I wrote a review last year and found a year typo. Next week we're heading back to Yellow Point for the 30th year. I'm so excited. There's nothing else like it even though there are many fine resorts in other places. As you can read about the system elsewhere many of our Yellow Point friends will also be there. As the years go by some stop coming but there are always new friends. What a grand tradition!

The check in process was quick and easily and the lady was super nice. They had a little desk with a sign that welcomed pets which I thought was super cute. It had a bowl of treats, towels, and poop bags. I love pet friendly hotels. Parking is super easy they have a lot right in front of the hotel. The hotel offers a pretty nice gym and an inside pool with a jacuzzi, I wish I brought my bathing suit. They also offer free hot breakfast in the dining area which was pretty amazing. I've been to several hotels that serve breakfast and it's crap. I uploaded some pictures of the breakfast. The room is super nice and cute. The only thing I can say bad is that my free lotion was previously used and never replaced. I'm vegan and I don't use fragrance or amainar products at all and I was so happy to see that they use vegetable based soap! Well back to the hotel room lol, the bedroom was in a little room that you had the ability to slide a door and close it. We have a little dining area a couch and a nice size kitchen. Since town closes pretty early around here I recommend you buy some groceries and make food. I would recommend that you stay here

My family chose this hotel based on its swimming pool and hot tub with water slide and found out…read morethat this is just part of the benefit of staying here. The staff is very helpful and they provided a list of great restaurants locally, we choose 1948 Kitchen and Bar and highly recommend it, check my review over there. The rooms here are nice and well cared for and clean. The included breakfast was great and the scrambled eggs were better than expected. The location is walking distance to both a gas station/convenience store as well as a nice liquor store. We brought our dog and there's great grass and trail up on the rail road tracks for a nice walk. Can recommend if you find yourself in Nanaimo!

We decided to stay here as the hotel is fairly new and it looks clean and modern from the website…read more It is located by the highway, about 5-10 mins drive to Ladysmith. You will definitely need a car if you are staying here. It seems to be a new development (Oyster Bay Village) with nothing much in the vicinity at the moment. There are two gas stations -- one is across the road with A&W attached, the other has Tim Hortons and a small gift shop corner inside. A liquor store is also in the area. The hotel itself is basic and serves our needs. Hand sanitizer is readily available, especially at high touch point places. Coffee and cucumber flavored iced water are available by the elevators. There is also a fitness room plus a swimming pool with a giant slide and jacuzzi to relax. No changing rooms in the pool area but there are showers and washrooms. The room we had was comfortable. Basic amenities were provided (soap and shampoo/conditioner). I like how each bed has 3 pillows and they are fluffy and supportive. Breakfast was included but due to covid, it was a light breakfast of 4 items (granola bar, muffin, yogurt and fruit). Indicate on the form what your would like and they would be placed outside your door in the morning. Free parking and wifi too. The only drawbacks were noise: 1. the air conditioning kept going on and off as it tried to keep to the temperature indicated on the thermostat. So that kept me awake. 2. Kids running around on the level above us. The thumping was pretty much non stop when they were in the room. And kids do wake up early. We only informed the front desk about that when they asked us on our experience when we checked out. I also indicated that a few days later in the email survey form. To the hotel's credit, the management replied with an explanation. The "auto" setting on the AC caused the on and off issue. It would not happen if I set it to "Lo" or "High". Well, if this could be clearly indicated somewhere in the room, that would be helpful. There is a control panel in the room with the temperature indicated where you need to turn it on or off. Then there is a physical air conditioner with its own control panel, and no temperature indicated. Every hotel is different, so we didn't know how this worked. Regarding the thumping noises caused by children running, we were told to contact the staff in future as they could advise their guests to tone it down. So for future reference, the bottom line is to contact the staff immediately if you encounter any issue (noise or otherwise). The staff at the front desk are fabulous. Friendly and welcoming. I do not mind staying here again if I am traveling in this area next time. I do like that it is away from the town area.

I am so happy to have happened upon this spot, as I searched for hotels near the Nanaimo airport…read more Kiwi Cove Lodge, is a beautiful place. It is situated along Ladysmith Harbor, just beyond the kiwi farm behind the lodge. My room was comfortable and really cute. I also had an amazing view of the kiwi from my balcony. There are multiple entrances and exits, so you don't have to always go to the lobby to go in and out. I enjoyed taking walks behind the lodge, out to the harbor. I saw many birds, some wild bunnies, and felt really relaxed and at peace there. Breakfast was fantastic with friendly service. It was a lot of food! I had 2 eggs, sausage, toast, and a starter which consisted of fruit and yogurt. Doug gave us some a good recommendation for a place to eat since my colleague and I were only there overnight. He also was an excellent host. I would definitely recommend Kiwi Cove Lodge to anyone who likes the bed and breakfast type of atmosphere, or who loves taking walks outdoors. If I am ever in the area again, I'd go back.

Breakfast each morning was included with our room, and there were no problems accommodating our request for gluten-free food (even though we would have been happy to simply pick something up at the grocery instead!) While the exterior of the building looks rather rustic (or dated, if you're feeling salty,) the interior has been redone rather recently. Both aspects appealed to me, as I like the well-worn aesthetic, but also can't complain about a soaking tub! We had our own exit onto a small deck (shared with the room next to us) that led out to the kiwi grove at the rear of the property, edged with berry brambles. There were also some trails that led around the property and down to a rocky beach on the bay. Next to the kiwi grove is a large community garden. I could see this being a lovely site for a wedding, and I hope we can return sometime when the kiwi have leafed our and are fruiting!
