The manager checks us in to a dirty and torn up room. Next morning, spoke to the manager again who agreed that our room was not up to standard and agreed a new room when was available, my husband inspected and accepted. Before leaving checkin my husband showing support for his professional handling of the situation, shook his hand which afterwards the manager found offensive. He then show up at the old room with another male worker from his facility to tell us, he cancelled our room reservation our money was no good to him and to leave. Stayed one night here while driving north. I booked a king non-smoking room on a Friday night for $74 online. When I showed up, the woman initially said she didn't have any king non-smoking rooms available, but then said she did and sent me to a first floor room at the far end of another building. This is a traditional motel with direct entry from outside to the rooms. There was a guy just standing around in the parking lot outside the room when I drove down there from the lobby (there seemed to be a fair amount of dubious activity going on). The room was clean, though, and everything worked as it should. The only complaint was that while there were some filmy white drapes to draw across the window which (hopefully) blocked a clear view in, there was no dark or blackout curtain. So when the sun rose, the room was super bright -- don't plan on sleeping late. And as a couple other reviewers mentioned, there is a somewhat busy train line very close by, so if you're a light sleeper you will be woken up a couple times during the night. There was no breakfast or coffee offered during the pandemic, but there are lots of restaurants and stores nearby. You can do (and I have done) a lot worse for a place to sleep off 95, though this is more in the midrange price point, so you're getting what you pay for. read more

Not a place I would ever stop again. We chose this over a local Holiday Inn Express because normally BW are nice, clean with a comfortable mattress. Not this one. This place was obviously a different brand until sometime recently because the child size toilet and wire coil mattresses are not up to the brand BW us supposed to meet. DIRTY TOO. A dirty napkin in the ice bucket, slimey/grungy door and shower. Fridge broken too, so couldn't chill our drinks for hitting the road the next day. read more

The pool had some sharp edges at the bottom and my kids got some small cuts on their feet. Didn't stop them from swimming. Breakfast wasn't that great but enough to hold us over for our drive. Very solid truck stop hotel. Good for road trippers. It's motel-style, meaning the doors to the rooms have direct access to the parking lot. If you don't mind that then I suspect you will like this Best Western as I'm almost certain it has been recently renovated and refurbished. It was very clean and the furniture was brand spanking' new. I didn't try their breakfast. Instead we opted for a fast, unhealthy breakfast at the Krispy Kreme down the road. Lost a star because the woman who checked me in looked as though she wished I wasn't staying with them. Seemed pretty unfriendly even when I tried to be cheerful. Nope. We paid $130 for a very basic, not very clean room. Granted, we are traveling with a dog, but the accommodations were substandard. We were on the second floor and the outdoor stairway was without lights, making for treacherous conditions when negotiating luggage and a dog on a leash. The complimentary breakfast was horrendous, white bread, stale cereal, lukewarm coffee and the table had crumbs from an earlier diner. I really wish I had read the reviews prior to making reservations. Bedbugs!?!? read more

Hey everybody BED BUGS. Warning BED BUGS. We stayed at this best western in March 2019. We have 2 rooms both with Bed Bugs. The hotel was at full capacity and at 2am we had our room changed to a smoking room which is all they had available. There was so much smoke smell but nothing else we could do. Even though I have respiratory problems it was better than staying with the bed bugs. Our other guest decided to tough it out because they were checking out the next day. When the other guest checked into there room the temperature was about 100 in Florence, SC on a day that the temperature was 70. I found out from a friend if you go to a hotel and they have the heat blasting that's a good indication that there are bed bugs. It's believed that the heat kills them. BUYERS BEWARE! read more

For the price, I was very surprised at the quality of this Best Western. I've been to a few of them that are shoddy. I paid $96 total with a triple A discount and a pet fee for my dog, I think the pet fee was $15. By comparison the Residence in town, only other place that allows pets, charges a $100 pet fee. Room was big, there was a couch with a coffee table and a computer desk/chair also. The king size bed was comfortable enough, nothing special, but the oddest part was the pillows. There was about six of them on the bed, all the size of a throw pillow, no actual normal sized bed pillows. Bathroom was a tight fit but shower got hot fast and was clean. Sinks and mirror are on the outside from the toilet and shower, seemed clean enough also. Like usual there was an "HDTV", which is just a wide screen TV that's not actually HD. Overall I had a good experience here, I'd go here again. Also there is a Ruby Tuesday's within the same parking lot in walking distance of pretty much any room if you want. read more

