Telemarketer. These businesses like to tell people how to advertise their business but need to make cold calls to sell their own stuff.

So, I found Communicate By Design (CBD) after having a couple of not-so-great, to disastrous…read moreencounters in our search for a go-to graphic designer. Turns out, they were a much better fit for our company than simply just for graphic design! CBD is a small company out of Sterling. But they aren't so small like a freelance graphic designer with no accountability who just disappears on you (yep that's happened to us!). They aren't so big that it takes 2 weeks to get a quote (yep, that's happened to us!). For our small business, they have been a great fit. The longest it took to get a quote which was our first experience with them involving multiple pieces was 2 days. Quite reasonable. Now that we've been working with them and just need one-offs, I usually get pricing that day or the next. The nice thing about them is that we came in with a brochure done by another designer and asked them to emulate it for the 2 other brochures we needed. And they did. We've given them other pieces where we've had a concept and asked them to stay with our concept...and they did! Whether or not they agreed with our direction they never said anything to us. It was so nice not to have to fight a designer with what we wanted. However, I will say, they did point out an improvement to the way we were using our trademark and we made the change based on their direction. Their graphic design work is quick too - we usually got edits back within a day. Here's a bonus tidbit to know if you need print work: Their printing costs are quite cheap and they work with local printers and know which ones excel at certain things for the best price. So, our folders were sent one place, brochures another...it varies based on which printer does the best/most reasonable work. However, if you have a printer you like to use, they will send it to whomever you like. They are local to our company so we can just pick up our projects when they are ready. Their offices are not wheelchair accessible, but they do have a fulfillment area and a tiny lobby (no receptionist) on the main floor if you need to stop by and pick up your stuff if you can't make it up the stairs. I didn't give them 5 stars yet because we haven't given them any work to just run with to see how their graphic design from a blank slate is (we've always had a concept). Oh, and one more thing...when you get your bill, its itemized so you see exactly how many hours and what was done for your project. Ours came in cheaper than our original quote - score!

I'm really unhappy with my experience with Network Solutions. I have a domain name that I've had…read morefor a while that I refuse to give up. I don't do anything with it so every year I have this internal debate on whether I should keep paying to keep it. The cost isn't trivial (hence the debate) but I always end up just shrugging my shoulders and keeping it. I had auto-renewal turned off in case I changed my mind and it's always such a painful process to renew as they make you step through page after page where they try to upsell you services I didn't want/need. I never bothered shopping around for other domain name registrars because I didn't want to go through the hassle of doing that (shame on me). I decided this was the year I would shop around and I was shocked at what I found. Each year I was paying $39.99 for the renewal of my domain name and $15.99 for the renewal of private registration for that domain name. Remember this is not for a website or any other functionality associated with the domain name. The domain name registrar I transfered to charges less than $20 a year for BOTH the domain name renewal and private registration. That is an enormous cost difference. Network Solutions also makes it quite painful to leave them. All domain name transfers require an "auth code" as part of the process to verify that you are indeed the owner of the domain name. I was shocked that after I requested my auth code that I was told it would be delivered in THREE days for security reasons. If security was the true reason for this delay wouldn't emailing the owner of the domain name saying "Hey, did you request an auth code?" be a top priority? I received no such correspondence. Since I had three days to kill I researched how some of the top registrars handle this. Almost all of them let you generate your auth code immediately. After three days I was emailed an auth code. Once I initiated the transfer with the auth code in another four days the domain name transfer away from Network Solutions took place. The one positive thing I can say is that I was able to do all of this without any complications and without having to call them.

I was having problems with Network Solutions continuously locking me out of my email account every so often, which each time I have to call them so they can unlock my account and receive my new emails. So when I finally had enough, I signed up with a well-known IT company, and when I called Network Solutions (I hadn't canceled my service yet at that time), to get my account unlocked, which I told Network Solutions that I need my password to work so the new company can migrate my emails into their server. As I was on the phone with Network Solutions customer service representative, I was able to unlock my account, and saw the 06/10/26 new emails pop up, but to my horror, I saw within a blink of an eye, ALL my emails prior to 06/10/26, going all the way back to 2014, disappearing so fast! All emails in my in-box, all emails in my email folders, EVERYTHING, GONE! Each and every email, thousands and thousands of my work emails all gone. I also used it for my personal finances, all them emails all gone as well. The representative said not to worry, that he'll escalate the case to recover my emails. After calling Network Solutions every single day, I finally receive an email to my personal email account, stating that they cannot recover my emails. I called Network Solutions, and they confirmed on the phone that the emails cannot be recovered. This has a tremendous negative impact on my business, and will continue to harm my business for years to come. I have sent two emails to Network Solutions legal department, and they have not responded. I have spoke to an attorney to see what my options are, and I will be suing Network Solutions, LLC for the damages that they have caused me. Stay away from this company.
