I had never been to Florence before, but it looks like a small town going through a bit of a Renaissance, so we stayed the night while traveling along the east coast. I'm very glad we found the Hyatt Place as a hub for our stay. We arrived mid afternoon, right around check in time and we're quickly greeted at the front desk. Is a Hyatt Discoverist member, was provided some bottled water and snacks - a nice touch. We were assigned our room, and notified about the parking. Self parking is $5 per day, and is located across the street from the hotel. A helpful tip would be to unload baggage before parking if you have any heavy/large suitcases. While the walk is just a couple of hundred yards, it may be difficult on an especially hot or rainy day. After check-in, we went to the room which was the standard Hyatt Place layout - a comfortable bed with a reasonably sized TV, a small sofa and functional bathroom.. I enjoyed the water pressure and temperature of the shower. The next morning, we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast with eggs, bacon, fruit and coffee. The lobby itself is large and beautifully appointed, with a full business center and pods for individuals to work. The hotel location is in the center of Florence, a relatively small/walkable downtown area with restaurants and shopping. Overall, a modern hotel, comfortable room, friendly staff, and good location, all at a reasonable price. read more

We were driving from Washington DC to Florida and stopped in Florence for the night. My husband booked this hotel on points and it was a wonderful experience. It is located downtown on the main street. The lobby is spacious and nicely decorated. There is also a nice business center in the lobby. The room was clean and comfortable. This was an affordable and comfortable hotel with a convenient location. Our family of three stopped over for one night, and this hotel had everything we needed. The room was clean and spacious. The towels and sheets were soft and the beds were comfortable. There was a basic free breakfast available. Parking is free and located about a block away so you will want to unload your items in front of the hotel. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when stopping in Florence. read more

What's good: - Location is good if you want to explore the city. - Room is ALMOST clean and almost meets other Hyatt standards. - 2nd floor lobby looks like a motel lobby but did have ice maker. What's bad: - No breakfast !! - Option for full cost Starbucks coffee that is not even close to the quality. (see pic yourself) - Terrace was locked, for event that had to happen next week. (front desk confirmed it should be used for Wed-Thursday) But no actual work/prep was being done. - Our room windows were not isolated well, cold wind/air was coming in. - Parking is about 1-2 blocks away from hotel. This is a great hotel location. They have been renovating/regingerfying the downtown area. Lots to do in this area. We didn't have much time to explore. But they have the art center, shopping, many restaurants (including a rooftop) and a little artisan chocolate shop within walking distance. The hotel has a bar on the first floor that has a page of food selections. They are opened 3-11. They have an outdoor pool and a small decent gym. Always appreciate when there are at least some free weights. So that's good. The rooms are average size and the price is comparable with the others on the interstate side of town. The rooms are clean. But it's the little things. The door wouldn't lock from the inside. It's a secondary lock. Not a big deal. The window blinds/shades were off their track. We put them back in. Stayed here for a business trip. Parking is about a block away, although gated it still allows people to get in the lot. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the hotel is really close to the train tracks and the train horn makes it difficult to sleep. I thought I would receive housekeeping services to freshen the room during my stay, but nobody came by. Grabbed a Cobb salad for dinner from the hotel restaurant, which is really just ordering from the bar. I had to wait for the manager and bartender to stop flirting with a customer to order. Cobb salad was nothing to write home about. Sorry Hyatt you missed the mark on this visit. read more

The exterior of the building and lobby look absolutely amazing. Very fresh modern and clean. That all changed when the doors to the elevator opened up on the fourth floor. Carpeting and wallpaper are very old and worn looking. Every door and door frame had the same type of damage. It looked to me like this was caused by something they had to bring in or out of each of the rooms. No repairs have been done so it is very obvious. Room had a stale odor that was tolerable after the first couple minutes. Other than that, location was excellent, but two stars below and I would have expected from a Hyatt. read more

