I showed a picture of how my hair was a month ago prior to the cut, explaining I only needed a maintenance cut, and the style I currently had (60/40 wavy split) is one I'd like to keep. He instantly nodded and seemed to understand everything I was asking, including length of the sides. By the end of the haircut, he had trimmed half of my hair off, front and back, killing the volume I had and gave me a high fade which I never asked for. My hair is now completely flat with no waves, super short where it looks like a military buzz, and the back of my head is now all the same length despite me asking for layering. I'm going to have to wear a cap for the next 2 months. It looks like a cheap haircut you can get anywhere for $15 instead of the $50 I paid. Completely amateurish and fraudulent. How does the barbershop even vet their hires? Incredibly deceiving and under qualified to label themselves as "master barbers" on their website. It's disappointing for me to write a negative review, as I've been a loyal client of Benny's…read moreBarbershop and Salon since this barbershop first opened on Classon Avenue many years ago. Unfortunately, the past three visits have left me frustrated. I usually book with Yuriy, who is an excellent barber and has always given me great haircuts. The issue is that Yuriy has not shown up for my last three scheduled appointments made through their online booking system. That system allows you to choose a specific barber and time, but if the barber doesn't actually check or honor those appointments, it defeats the purpose. The first two times this happened, I got a haircut from the other 2 barbers in the shop; one the first time, the other the second time. The results were ok--not bad, but not at the same level as Yuriy's work. The third time, Yuriy again didn't show up, and one of the other 2 barbers called him. Yuriy was apologetic, and asked me to come back the following day at a specific time, which I did, but once again he didn't show, and after waiting around for 15 minutes, I left. I don't mind trying different barbers, but once I found a barber I like I prefer to stick to him. if I book a specific person and they repeatedly fail to honor appointments, it feels unprofessional and unreliable. At that point, there's no reason for me to keep booking here when I could just walk into another shop. It's unfortunate, because Yuriy is truly very good. But unless the booking system and reliability improve, I can't recommend this barbershop if you want a specific barber to cut your hair.

I could give 0 stars for the service!!! Worst babershop experience So my brother is growing his hair out, and we came in to this place to get his back and sideburns trimmed as we had a birthday party on Sunday. We get that may be this is an unusual request, but its not hard to do. My brother sit down, and immediately the barber says he wants to cut his hair half an inch. He tells him no, to which he says that his hair has no style and he should cut it. My brother told him that just worked 8 hours so of course his hair is messy. The barber trims my hair, the entire time telling him very passive aggressively that he'll just do what my brothers wants. In the end, he does what he wants, not before getting in one last remark about how this is what I wanted and he basically did nothing, to which we told him thats fine. Finally, as if it wasn't enough, he charges us $40 for the trim...I felt they never listen requests and do what they want...We will never recommend this place... read more

I was attended to by an extremely proficient and amazing elderly man called Isak. His cutting speed was phenomenal yet he was gentle enough that the process did not feel uncomfortable or overbearing. He gave me plenty of space to sit and have a peaceful haircut without initiating too many conversations, but had a great smile on his face when checking in with me about how the haircut is going - I really appreciated this attentiveness, as it shows how much he wanted to do a great job. I was extremely pleased with the service and I'm 100% sure I will come back again. He also gave a free gelling/styling service at the end. Price wise it is also extremely affordable. It costs 25USD, for the service and speed that is entirely worth it. 100% recommend. read more

The lack of care I experienced here at this barbershop is utterly mind blowing. I took my son to get a haircut here but it was the biggest mistake i could have possibly made. First, the barber had told us we would only have to wait 10 minutes but 10 minutes turned into 30 minutes. When it was finally time for my son to receive his haircut, the barber was completely rough with him and nipped him in several places. Being that it was a child he was taking care of he should have at least tried to be more careful but that was not his priority. Word of advise, improve your customer service skills. Never again will i return to this barbershop. read more

I rarely converse during a cut, but even light conversation didn't take away from Sergio's focus or his work. During the beard trim, I truly wasn't sure what I wanted as I was in desperate need of a cleanup, but Sergio helped me go with the right decision. The shop was extremely well-kept also, which grabs major points when visiting a new barbershop. Definitely booking my next and all future cuts at Resident Barber, especially with Sergio.

Nice big picture frame of the 2006 Italian World Cup team and a big poster of the "mobster movie mashup painting" you can buy on the streets of Manhattan. Manny and Erick are the two barbers who cut the hair, there is a 3rd chair but is never used. Both guys are top notch at their job! Manny is the owner and much more popular so you may have to wait a little longer for him. Erick does a fine job too so if you are in a rush or it's crowded go with either. They are closed Sunday and Monday and like most Brooklyn barbers and do not take credit cards, cash only. A typical "fade" or "tapeup/shapeup" costs $15 for men, which is average for that cut. Prices are not posted, so ask before you get the cut if you are worried about money. A couple of tips: Both guys are very nice and will chat with you while you get your hair cut, but Manny can be too chatty at times and will take a long time to finish your cut if you are into a good convo with him! If you are in a rush go with Erick, he does a good job and will talk but won't stop. Some tough guys will try to skip you if it's crowded, they go on an honors system with the line so sit as close to them as possible and don't let people try to skip!
