    Raspberry croissant and plain croissant
    Rajandeep D.

All the reviews speak for themselves--this place is amazing! Great food, great service, and, you guessed it, a great vibe. Following recommendations from the server, we tried the raspberry croissant, plain croissant, tea, and cappuccino (not pictured)--all made to perfection. The croissants were light and fluffy with a crisp outside. The shop's side seating is quiet and cozy, and they also sell a variety of imported packaged food. Looking forward to trying their macarons next time.

We stopped by Praline on a Saturday morning. It was not too busy, so we took our time deciding what to order. We ended up getting the paris-brest and Almond Pear Tart. The paris-brest had a pretty thick cream while the pastry itself was soft. Although the hazelnut flavor was quite prominent, it was not too sweet. The almond pear tart stole the show. It tasted as gorgeous as it looked. The tart itself was soft and buttery. The pears and almond blended perfectly without overpowering one another. Same as the other pastry, this was not too sweet. If I had the stomach room, I would have tried some of their other desserts as they had quite a variety of croissants and quiche as well.

    Mariage freres tea
    Jungwon K.

I have been on the hunt for mariage freres tea and this bakery is the only place that sells it! I spoke with one of the owners (I think) and he is Moroccan so he is very knowledgeable about tea. He gave me a few suggestions so I got a few boxes for my friends and I. The tea bags cost $30, which is the same price as online. Very thankful he doesn't upcharge on the tea even though he totally could!! I also had a croissant and it was so delicious with my new tea :) can't wait to finish my supply and be back for more!

Chocolate/Caramel Bouche de Noel (Gluten Free)
    Cindy M.

Praline's chocolate/caramel Bouche de Noel is a seasonal trifecta of beauty, deliciousness & gluten free! It's made with layers of dark & milk chocolate cream and a heavenly white chocolate-caramel layer sprinkled w/French Fleur de Sel. They build it on their flourless chocolate cake and top it off with a dark chocolate glaze. Their croissants are also delicious!

A regular box of 4 macarons (raspberry, mango passion fruit, espresso, and black current violet) / Jan. 2023

A delectable French patisserie that reminds me of my days in Paris. I'm lucky to have Praliné within easy reach. It's been a pleasure being their customer for several years now, with such kind owners and staff. Their cozy little shop has glass cases of pastries, macarons, and fresh croissants (and other viennoisseries), alongside a shelf of imported teas, jams, and other treats. You can pick up a hot coffee or tea and sit at one of the couple counter spots. But I'm usually here for the baked goods. I come for macarons, which are naturally gluten free worth that crisp shell and chewy interior. The quality can sometimes differ between flavors and the particular day, but generally they are quite good. My favorite flavors are the creamy espresso, tart black current violet, and tangy mango passion fruit. For those who freely enjoy gluten, the croissants are flaky and buttery, especially the one with chocolate (pain au chocolat). I've gotten several of the case pastries as special treats for birthdays and housewarmings, and they've always been crowd pleasers, especially the opera cake and various tarts. When I want particular flavors of jam that I can't get in the regular grocery store, like chestnut/marron or golden plum/mirabelle, I know I can pick it up here (Bonne Maman or another brand). They also carry Mariage Frère and another French brand of loose leaf tea. I do wish they carried baguettes (they did a long while back), but no matter. Everything else is house made and delicious, so I will be back again and again!

The owner was kind enough to reach out and replace this order. Got to try three croissants this time--almond, chocolate, and plain. These seemed like a quintessential French buttery croissant (though I haven't had the pleasure of trying them out of the oven in the morning). The plain and chocolate were particularly flaky and puffy, and the almond has a good amount of almond paste and crispy sweet crunchy almond over the top. Most importantly, we were able to get those great flavors we previously expected, without the strange cleaner flavor we got last time. The owner says they rectified the situation and I'm glad to confirm that that does indeed seem to be the case. A tip: It's a good idea to call ahead and set things aside before you head over. Quite a few times they've run out of some items I've been interested in when I showed up, most recently the Paris best, ham and cheese croissant, and today I had the last almond. Glad to see they're popular and doing well during the pandemic!

We selected pecan square for thanksgiving. It was perfect, everyone is loveddd thank you pralinee!!!

Chocolate twist - yum! Love the chocolate chips & creamy filling. Also the cutest little 1 macaron box!
    Amy X.

I LOVE the chocolate twist here... just like the ones I'd get in Paris! The macarons are pretty good but pricey at $3 each. If the prices were lower I'd come a lot more often and try more of their pretty desserts and savory items.

Hazelnut Opera Cake. Café Au Lait.

