Dead bug near TV that the manager claims is not their hotel

Rudest staff you can imagine if you have an issue. If you look at responses to negative reviews on Google this manager takes no responsibility for anything. Calls every single complaint a lie. This is not someone that should be in hospitality. Be careful here. In my google review she blatantly lies and says the picture of the bug isn't her hotel. And the picture is most certainly her hotel!!!! Let's go to court and talk about defamation. You think I don't have better things to do then post fake reviews. Also she says we didn't start complaining until night just because we wanted a refund. Does a hotel manager actually not understand that people aren't in their rooms all day. And our complaints escalated when we were without power sitting in the dark. Did I somehow shut the power off of our hotel just to complain for a refund? Did I leave the hotel for another room three times the cost just for a refund? We were at a hockey tournament all day!!!! We turned on the heater when we checked in, room was still freezing when we got back! That was before we didn't have power. Also she is telling the truth when she says I didn't complain to them about the bugs, cleanliness or ice to them. I just wanted power and heat, I'm a respectful guest and I'm not going to sit there and complain about every little thing at a two star hotel. Unbelievable*** So we got into our room and there were dead bugs, the room was filthy, and the heat wasn't working. This was really concerning traveling with our baby. They brought us a space heater, shortly after that the power went out. We called the front desk, after about a half hour it seemed like they took care of it and it came back on. Only to go out again about ten minutes later. At that point we wanted a refund. The front desk gal was great when we checked in, horrible when we had an issue. Basically told us we can leave if we want to keep complaining. When my wife said we are leaving she said, "bye bye B word" but she actually said it. All because we complained about not having power multiple times. Then she told us we were banned and ran outside to take our license plate. On top of all that they don't salt the sidewalk, my wife and older daughter slipped and fell on the ice at different times. I'm not exaggerating. Literally the most horrible hotel experience I've had in my 34 years of life. The manager wouldn't speak to us, said she would in the morning. I really hate leaving bad reviews but this was a shockingly bad experience. When we got to the Hampton Inn after leaving they could not believe what happened.

BEYOND RUDE if you have any issues whatsoever. We booked 2 rooms for 5 days in August 2022. We've been patronizing this specific property for 10 years with about 3-4 visits per year each with several nights. During this last stay, we were charged $250. No one bothered to notify us. I called and hotel said it was for a broken refrigerator shelf on the door. We literally placed a few sodas in the fridge and it was in the main area, not the door. We absolutely didn't break it nor did we notice it was broke. Spoke to the manager, ALICIA WILLIAMS, who stated it was a flat $250 for any damage. She stated it was our responsibility to notice any damage at check in and notify the office. Of course we would if we had noticed and if we did break it, we'd have owned to up to it. I'd still have argued this but I'd be less upset if it were a $50 charge. Her response to my google review when I asked if guests were to inspect everything was - it's your responsibility. We rarely even use a fridge, never a micro or any of the drawers/cabinets so we are to do an inspection according to her. She claimed that she trusts her housekeeping to check absolutely everything, that they would notice anything out of order. Of course, she cannot offer any proof such as a check list. We asked for pictures, which she did send (below). It's a piece of plastic I assume was laying in the fridge somewhere as we never saw/noticed it. The other room had a/c issues , never really cooling off much and squeaking non stop when on. Maintenance came and said new units are still on back order. When we spoke to manager, she said that it was technically functioning (we used the other room we booked for comparison and the difference was huge and I guess constant squeaking should not bother us). We were told we should have asked for another room which may be true but we wanted to be booked next to the other room. Her response to my google review was that it works and there have been no complaints on that room since (it's only been 5 days since we checked out). ALICIA WILLIAM was so rude and condescending and essentially called us liars and would not even consider the fact that perhaps staff does not check every little item after every single guest. This particular establishment has no regard for long term, regular guests. When we return to the area in the fall, we will certainly not be going here nor at any time in the future. I expected more from Choice Hotels and I will dispute with my charge card bank and I will be in touch with corporate.

My husband and I looked for a hotel late, and most in the area were booked, so we were thrilled to actually get a room. [We had actually planned on camping, but I wasn't feeling well]. Got to room and it looked nice. A suite sort of room, with a sofa/tv room and separate bedroom space. The room smelled funny, but we attributed that to being closed up all day without the ac in. We flipped on the ac and settled in (again, because I wasn't feeling well). A few hours pass and I get up to go to the bathroom....the reason for the smell was FLOATING in the unclean toilet!! GAG. So, the toilet wasn't cleaned. Ok. We also start to realize that it isn't getting any cooler in the room (room 122). AC doesn't work. It turns on and sounds like it is going, and then shuts off as if the compressor is freezing up. So, we sweat all night. From the bed you can SEE that someone has obviously had oily sex pressed up against the mirrored closet doors, because they aren't cleaned either. In the morning, we get up to shower, find crawling bugs in the bathroom. I took pictures. In the morning, I tell the woman who is serving the breakfast (there wasn't anyone at the desk), and even show her the pictures. Her response, "why didn't you call about the ac not working"....um, because it was the middle of the night. She said she would "tell management". AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. DIRTY. If they are not even actually cleaning the toilets, seriously.

I must say I was a little concerned at first but the price being $50 a night, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The hotel has gone through some recent renovations and is very nice-looking. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms very spacious, but the bathrooms were little cool feeling. The lack of lighting made it a little cave like. Aside from that, I really enjoyed my stay and would have no problem staying here in the future.

    Clean walk paths to rooms.

Good room, good breakfast, friendly service, convenient to Ferris State .which makes for a very good value given the low price.

