We stopped by on a Wednesday night at 5pm, to get some food to go. We were warmly greeted when we entered. I ordered the shrimp taco plate and my husband got the carnitas burrito. Our order came out in about 20 minutes and we walked up the hill to our rental. The shrimp tacos were tasty as were the rice and black beans. My husband enjoyed the flavors of the burrito but wished the pork was a little more fatty. I thought it was very delicious, especially the mild avocado tomatillo sauce. They were generous with the meat. I would order the burrito next time. It was a good experience.

First time visiting Julian and thankful we chose this place for dinner! We got seated quickly, no wait. Staff was very friendly (as is the whole town). We sat at an outside table that teetered whenever someone would walk on the wood plank beside it, which shook our water glasses, but it wasn't a bother. THE FOOD is amazing. delicious. authentic. We ordered 12 street tacos (shrimp, carnitas, potato, carne asada) and the meat was seasoned beautifully. Potato was okay, so I'd probably switch that out next time. I got Horchata and it tasted SO good! It was definitely homemade which is usually rare to find, so this was a delight. Highly recommend ordering the side (small) guac which was enough for 2 to share. Definitely bookmarking Quecho as a quality place to dine at the next time we're in Julian! We found it to be one of the best Mexican restaurants we've eaten at (& we live in OC).

Went on a Friday a little after noon with a party of 9 and they weren't busy so we were able to be seated right away! Our server wasn't super friendly but he was serving 9 of us and he made no mistakes! And for as many of us as there were, our food came out quickly I got the mahi mahi tacos. It comes with rice and your choice of pinto or black beans. I was impressed with the fresh corn tortillas. The mahi was good but not the best quality you could have. The rice and beans were both good too! It was a hefty portion for $17.50, and that's a good price for 2 fish tacos with 2 sides nowadays. It served me for 2 meals. Our table also tried their tableside guac which was creamy and fresh! It didn't come with many chips though. They gave us 3 chips and salsa baskets too. Their salsa was on the thinner side and nothing special. Their chips are thicker and more plain but do seem fairly fresh!

Chicken pollo asado taco plate was filling and delicious

I came here on a Saturday around 3PM craving some warm Mexican food. My party of 4 waited to be greeted and seated upon entering the fairly small establishment. My sister joked that "you know this place is good when there's a random kid in the corner". LOL- we were sat immediately and our orders were taken. Cara was our waitress and she was very friendly and honest. The food came out in a fair amount of time and man oh man was it delicious! I got the pollo asado taco plate with rice and beans. The chicken was cooked well, the rice was fluffy and the beans were delicious too! Everyone in my party kept raving about how good the food was with every bite. Cara checked on us and gave us our check in a timely manner. I visited their bathroom and it was clean and well-stocked. I definitely recommend this place for a lunch or dinner!

Really good Mexican food off the main drag in Julian, though we made the mistake of going on a Saturday in the middle of apple season. Sat on the front porch and took maybe 45 minutes for the sever to take our order and then another 30+ minutes to get our food. The restaurant was packed -- staffing another server or two would have helped a lot. Solid place to eat vegan but not worth the wait on a busy weekend.

We make a trip to Julian as many as 6 times a year and we look to enjoy a meal at a different establishment each time. Today was Quecho, just off the mani street. If you know you know This is legit good Mexican food in the beautiful mountain town of Julian. We shared the Mocajete which comes with a side of rice and a side of Frijoles cooked in the ranch style. Absolutely awesome. This meal would serve 4 easily. Ambiance is quaint and the service is friendly but could be a bit better. We will definitely be back when we come back up the mountain. This place is a must!!!

The food was ok! It was freezing cold but we decided to sit outside. The wait to sit inside was 45 mins. The decor was very cute. I wouldn't go back.

Not only great food and service, but a much needed release valve from the crowds just 1-block off the main drag. Parking on side streets also much more convenient and less congested. Enjoy!

The server showing us to our table looked annoyed that I asked to sit in the back patio, why offer it? They really can't serve decent chips and salsa, my chips were wet upon arrival and stale, the salsa looked old. We sat outside on the back patio looked down and there was old dog poop on the floor right next to where we had sat, we paid and left as soon as we noticed.

Ask the Community - Quecho Elevated Mexican Eatery

    Do they accept Reservations?

No they don't. It's a check in on the waitlist with a QR code.

I'm allergic to nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, tomatillos, and peppers including red pepper spices). Any chance their beans or proteins are safe for me to enjoy? Any guidance is much appreciated.

I don't want to be silly but I would think no (or not to take the risk) based on the cuisine . Were you unable to get hold of them by phone /ask them directly?

    Are they pet friendly?

They have an outdoor porch where you can sit with your pet.

    What night is sushi night?

Just found out it's the 2nd Wednesday of each Month but you should call as it's by reservation

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!!