Nice small hotel, in the heart of Florence; right off the highway (I95), and close to several restaurants, so perfect for a night of rest in this quaint town! The hotel is clean, accommodating, and pet friendly. Found the staff to be very nice and welcoming, and the room was both clean and moderately priced. There is a lovely bar downstairs (right when you walk into the hotel), and a rooftop on the second floor (great for people watching over the city). I would stay here again if I was passing through Florence. read more

However, they do not have any syrup with their breakfast and said that they will not receive any for another month. We ended up at this hotel as a result of having to leave our beach vacation due to a mandatory evacuation. Finding pet friendly hotels that are on the nice side can be difficult. Sorry, but I just dont feel safe and secure at a Super 8, or that I could leave my dog there for any length of time. I was impressed with our overall experience at the Hyatt Place. We had a King Suite and it was so huge. The bathroom has 2 entrances, since the sofa in the sitting room can pull out to a bed. Half of the bathroom is just empty space. They should have made it a half bath on the sitting room side with a door in between that and the full master bath for shower access. The only thing missing from the room was a nice written directory of services. What time breakfast is, what all is available in the grab and go area, the menu of items you can call down to be made and pick up, where to take your dogs near the hotel for potty breaks, etc. Breakfast was a good mix of hot and cold items, and changes a little every day. Everyone we interacted with for the most part was very nice and helpful. The only issue we had was we didn't know what time breakfast was available. The first morning we got downstairs around 9:20am, got some cereal and juice to start. The breakfast attendant was cleaning up plates as people left, asked how breakfast was, and walked away. Not a minute passed before my husband got up to go get some hot items and the same attendant said breakfast was now over. A heads up would have been nice. But other than that it was a great experience and I would definitely remember Florence, SC as our back up for beach vacations. read more

Less than stellar. While the hotel is new and clean, that is all it has to offer. There are no microwaves in the room, only one in the common area for all guests to share. The "breakfast" provided in the mornings is extremily limited with the only access to breakfast beverages being to buy them separate at a high price. Due to what I suspect to be the building's design, cellular service is patchy at best, so one would expect to use the in-house WiFi however it is excruciatingly slow. If one is expecting to stay more than a single night, I would strongly recommend looking into other lodging options. read more

Great Hotel in downtown Florence. The AGM Amanda was very helpful and answered all my questions about parking. The parking in the area is slim. A new hotel and such bad management. We traveled from Florida to NJ and booked this hotel through Hotel.com and payed by pay pal. Coming in the man took 30 min just to check us in as he couldn't find our reservation. I had my credit card info taken for Incidentals. Finally getting into the room I notice the shower soap holder was dirty and one of the window shades did not work. We were in room 407. We checked out and I asked for my ledger, but the lady said Everything is fine and it will be emailed to me. I though they had my info from hotel.com so didn't think nothing of it until on our way home I noticed three charges to my credit card. They charged me for the hotel twice and I have talked to them already 5 time and non of them know what they are doing and what is going on. I can't get in touch with corporate as I was told there is no corporate by Jen Suarez from reservation department in central Maryland. She did tell me that they can not see any other charges on their account and that I need to callback and speak with billing department that never answers their phone so they can explain my charges. Omg. This is hell. Don't go there and don't give them your credit card info. Beautiful Hotel seems fair new. I don't like staying in hotels, I never feel comfortable. Surprisingly the room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Bed and pillows were comfy. I was glad the room had a nice seating area wit's a couch and large foot rest. I hate laying in bed, before it is time to go to bed. Bathroom is large and it was very clean. I noticed there was a hairdryer under the sink for your use. Also coffeemaker with coffee, small refrigerator. No microwave in room but there is one in the breakfast are in the lobby. Plenty of nice quiet areas to sit and talk. There is also a bar near the lobby. They do have places to sit outside also. The parking is across the street and you can only access with a room key. So pull up out front and check in First. This hotel is located downtown there are a few restaurants within walking distance. We ate at a Mexican restaurant, it was very good. In the morning we ate the breakfast that was offered. They had hot and cold items, fruit, breads, coffee and juices. it is not Cracker Barrel but it was good and there was plenty.
