Before the work began, we agreed that both homes would receive 200-amp electrical panels. After the installation was completed, I gathered the documentation needed to apply for the Southern California Edison rebate program and discovered that one home had a 200-amp panel while the other only had a 125-amp panel. This was not what we had agreed upon, yet I was invoiced based on the understanding that both homes would receive 200-amp panels. When I questioned Juan about the discrepancy, he said he was trying to save me money and that 125A is sufficient enough for my home, although my house has more square footage than the other house. However, I felt misled because the work performed did not match our agreement, and this was never communicated or approved by me before the installation. To make matters worse, Southern California Edison denied my rebate application because the installation was completed as a dual-panel configuration rather than a single-panel upgrade. Juan had told me that the city required a dual-panel installation, but after speaking directly with the city, I was informed that this is not true. The city explained that a single-panel installation is allowed but is subject to stricter requirements. Granted my properties needed much electrical work done, overall, while Juan was courteous, I was disappointed by the lack of communication, the differences between what was promised and what was installed, and the financial impact of not qualifying for the expected rebate.
