We checked in last Tuesday. We drove over night from GA and we were exhausted. We got there before check in time and asked if there was anyway our rooms might be ready early. The check in person took pity on us and told us to give him an hour and he would have two rooms for us. He worked his magic and was able to get us close to each other and we were able to get some sleep almost two hours early. The breakfast was decent (scrambled eggs, home fries, and sausage links on the hot bar. Also had make your own pancakes, bagels, cereal, bagels, pastries, yogurt, oatmeal) All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The rooms look updated and were clean. The mini fridge was bigger than other places and actually had a separate freezer part which was nice. The beds were comfy. The pool looked clean. We didn't brave it because it was cool outside but saw several people did. One unique thing about this hotel is at night different groups of people were setting off fireworks at night. It seemed to be maybe out of town workers. The fireworks never bothered us and we never heard them from our room. Just wanted to mention in case someone might stay here that had ptsd. There are two nice areas on the side of the hotel with covering over the patios and patio furniture. We played cards with our family while we watched the fireworks show. They also have a swing set. We felt safe and comfortable here. We would stay here again if we were in the area. read more

Let me start by saying the price is why I picked this establishment, affordable, clean & close to Ferris which was my destination. My room was extremely cold and I could find no thermostat to kick on the heat. All the floor units were broken but I discovered the heat/air unit back in the bathroom area. I cranked it up to 80 degrees which by evening warmed the main room. There was a large gap under the door letting in the cold so I stuffed a bathroom towel to stop the draft. There was a newer shower unit but it wasn't finished and the faucet was caulked but came loose so to get the water flowing you had to manually move it to position. The hair dryer would not stay on unless you held the On button down with one hand while drying your hair. The desk chair was broken in half so thankfully I discovered it before sitting. Most everything wrong can be fixed easily as Ferris has a great construction program so I would advise HIRE THEM! read more

Over all, I originally liked this place. Problems: Ice machine was broken, snack machine ate my $5 bill, there were still dirty towels in the bathroom from the previous guests, and the pool was closed. I went to the front to try to get my $5 back, but was told I would have an answer in the morning from management. (Which never happened) I was told that they were not allowed to give money back due to this being a 3rd party machine. I only had even used the snack machine so I could get change for use of the washing machine, since I had just gone camping for a week and wanted some clean clothes. I had stayed 2 days here at the beginning of my trip, before heading off to camp. I stayed two days and got the upgraded room with the jetted tub, and one day a week later after camping in the same upgraded room. I assumed since I got an upgraded room and had just stayed there they would maybe give me a credit or something, but the absolute lack of any attention made me pretty mad. The gross used towel that was left next to the toilet absolutely ruined this place for me. The pool being closed should have also been disclosed at check in. read more

After a family emergency I had to call and cancel my reservation last minute. The worst customer service! Extremely rude management. I wish I would've never booked this hotel read more

Rudest staff you can imagine if you have an issue. If you look at responses to negative reviews on Google this manager takes no responsibility for anything. Calls every single complaint a lie. This is not someone that should be in hospitality. Be careful here. In my google review she blatantly lies and says the picture of the bug isn't her hotel. And the picture is most certainly her hotel!!!! Let's go to court and talk about defamation. You think I don't have better things to do then post fake reviews. Also she says we didn't start complaining until night just because we wanted a refund. Does a hotel manager actually not understand that people aren't in their rooms all day. And our complaints escalated when we were without power sitting in the dark. Did I somehow shut the power off of our hotel just to complain for a refund? Did I leave the hotel for another room three times the cost just for a refund? We were at a hockey tournament all day!!!! We turned on the heater when we checked in, room was still freezing when we got back! That was before we didn't have power. Also she is telling the truth when she says I didn't complain to them about the bugs, cleanliness or ice to them. I just wanted power and heat, I'm a respectful guest and I'm not going to sit there and complain about every little thing at a two star hotel. Unbelievable*** So we got into our room and there were dead bugs, the room was filthy, and the heat wasn't working. This was really concerning traveling with our baby. They brought us a space heater, shortly after that the power went out. We called the front desk, after about a half hour it seemed like they took care of it and it came back on. Only to go out again about ten minutes later. At that point we wanted a refund. The front desk gal was great when we checked in, horrible when we had an issue. Basically told us we can leave if we want to keep complaining. When my wife said we are leaving she said, "bye bye B word" but she actually said it. All because we complained about not having power multiple times. Then she told us we were banned and ran outside to take our license plate. On top of all that they don't salt the sidewalk, my wife and older daughter slipped and fell on the ice at different times. I'm not exaggerating. Literally the most horrible hotel experience I've had in my 34 years of life. The manager wouldn't speak to us, said she would in the morning. I really hate leaving bad reviews but this was a shockingly bad experience. When we got to the Hampton Inn after leaving they could not believe what happened. read more