Such a hidden gem in Belmont. The service and pastries are both incredible! Tried their Hazelnut Opera Cake and it was the perfect balance of richness and sweetness. The lady and gentleman behind the counter were both so nice and gave us great recommendations. Parking was also easy, there's plenty of spots right outside. Authentic French pastries and lovely service, not much more you can ask for ~

It was Sunday afternoon and we were looking for a cute pastry shop with coffee. I had previously stopped by for Macarons and coffee, both of which were excellent, so I decided to stop by again. This time I tried a cappuccino as well as half a raspberry passion fruit tart and half of an apple pastry. They were both delicious. The tart was a bit on the expensive side at almost $10, but it was worth it. The fruit was fresh and sweet, and the consistency was just exquisite. You would take a bite and it felt like it melt on your mouth. The apple pastry was crunchy on the outside and the apple jelly in the middle was flavorful. The coffee was nothing out of the ordinary but it was good. The attendant was friendly and quick. She made a few recommendations on other savory treats we can try next time. The shop itself is very cute and well kept. There's a few seats if you prefer to eat your treats here but it looks like most people take them to go. I look forward to my next visit.

Macarons (Coconut, Passion/Mango, Expresso, Pistachio, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut)
    Melissa Z.

Ordered: Macarons (Coconut, Passion/Mango, Pistachio, Expresso, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut), Pistachio Almond Dark Chocolate, Praliné Hazelnut Dark Chocolate, Passion/Mango Dark Chocolate I came here based on the raving reviews, but I truly don't understand the hype. The macrons are subpar at best. The flavors tasted very artificial and the macarons didn't have the classic chewy texture. I've tried a few macaron places in Boston and this one was definitely the most disappointing. The chocolates were slightly better, but not worth the price. Overall, wouldn't recommend as the quality is lacking.

    Almond croissant

Five stars? But of course! How could it be otherwise? A French patisserie, complete with French thé, candies, assorted yum yum, French chefs, French this and French that. All essentially for free (if you factor in the fact that you don't need the plane ticket and hotel costs of actually going to France!). A simple croissant has a light and shatteringly crispy crust. The individual quiche-tart is light as a cloud and overflowing with fresh flavor. The macarons? OMG. The colors dazzle the eyes as much as the flavors entrance the taste buds. Pro tip - clear your palate with water before taking a bite. Then close your eyes and let the flavors slowly unfurl. The currant and violet - so amazing. A concentrated punch of currant with the whisper of violet lightly rising up from the depths. The chocolate? Deep and rich - the mother lode of chocolate essence. You owe it to yourself to try their Thé Mariages Frerés. Ask for their recommendation and then go for it - you'll be happy you did. I had the Marco Polo with soy milk and honey crystals. Nothing to do with my insights - it's the way Yanis thought it went best. I wouldn't have guessed it but ... boom. Excellent call. Well worth a long drive.

    Fancy boxes

Unbelievable, as good as the best pastry shops in France. They put just the right amount of sugar; I don't like heavily sugared desserts they sell almost everywhere. These are refined desserts, perfectly executed. You can see people put their time, energy, skill and pride into creating these pastries and cakes. Yes, they are a bit on the expensive side, but I would rather save and order once a week from here than have many random desserts from other places. I cannot say anything about the shop and experience inside as we had our order delivered. Every time we are near Boston, we will make sure to get something from Praline. Thank you to the owners and pastry chefs for this perfection!

He shouted out that she had "contaminated" the drink and he would make a new one for the correct customer. This was all said in a loud, actorly voice so that everyone in the shop could know that He Was Displeased. Note, the "contamination" consisted of the woman a) holding the cup of hot chocolate and, b) walking to her table with it. On a previous occasion, he yelled at an older woman in her 90s because she needed to sit down on a chair while he was sweeping. He snidely told her that she should go outside if she needed to sit. Her confusion about the seating was understandable, because for some unknown reason the cafe needs to close a full hour before the bookshop (and they begin this process earlier even than that, by "helpfully" putting away the chairs and turning off the lights). I guess they sell some croissants and coffee, but honestly: who cares, given the above?

However, I was happy to find that there was a cafe in the back corner that opens in the mornings. So on the way to work, I tried out their cute cafe and got a pumpkin-spiced latte with almond milk. I will say that they lose points (in my books) just based on my personal preferences. First off, being a brewery, expect there to be a STRONG smell of beer. Even though I wasn't in there for long, I could still find myself getting a headache and not enjoying the strong smell. I'll also say that the service I received the morning I went wasn't the best, and the man who made my drink definitely did not want to be there. As I've mentioned in other reviews I've done, I rate places HEAVILY based on service and kindness.
