The rooms are extremely warm and welcoming, there is also a beautiful indoor pool with a high cathedral ceiling. It actually felt like a trip to a museum with spectacular artwork and beautiful antique furniture. Much of the artwork has strong family ties and fabulous stories behind it. As stated, these gentlemen have thought about every detail down to slippers to fit you and robes to wear to the pool. The breakfast was far beyond my expectations, you order personally and it appears in the fridge. No sticky croissant and bear claws here. We loved the fact that breakfast was very personal rather than hanging out with Guy and Sue from Moncton around a big table There is also a grand property right on the creek although we were unable to explore thanks to the slush and mud. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in the Chocolate suite both times and I can't wait to go back. The place is immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and the attention to detail is just amazing. The suite we stayed in had a balcony and separate breakfast/living room. Stunning! Let me just say I would live here if I could! Don and James are wonderful hosts; they're friendly, funny and thoughtful.

Service was top notch especially with Angel looking after us for the fat bikes and smores. Wine tasting was also a great time with their sommelier explaining the wines and possible pairings. We were on the second floor while other friends had the larger suite with fireplace. Somehow, they didn't use it but it was smoking when returning from dinner. Hotel gave a discount next day but I told my friends to contact front desk right away. The stay included dinner which we upgraded to the 7 course as well as breakfast the next day. The water from the tub fir bath bomb was yellow so needed to re fill tub before dropping the bomb. Review for both meals will be on restaurant. The greenhouse was nice as well as the hiking trails but we noticed that there was a Santa brunch next to the spa which looked really good.

Kevin got back to me immediately and replied to my inquiry and we quickly and efficiently arranged everything. My friend and I arrived a bit earlier than we'd initially indicated, but both Kevin and Kim were welcoming and helpful. We were shown to a reasonable sized room on the second floor and all necessary amenities were explained to us. The decor of the place wasn't really my cup of tea, but the room was clean and cozy, so I can put aside my own personal aesthetic. The private bathroom was a decent size and well laid out. The bed was a wee bit smaller than I'd imagined, but it was very comfortable. My favourite part of my stay though hands down had to be my breakfast! Because Kevin and Kim knew we had an early start, they got breakfast going extra early for us. We started with freshly baked croissants, lemon poppy seed cake, and assorted fresh berries. DEELISH! Then we had poached eggs with hollandaise sauce with heirloom tomato on a wonderfully salty rosti. SO SO GOOD!!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the splash of pesto on the tomato added a perfect kick. I was in heaven. I love coming to Stratford to see the theatre. Next year, I am totally coming back here, but I am going to make sure that I have dinner at the Old Rectory too!

The bed was comfortable, huge walkin shower with beautiful coloured tiles. I like the window over looks the water. And you're located in the heart of the city near Shakespeare park. And you're connected to the Relic bar and cafe. Everything went well. The place is quiet and clean. They have parking with 4 spots and they were taken. We had to park 5 minutes away. They have designated spots with the name of the Inn. Now someone with mobility issues may have a problem. We also had issues with the tv and ended up staying on one channel the whole time. Despite that it was great experience.

My partner told him he was being very rude. He then said he didn't want people like us at his hotel and was cancelling our reservation and refunding our money. When my partner apologized - sincerely, not sarcastically - he attacked her "attitude" and completed the transaction on his phone as we looked on aghast. Interestingly when I called their office several hours later to inquire why the refund had not come through I was told he had cancelled another customer's reservation. I guess we are not all perfect after all.

This was our first stay together at a Bed and Breakfast and we were thrilled beyond all expectations. The property itself is a wonderfully cared for 1873 Victorian mansion. The interior is a pleasant balance of eclectic and period appropriate décor, with stunning wallpaper and interesting knick-knacks throughout the edifice. We stayed in La Grande Chambre, and were extremely pleased with the layout, which included a well-appointed bathroom, and a nicely sized makeup area. Moving into the main bedroom, we were delighted with the comfortable king-size bed, a nicely carved wardrobe and a multitude of shaded windows. Each morning greeted us with a new breakfast menu with a couple of delicious choices, preceded by a scrumptious appetizer. Each day's breakfast ended up being a fun and tasty treat. The location of the inn was another pleasant surprise, as it is situated minutes away from the downtown area, and close to the Stratford Festival theatres. The inn is also a few steps away from the wonderful walking paths along the Avon river. Fortuitously, the Stone Maiden is tucked far enough out of the way that we felt sheltered from the hustle and bustle, which comes with a tourist city. All in all, the inn and meals were absolutely spectacular, yet they paled in comparison to the geniality of our host. Upon meeting Tim, we could tell that this was a man who loved his job and took pride in not only the inn but also the hospitality he offered to each of his guests. Tim radiated positivity and exuded all the qualities of a true hotelier. Tim and Johanne turned a great stay into a perfect one. Not only will we be back to the Stone Maiden Inn on our next trip to Stratford, we will recommend it to any that are looking to visit. Beata and James

