What a diamond in the ruff bakery! We stopped by to pick up some sweets for a party. We had never been to this bakery so we weren't sure about the quality of sweets. We were looking for classic bakery items but nothing too sweet. We were so pleasantly surprised by Quebrada's goods! We ordered 6 cupcakes and 6 cookies. Everything was incredibly delicious. Our favorites were the mocha and vanilla cupcakes and the chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies! The prices were reasonable as well. Nothing I love more than the smell of fresh baked yumminess early in the morning! Buttery croissants with all sorts of fruity filling to be exact! They have all their baked goods right in front as you enter inside this little bakery so be prepared to tell them you're still looking because you're just overwhelmed by their vast selection of goodies. Apple Croissant- These croissants are massive with lots of fluff. Once you get in the middle of this flakey goodness, the filling has these fresh bits and pieces of apple. Raspberry Croissant- Sweet with the right amount of tart inside of this buttery pastry. Cinnamon Almond Croissant- This was probably the only one I didn't like. It was dry and a bit on the harsher side with the cinnamon and sliced almond so just have a drink ready for this one. Overall Service: As I was perusing through their selections, it felt like they were rushing me a bit by constantly asking me if I decided on anything yet. We were so happy to finally see the Watertown location open. It's a gem to have a bakery we can walk to especially when my 4 yo granddaughter is here! The mini cupcakes she and I got were great and my kid loved the scones (I love the cinnamon buns). This used to be a relaible place to order from. Not any more. The spinach croisssants that used to bring me to this place, the ones that used to be full of spinach in a moist wrapping of dough are now these internally barren dried out hockey pucks. I was driving around Belmont to clear my head and to do a little bit of exploring. Bakeries always divert my attention... I went for a mini croissant and it was better than I expected. For some reason, I was anticipating a Costco-clone in small size, but it had a decent flaky texture on the outside. The mini raisin scone had good flavor and wasn't dry. A recent addition to Belmont center this little sister store to the Arlington favorite brings a much needed indie bakery to the Belmont scene. I popped in recently and found a feeling of pastry deja vu- albeit offered up on a slightly smaller scale. The two pastry cases display all your usual suspects: muffins, scones, eclairs, croissants, cupcakes and cake options. Many of the goodies come in regular or petite versions- letting you adjust your sliding scale of gluttony accordingly. My wild blueberry scone and chai confirmed that this smaller storefront still delivers the same tastiness I'd come to expect from their Arlington brethren. My only qualms with this place have to do with the set-up. The store is small (no in-store seating) and there's no clear traffic pattern in place for browsing, ordering and waiting for your purchase. The day I was here it wasn't particularly crowded with 4-5 patrons in the shop at any given time. But it felt cramped. There were a few times while I was waiting to order, peering around the other customers standing idly around the counters, when I thought about just bouncing to avoid the awkwardness-- but in the end the scone won me over and proved worth the wait. Easily beating out nearby Brueggers & Starbucks in both quality and selection- this place will do well here. Just a word of advice- as Quebrada gets into their groove at this Belmont location, consider making the ordering layout more clear to customers. You want to give people every reason to come in and order, so a sign or verbal prompt about which side to order and which side to wait would be appreciated. I came here for the first time about a week ago after living nearby for a couple of months. I kept hearing about how good the pastries are so I came here to try for myself. The moment I walked in everyone was staring at me as if they have never seen an Asian person walk into the store before. I felt awkward the whole time I was there. As for the pastries I ordered, the raspberry croissant was my favorite. However, if that is how I am going to be welcomed every time I go here, I doubt I will be back. read more

I have driven past this place a ton of times and have always wanted to stop. Today I was able to go in and I don't regret it at all. The service was great, and the various treats we got were delicious. I LOVE that they are a nut-free facility as well. The 3 little boys I babysit for have peanut allergies and getting them treats here gave me extra peace of mind that I wouldn't have to worry about them having a reaction. I'll definitely be back! This place is good, their pastries are always delicious. Their breakfast sandwiches are great as well. However, I have ordered their hot chocolate and it is just plain awful. I ask every time is it made with milk, they assure me it is. When I taste it, it's like I am drinking hot water with a hint of chocolate in it. Their hot chocolate isn't cheap, so I expect it to be made right. After about the 5th time I have just given up. read more

