However, after my experience last night I may have to reconsider - after all, there are a ton of nail places out there. Anyway, an important part of my story is that I recently converted MH to pedicures - it took 10 years and was not easy! He really liked it the first time - I was very surprised and pleased. I think a big part of it was the hot water soak. However, the hot water was nowhere to be found when we went at 6pm yesterday. Getting a pedicure in cold water is tolerable but definitely NOT preferable. Evidently they had run out. Don't ask me how this is possible in a business where it's so important. When I brought this up to the receptionist (and de facto manager) she blew it off. Not very customer friendly - in fact a bit combative and challenging. Not to mention that we both had the shortest pedicures there - of all the people in the chairs, it seemed like we were in and out before any of them. Plus he decided to get a manicure too just to see what it was like. Once we got out I was shocked to see I could still push the cuticles down with my nails - after all, isn't that what a manicure is for? I hate to be nit-picky (no pun intended!) but honestly! I wanted to go back and remedy this but was overruled. I may go back, but it will be to talk to the regular manager. It's ok if you happen to be by and need services urgently - as long as it's not in the evening. Not unless you're a fan of soaking in cold water.

I went into this nail salon at around 6pm as I had an hour to wait to go home. I asked for a…read moreFrench manicure. The manicurist asked me if I wanted a pedicure. I asked how long it would all take and was told 45 minutes, so figured I would go for it. I was rather upset when she told me my fingernails were too long for a manicure (?!) and chopped half of them off, leaving me with about 1.5mm of nail on each finger. Then the water in the pedicure was cold. Not nice. Next the manicurist asked me if I wanted this cheese-grater type thing on my feet, I said no, she told me I needed it and used it anyway. Finally someone came in wanted a bikini wax, so she left me mid-pedicure and went off to do the waxing. Not impressed. On to the manicure. I noticed she pulled out this odd drying machine and I said, I want regular polish ok, nothing special. She tells me it is regular polish and that this is just to dry the nails. I realise as I am looking at the nail polish bottles that this is UV drying gel nail polish, not regular polish. I ask her how do I get this off and she says just with regular nail polish remover. I was not convinced. At the end of all that I did not give her a tip. It cost $55, which I was not expecting as it was advertised around $30 outside. She looked aggrieved that I did not leave a tip. I finally left at 7.30. Yes I was there 1.5 hours. I am now one hour into trying to remove this nail polish. It is a mess. After less than one week, it peeled up from the bottom of each nail. Peeling it off damages the nail. Trying to use nail polish remover, you have to scrape and scrape to get it off. This was the worst manicure and worst service I have ever come across. I do not recommend this salon.

I found this nail salon on Yelp and after reading through the reviews I decided to give them a try and I was absolutely pleased with my experience. I was in no way disappointed. The staff was so warm and friendly and the atmosphere was super relaxing. It is a small, intimate salon. Bird did my full set and he takes pride in his work. It's very hard to find a nail tech that is amazing but he definitely is. I love my nails. They are super neat and exactly what I wanted. Naturally, I returned when my daughter asked if we could get her nails done this weekend. I left this salon with my daughter being very upset the entire drive home. We spent more than two hours here, not because we were walk-ins and had to wait, as we were taken right in by the owner, but aside from him, and maybe two other techs, the rest proved to be novices when it comes to nails. The Deets: The nail tech doing the pedicure said we'd have to wait for the owner if we wanted acrylics but if we changed our minds and got dips, she could do them. What a mistake that was! She didn't perform the work that was asked. The color was off, the nails had grooves, the length and shape weren't what my daughter requested, and certainly didn't come close to the photo she had open the entire time on her phone as a guide to follow. In addition, the tech cut my daughter's cuticle and it bled! Then, they had to find another one to do the nail art which wasn't done correctly. (See the comparison photo!) In the end, we brought up all our concerns at checkout. The young girl up front was nice and apologized but she said there was nothing that could be done at that point. I was very disappointed; especially because I went in wanting to do something special for my child and spent nearly $120 on this visit. The Bottom Line: While the salon's aesthetics are pristine, it takes more than that to build clientele and grow a business successfully. The pricing may be comparable but the quality and service leaves much to be desired. Now I need to search for another salon to get the nails removed and redone because my daughter "hates" them even a day later and that is upsetting for me. Top Tip: Trust your fellow reviewers! Everyone has a bad day, but nine times out of ten, if a business does shoddy or less-than-good work and they don't offer to fix it--it's not personal--they've offered their best! Move on and give another business the opportunity to do things right.
