One of our favorite places in the world! We come to Qualicum and stay at the QBI every couple summers. The rooms almost all have an amazing view of the beach are clean and modern and the service is great. The restaurant is also amazing, we have eaten here 8-10 tones in the last 5 years and haven't been disappointed once. Brunch, lunch and dinner are all awesome with local food, awesome service and amazing views. We will definitely be coming back! read more

The Qualicum Beach Inn is located right across the gravel and sand beach on the Straight of Georgia, an excellent 3 star hotel with 5 star ratings ... very friendly and helpful staff ... gourmet restaurant and lively bar ... but above all excellent rooms. They are open 10am to 10pm everyday, prerty much the only show in town for Sat night fun & Mon prime rib dinner, and the other days are well catered to by the talented chefs and even a renowned bakery specialist on staff. Given that we went for a long weekend during a pandemic, many of the features were closed (Restaurant, etc). That said, they offer pet-friendly rooms, so we were able to take our dog with us. The service was exceptional, and also offers a nice view of the beach. Also a very short drive into town, or down to Parksville. Would like to try again in 'normal' times. read more

I highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning! The front door and desk staff were warm and welcoming upon arrival. The newer Inn was spotless and my ocean view room was stunning. The beds were incredibly comfortable as were the plush robes and slippers. The complimentary luxury bath products were divine. The place was modern and quiet and had a great fitness room, pool and hot tub. I heard the restaurant was amazing but unfortunately closed due to covid. However the Inn provided a wonderful information package at check in, listing local pubs and restaurants with a complimentary shuttle there and back. The cleanliness and covid measures taken here was the best I've seen and made me feel very safe. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable from check in to check out. I highly recommend staying here and I can't wait to come back again! read more

1. Amazing hotel/ restaurant design. 5/5 This is newly renovated hotel/inn that opened last year. The room is absolutely amazing, design wise. Really stylish, reminds you of one of the upscale LA hotels. Marble bathrooms, designer furniture, Molton Brown Soaps, with a stunning ocean view. As for the food, they have a good menu however, they lack in bold flavours and seasoning. 3.5/5- food, 4.5/5- design. We had: 1. Mini Grilled four cheese tapas- supposed to have four different kinds of cheese including cream cheese. But there wasn't enough cheese and all I tasted was the cream cheese. Wasn't happy about it. 2. Scallop florentine appy - two pieces of scallops on a bed of rice and veggies with cream sauce. The scallops were cooked to perfection. Absolutely loved it. However, in terms of the whole dish, I didn't think the cream sauce complemented the scallops well. 3. Daily special: seafood risotto, lobster pizza. We were really excited to try theses dishes however, we were disappointed with the pizza. The crust didn't do it for us and it lacked flavour. It was the same with the risotto. I liked the fact that there was lots of seafood in it but it needed more salt and some bold seasoning. Overall, the food felt like it was lacking something... And I think it is some bold flavours and proper seasoning. However, the service was great, everyone was super nice and accommodating. Service- 5/5 I would give this 5/5 if the food was up to par But I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat. read more

Wow where can I start... the view of the ocean- beautiful! The fire torches lit up at night giving the restaurant a unique atmosphere- amazing! The drinks- great! Personnel outstanding! and the food... even better!! I loved the pacific/asian fusion menu. Had the vegetarian bowl; unsure of the name, but came with a base of rice, some greens, tempura-ed asparagus and a delicious sauce. I cannot stop thinking about the explosion of flavours I experienced that night! Would definitely recommend, and am hoping more than anything, to come back one day! read more

This is a nicely renovated hotel overlooking the ocean. The restaurant had good service and decent food. The bed was comfy and the location is good for a walk on the beach or up into town. Unfortunately our first room was incredibly noisy, with a fridge, AC, highway noise, and some kind of deep mechanical rumble. They agreed to move us to a different room and we ended up in a smaller, non-ocean view room. It was quieter, but we noticed that they play music in the hallways most of the day and into the evening. I managed to sleep thanks to a white noise machine and a sleeping pill. This is not a good place to stay for peace and quiet. Additional cons: the smaller room had no counter space on the vanity, and hence no storage for toothbrushes or toiletries; also no towel bars so the only storage for towels was over the side of the tub. . read more

