This is an old-style drive up motel located on a pretty lake north of Nanaimo. I was actually…read morepleasantly surprised by our room. The bed was comfortable and overlooked the lake. It had a decent sized fridge with a freezer in top which I appreciated because we had a cooler with re-freezable ice packs. It also had a microwave and a keurig coffee maker with creamer, etc. The included breakfast, however, was marginal to bad. Overcooked scrambled eggs, a toaster that didn't work very well and took forever to make any toast at all. A waffle maker that a guest told me not to use because it didn't work. The fruit was precut up and soaking in sugar syrup. Not tasty. Aside from the breakfast we enjoyed our stay and would return.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here at Long Lake being a pet friendly hotel, with lake access…read morefrom our patio and exceptional customer service by Margo! Complimentary breakfast was simple with an assortment of packaged muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee. On the other hand, the facilities itself are only okay with cleanliness being questionable in our suite. There were some stains on the carpet before we got there and the air condition is quite loud. The rooms were renovated and had a nice washroom and kitchen but is definitely dated. Unfortunately, we did not receive great service from one of the front desk staff members and this plus the facility cleanliness leads to 4 instead of 5 stars.

The check in process was quick and easily and the lady was super nice. They had a little desk with a sign that welcomed pets which I thought was super cute. It had a bowl of treats, towels, and poop bags. I love pet friendly hotels. Parking is super easy they have a lot right in front of the hotel. The hotel offers a pretty nice gym and an inside pool with a jacuzzi, I wish I brought my bathing suit. They also offer free hot breakfast in the dining area which was pretty amazing. I've been to several hotels that serve breakfast and it's crap. I uploaded some pictures of the breakfast. The room is super nice and cute. The only thing I can say bad is that my free lotion was previously used and never replaced. I'm vegan and I don't use fragrance or amainar products at all and I was so happy to see that they use vegetable based soap! Well back to the hotel room lol, the bedroom was in a little room that you had the ability to slide a door and close it. We have a little dining area a couch and a nice size kitchen. Since town closes pretty early around here I recommend you buy some groceries and make food. I would recommend that you stay here

Beach Acres Resort - View from Ocean view units

Beach Acres Resort

We're big fans of Rathtrevor Beach. We've visited the provincial park campground a few times now,…read morebut the beach itself is the real star. When the tide is out there's what seems like miles of sandy beach to explore, dig, splash and play in. When it comes back in, theres miles of shallow, warm water to swim, wade and dive in. And it's all surrounded by nature, with eagles soaring overhead, mountain views across the water and classic BC driftwood-lined shores. Until you go to the southern part of th beach, that is, where it's lined with a whole bunch of beachfront resorts. So at easter, when we felt like getting out of the city but weren't quite brave enough to camp, I thought of those resorts and got googling. I ended up choosing Beach Acres because it was reasonably priced, was one of the closest to the less-developed northern part of the beach and because it seemed to be less densely developed, offering more space to relax and let the kids loose when the beach wasn't an option. My hunch paid off - it turned out to be a great place to stay and was extremely good value for the price. They have all the basic stuff you need for a family getaway - including pool, basketball hoops, 3 tennis courts, a playground, bike rental and plenty of open space. The cabin we were in was very well appointed and although each one is privately owned, I got the impression that they all met similar standards. Plus, it has an English pub-style restaurant on the property that is one of what appears to be very few decent places to eat in Parksville. If you're looking for pampering at a spa getway, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a great fun family break it's ideal.

had a wonderful stay at beach acres have been there twice on holiday, execellent resort ,nice pool…read morethe cottages are right on the beach. The cottages are very roomy we had four in our party and it was not crowded ,all the cottages have fireplaces and the upper ones have a beauiful view of the beach, will go back for sure!!