Quality Inn & Suites - Dead bug near TV that the manager claims is not their hotel - Hotels Near Me - Big Rapids, Michigan

I stayed at this location on July 4th. checked in late at 12:30 am SMOKE all in the hallways leading to the room. non smoking hotel. it was late my 1st trip with my girlfriend. opened the cabinet door where the refrigerator was and tv was on top and place for clothing. i seen something crawling in the cabinet only the tv was on it was dark. i didn't want to alarm my friend on our 1st trip. couldn't sleep all night worried. when the sun came up i opened the door again there was a bunch of Roaches in the cabinet where the fridge was. we left and went to the front desk told them what happened and asked for a manager, they said the manager would be in Monday i left my number for mgt to call me. Wednesday no still no call but the clerk on duty said we checked and we don't have roaches. clearly they knew about what happen. still mgt call back by Friday. i called again the mgr. answered and said there are no roaches but clearly I didn't see 1 I seen several in a pack and running around in the cabinet. nothing has I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN !!! read more

BEYOND RUDE if you have any issues whatsoever. We booked 2 rooms for 5 days in August 2022. We've been patronizing this specific property for 10 years with about 3-4 visits per year each with several nights. During this last stay, we were charged $250. No one bothered to notify us. I called and hotel said it was for a broken refrigerator shelf on the door. We literally placed a few sodas in the fridge and it was in the main area, not the door. We absolutely didn't break it nor did we notice it was broke. Spoke to the manager, ALICIA WILLIAMS, who stated it was a flat $250 for any damage. She stated it was our responsibility to notice any damage at check in and notify the office. Of course we would if we had noticed and if we did break it, we'd have owned to up to it. I'd still have argued this but I'd be less upset if it were a $50 charge. Her response to my google review when I asked if guests were to inspect everything was - it's your responsibility. We rarely even use a fridge, never a micro or any of the drawers/cabinets so we are to do an inspection according to her. She claimed that she trusts her housekeeping to check absolutely everything, that they would notice anything out of order. Of course, she cannot offer any proof such as a check list. We asked for pictures, which she did send (below). It's a piece of plastic I assume was laying in the fridge somewhere as we never saw/noticed it. The other room had a/c issues , never really cooling off much and squeaking non stop when on. Maintenance came and said new units are still on back order. When we spoke to manager, she said that it was technically functioning (we used the other room we booked for comparison and the difference was huge and I guess constant squeaking should not bother us). We were told we should have asked for another room which may be true but we wanted to be booked next to the other room. Her response to my google review was that it works and there have been no complaints on that room since (it's only been 5 days since we checked out). ALICIA WILLIAM was so rude and condescending and essentially called us liars and would not even consider the fact that perhaps staff does not check every little item after every single guest. This particular establishment has no regard for long term, regular guests. When we return to the area in the fall, we will certainly not be going here nor at any time in the future. I expected more from Choice Hotels and I will dispute with my charge card bank and I will be in touch with corporate. read more

Front desk employees miss lead my wife and I on a seven night stay. Room was in terrible condition, broken doors, nonworking heater, morning of day three we asked them to clean the room. They finally did it on day four. Would not recommend this hotel. left five messages for the manager to contact me. Never called me back once. She is a liar. read more

My husband and I looked for a hotel late, and most in the area were booked, so we were thrilled to actually get a room. [We had actually planned on camping, but I wasn't feeling well]. Got to room and it looked nice. A suite sort of room, with a sofa/tv room and separate bedroom space. The room smelled funny, but we attributed that to being closed up all day without the ac in. We flipped on the ac and settled in (again, because I wasn't feeling well). A few hours pass and I get up to go to the bathroom....the reason for the smell was FLOATING in the unclean toilet!! GAG. So, the toilet wasn't cleaned. Ok. We also start to realize that it isn't getting any cooler in the room (room 122). AC doesn't work. It turns on and sounds like it is going, and then shuts off as if the compressor is freezing up. So, we sweat all night. From the bed you can SEE that someone has obviously had oily sex pressed up against the mirrored closet doors, because they aren't cleaned either. In the morning, we get up to shower, find crawling bugs in the bathroom. I took pictures. In the morning, I tell the woman who is serving the breakfast (there wasn't anyone at the desk), and even show her the pictures. Her response, "why didn't you call about the ac not working"....um, because it was the middle of the night. She said she would "tell management". AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. DIRTY. If they are not even actually cleaning the toilets, seriously. read more

I must say I was a little concerned at first but the price being $50 a night, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The hotel has gone through some recent renovations and is very nice-looking. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms very spacious, but the bathrooms were little cool feeling. The lack of lighting made it a little cave like. Aside from that, I really enjoyed my stay and would have no problem staying here in the future. read more