Such a shame that a beautiful hotel in such a spectacular setting offers such dreadful food! Makes absolutely no sense to not have competent staff in the kitchen! The sandwiches we had were so ridiculously big that they were impossible to eat. The bread was dry and so thick and the filling was completely tasteless. Soup was inedible as was the strange spiral salad. This was my third and final visit to QBI. read more

The decor and ambience in the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The new renovations and friendly service have made it a wonderful place to spend some time. That being said the food left much to be desired. I tried the Niçoise salad with salmon and the halibut burger with cauliflower soup. Produce and fish wasn't the freshest and most of the flavours were underwhelming. This may have been because it isn't busy season but overall subpar food. read more

Absolutely beautiful hotel. 5 star vintage if there is such a thing. We are part of a rat pack tribute show and we performed in Qualicum Beach. This hotel has a vintage footprint looking out over the water and everything has been remodeled so well its like they started from scratch. The Staff, The Food, The Rooms...Everything was first class. As far as we are concerned it you are in Qualicum Beach there is only one place to stay...The QBI. After our visit to Qualicum Beach, we then went to Victoria and stayed at the Empress. Great Historic Hotel that is being whittled away by progress...We really missed our friends at the QBI...They spoiled us! read more

Good variety of meal choices for all 3 of us ladies. Room very comfortable...we stayed in 105 which is right off the restaurant patio so heard people until about 10:00pm but that's just how it is. My husband and I spent two wonderful anniversary celebration nights in the King Fantastic room, which has the most amazing 180 degree view of Qualicum beach. The room is clean, modern and well laid out. We loved being able to lay in bed and watch the ocean and sky go by. I enjoyed the deep tub immensely. The downsides don't outweigh the upsides but they do exist; the two funky chairs in the room are not all that comfortable and make loud, groaning noises if you move around. We stuck to the bed for this reason (wonderfully comfortable). The clothing steamer instead of an iron was just a pain in the bum rather than uniquely useful. And I was somewhat surprised that we were told to go down to the lobby for ice, given the rate of this room - a bit more pampering was expected. More good: Great air conditioning plus big sliding doors to open for fresh air, yummy coffee machine and big TV. We had two breakfasts at the restaurant and thought the prices were reasonable for the size and quality of food. The eggs Benny was one of the best I've had. Delicious hash browns and great service. read more

If you are looking for a date night place - I highly recommend. It was a dark and stormy night, but my hubby and I were desperate to get out of Nanaimo. Thought we would try this place a friend had told us about. What a treat, upscale retro design in the restaurant. The server and hostess were great; attentive, but gave us space to enjoy a romantic night out. The beef & mushroom pasta was so good! Everything was very tasty. We heard that they just got a new chef, so we will venture back in a few months so we can enjoy the view when the sun is out and see what is new on the menu. read more

We had breakfast at the QBI. The servers was great. This venue is nicely decorated with beautiful ocean views, but the food... We both ordered bacon and cheese omelettes. What we received eggs that had been scrambled and then fried in a perfectly round shape. The bacon, cheese and tomatoes (we added them) were added after the omelette was cooked. Two whole slices of bacon, diced tomato and a scrap of cheese were added after it was cooked. It was tasteless, more to the point this is not how an omelette is made. The ingredients are cooked into the egg mixture. This was like a taco, with the shell scrambled egg and contents added after the fact. Last time I had steel cut oats which were under cooked and crunchy. With such a beautiful location, it would be great if the food was up to par. read more

