We tried 2 different quesadillas and all the sauces. None of it was bad, but there was nothing special about it. I was looking for something easy to eat and I was looking for something savory. OMG! The different varieties of popular quesadillas or the "MYO" (Make your own) option was vast. It actually took me 8 mins to peruse the menu. I ordered the "Classic" which comes with house made chili Verde with all black beans in Spanish style rice, mixed with our cheddar and white cheese blend. It's seriously YUM! My husband ordered the make your own quesadilla with shredded beef and cheddar fajita veggies and liquid gold which is their version of orange sauce. Another seriously YUM Quesadilla! Customer Service was great. I explained to the guy that it was my first time here and he walked through the menu with me and explained all of their ingredients and how it's prepared. I'm very impressed. There are also extras where you could double up all of your ingredients and they also have gluten-free/corn tortillas. We were here at Friday night. They were quite busy and we weren't that hungry so we only ordered one. About 10 minutes later, the guy put 2 orders(happened to be exact the same lol) on our table. We immediately went into the store(only outside seats) and told the owner(I suppose). He then asked us to keep the extra as they won't take anything back to give to other customers once the food left the store even though we emphasized that we never touched either order. We feel lucky and really respect the attitude!! I came from Bay Area where a lot of Mexican food are good, but the quesadilla here did not disappoint me at all. The outside was just crunchy enough and the meat was juicy and plenty! (Though they were out of pork :( ) This is one of the best places you can go when you are in the down town Visalia area. This place has been here for years...and I'm disappointed that we haven't tried it sooner. We've been missing out! We ordered the classic and the california special...they were both so flavorful and the way they put the ingredients together complimented eachother perfectly. Everything tasted so fresh and our quesadillas were nice and hot...the quesadillas were not sloppy at all. We both had the cilantro lime sauce and it paired perfectly with the classic quesadilla. It was a bit too limey paired with the california quesadilla...we can't wait to come back and try their other quesadillas and sauces! read more

Love this spot! 4.5 but would totally be 5.0 if rated only by food. Consider this when going, the location may be small (comparing to the Fresno spots) BUT, you have to admit it's pretty freakin cool. High hopes for this spot on our pass through--very displeased that the website never mentions it is a walk up (not in) with only tables on the sidewalk. It was 56* - thank goodness for the sun. There's about a half dozen preset quesadillas and build-your own options with protein, cheese choice and other add ins like rice, beans, veggies, etc. Add chips and refillable fountain beverage for $5. Service was outside the front door- walk up, order, pay... then they bring it out. No table service or check ins once seated. Quesadillas were good- but not raveable. Dessert 'dillas' were thinly laced with Nutella and PB&J... had just run out of bananas. It was a sad attempt-- no dusting of powered sugar as menu states. Skip--- do not pay $7+ for thi s faux crepe. This could be a great, dine-in lunch spot with a small frontage for this developing downtown. Though the Front windows are filled with paper signs advertising an array of local things and through the glass, it appears to be a maze of kitchen equipment. I picked the chicken as my protein, fajita veggies and beans as my fillers, double cheese, and avocado cream and liquid gold as my two side sauces. The two stars are for customer service only, the food gets 0~ZERO STARS. I ordered the #1~ "Evan Boling Cilantro lime chicken with crisp bacon and fresh jalapeños, mixed with our white cheese blend, with extra chicken." for $13.02. The problem with this quesadilla is that it was so greasy that it soaked the tortilla and then dripped all over my hand as I tried to pick it up and eat it like a pizza slice. Then, because it was so limp and soggy with grease all the meat fell out. Which was not much, especially since I ordered and paid for extra meat. I know for a fact that the food preparers did not pat the grease off the bacon and the chicken was cut into tiny square chucks leaving me to think this was processed chicken. Not healthy at all! This was by far the most disgusting quesadilla I have ever had in my entire 56 years of life. NEVER AGAIN! read more

It's a hit and miss with this place. I've found it honestly depends on the staff working if you'll have a good experience. When it's good, you want to go back! When it's mediocre, you don't think about going back for a few weeks or so. My last two experiences were different based on the staff working. One day I was told I could swap out flour for corn tortillas. The guy was nice, balanced cooking and helped taking orders. Food was fresh and good in portions. The next time I went I was told I would be charged since it was a preference over an allergy(??) and the quesadillas didn't have a good portion of ingredients. The flavor wasn't bursting, but they do pride themselves in the love they put into their work and it is deeply appreciated. The sauces are mediocre. I came to Visalia for a 3-day training all the way from San José (very LONG drive of course), and I was on (err... actually currently on haha) a quesadilla kick. I grew up eating many quesadillas that my mom would make me and know what a good quesadilla is. I got to Visalia quite late and was really craving a quesadilla, of course. Before my trip, I bookmarked this place because I was looking up some places that I could get some quick and good food and not be totally disappointed with my eating out choices (I rarely eat out). It was 30 minutes before they closed at 8, so I ended up getting a simple cheese quesadilla with pico de gallo & onions. I also got some avocado sauce and roasted red sauce (from what I recall; I don't remember the exact names). OMGosh. The quesadilla was SO GOOD. Comparable to the quesadillas I make at home. I actually never ate them with pico de gallo inside them before, but I'm totally going to do that now. They have options with so many different ingredients and combinations that you can make your own. Or they have a select menu if you want less choice. If you are a meat eater, they have lots of meat options (I usually don't add meat to my quesadillas, but I do eat meat). I loved it so much that I went again before going back to the Bay. And, the place is super hipster considering that Visalia is such a small, middle-of-nowhere town. It was cool! The staff was awesome as well. Great service! Totally will recommend Quesadilla Gorilla to my friends if they ever go to this area. I will probably stop by when I go to Sequoia for hiking one day. Hopefully soon!
