I usually stay at Quality Inn when traveling. Whiteville is a small down with only two hotels. It just seems like it should take better care of the maintenance of its properties. I stayed the first time in September , 2024, no problems. The room seem to be newly renovated. On Oct. 12, 2024, a different story. The room was quite different, carpet dirty, bathroom door inside bathroom busted and outside of same door mirror cracked. I took pictures and brought it to the attention of the front desk. I was given a copy of the report. The first stay was on the 1st floor and the 2nd stay was on the 2nd floor, which had no elevator. The price for what I got was Ridiculous. I will never stay there again. I see since I stayed their price went up. The staff is the most friendly and kind people. Everyone so respectful and helpful. read more

This place is way over priced for quality. There is no way these rooms actually get cleaned! It won't even let me post more than 10 photos on here. There was what looked like Cheetos stains on the bed when we checked upon arriving (I checked the reviews after I booked it) the bedding was all stained, had hairs on it, trash behind the bed, live spiders living in a web in the tub, holes in the wall, mold/mildew everywhere, paint separated from the wall peeling, the vents were covered in dust, shower drain had lots of hair in it, no sink stopper, coffee making looked gross on the inside. We stayed in July 2019 for one night in room 103 which reeked like mold and had visible mildew in the bathroom. Pillows and bedcoverings were slightly damp to the touch upon entering the room the first time. When I brought the front desk down to the room I was told they got new owners 2 years ago and had replaced the wood furniture but that the curtains and carpets had yet to be replaced (no kidding), which implies that they know exactly why the room smelled moldy. I told them they needed to take the room offline and not put anyone else in there that very same day and they ignored me and pleaded ignorance. Lights on the wall between our two queen beds did not work. They also refused to give even a portion of our money back on this $200 room because we booked through Expedia. I had a splitting headache in the morning after breathing that in for a night and I don't have any allergies to anything like mold... good luck to you if you do. Keep driving. read more

Bring Lysol and plenty of it. This is the besT hotel Whiteville has to often and its the pits. Old, outdated, musty, and in desperate need of new furniture, carpet, etc. You'll call the front desk, they'll promise to bring light bulbs (WHY DO I NEED TO ASK FOR LIGHT BULBS), but they won't bring the bulbs. The lampshades are disgusting and ancient. The furniture is chipped and untouchable. If possible, stay in Lumberton, NC. Again, BRING YOUR LYSOL IF STAYING AT THE QUALITY INN, WHITEVILLE!!! read more

This hotel is now a Quality Inn. ***** The staff was super nice here but... It was sort of an emergency stop, having left the beach to escape Sandy but not being able to drive all the way home due to fatigue. 1. At check-in, I was asked to initial and sign a form that said: - the hotel was 100% smoke free and smoking in a guest room would result in a cleaning fee of $150. (I noticed some rooms had non-smoking emblems on the doors and some did not. I also noticed a smell of some sort of smoke emanating from one of the rooms near the far end of the hallway, where our room would have been had I not requested a room closer to the door leading to the stairway. It made sense, with us carrying seven or eight bags upstairs...) - Pets not allowed and evidence of a pet in a room would result in a cleaning fee of $250. (Not sure what constituted "evidence" but we have no pets so...) - Quality Inn of Whiteville is not responsible for "lost" items and/or valuables. Please store in a safe place. (Quotation marks mine. This made me wonder if there had been problems with theft at the hotel...) - I agree that my liability for this bill is not waived and agree to be held personally liable in the event that the indicated person , company, or association fails to pay the full amount of these charges. 2. The room LOOKED nice but, our room at the beach was nicer (see full details below) and $10 less per night. 3. The parking lot is dark. Very few lights and not spaced well. It seems everyone wanted to park where their car could be seen, which is my only explanation for why someone thought it prudent to squeeze their Prius in the space between my car and a brick wall, causing me to have to squeeze into my car so I wouldn't hit their car when I opened my car door. 4. This hotel has two floors and no elevator. They do have a luggage cart but try getting it up a staircase. (We didn't think it would be smart to leave anything in our back seat so we each dragged several bags up the winding staircase leading to the second floor. 5. The handle on the outside of our room door appeared off kilter but when I tried to open it by turning the knob and pushing it with my hip, the door didn't budge so I thought it would be okay for us to sleep in the room. 6. After we got settled in, we noticed how loudly we could hear noises in the hallway. Voices sounded almost like they were in the room with us, we could hear doors closing, and if a door slammed, the wall that my headboard was on shook. (I was sitting against it.) I got up to make sure our door really was securely shut. It was. Then I noticed a gap between the floor and the bottom of the door. I stuffed a towel there, hoping to quell some of the noise. In the morning I noticed that there also appeared to be a substantial gap between the hinge side of the door and the wall. (Which explained why we still heard people talking after I stuffed the towel in the gap.) 7. When I grabbed a wash cloth to wash my face, I noticed it had a sour odor, like it had been wet and not properly dried until it was already mildewing. Yuck. 8. During my bed bug inspection, I also noticed an area of the carpet that seemed to have a old vomit smell... (Thankfully It wasn't a very strong odor and I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been down on my knees examining seams in the mattress, box spring, and the chair next to the bed.) 9. The drapes in the room did not close, only the sheers. Very uncomfortable considering we were two unaccompanied females in a well-lit room facing a dark area outside. Thankfully my Girl Scout training usually keeps me prepared for such occurrences. I pulled out of of the flat sheets and binder clips I had taken to the beach and improvised an opaque drape to cover the opening between the room's drapes. 10. When I logged onto the hotel's wi-fi, I was surprised at what I read. The basic wi-fi was free and there was a statement that said I could upgrade to a faster speed if I wanted to pay for it. Wow. How tacky. I have stayed in Econo Lodges and Red Roof Inns and gotten high speed internet included in the room rate. I think a Quality Inn could live up to its name and do better. 11. The breakfast was good and perhaps the reason for the room rate. Vittles consisted of: bagels, bread, biscuits, cold cereal, scrambled eggs (tasted real, not powdered), bacon, yogurt, boiled eggs, milk (regular and 2%), coffee (regular and decaf), tea, and freshly made waffles. We had a terrible experience. We were in town for a wedding. There was some sort of "reunion" or party also taking place at this hotel. They basically treated the hotel like it was Spring Break/Freaknik. People were walking up and down the hallways with open containers, screaming, yelling, music blasting at midnight. We notified the front desk at 10:50pm. Spoke with employees twice. And ended up calling the local police department. I realize it's not the hotel's fault. It's the irresponsible individuals who felt entitled to disrespecting the other guests, hotel and staff. But for everyone else who also paid to stay here it was totally disappointing. read more

