Let me be perfectly clear by saying this is the first time I can give a perfect score to anyone or…read moreany place. I've stayed in Ritz that bored me compared to this opulent experience at the Rosewood Manor. My husband and I stumbled across Rosewood while looking for a way to celebrate our anniversary and set off some fireworks in our relationship. Thank goodness we found Gary. Driving up to a dimly lit paradise at sunset, greeted by a glass of wine and a wonderful ray of sunshine, Donna, was a good start. We were exhausted and hadn't been having a good week. The mood changed instantly when arriving. The atmosphere is flawless. You feel at home, except better. The house is breathtaking. Gary, the owner, is a brilliant and accommodating host. His attention to detail pulls together the whole experience. Not only is it a remarkable home to begin with, but the way it has been dressed is the key. You can have a beautiful home and a lot of money...and still have no taste. Gary has impeccable taste. Now when it comes to his precious antiques, an outstanding collection of marvelous artwork and to top it all off, he's a gourmet chef... it's safe to say he knows what he's doing. He's also a walking encyclopedia. Our stay was extended due to car trouble. Thank you, Jesus. Gary continued to accommodate us by letting us stay two more unexpected nights, and helped us find a mechanic. He cooked multiple breathtaking meals, that we are still craving. He actually changed breakfast for us in our home. Guests now ask us where we got all these amazing ideas. We of course say "Gary." After a day of great conversation, and lounging by the pool, we would go to sleep in the most comfortable bed my husband and I have ever slept in. Every night we would say "something has got to happen... it can't all be perfect." The following evening Gary and Donna made us an exquisite anniversary dinner. Finally, I said "it's all perfect." Around every corner is a surprise, and a pleasant one at that. There's always something new to learn or a story to be heard. My family and I are already planning a summer trip to go visit Dr. Chef and Miss Donna. While I did take several photos, they aren't photos I would post. You need to go see for yourself how truly magnetic and affluent a weekend away can be. I would rather drive hours out of my way to stay here, than at any hotel. On a scale of one to ten, Rosewood Manor is a strong one billion.

Madison house is a gorgeous Victorian gem, decorated in appropriate era furniture and art, this house is lovely. It is a little worse for wear, but honestly I'd rather stay here than any of the chains. We stayed in the king room without our own tv. Most rooms are queen rooms, but all have 4 poster beds and lovely decorating. The pool and the porch. Wrap around porch was lovely place in the morning. The pool is delightful and surrounded by plants everywhere. Breakfast was simple and delicious. I asked for scrambed eggs, and they came fluffy with cheese. Perfectly crisp bacon, toast was lovely, and the banana nut muffin was quite good. The coffee is AWESOME! The proprietor is a lovely woman who is friendly and delightful.

Of course the kitchen is gourmet country chic, and the pool is a more modern touch, but the classic architecture and artwork that adorn the mini mansion coupled with the destination's crown jewel, Mrs. Yvonne, make it a wonderful place to relax, rest, and be at ease. Mrs. Yvonne is a classic southern woman with a welcoming "down-home" demeanor. She's a pleasure to chat with, if that's your thing, and a good cook to boot! It was nice to take a moment to talk to her and it did my heart good in the wake of losing my dad. We are sure to return to such a charming place!

I received an email inviting me to a home cooked meal instead of eating out on the town. A welcome change from a normal week spent on the road. The owners were actually present to watch the Clemson vs Auburn game and brought over the meal for the guests to indulge. It was wonderful and brought the guests together in a communal fashion which would never be experienced in a hotel atmosphere. It was during the week days so everyone there was on business and thankful for the meal because it was a balmy 30-something degrees outside. The rooms are simple yet beautiful. Each room (I've only stayed in two of them) has cable TV, a small desk, bed, end table, sitting chair, private bath, and a closet. The kitchen is stocked to the gills and accessible anytime. The common areas are kept neat and tidy and there's a countertop Keurig for all of your coffee and tea needs. Fresh fruit and less healthful snacks are also supplied in the kitchen. I've stayed several times on business and will likely return one year for the Sandblast Rally race which is a popular local attractions for off-road racing enthusiasts. If you stay here, be certain to dine at the River's Edge restaurant. Unexpectedly phenomenal fare.
