Duggan Place Heritage Inn - The Angelina Suite

I stayed in the Polly Kelly Suite which was perfect for me since I love to have my coffee outdoors in the morning. The little balcony just through the French doors was ideal for this. The bed was comfortable and I loved that the room was equipped with a little bar fridge, a Keurig single serve coffee machine, wine glasses and a corkscrew. The location was close to everything and anywhere that I walked was welcome exercise full of beautiful scenery. Tony and Laura are wonderful hosts and all-around lovely people. Laura's breakfast was incredibly delicious and Tony's hospitable conversation could not be beat. The separate dining tables are a special touch because they allow privacy for the guest who prefers it, but they are close enough together to allow convivial conversation amongst others who want to chat. If you're looking for a charming, central B&B with exceptional hosts, delicious breakfasts and relaxing accommodations, Duggan Place is the spot for you in Stratford.

I booked through Booking.com which was easy and convenient. The owners of the B & B were extremely welcoming and gracious. The decorum is absolutely lovely and tastefully done. Comfy chic meets Victorian style. The house is a Victorian style home with up to date inviting furniture. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with extremely comfortable beds and bedding. Each room had their own bathroom with all modern amenities and wonderful fluffy towels. It felt like home away from home. After a wonderful sleep, we had the most delicious breakfast served. The fruit plate was presented like a piece of art. So fresh and tasty. Followed by another artfully plated egg frittata. The owners, Anthony and Laura are absolutely lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. I will absolutely be staying here again and not just for Theatre reasons. What a great place for a little weekend getaway to relax, rest and recharge. Perfect for one or a couples retreat or a girls weekend away.

Beautiful decor! It is so elegant and heavenly white with classical or piano concerto playing in the background!! The dining area could not have been anymore romantic and intimate. My beau and I loved the open brunch table in the centre of the main dining area, where you can get endless servings of fruits including strawberries, pineapples, and dragonfruits!! We have never eaten dragonfruits for brunch at any hotel before! So exotic! We ate so many slices. Service was a collective team effort and everyone was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. I can tell that they all enjoyed working there from their seemingly genuine smiles and bubbly personalities! The food there was so good!! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had their prix Fixe Easter brunch special and it was worth every dollar!! What a beautiful way to celebrate both Easter and my beau's birthday!! My beau was so impressed and thankful of me for booking and paying for brunch here that he is planning to treat me here next year for his not so surprising proposal!!! When the staff knew of his plans, the receptionist immediately gave us a tour of their suites and amenities!! What excellent and attentive service!! I will definitely come back here in the near future for a couple retreat or weekend getaway!! Stratford is such a cute town with so many good restaurants and hotels open during their famous and busy Stratford Festival season, but this hotel and restaurant really stood out to the both of us!! 5/5 would highly recommend!!

Queen and Albert B & B

Others we met at breakfast had been coming for years and one person even indicated that he booked his trip around Queen and Albert vacancies he loved it so much. The setting is unique. It's an old butcher shop from the early 1900's. The entry area (and breakfast room) retains the large glass windows and high ceilings. One room opens up into this area on the first floor. Two have Juliette balconies opening to it on the second and the fourth room is on the second floor in the rear. Sometimes we feel that the words should be flipped around- Breakfast and Bed. Not to argue with the timing, but to put the proper importance onto the meal. Here it did not disappoint, though neither did it amaze. Quite good, but not quite memorable. One day the frittata reminded Vickie that we should make these at home, though nothing about it indicated that it might be a challenge to do it well. The next morning the meatless Eggs Benedict was equally enjoyable, though the absence of meat without having another signature flavor added emphasized the flatness of the flavor- with a tasty but not complicated Holandais. The rooms were comfortable and modern. While ours was called the San Francisco room the decor reflected the owners travel in southern Asia. The square tile floors seemed more reminiscent of the locations original purpose in retail than what one would normally find in a B and B. The owner was elusive when we asked for recommendations for restaurants and activities- differing to the tourist bureau, and not mentioning the menus and guidebooks in his lobby. Later he warmed up and shared but we felt originally put off by the lack of engagement. A small parking lot offers one tight space per room. The locations is very convenient to the main festival theater, a bit less so to the town and other theaters. All would normally be in walking distance but with my wife's sore ankles we were happy to drive. Would we go back? Sure, but probably not. Not because anything was lacking, but because there are so many other beds to explore in the city. Would we recommend it to friends or family? Sure.

The owners are very friendly and helpful including taking us to the train station - early in the morning - during their busy time. I would not want to stay anywhere else in Stratford!

Even a friendly nod would have been appreciated. When the lady did check us in she caught and us that there were quite a few high school and little school hockey teams so it was probably going to get loud at times. The first evening was great, it wasn't very loud as the kids had not checked in yet. The next day was another story. in the afternoon, what appeared to be middle school kids, and probably their younger siblings essentially overtook the hallways with yelling and screaming while running around. Several rooms opened up the doors and told the kids to quiet down and finally some fathers came out to kind of help ensure that the kids were quiet. The hotel does have a 10 PM curfew but the fathers said the kids had a 9 PM curfew. That sounded perfect.! Later that evening, all hell broke loose as the teenagers got wild in the hallways. They ran around slamming into walls and doors. They yelled and swore (f-bombs). Long story short, many rooms ended up calling the front desk to complain in police were eventually called out as it was 1130 at night. One room in particular was very bad, across the hall from us, and the police entered that bedroom at some point The next morning, I went to the front desk and asked if they knew if the coach of these teenagers was still around. Of course, they said they had no idea. I hope the coach finds out how horribly these teenagers acted and removed them from the games this weekend. But the way these entitled teens were acting , I highly doubt it. The hotel also said that each room had to have an adult chaperone, but there was no way an adult was in some of these bedrooms. The yelling and roughhousing in the rooms just would not have occurred if a parent was in there, so I really am doubting what the hotel said about each room needing a chaperone. Would I come back here again? Possibly but I would definitely make sure that there was not going to be any sports teams staying there.