Holy mother of petite croissants ... why have I not written about this location sooner? The most recent of the franchise (recent being relative since it opened up about a year ago) is a solid establishment for all things yummy and in all shapes and sizes. Since I am mostly at this one in the morning, I opt for the croissants ... Apple, Apricot, Almond, Almond cinnamon, chocolate - you get the idea - and their petite versions. You need to get here early for the petite anything because they sell out quickly. The croissant in all its incarnations are light and flaky but more importantly fresh. I am partial to the almond but apple seems to be the favorite at home. While you can purchase a coffee or tea (the iced tea rocks), the only reason for the minus one star is because the place is too small for seating, so you can not sit and relax and enjoy your purchased delicacies and drinks. read more

The mini cupcakes were the perfect size (I don't like *too* much dessert, I know I'm weird), and price (less than $2!). Quebrada just opened full time on Friday. I tried a couple of the small muffins (only $1.30 each) and both the corn muffin and blueberry muffin were excellent. I also had a large coffee that was very smooth and tasty. Quebrada is in the location that used to house a fish market and will be a welcome addition to Belmont Center and provide a much better option for baked goods than the Starbrucks or Brueggers. read more

Had to pass through the town of gnomes today (well at least the train station), and figured I would stop at Quebrada since it is right across the street from the train station. Very impressed with the design, very chi chi.... It wasn't crowded, and there seemed like more counter help than patrons, but since there are no seats, I am sure it is a walk in, smell the heavenly smells, order too many good things and walk out type of place. Anywho, I digress.... ordered a few of their croissants and muffins to take into town for a meeting... Must confess, it was hard to control myself on the train and only eat one croissant. The ham and cheese croissant took one for the team and was sacrificed on the way into town... Can you say, flaky, warm, overloaded with cheese and ham??? Not a crumb left and the other pastries were in danger, but I controlled myself. The counter staff were very nice, and apparently there is (at least today) a free small coffee with a purchase if you buy something before 9:00 AM. Since I already had my Starbucks jet fuel, I didn't need any more. I feel sorry for those Belmontians who will have to start buying larger clothes after being regulars at Quebrada.....! read more

Excellent coffee! And they have actual CREAM -- how nice is that?! I can't imagine how the burnt-tasting coffee and alleged "food" at the Starbucks (practically next door) will fare with a competitor like Quebrada on the street. I know that I now have no reason to go into Starbucks in Belmont Center unless I need to use the restroom. That is one of the two drawbacks to this Quebrada -- no restroom and no seats. I am so thrilled to find good coffee in Belmont Center! I have been a fan of Quebrada in its other locations for decades and am delighted that one has opened in Belmont. Very nice counter service as well. Adorable cookies! Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended. If you're about to walk into Starbucks, do yourself a favor. Turn right, walk another thirty feet or so, and go to Quebrada instead. Unless you want to sit and chill and use the free wi-fi, there is just no reason to go to Starbucks anymore. read more

I can only speak to the croissants and coffee but they do not disappoint! They are hands-down, my first choice in Belmont Center when it comes to coffee/breakfast. All of the other baked goods look pretty awesome but I have yet to try any. The only thing that's a tad confusing is that since the store is a bit tiny, if there's any sort of line, there's really no rhyme or reason as to the logistics of a line/ordering. This in no way takes away from the food or the very courteous people behind the counter. This place is definitely a keeper in my book! read more