Oh myG-d I laid down on the bed to read after pulling off the burrito cover which had a disgusting stain and noticed gross dried stains dripping down the night table. We are already unpacked after driving over 600 miles today or I would have demanded a different room. I proceeded to smell the sheets to make sure they were changed I think they were. The room was decorated nicely but the disgusting stain factors have turned me off to this BW. I've already given up on Quality Inns. Next I'll try the Hampton Inn but tonight that was sold out. We reached out to BW Corp. along with the hotel manager in Florence SC in an attempt to bring to a satisfactory resolution to refund all charges against credit card made on 5/10/21 without success. This leads us to make a firm decision to avoid staying at any BW in the future without checking the reviews on YELP. There are many high quality hotel chains that honestly view the customer as important for business and believe that total customer satisfaction is of utmost importance as word of mouth helps increase their occupancy rate. If you are looking for a quality stay in Florence, avoid the BW at all cost as in fact the hotel just next to the BW is less expensive, cleaner, has a full lobby in operation, parking area is better lit and the clerks behind the desk are extremely helpful. I might also add that the particle hotel I reference has the manager's name posted clearly and business cards are made available to contact the Hotel manager directly. There is also no damage fee added to the charge for those living more than 30 miles from the hotel. We live in South Florida so no damage fee added therefore we did not have to be concerned about being charged for existing damage. In closing, BW Corp. does seem to care about customer satisfaction, but as they said, they really have no control over the independent hotels representing Best Western chain. Then the hotel hit you for a $100.00 security deposit in case you cause damage to the room during your rest stop. ABSOLUTELY HORRID! (don't know if I can post photos or how to on yelp, I never leave reviews, but there are photos of the bed bugs we found on trip adviser) Listen, this hotel is what it is. It's a half way stop for travelers, convienent to the gas station, the Ruby Tuesday, and the highway, so we don't expect it to be a five star resort. HOWEVER, we have stayed here before on our way from New York to Florida, and this was the absolute worst! Aside from the fact the rooms were never deep cleaned and you have your sketchy characters in the parking lot that the hotel does NOTHING about, our most recent stay on 5/23/2018 revealed a disgusting bed bug infestation! We discovered them all over both of the beds in my family's room, blood stains and fecal matter on the sheets to top it off! If I wanted to sleep with bugs and parasites I would sleep outside. When we tried to phone the front desk our phone didn't work, lovely. We had to call the front desk off of my fathers cell phone, and when we told them our room was crawling with bed bugs, the staff was not surprised at all! DISGRACEFUL. The only thing they did right was not fight with us when we told them we refused to pay for the room, they would have lost if they did. They should be shut down until they get their disgusting pest problems under control and refund everyone who has ever stayed there. This place is absolutely disgusting and needs to be inspected before they even think about charging another guest. We stopped there yesterday just to rest a little at night so we could resume our driving back home. We did a check in around 8pm, went to eat something and back to the room at 11pm to sleep a little. We woke up at 3:30 in the morning and guess... big surprise! We got robbed. We left our suitcases in the car because we always do it, without a problem. We called the cops and everything and he was really nice! But no help from the hotel staff! NONE!!!! Still waiting at least a phone call from the management and nothing!!!! This is the worst hotel I've stayed in my life and that includes 1 star dives in Cambodia and Mexico. All of the negative reviews about mold and parasites and the overall condition of the nasty dirty rooms are absolutely true. The positive reviews are lies. Florence itself is a crimey hell hole. We did a quick overnight stay in the middle of the 2020 schitstorm that made travel up the east coast problematic. 1) it is a Best Western, not the Beverly Hills Hilton... go in with reasonable expectations and you'll be fine. 2)Room was clean, everything worked, no upcharge or prohibitions on dogs 3) The staff was amazing, especially Rosalind on check in, and Taylor on check out. Now the down side, and it didn't bother me but there is a rail line in close proximity and a train did go by in the middle of the night. read more

Stayed here with our 2 dogs--it's a sketchy side of town but the parking lot is well lit and there was just enough green space for the dogs to relieve themselves. We had to settle for a smoking room, but it did not smell awful and the room seemed clean. Interior, run down. As someone else said, the pillows are weird enough that you may want to bring one in from the car. Total bill for a king room, 135.00. The two stars is because I wasn't at all worried about bedbugs--and would stay here again if it was my only option--but I wasn't interested in hanging around longer than I had to. read more

