. Even after I told you someone from my insurance told me to go to that specific Qwest. She drew my blood so we'll I didn't feel a thing and I tend to panic through things. 2 days later and I did not get a bruise. & usually when I go to get a blood test I do bruise. I gave up on this place 10 years ago when they said they would not stick me until I paid with a credit card. I had a PPO. It was a scam. I reported them. Now fast forward, we get a new Anthem HMO Select plan (horrible) and it's back to Quest. My daughter and I went yesterday to have a full panel done, as a request from our new doctor. Whoever the lead phlebotomist was, couldn't have been colder and meaner. My daughter has an issue with having her blood drawn. He blacks out. She needs to recline or lay down while drawing. The Armenian lady ignored her request and sat her in the chair. Sure as shit. Fainted. I was pissed and told the nurse who was sticking me, she needs ice and to lay down. And then I told the bitchy lady she needs to listen when a patient talks. She said something rude under her breath but I was more concerned about my girl then screaming. I would never. I came here this morning to get my toddler's blood drawn. She's only 19 months old so I was anxious but she did surprisingly well (she's a tough baby). I made the appointment online just yesterday, so that was great. I parked in the lot that's part of the building, and it's 85 cents every 20 minutes (note: they make you leave your keys in the car). The office is on the 4th floor, #406. We were the only ones there when we arrived at 9:45am on a Tuesday for our appointment. I used the iPad to check in and we waited less than 2 minutes to go in. The woman took my info, and I then had my girl sit on my lap, secure in my arms, while her blood was drawn. I don't know anything about blood drawing, but I felt bad for her because the doctor had ordered 4 vials be taken, and her blood was coming out really slowly, so it took a long time, and the woman had to move the needle around in the vein a lot. Fortunately my tough girl made it through, and got a sticker afterwards. read more

My mom usually draws my blood for my work, as I am on accurate and need to get monthly blood work done. Today I came to quest diagnostics and there was SO many people with and without appointments and both where taking a long. It defeated the purpose of the people making an appointment. I didn't mind waiting two hours as I had nothing to do. The front desk girl was very rude, she was Hispanic and spoke Spanish clearly to her co-workers and when a Hispanic couple went up to the computers to check in she was speaking to them in English and they kept telling her we don't speak English and she responded to them very rudely I just helped them I felt very bad. I speak a couple different languages even my own native language and never hesitate to help someone in need. read more

Lab Suite is now #406, not the 304 on Yelp! The new location was not listed in the directory nor was there a sign in the previous vacant office. The office closes at 4:30, not 5:00pm. There is only one technician working in the afternoon. The wait can get long. There is another Quest about a 2 min walk with 5 techs, if this office gets backed up. Overall, a good experience. I came as a walk-in for basic bloodwork and signed in on a tablet. The phlebotomist was nice and quick. She found my vein with no fuss, so can't complain. read more

This location is terrific. I've been here three times in the last couple months and I've only seen one other patient in passing. There is never anyone waiting in the waiting room. I arrived early each time and checked in with my phone and was taken in almost immediately, even if I was early for my appointment. Yesterday, I didn't even have a chance to sit down and Anahid came to get me. I was 15 minutes early. Speaking of Anahid, she's fantastic! Personable and professional, her confidence and skills set you at ease for the blood draw and I barely noticed the needle was in. She's an absolute pro and very sweet as well. Nice facility and it was empty when I arrived. The phlebotomist was very nice and found a vein easily however she used a needle that was too big for me (I get blood tests regularly and they always use a butterfly) and my arm has been swollen and sore for days and is bruising badly. If you have small or difficult veins please make an appointment at this Quest location and request Anahid. I have been to many labs and few people are able to find my veins. Usually The group there is very thorough. This time, I'm very pissed off. The phlebotomist was new(a lady about 50+) didn't get her name, wish I did. Definitely a new job carrier for her. I hate needles and don't watch. First she couldn't find a vein in my arm, but she said she was sure she found one. Not a usual spot, but ok? She stick me, then continued "fishing" for it. OMG, stop now! She gave up. I told her the best place for me, was the top of the hand, I have several good, visible ones right there. She picked one near my wrist? Why? Still not looking, till she tagged my wrist bone TWICE! M'Fer! So now I gotta watch her! Pointed to a nice spot on my hand. She found a vein. 6 viles. I can't count the number of times I saw that needle rise up from its intended spot. She got what was needed. I left. Three bandages looking like I left a war zone. A week later, I get my results thru my portal. It's been compromise! Big note stating the blood was not spun correctly and there was a 6 hr window for red blood to he spun. Now I'm pissed again. Important tests run and I don't know how accurate the results are. So who do you call to complain? Not my doctor, not myself. My insurance who are clearly paying for it? No one should pay for this. Now I need to go back for a re do. And what do I say? This maybe an "epic" yelp review, but wait till I get back with another lab order.
