Really enjoyed our Saturday evening here. The bartender was amazing, awesome cocktails and good beer selection. The bread they bring out was great and the oysters were phenom. Made a reservation Friday afternoon and had no trouble getting in that evening. Service was excellent. Food was wonderful. We got fried blue crab claws that were fresh, crispy, and delicious. I got a blackened fish with lump crab over grits. Great flavor, fish was perfectly cooked. Fiance got the filet mignon with potatoes and subbed creamed spinach for asparagus. The filet was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It's a little loud, because sound echoes around the room, but otherwise a lovely atmosphere. We had the most superb meal at Que Sera (Tayloe's Oyster Bar) tonight! The oysters were amazing, fresh and full of flavor, the scallops were tender and delicious and the huge portion of key lime pie was the best! We thoroughly enjoyed the service too! Spending $100 on a meal (for myself and my 5 yr old) and leaving unhappy is the worst. I told both our server and the manager who stopped by that I couldn't eat my oyster salad because of the ketchup-like dressing (called red wine Roquefort on the menu) it was swimming in. Nothing was done to address the issue. I picked the oysters off of the top and the rest of the (untouched) salad was cleared without a word. I've worked in high-end restaurant management in NY and Raleigh/Durham for many years and ambivalent service (from a manager, no less!) frustrates me to no end. We never come in town without eating dinner at Tayloe's. It sits alongside the main restaurant, Que Sera. They share a menu. We always start with their amazingly fresh oysters. Logan is the "Oyster Dude" and is happy to answer questions and advise you based on your preferences. Next comes the beet salad. It is a generous amount of beets, orange slices,candied walnuts, blue cheese, and lettuce in a delicious vinaigrette. The specialty of the chef/owner is seafood so do yourself a favor and order the redfish from the menu or a seafood entree from the Special's menu. The scallops are always perfectly done and tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. You can choose a table or sit at the bar and dine. read more

One of our favorite spots in the greater Asheville area. The seafood and oysters are always super fresh. But get there early because they like to keep it that way so they run out of many dishes by the end of the night! I love a place that you know meat and seafood comes in fresh daily from local purveyors! The staff is amazing, not only do they know most people that walk in the door but also know they drinks, which makes it feel like a regular old Cheers! I would recommend a reservation since this place as become a hot spot and most locals have it as their go to. And don't miss $1 oyster nights!!! Black Mountain has restaurants comparable to Asheville in quality and vibe without the parking hassle and crowds. Carl Tayloe treated our rowdy party of 8 like we were family. The menu features southern seafood creations with a mountain twist (he was a football player for University of Alabama). Everything was excellent! The presentation and quality made the meal a fantastic value. The night we were there a jazz combo played standards. An incredible dining atmosphere. Wasn't sure where to eat for our last night in Black Mountain but happened upon this spot and so glad we found it! First of all the setting was exceptional housed in an old building refurbished with a nice vibe. High ceilings and tables approximately distanced for this Covid situation. Our server couldn't have been any better/nicer! We started with the raw oysters which were very fresh and very good! Had a nice brut to go with it. Then we had the soup de jour which was a Cauliflower bacon bisque with these wonderful Parmesan croutons..... absolutely Devine and spot on for fall. Then we ordered two different salads as we wanted to eat light and they couldn't of been more different but equally good. One had charred pears and blackberries with this wonderful Vinaigrette and blue cheese. The other was a spinach salad with fried oysters and a red Roquefort dressing. Amazing!! The wine pairings were very good. Then finished with a chocolate toffee mouse and a nice port. Can't wait to return!! Five stars read more

Went for my birthday on a Friday evening without any reservations. Table was ready immediately. Everything was delicious. I started with grilled octopus salad which is not something you see a lot in menus and I am thankful for that! I had the trout with corn fritters and to end the night a most delicious slice of key lime pie. Everything was excellent!!! We were staying in a local B&B and I highly recommended this place to the other guests at the breakfast table. read more

Happened to be staying in Black Mountain while passing through on business. I found Que Sera based on Yelp reviews and my experience was great. It is a short walk from new motel and the setting, service, and ambience were all fantastic, outdone only by my meal. I started with soup of the day (corn, shrimp, and jalapeno chowder) and had the Redfish Hal as entree. Que Sera is not inexpensive, but the freshness of the ingredients and flawless preparation and presentation definitely delivered a dining experience well worth the money. read more

Saturday night June 11 8 pm a Black Mountain pizza joint (you can figure it out) "lost" our reservation for 30. A quick phone call to Que Sera and they took us in! The staff was fantastic, the meals and drinks appeared quickly and were wonderful. Get some oysters, raw or cornmeal-fried, and whatever else you fancy. Not to be missed! read more

Best meal of our week vacation! We ordered from the daily specials board-tomato and spinach trout, which was fantastic. The seafood carbonara risotto was excellent. Appetizer of bacon wrapped fig was yummy. Desserts were first rate-bread pudding and a piece of coconut pineapple macadamia pie. Waiter was knowledgeable about wines and food. It's the best food in Black Mountain! It's a great place for a nice night out on the town. Fresh vegetables, meat cooked just right (pork chops and trout), attentive staff and incredible desserts. I only have one complaint...I have nothing to complain about! Everything we ate was delicious: the wedge salad, redfish and trout almandine entrees, finishing with the chocolate-toffee mousse...good Lord! That mousse was ridiculously yummy! We're local and have enjoyed Que Sera's Sunday brunch for many years. This week, we made a reservation for 1 p.m. for a party of two and specified in the bar area since the restaurant is too noisy. We arrived at one and were told that no tables were available and that it would be at least a 30 minute wait. We left and as we were leaving, I spied an empty table in the bar area. Great food but a crappy way to run a restaurant, especially since we have to make a 30 minute drive to get there. read more