We are traveling through to FL and stayed here for the night with our Jack Russell. The front desk staff was very nice and even gave us some complimentary dog treats at check in. I reserved online so check in took all of 120 seconds. Our room is very clean with plenty of towels. The ac was running when we arrived which was extra pleasant as it was about 80 degrees outside. Enjoyed the free wifi and caught up on my email while watching tv. Ok it's"s a tube TV but who really cares as long as it works and with Internet access you can easily watch shows or movies online on your flat screen device. Got a good night's sleep in the firm but not hard extra thick mattress with 4 fluffy pillows. I have to plug the shower too. I am relatively tall and in the last decade have found that the travel industry believe the average American is about 5 feet tall so I have to bend down to wash my hair. Not a big deal but any shower that sits high as this one does gets extra points from me. The included breakfast is better than most. Everything is fresh and there are plenty of options from biscuits and gravy to bagels to yogurt and fresh fruit. Something for everyone and it is available until 10 am. As far as pet friendly goes this one is better than most. There are plenty of grassy areas in the immediate vicinity to safely walk your dog on a leash and we were made to feel that our pet was truly welcome, no inspections, no discussions of the mess policy, just a smile and dog treats. Pet owners should note that pet friendly is generally a misnomer so finding a place that truly is friendly is a big deal. We will stay here again should we find ourselves in the area. read more

After a threat to call the manger , they gave us a room in a section that had two prostitutes outside of it and customers waiting. We opened the door with the key they gave us and someone was already in the room "waiting" on someone! This is not a safe place and definitely not a place to take family. This was by far the nicest and cleanest hotel/motel type place I've ever visited. We always have a hard time finding places to stay overnight with our dog while we're on the road. Most dog-friendly places are old, rundown, and you get the feeling that bed bugs are marching their way into your hair, clothing, and luggage while you're in the room, only to ruin your life later on. Not so at this Best Western! The room was super clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've seen, even compared to higher-end hotels. There was even an outdoor pool! I would definitely recommend staying here to rest up before continuing on a long road trip along I-95. read more

I was stopping through late at night on a long drive. They gave me a King suite on the first floor, handicapped which was fine by me since I was looking to crash and shower before hitting the road. I was concerned that my car might get broken into because it wasn't the nicest parking lot area, but nothing bad happened. Breakfast was surprisingly good in the morning, decent variety and I was able to grab fruit to go. Bed was comfy and I slept like a rock. Stay there on 8/25/16 after leaving the Baymont Inn because of bed bugs. It was late and we were tried, the front desk allow us to check the room, before checking in. It was nice and clean, comfortable bed and pillows. They have free Wi-Fi and a very friendly staff! They have a free breakfast, which has hard boil eggs, sausage biscuits, yogurt, waffles, juices, coffee, bagels, toast, cereal, biscuit and gravy, and more. It was great start to your day, spend a little more in room and save on the breakfast. A/C was good and cool, the water pressure was spot on. I would stay there again. read more

I checked in just before 10pm. Had to wait several minutes before a front desk clerk walked in. She was polite and helpful. Only smoking rooms were available but didn't matter. I Was able to get a ground floor room and fortunately there was and empty parking space open right in front of my room door. Especially ad the only other spaces were a little farther down the end if the lot. The room doors opening to the outside lot and my car close was convenient getting in and out of the room. I highly recommend one use the peep hole and be sure who you answer the door to. The ac was on full blast upon entering. Room was clean although the bathroom was cleaned there were three stray hairs on the bathroom floor and showed lack of attention to detail far as cleaning but that was the only major incident I noticed. The refrigerator was clean but had a fast food beverage cup in it that was not discarded. There is a small pool with some seating and a table best it. I didn't swim but it look like it would be nice for kids looking to cool off. I have a feeling the non smoking rooms may be nicer. The bed cover had a small burn hole in it. There were plenty of towels for me and soaps and shampoos. The heat lamp in the bathroom felt good. There was a flat screen Samsung tv. The ice machine worked well in the building I was in. The free breakfast was nice. Lots to eat and at Sunday 830 hardly anyone there and no waiting. People can make their own waffles. Cereals. Yogurt. Pastries. Milk. Coffee. Not sure if it was reg or decaf. Didn't say on the machine. I believe I saw a security guard in a truck driving around the parking lot before I went to sleep. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Good experience there and glad i stopped to rest for the night. I would recommend this hotel. Had a wonderful stay here at reasonable rate, and AAA discount was given. Newly renovated in March 2016, room was clean with plenty of pillows, good AC, and continental breakfast. Front desk staff was very friendly and professional, and the property manager, Christina, was welcoming and went out of her way to greet guests and make sure they had whatever was needed. This property has a high occupancy rate, so be sure to reserve a room in advance while on the road. We will return! read more

I stayed at this hotel on March 13,2019. I awoken with numerous bites on my arms. As we were continuing to drive south, bites appeared on my leg and face and started to swell. The next morning , my eye was so swollen, I could hardly open it. It necessitated me going to an emergency care center for treatment. I called the hotel numerous times before they got back to me. (6 times in a 3 day period) they claim they had an exterminator examine the room and nothing was found. They refunded my payment, but that hardly compensates me for the misery I went through. read more