Wanted to spend the night in the Stratford area that wasn't going to cost hundreds of dollars…read more Having two kids, a pool seemed like a necessary asset. We arrived and it was a quick check-in project. It took WAY too long to find the room but we eventually got there. Requests were attended to quickly and if you're looking for a bed with your regular room accessories. This place meets the expectations but definitely does not exceed it. The pool was large, a little cooler than we expected. We had the pool to our self which was fun. The hot tub that's advertised does not exist and the sauna was out of order. There is no longer breakfast on site but they partner with Stackt which is a few minutes away. Staff seemed knowledgeable although someone at the desk was just learning the ropes. Everyone seemed accommodating. Price point was fair for what we got. We didn't need anything fancy just a safe, clean place to rest our head and it did that. If I need a bed, pool and not much more this is a good choice. If you want something on the nicer side, this is not the place. At the right price I would definitely go back.

I know it's…read moreon the outskirts of Stratford and I get what I get when there are no places to stay in Kitchener - because Home Hardware was having their convention...I know...HH Convention? Yup...trailers, power tools, and riding lawn mowers - come to think of it, I think I would have a blast there! Back to the Inn. I got there and I had some hopes. They sent me off to the back where there were rows of mini-rooms. After getting my stuff in, and swatting a moth the size of a cicada - ugh really!?! - I tried to get on the WiFi and couldn't. Called the front desk and they say only wired in the outside suites. I told them that most modern portables (notebooks, tablets, and the like) no longer have network ports on them and that I would be checking out. That is when they offered me the place in the main building. The WiFi was spotty but enough to get my work done and check Yelp for more info on the place. After reading about bed bugs, I tossed the whole bed and took the sheets off to inspect it. Found no bugs and decided that I will stay there - too late now to go elsewhere. Went to the front desk and asked if the bar was open - nope - how about the restaurant - nope. Really? I don't think it was even 8PM or maybe it was 9PM. Got in the car and drove a few minutes to Crabby Joes - name tells you how I felt. Next morning rise and shine, I forgo'd the breaky and left as soon as possible. 2 stars for a 2 star Inn. Cheers.

I would give Foster's Inn a full 5 stars but for 2 things…read more 1. They say the parking lot is half a block away, which is probably true...as the crow flies. After walking more than a mile both to and from the theater the day we arrived, hauling our luggage from the public lot was no fun. 2. There are no mini fridges in the rooms, so no place to keep medications that require refrigeration or a cool drink, though they do provide glasses to drink from the tap. The rooms are quaint and simple, but comfortable and very clean. The owner and the staff are all very friendly, and the hotel is unexpectedly quiet for the most part. We couldn't hear much from other rooms, from the lounge/bar/restaurant downstairs, nor from the street.

Mindy gave us our key and lots of information about Stratford and the Shakespeare Festival (which is why we came here). She and her husband were welcoming and very nice. When we entered our room, we were greeted with two dark chocolates and a THANK YOU card by our bed. The bed was comfortable for 2 nights' restful sleep. The table and chairs by the window were comfortable to enjoy the view & reading materials. A small fridge kept our drinks and food cold. We don't drink coffee, but we had a Keurig and coffee packets with the necessary extras. The air conditioner kept the room cool, the lighting was all we needed, & outlets were enough for charging all of our electronics. A small closet had all the hangers we needed, as well as an iron & ironing board. We enjoyed our quiet room and the peaceful surroundings for three days & two nights. The pool looked inviting, but we did not have time to use it. We did use & like the ice machine, and TV. We hope to return next year for the Festival!