A mini fridge and microwave. A good size flat screen tv. The room was very clean. My only complaints are minor. The shower head is lower than I wish it was. The other is while walls between rooms are sound proofed well, the wall to hotel hallway isn't. You can hear everyone opening and closing their doors and hear everything else. Overall a solid 4 stars. Would I return? Yes I would. I like the set up and the price was very fair! Revision: Ok the earlier was written before sleeping. After, I have 2 issues. Turns out for my taste the bed is too stiff. If you like a harder bed, this may be for you. The other thing is the blackout curtains suck. Even closed they let in a lot of light. Lastly while I'm not including it in rating the complimentary breakfast is very plain Jane. Cereal, waffles, toast, mass produced tiny muffins and things. Overall I'm dropping the rating to a 3 star review. Would I return? Ehh maybe? It's still a good deal and very clean!

We called and fortunately for us they were available and took us in within minutes of calling! Now I do not hunt so I used this place more as a bed and breakfast rather than for the hunting aspect. Upon driving up to the ranch, we were greeted with nothing but the utmost respect. All of the ranch hands and staff are truly kind gentlemen and welcomed us with hospitality. We went on a day where it had snowed something terrible the day before and our car could not make it up the driveway. They gave us a ride in one of their pickup trucks up to the lodge and while we settled in, they plowed for us and even drove our car up for us so we didn't have to go back in the cold! They let us have our pick of the rooms available and even carried all of our luggage to it! Breakfast was served the next morning at our desired time and the cook was very sweet and catered to everybody's individual preferences with professionalism. The lodge itself is absolutely stunning and very clean and also quite large! It had a grand living room, a bar room complete with fireplace and stocked wood, a sauna, a massage room, and an open kitchen with an extra large dining area that opened up to the back porch that had the most beautiful view of the land below! We had the whole place to ourselves. It was literally like having our own extra large "cabin in the woods" to ourselves the entire night! The lodge was extremely clean and decorated tastefully. I'm not at all into hunting or taxidermy but could still appreciate how beautiful the lodge was decorated and built otherwise. Modern with a cozy feel! Would definitely be back. Would make for one awesome getaway with a group of family or friends! A++ and definitely worth checking out if you love that feeling of being lost in nature. :) calm and beautiful. They had plenty of parking, but wished they had better signage for Hotel Check In (it's on the right of the main entrance) The guest rooms weren't overly nice, but they had lots of buttons for the lights and shades which made it easy to turn everything on or off in the room. The bathroom even had a heat lamp which would be great for a cool visit. The pillows were some of the best hotel pillows I've had. I even slept with my hands between two of them! The casino was a good size with lots of slots, video poker and table games. They even had my favorite, Let it Ride. Although I didn't win, it was fun to play again as it seems to have just died out. The dealer was super friendly and talkative too, and not in an annoying way. Food options were good with nice options as well as a food court, sports bar, and coffee shop. Pros- there was plenty of space for our group of 20+ people to spread out on the property.  We had plenty of room for parking and were only a mile from a grocery store when we needed supplies. There were plenty of bath towels for our use and the AC on the second floor worked well.  There were board games, books and yard games for our group to use. Cons- the property felt rundown and neglected.  The lawn was too high when we arrived and was never mowed during the week we were there. Since we planned to spend a lot of time outside this was disappointing.  The deck on the Lake House is in need of serious repair.  There were pots full of dirt and weeds scattered around and the landscaping was so overgrown we could barely see the lake when sitting on the furniture.  There are some very soft spots in the decking that I was worried someone might actually go through.  The kitchen has an apartment size stove/oven which we were not expecting. The oven wouldn't even fit a standard baking sheet. Our kitchen seemed to be missing a lot of items: can opener, spatulas, a large bowl for mixing, sauce pans, etc.  We also didn't have a single clothes hanger in any of our closets or any floor fans, even though we were told there was at least one for us to use. We were told things get moved around from house to house when groups stay there, which is understandable. I think they need a list of basic items that should be in the house when the cleaning is done so it's ready for the next guests though. Luckily we knew the people in the other rentals and could borrow things from them. The AC on the main floor did not work well. The showers/bathtubs need to be updated.  The grout was stained/dirty and the shower head on the main floor bath was the smallest one I've ever seen.  The living room was a good size but so full of furniture it was hard to move around.  There are also electrical cords running along the walls on both sides of the TV.  You can tell they had to run those for the TV hook ups which is fine, but could be a problem if you have little kids in your group.  None of the outdoor spaces on the property were very well kept up or inviting places to hang out. Overall I feel like it was a good home base if you are going to spend the majority of your time offsite. This property has tremendous potential and would make an awesome small event venue if repairs were made and the grounds were properly cared for. If I was looking for a property for a group of 20-25 people I would stay here again because it is hard to find a place to accommodate that many people. But if I were looking for a place for just my family I would stay elsewhere.

For starters Ernie and Vivian were incredible host, honestly made us feel right at home the second we walked in. The Inn itself, is the perfect combination of old and new, well preserved antiques with modern amenities. We stayed in the spinning wheel room and it was very nice. Of course seeing threw the tub, into the bathroom, from the bedroom, wasn't a typical accommodation we understood that it was a temporary fix. They are planning on remolding the bathroom throughout the house soon. On the other hand, the bed was pretty rough. I hate to mention anything negative about this place but I had to at least prepare you for your sleep. Saying it's hard, would be an understatement. If they were to update the mattresses around the time they are planning on the bathrooms this would be in my top 3 B&B's we have stayed at. It's still in my top 5, but the bed is holding it back. However once you wake up crack your back and stretch out a bit you quickly forget there could've been anything wrong. The breakfast was a decadent feast with homemade jam, whipped cream, and even maple syrup. Then to burn it all off, there beautiful home is located on 127 acres of even more beautiful woods equipped with trails for easier walking. We will definitely be staying here again if we are even remotely close to this area again. Thank you Ernie and Vivian!