Front desk personnel Devon is rude, sarcastic and obnoxious. Does not know how to do the simplest task and really doesn't seem to care about his job or the inn. The facility its self is under construction so there is a lot of mess and noise and there was a guest with a dog in their room that kept barking. The inn is run down and not kept up. Would NOT recommend staying here as I will never stay at this location ever again read more

Just spent the night there on Saturday, September 6th. Had business in Cadillac, but the hotels up there were pretty expensive and we didn't need anything fancy. I was very pleased with our room, (#139) and would definitely recommend this hotel, but also come back again in the future. My impression is that it's being rehabbed at this time and the only real complaint with our room was a stain on the carpet about 12 feet from the door (they allow dogs..so my guess is that's what it is) and the remote for the TV didn't work properly. You could turn the volume up and down, but it was very hard to change channels. Overall...decent place and it felt safe there. read more

Very nice two room suite. King size bed with pull out couch in second room. Our son loved having his own room and TV. Very clean and well maintained. Outdoor pool was too cold to use, but it was a cool day anyway. Good breakfast and friendly staff. read more

DO NOT STAY at this hotel: BED BUGS!! I stayed at this hotel on October 25, 2019, my son is a student at FSU and it was family weekend. I woke up on Saturday morning with small red bites all over my back, chest, arms and ankles. After providing a letter to the office manager Alicia that I was seen at an Urgent Care facility she refused to accommodate me for any type of refund. Unacceptable establishment and management! read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! Staff was not helpful at all!!! Horrible attitudes and very impatient. That Country Inn just sounds better and better. What type of Quality Inn is not quality?? Breakfast was DISGUSTING !!!! Not much of a variety and very dry food. Does this sound like a quality Inn to you?? I don't think so. Save your money and aggravation and invest somewhere else. You'll thank me later. read more

Staff was excellent. The key card to our room didn't work; the manager issued a new card but found the door lock was defective. So, he moved us to a comparable room and even carried our luggage over there. Once ensconced, we had a pleasant night. The room was clean, quiet, and everything worked. We availed ourselves of the breakfast in the morning and, overall, were pleased with our stay. read more

Stayed here at the end of July 2016, as we needed a place to crash on the way up to Canada for a fishing trip. Great service, clean/comfortable room, and the night shift kid even let us grab coffee out of his personal coffee maker in the kitchen when we left at 4 a.m. the following morning. If you're just looking for a place to crash for a night, this is fantastic. read more

Started with us showing up very early AM and found we were charged as a no show even though we had called ahead and informed them of the time we were coming in and was given the ok. The person in charge saw the notes and did reverse the charges for us. Uncomfortable that access to the hotel side entrances and to the gym did not require a key. Our fridge only froze things no matter the setting. Our microwave did not cook properly. The shower was dangerously slippery so used towel for traction. The gym had an elliptical, treadmill and a bike of which none worked and the air conditioner in the gym did not work. The smell in the building strong of something like mold and some chemical. Appreciate the housekeeping and free WiFi. read more

Good room, good breakfast, friendly service, convenient to Ferris State .which makes for a very good value given the low price.

We stayed here one night. If you are seeking a low-cost clean hotel this is for you. Room was clean and breakfast in morning was plentiful. Would suggest that management have some ground service performed. Noticed that parking lot in several areas buckled and grass growing in the open tar areas. Also trash has collected around the building in the shrubs ( beer bottles and cans.) over all a nice place. read more

This is a lower priced motel with few amenities. Very simple, but quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Internet connection was good. A few small issues: toilet seat in room did not fit right; most machines in exercise center did not work. Price is not much less than other somewhat nicer motels in the area. read more

Very nice room. Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Good hot breakfast.

Great price Bad service. One of the teenage guys working there on sunday just stood there looking around while the older lady handled the customer in front of me. All he had to do was take my card bc i was checking out, laziness or inexperience, the maids gave me bad looks ask walked out of the hotel halls, i had just arrived there was no reason for this. next time ill just check out the Holiday Inn or Super 8 down the street, maybe they'll appreciate my business. read more

Awesome quality for a good price. Stayed over for a night for a professional school interview and paid approx 70.00$ for a night. Very quiet and clean place, very very spacious, and the TV looks brand new! The breakfast was amazing, there was a waffle maker so I had a lot of fun with that LOL. There is a convenience store and a Pizza Hut within walking distance of the hotel, which I think is a huge bonus in a very rural place like big rapids. read more

There were ants in the tub and they hadn't recaulked the tile on the shower walls mostly in the corners where mildew builds up so it looked a bit nasty. Otherwise it wasn't so bad.
