This is an old-style drive up motel located on a pretty lake north of Nanaimo. I was actually pleasantly surprised by our room. The bed was comfortable and overlooked the lake. It had a decent sized fridge with a freezer in top which I appreciated because we had a cooler with re-freezable ice packs. It also had a microwave and a keurig coffee maker with creamer, etc. The included breakfast, however, was marginal to bad. Overcooked scrambled eggs, a toaster that didn't work very well and took forever to make any toast at all. A waffle maker that a guest told me not to use because it didn't work. The fruit was precut up and soaking in sugar syrup. Not tasty. Aside from the breakfast we enjoyed our stay and would return. read more

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here at Long Lake being a pet friendly hotel, with lake access from our patio and exceptional customer service by Margo! Complimentary breakfast was simple with an assortment of packaged muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee. On the other hand, the facilities itself are only okay with cleanliness being questionable in our suite. There were some stains on the carpet before we got there and the air condition is quite loud. The rooms were renovated and had a nice washroom and kitchen but is definitely dated. Unfortunately, we did not receive great service from one of the front desk staff members and this plus the facility cleanliness leads to 4 instead of 5 stars. read more

Came here on a work trip for three weeks - my last week is next week and the staff has been so sweet and accommodating. The rooms are decent, and the views are awesome. The to go breakfast they're offering for COVID is pretty good, breakfast sandwiches/pastries/cereal so just nothing fresh but they've done well considering all the restrictions. Catherine Audet the General Manager has the worst customer service I have ever seen and I have been in the industry for a very long time. It must be tough to make a go of a non-chain hotel these days. But these folks are trying hard to provide a quality experience at reasonable prices. We're a few days into a week-long stay. So far, the experience has been almost entirely positive. Our non-smoking room is quiet and very clean. The included continental breakfast is very good, even if the room where it's held is a bit tight when the crowds roll in. Location-wise, it's a ways out of the 'downtown scene'. But since we brought a vehicle, that hasn't been a problem. And the parking situation is much better out here in the "country." Before we arrived, I had a lengthy back-and-forth with hotel management about room selection. In a world where emails to businesses often go unanswered altogether, The Inn responded, and also did everything they said they would do. You can't say fairer than that. If I had to criticize ... there were a couple small smudges on the room's wall. The outside walk areas and elevators tend to get a bit grungy. You have to pretty much slam the door to get it to latch, and having told the desk clerk about it hasn't helped. And for some reason housekeeping takes away more bath linens than they leave. But seriously, it's been fine all around. read more

I saw an add on facebook today for the Inn and I was reminded of my trip to Nanaimo two years ago when my brother visited from Toronto. It was nothing like I expected and that is good. When we arrived we checked into our room on the lake side, ground floor and when we opened the sliding glass doors it was like being back at our cottage in Ontario. The room was immaculate, the beds soooo comfortable but best of all this tranquil paradise that we had found in Nanaimo..As much as the rooms were great it was hard to keep me inside I just wanted to sit on the dock and savour the moment forever. My brother loved the continental breakfast but I was not leaving that dock unitl the very last minute. I'll definely be back this summer read more

My husband and I went on a weekend get away a week ago and chose to stay here because I wanted to do some lake fishing. The staff were very nice and professional from the very beginning (we had called ahead to confirm our reservations and also to request a room not on the first floor). There was ample parking in their lot (for both cars and RV's if you are traveling in one) and our room faced Long Lake which was just breathtaking. The room was very clean and the bathroom was a good size. They even had a set of patio furniture on each balcony so we could take in the view. The fishing, however, is a different story (but it really had nothing to do the the Inn, but my poor fishing skills). I brought my own inflatable raft, which I regret. I would have rather payed their rental fee to use one of their little row boats or kayaks to go into the middle of the lake to fish instead of trying to steer an inflatable raft that went in circles. It was also rather windy that day, so no matter how hard I paddled, I could not get very far from the shore. I was told that they do stock the lake with trout, so bring the appropriate tackle. Also, I noted that the bottom of the lake can get kind of rocky, so be sure you don't weigh your line down too much. Other than that, they have a small hot tub separate from the rest of the hotel and even two BBQ's ready for you to use. I just loved the whole feel of the Inn and can't wait for a return stay. I also noted that there were little to no mosquitoes at night so that was a bonus! Their breakfast spread was average, with some hard boiled eggs, beverages, yogurt, bagels and a waffle machine. Everything was clean and well stocked and you can enjoy your breakfast al fresco on their patio area. All in all, wonderful place to stay for a mini vacation! read more

Stayed here for a few days very recently, and not pleased about having cockroaches in our room. Management was not only unconcerned, but not sympathetic. Said they would treat the room, and a day later when we still saw the insects, we were offered a can of insect spray to take care of it ourselves. We asked for and were offered nothing for our inconvenience and upset. Three of us traveled together and had each stayed here before, with no complaints or issues. Lodging was comfortable and appeared clean. The view of the sun coming up over the lake is spectacular. However, never again. read more