Ok, so I traveled down to this area to stay with a friend this weekend and I must say NEVER AGAIN will I stay in this old/run down hotel unless they either do a FULL renovation or tear it down & build another one in it's place. The room was decent enough where I felt ok with staying there for the night (since it was only one night), no bugs that I seen crawling or laying around & they did include WiFi and breakfast. The breakfast was one of the best amenities this place offered. Menu: bagels, bread, biscuits, cold cereal, scrambled eggs (tasted real, not powdered), bacon, yogurt, boiled eggs, milk (regular and 2%), coffee (regular and decaf), tea, and freshly made waffles. There was also a toaster for the bagels and bread. So we checked in around 4:30ish and figured it's still time to go swimming, so we went and got the kids changed (as well as ourselves) walked to the awkwardly placed swimming pool, and the first impression as we started to walk into the pool area was "Ugh, is this it!?!??!?" we opened the creepy door and walked in... the pool was empty and it was VERY clear as to why! The water was cloudy and had bugs and debri floating along the top and some at the bottom, the area surrounding the pool looked VERY unkept like no one swept since the winter & the cleaning tools were just laying around (dangerous for kids to be around). We complained to the lady at the desk who said she would go check it out, but never got back to us regarding it. The next day I went to check it out and to take pictures and it still looked the same minus the particles floating at the top. The other down fall IMO was how much noise you can hear of folks walking by or above... it was the worst!! Having infants who can startle easily made for a restless night due to that. read more

This hotel is horrible. It's right between two industrial Bldgs, the staff isn't always at the front desk, it's old, there is no elevator, there are several bird cages as decor with no birds...I could go on...in much need of renovation. read more

Pulled off route 74 and grabbed a room in Whiteville. There's a construction site next door. Was able to get a 2queen room for 79.99 - located on 2nd floor. There is no elevator however we were only staying one night so bringing a small suitcase up one flight wasn't bad. The girl at the front desk was cheerful. New carpeting up the stairs that continued into hallway. Room was clean and smelled fresh furnishings were new. New large flatscreen as well. Room had fridge and microwave. Bed was comfortable, linens clean and crisp. Bathroom was clean but the shower curtain was stained. This place is fine for an overnighter. They offered hot breakfast the next morning but just opted for coffee. read more

This motel is desperate need of a remodel. We stayed here a few weeks after hurricane Florence. The rooms showed signs of flood damage. The pullout couch was the size of a twin bed and the comforter for the pullout bed was filthy. Add to that the chair had stains on it. It's a shame that was our only option while we were visiting my mom in the hospital. Oh and they had roaches too. read more

Beware of bed bugs! I had to be moved to 4 rooms in 2 days. I was bitten in multiple places on my face, arms, hand and leg. In my third room I killed a bed bug on the sheets. Moved out the next day. read more

We were grossly overcharged and upon calling the hotel to straighten out this issue we were repeatedly put on hold, not called back, and generally ignored. How the manager got a job in customer service is beyond comprehension. The only positive aspect of our experience is knowing that we will never again stay at this hotel despite our frequent trips to the area to visit family. read more