Quebrada Bakery does not take food allergies seriously. This is a critical message to share which could save a life. People rave about their vegan cupcakes but if you have dairy allergies, ordering a vegan cupcake could put you at risk for anaphylaxis. Their employees are not well trained in knowing which cupcakes are vegan and which aren't. You have to special order vegan cupcakes in Belmont but even when I did that, Quebrada made multiple mistakes on my order even when I told them they were for a child with an anaphylactic allergy to dairy. I was given regular cupcakes (containing dairy) that were marked vegan. I was suspicious about them because they were full-sized and I knew the vegan cupcakes were petite but the salesclerk told me they were vegan. She looked at the attached order form and reiterated that they were vegan. I had to argue that they didn't sell large vegan cupcakes and that they only sell chocolate vegan cupcakes and these were yellow cake. BEWARE. It's too risky to eat here if you have food allergies. So many people made mistakes on this order that it seems there is something systematically wrong with this bakery and their training. No one seemed to understand the severity of their mistakes. The manager, Colette, offered me the cupcakes for free for their mistake. Seriously?!!!!! read more

I wish they let you rate different aspects of the store separately. This place has some super "pros" and some just as super "cons." Pros: The chocolate croissants are very, very good. Huge chunks of chocolate and a perfectly flaky, tender croissant wrapping with just enough powdered sugar to compliment the dark chocolate inside. The plain croissants are really, really good- IF you get them fresh. The cream cheese frosting on the carrot cupcakes and chocolate coconut cupcakes is wonderful- sweet and creamy and oh my goodness yummy. The man I work for LOVES the cherry cheese danish. He is 93 and they are the only things I can get him to eat on a consistent basis. The blonde lady with the freckles is wonderful. Friendly and smiley and always thanks you for coming in. Cons: They're a little pricey. One danish, two cupcakes and a chocolate croissant came to almost $14. However, the quality is there, so you're getting what you pay for- and I've never minded paying extra for good stuff. The chocolate croissants and the croissants are not made on premise. I found this out on a day I stopped in at 645 and the spots were empty. When I asked if there were any in the back I was told that they "hadn't arrived yet and should be there by 8am." The croissants taste stale and are chewy sometimes. Not always fresh. The frosting on the decorated cupcakes and mocha cupcakes is AWFUL. It tastes like they whipped up some butter and colored it. NOT SWEET at all- and leaves a horrible, greasy after feel in one's mouth. Ugh. The cake part, however is moist and chocolately and good. Make a better buttercream and you've got an awesome cupcake. They run out of cherry cheese and cream cheese danish before 730am on a regular basis. If you know something is popular, why not stock more? I went in the other morning at 630 and there was nobody manning the counter, but I could see two people standing in the back talking. I smiled and called "Good morning," and one (the younger woman with the brown hair) looked at me with a deadpan expression, then looked back to her companion and continued talking. After waiting a couple minutes longer, since I had to be at work by 7, I called good morning again. She then FLUNG down the towel she had been holding and stalked out to the front. No good morning, no sorry for keeping you waiting, just a short, curt "Yes?" and a sour face. She put my selections in several bags and tossed them on the counter. The other regular counterperson always puts multiple bags in a larger bag to make carrying them easier, but obviously this one felt the extra courtesy unnecessary. Took my credit card, rang me up, then turned and stalked back into the back room WITHOUT A WORD. Oh, I'm sorry to have interrupted your conversation....were you not wanting customers today???? Don't worry, this one won't be back. I'll drive an extra mile or two down Common Street and get comprable pastry for half the price and ten times better service. read more

I love this place! I practically have to stop myself from going here! They are located right off of Route 9 so it is extremely convenient on my way to work, and there is no other comparable coffee shop in between Boston and here! Only Dunkin Donuts and even Starbucks, so I was trilled when I discovered it! They are pricey, but their lattes are delicious and they even have chai. Their bakery is yummy, I tried very few things but the croissants and always fresh and their scones are actually moist. I never have to wait for long as they are always on point and making sure every customer is well taken care of. read more

I LOVE coming in to Quebrada. The restaurant is always immaculate, and the staff is so kind. I feel like a very valued guest. My daughter is allergic to nuts and the staff knows exactly which product has nuts in in, they are very knowledgeable on the menu. The owner is huge with the community often times donating to food pantries and every year when I run the Boston Marathon, I can count on her to be outside of her Wellesley store cheering us on and giving salt to those who may need it. I love her enthusiasm and it shows with the staff too, they are always smiling. Their iced coffee is a perfect ten, and their desserts are made from the freshest ingredients.