Wasn't a big fan from the start. The check in brah at the front desk was really slow. I went to the hot tub I was raving about to all my golf buds back home and it was closed! It was only 8:30pm. After a long round of golf I like my tub. Most of my golf friends like a good tub too. Were BIG hot tub guys. Maybe not Chad, he's a big BC Lions and beef dip guy. Loves loads of shrooms on his za. Big windows down while driving Guy. Huge routine guy. Gilly though ...Big hot tub guy, Scott, Big hot tub guy...Andy, Fordo and Jay; Big hot tub guys too. So I figure I will just come back in the morning however, and unbeknownst to me it was closed in the morning too! Hours were 12-8pm. Who goes for a soak during those hours? Not Big hot tubs guys, I'll tell you that right now. The rooms at Inn on Long Lake were nice and clean. Lake view was blocked by the useless hot tub gazebo though. This place was perfect !! I love that they are so pet friendly :)) we had the family suite for 5 adults and 2 dogs and we had lots of room. Very clean the beds were super comfy. We had a garden suite so we were able to go out in the morning and take our dog for a swim and then ate our breakfast out on the deck !! Best hotel outside of the downtown core. Being on Long Lake gives one a mild escape from the fact that you are in a city. The location gives easy access to 2 shopping malls as well as a number of good restaurants. Comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. read more

Amazing!!!!! Me and my family (doggy included) had such a wonderful time staying at this Inn!! I love how they are so pet friendly. They gave us a little bag of treats, some poop bags and even a doggy towel (incase the dog wants to have a swim in the lake) as a welcome package for the dog. The hotel room was very clean and spacious. Had everything we needed :) We were on the 1st floor and it had a glass/screen sliding door that overlooked the beautiful green grass, gardens and lake. Breathtaking view! It was nice because I could just let our little dog out to pee and explore the area when he needed to go out. They keep everything very well maintained! It was also very quite, and in the morning we could hear the beautiful birds chirping! They have a gazebo that overlooks the lake that has exercise equipment and a hot tub. You can also peddle boats and canoes! Would definitely recommend staying here. This will be the only place we stay now!! My favourite part was how dog friendly they are. Nice modernized inn right on the lake. Very reasonable rates offering a continental breakfast, spa, gym and rentals for some water sports. We stayed in the king room on the ground floor. Bed is a little stiff, but room is large and fairly quiet. Has a private dock which is nice to sit and soak in the view. A good stay in Nanaimo. read more

I stayed there with my kids and while the room was being cleaned my ipad air went missing. We actually came to the room while it was being cleaned and told the girl (one of 3) not to worry about doing the pillows since we brought our own. She was standing next to my ipad on the night stand because I remember looking at it thinking why did I leave my electronics out along with my kids ones, 1500 dollars worth? but thought it all should be safe. I also thought that the cleaners won't be able to clean the table because the ipad is laying there but thought it's not dirty anyway so it won't matter. We left the room to go outside and eat lunch at their picnic table while they clean. We came back 15 minutes later and I noticed right away it was missing. I tossed the whole room, checked the luggage. I notified staff and used their computer to log on to icloud and locate the ipad with GPS, it showed that it's in the hotel. All cleaning staff was made aware that I am locating it with GPS. Front end staff went upstairs to listen for the IPAD to beep which I did front the lobby on the icloud application find my ipad, she never heard anything in the room. For 25 minutes my self and staff including the manager tossed my room in order to find it we beeped the ipad too but never heard it. THe GPS showed that it was further down the hotel wing where my room was. 30 minutes later my ipad magically appeared in my luggage and was beeping. THe door to the room was left wide open for that entire time while everyone tossed the common area and went downstairs. THe manger didn't say a word when i found it in front of him. I got the feeling that he thought I was crazy and looked bad. I asked my kids if they put it there and they said no (that was my first reaction,I was shocked and doubted everything I saw) then few seconds later once it all clicked in I realized what had just happened, it was simply returned, one of the cleaners stole it the returned it. I know I saw my ipad sitting on the table, that's where I left it. I tossed my luggage 3 times including all compartments and it wasn't there (my I pad is the big one with a heavy cover on it). Who ever stole it returned it knowing I have the locate app on it and the gps would show where it is and notify me. Unfortunately all the staff thinks I didn't look for it carefully and not that it was stolen and returned when door was open. I know it was there in the room, I have different bag for the ipad and never use my luggage to store it. Minutes before it was found, I passed the same cleaning girl while walking to my room just 5 doors down. One that stood in front of my ipad and then denied that she ever saw one in the room. The supervisor of the cleaning crew was advised and she said that's not possible becasue all the cleanig staff was downstairs and I said to her I passed that cleaning girl on the 3 floor minutes before locating the ipad, her mought dropped. 2 points I want to point out since the General Manager is replying to my review on other sites,,, First we did not start packing prior to the ipad going missing as the manager blames my kids for putting it in the suit case, In fact we decided to leave a day early when we were out and about and came back to the hotel to pack, no packing took place before ipad went missing. Manager has no clue what he is talking about. He assumed we were already packing and blamed my kids for touching MY ipad that they do not use. Secondly, we left the room and the building all together to eat our lunch by the water despite what the manager came up with that we stood outside the door while the room was being cleaned. My husband was staying an extra night for work. Lastly, the manager was in my room when I entered the room before the ipad was found. According to the general manager theft never happened. Rooms are old, dirty and smelly, people can smoke on the balcony so gets stinky if your door is open to the nice view. will never,ever go back. read more
