You're just not a number. The owner cares about the people that work in his company. He pretty much knows everyone's name. It's more common than not that you will see him walking through departments & on the production floor talking to people. He's not only visible during the day but is around the factory talking to night shift employees too.
I've worked in a couple manufacturing companies & as in any company, some leaders are easier to work with than others. If you can learn to understand each other, it gets easier. Some managers definitely take the time to get to know you & are willing to answer questions to help you understand whether it's in your department or not. Hard work & dedication to your job is noticed. Overall I'd say all employees get along & some have become good friends.
Lots of good benefits too. It's cool that they have fun things throughout the year like grilling hot dogs, make your own sundae, popcorn day, employee appreciation breakfasts, etc.
At the end of the fiscal year if the company is profitable, the owner shares some of it with his employees with a bonus which is cool because it happens around Christmas time - you can't be guaranteed this will happen but when it does, it's great!
Working 12 hour shifts is long for the factory but having a 4 day work week is a bonus. When things are busy Friday & sometimes Saturday shifts are available if you want some extra $$. Fridays have been mandatory when demand is huge.
