I was in a short trip from Milwaukee to Chicago to attend a friend wedding, I've searched online and found this place with a good reviews and decided to go there to fix my dress that needs to be shortened 4 layers. My visit turned as perfect as I want it to be. The quality of the work was great, it was turned in time, and the prices were very reasonable. The most important was the high customer service of the two ladies I met there, they were carefully and nicely taken care of my concerns and requests. I like this place. I ended up going here to have my simple J. Crew wedding dress hemmed and to have some lace attached to the neckline. Given the fact that people often try to rip off brides, I was impressed that the people at Quality Alterations charged only $50. It did take longer than expected to get it back, so be sure to spell out precisely when you need it. But they did a great job. So I'd say it's affordable and quality. They do a lot of business, so it can get busy in there, but the quality of the work is worth it. read more

Let me start by saying that the owner of the store is such a nice person that it is alway such a pleasant experience to go there. And she is soooo good at alterations and she is very reasonable and that is why I drive fairly far every few weeks to get my clothes altered and cleaned. I get more things altered than I probably would ordinarily but things always look so good when they fit well. Right? And as I said, her prices are very reasonable. Brought a sun dress in to be altered and waited one week for it to be done. It should have been simple- just shortening the two straps. When I came in to pick it up the alteration was done by cutting the straps off and sewing them down to the inside of the bodice over the lining. I complained about the unprofessional job and the owner said she would fix it. When I returned to pick it up it was sitting in a heap by the sewing machine- not even hung up. The owner then wanted to charge me ten dollars more than the price originally quoted for the alteration because of the lining! read more

Based the good yelp reviews, I drove a hour out from my neighborhood to get my bridesmaid dress altered. To say that I was very dissppointed is an understatement. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews than positive reviews. During the first post-alteration fitting, one shoulder strap was shorter than the other. Rather than take responsibility for the clear mistake, the owner of this establishment states that I should have helped her take better measurements. I bit my tongue thinking that she's having a bad day. During the second fitting, the shoulder strap was corrected but the stitches at the front of the bodice came loose. Now, mind you, she put in these stitches and of course charged me extra. When I pointed out the loose stiches, she states that she knew it would turn out like this; there is nothing she can do, and advised me to pull the stiches out. I was floored. How does this woman run a decent buisness with her complete lack of professionalism?! At that point, I just grabbed my poor dress and walked out. If you are coming here for an alteration, I would seriously reconsider. Compared to before based on prior reviews, either she's gotten very busy or lazy. When I was last there,there was a gentleman who was having words with her as well, so I don't think my bad experience was an isolated event. read more

I stopped by Quality Alterations with the suit for my wedding that I had ordered online, and all of it needed small adjustments (pants, vest and jacket). The women helping me were very patient and wanted to make sure they fit it just right for me. When I came back to pick it up, all three pieces were perfect! I've been a quality alterations customer for 15 years. I started going there to get my clothes tailored and they do a great job. I've been able to buy fine suits on clearance (that didn't fit off the rack) and have Quality Alterations tailor the jacket and pants. I'm always pleased with the results that fit me perfectly at a very reasonable price. I liked them so much, I started taking my cleaning there as well, even though there are many cleaners closer to my home. The prices are outstanding, my orders are ready when promised and the staff is extremely friendly. My daughter had a bridesmaid dress that was HORRBILY mis-sized, called a size 14-16 a 5X and it still was about 4 inches too short in the back. Sharry basically rebuilt the dress, let me buy the materal, and went out of her way to make my daughter feel good about the whole experience. Once there was a mistake in an alteration and they repaired it for pick up the following day. I believe that their prices are comparable to others in the area, at least my experience suggests that. I used to go to QA with all kinds of alterations, especially pants (length, waist), and though service was somewhat inattentive, the final result was always professional. Then one day I took there a pair of pants for an alteration at the back. The young assistant attended me and I had no reason to suspect her competence. After trying the ready pants on at home I realized, however, that the repair was not smooth, creating a funny shape at the back. I returned to the store and the owner said she would fix that. Well and good. I came back several days later. The seam was now smooth. But then I suddenly noticed that the decorative seams (those that you have at the back of the jeans, above the pockets) did not meet each other. There was a half-inch gap, which of course also made one pocket higher than the other. As if instead of opening the back seam and taking fabric in, someone just folded the stitches and sewed on top. The top seam was itself totally crooked. As if, seeing how bad the first repair was, that somebody found no reason to invest time in this pair of pants. To add to this, when going to pick up the pants the second time I also brought in a torn crochet (knitted) scarf. The young assistant said she would repair it on the spot. She took a needle and a thread (not even the right color), squeezed the torn part, and in 5 seconds made several round stitches, tied the thread, and gave it back to me. Now I had a big, nice lump of threads on my scarf. I should have gone and insist that they repair the jeans again, but I was afraid that the fabric will show signs of the former failed repairs. I gave it up and with it I gave up on this place. read more

Sherry was amazing and took the time to fit me in and worked absolute miracles with the dress and basically remade the coat for me. She was wonderful to work with, very caring and was beyond reasonable with the price. The service was extremely efficient, pleasant, and quick - within ten days my dress was fully tailored, and the work was absolutely impeccable. What can I say that hasn't already been said about how great Cherie and Quality Alterations are. I have been a loyal customer many years now and there has never been a time or request that I was disappointed. The one thing that sticks out in my mind that happened just this year was in May - we had a big wedding to attend in NY and the first thing I wanted was to wear a jeweled dress that need alterations because I had lost weight. Cherie fixed this dress in spite of all the crystals and made it like a brand new dress. The next thing that happened was that my son, a rather robust man, needed a tux (he forgot to get his) in two days. Cherie found a tux that would fit him and all the accoutrements. It was a miracle. Extremely expensive and shoddy work. I brought in a formal dress for a replacement zipper, and not only did they sew the hook in the wrong place, they changed the placement of the sash. The dress still can't zip up properly, and when I took it back to make them fix it, they refused! Never ever EVER again. read more