I checked in Qualicum Beach Inn on Sunday night at a fancy tariff of $250/night. I had the worst experience ever staying in any hotel perhaps other than some hotels in Asia, where I paid probably $5/night. The bottom line was that I hardly slept, my back was hurting the next day and when I asked to talk to a manager they sent me to their chef who was extremely unfriendly and told me that the manager will contact me later in the day. Of course the manager did not contact me and when a day later I emailed the manager he got angry at me that I didn't give him a chance to contact me first. Instead of dealing with the reported problems he gave me a bunch of excuses and said that other people had a good experience. At $250+tax/night probably any other random hotel will give you a way more superior experience, probably a $50 motel will do just as good and perhaps even better than this place that pretends to be a high class hotel. The longer story is below if perhaps you want to know the details. The room which supposed to be ocean-view in fact overlooks the busy and loud restaurant, behind which you can see the ocean. you can't open windows unless you want to be part of the dining crowd, so pretty much forget about the ocean-view. so all is left is a bed with its accessories and a washroom, most of which malfunctioned. The fridge vibrated like an angry tractor - after trying to move it around to quiet the vibration to no avail, I shut if off. The aircon would work fine for 10-15 min and then would start roaring very loudly. So it was impossible to sleep with it and I had to turn it off. Ending with a stuffy, and hot room. The mattress was extremely saggy, my whole body was sunken in it - which is probably ok for side sleepers but I'm not one of them. Most hotels have their beds on the hard side. I couldn't use the pillow either as it was very thick, making it very hard on my neck, again probably ok for side sleepers, which I'm not. In fact not being able to use their pillows somewhat worked, since my body sunken into the saggy mattress so my head was supported by the top edge of the mattress. So having no pillow and being sunken into the bed I woke up with a bad back ache. To top it all off the radio alarm which I *did not* set went off at some wee hours and I couldn't fall asleep again after that being so uncomfortable. Shouldn't it be a courtesy of a hotel to reset any such devices so that the customers won't be surprised by such alarms at unwanted hours or have a big warning on the wall saying something like - the alarm clock might be set for a random hour please make sure you unset it before you go to sleep. I couldn't talk to the room service in the middle of the night as my partner was asleep and I didn't want to wake her up. The only thing that did work fine was shower and toilet, So I had a glorious washroom experience at a whooping $290 cost. I travel a lot and believe me such experience is a very rare indeed. The end result was that I hardly slept that night and had my whole body aching for the rest of the day. My recommendation: find a better place than this establishment run by very unfriendly staff, who will gladly take your money and then do all in their power to keep it w/o giving much in return read more

We have eaten here twice now on our visit to Vancouver Island. Both times I ordered the Edamame seasoned with sesame oil and sesame seeds. This is an extraordinary dish which is why we were here the second time. My husband had the French Onion soup which was also stellar. Today we added the Foccacio Bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The bread tasted like it was just out of the oven. What a delightful lunch with a gorgeous view from our table. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this property. The star of the show is the service.....we could not have been treated better by the entire staff from the front desk to the restaurant manager. The rooms are comfortable, views are not amazing but certainly decent. One note is that there is no elevator to the second floor, so if you have trouble with stairs request a 1st floor room. Had dinner at the restaurant with my wife and daughter. Not impressed. Got there at 7pm and had an ok view of the ocean over the parking lot. Waitress was nice but did not seem to know the special without her paper. Did not know what the side vegetables of the dishes were. Did not know how big the filet mignon was. Drinks took forever to come. No bread. Finally informed us that the special was no longer available because they ran out of chicken. We ordered the ribs instead. Waited patiently for the romaine salad which was tasty. Waited some more and then some more. Finally the waitress appears with some bread - precisely 3 small slices - and informs us that the kitchen lost our order and it will be another 10 minutes. All this time the floor manager had been serving several bottles of wine to a table near us and had drawn up a chair to join them. They must have been more important than us that's for sure! So we get our meals which were ok although a little light on mashed potatoes. The floor manager continued to get up and down helping his chosen table and walked by us several times clearly unaware that we were even present. We order the dessert and are served a small torte. As expected, we waited for the bill. The floor manager warmly greeted another set of people who were seated next to us - clearly more important for sure. We paid and left. Bad feeling for us and for our inexperienced waitress who had to try and laugh everything off. No fun for anyone except the floor manager who appeared to be having a good time. read more

Wonderful atmosphere but the servers are where they need to work on. Too many times they've spilled drinks and mistakes in the orders. Also the food and hit and miss. More than once the shellfish was bad, my advice stay away from the mussels. Great cocktails though. Bar tender is excellent. read more

It was disappointing today when my husband, myself and another couple all went out to Cview to celebrate both couples 46th anniversary. We were eager to go. We were seated, then it took a while to get served (was not overly busy) then it took about ten minutes to get coffee to the three other people and another five to get my tea. It took about half an hour to get our food, first the other three got their's then about five minutes later mine came without the grilled tomato and i was told it would be right out, another 5 minutes and the so called "grilled" tomato came out, it was a roma tomato cut in half length wise and it could hardly be called grilled, the outside was fridge cold and the cut side may have spent 40 seconds on the grill. All four dishes were lukewarm. The service and server were far less than adequate never once engaging in any conversation, never asked how we were, never came back to the table to ask if everything was good. We left a very very small tip compared to what we would usually do. Not impressed in the slightest way, none of us have any desire to return ever!! read more
