Leo Man DDS- QH Dental was recommended to me by my insurance after i had bad experience with my previous dental office . Can't express my gratitude with words! Initially I suffered from extreme pain in my lower left jaw/ teeth (was so bad i couldn't figure out which tooth it is). Not only I was seen same day, I had my fillings done that day and the pain that i endured and tolerated since November , which didn't go away even with meds - was gone same day. Week later I was seen for wisdom teeth removal surgery. It was done quick and efficiently under local anesthesia. Considering I had great anxiety it went very well. Dr. Man is very compassionate and observant. Made the procedure very comfortable , listened to feedback (noise- if i made any ) and made sure everything is going smooth. Needless to say on the second day after my surgery not only i have no swelling , i have virtually no pain or stiffness to complain about. I had a very disappointing experience at QH Dental. I came in as a new patient and had a few questions for the hygiene assistant, who said she would relay them to the dentist. However, when the dentist came in, the assistant spoke with him but never mentioned any of my questions. The dentist didn't greet me or introduce himself. He immediately told me to lie down and began working on my teeth without any explanation or attempt to make me comfortable. There was no effort to check in with me during the procedure, even though I flinched multiple times in pain. He didn't ask if I was okay or adjust his approach. After finishing, he simply got up and left without saying a word. I was the first patient of the morning, so there's really no excuse for that level of disengagement and lack of care. It honestly set the tone for how little attention they give to patient experience. To make matters worse, the receptionist was pushy about leaving a 5-star review without even asking how my visit went. That felt very off-putting given the actual experience. Beware: The Worst Tooth Extraction Experience of My Life During my cleaning appointment, the front desk kept praising Dr. Man's "painless" extraction skills and strongly encouraged me to book my wisdom tooth removal with them. When I came back for the extraction, I even asked the nurse beforehand if Dr. Man would be performing the procedure. She said yes -- that he would be in shortly. But once the procedure started, Dr. Man never showed up. Instead, an inexperienced new doctor was sent in and ended up doing the entire extraction himself. One tooth had already fully erupted, yet it still took over 30 minutes to remove. Even worse, the anesthesia was done incorrectly, causing me intense pain -- they had to inject me three more times just to numb the area properly. The second tooth was impacted and required cutting into the gum. After making the incision, the doctor left me bleeding and in pain for 10 minutes before finally bringing in Dr. Man to finish the job. All of these experiences clearly show just how unprofessional, irresponsible, and unethical the doctors and medical staff at this clinic are. This was by far the most careless and morally lacking dental team I've ever encountered. I felt completely misled and deceived by both the front desk and the people who were supposed to be taking care of me. Cleanings might be okay at QH Dental -- but if you want to avoid a terrible extraction experience, do not go there for any tooth removal. I truly hope no one else gets misled into having an extraction done at this place. read more

I am writing to express my frustration with the terrible service I've received during my last two visits to your office. The lack of professionalism and poor organization has been so bad that I feel it's necessary to warn other patients and file complaints with the Irvine Company (your landlord) and the Dental Board of California. On my first visit, I had an appointment scheduled for 9:00 AM. I arrived on time, but the front desk staff member responsible for verifying my insurance was late. After being asked to sit in the dentist's unit and get ready for my appointment, I was then told I had to leave because the staff member couldn't verify my PPO insurance. This is especially frustrating because I've used my insurance at multiple other offices without any issues. No one at your office seemed to know how to handle something as simple as insurance verification. I had another appointment to get to, so I had no choice but to leave. I gave your office another chance and scheduled a follow-up appointment at 11:00 AM, hoping the issues would be resolved. While my insurance was verified correctly this time, the rest of my experience was just as bad. A woman, who wasn't even wearing scrubs, cleaned my teeth in about five minutes, and then I was told to wait for Dr. Man. I waited an entire hour ( 60 minutes) , but Dr. Man never showed up. I had a meeting to attend, so I had to leave without seeing him. Before I left, I asked them to pass along my contact information to Dr. Man so he could explain why I was scheduled at a time when no doctor was available. It's been four days, and I still haven't heard from him or anyone at his office. This is completely unacceptable. The fact that no one has followed up shows either extreme negligence or complete incompetence on your part. I believe either the office staff didn't pass along my information to Dr. Man (which suggests intentional neglect) or Dr. Man himself is aware of the situation and doesn't care. Either way, this is a failure in both patient care and professionalism. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of respect for my time and the poor service. Your office needs to do better, as it is clear you are not prioritizing your patients. read more

Based on my experience, more than 80% of dentists seem to be money-focused, constantly trying to upsell and cross-sell. It's hard to find a dentist whom I can trust. I recently switched to QH Dental from my old dentist on Waterworks Way, who had been trying to upsell to me for years and from whom I felt I needed a second opinion. To make a long story short, Dr. Nguyen is an honest and trustworthy dentist. Moreover, he is very careful, precise, and focused on the patient's best interests. Shockingly inefficient, I was scheduled as the first patient of the day at 9 am and was somehow not seen until 10:20. Once seen the full cleaning took 20 minutes and the service was fine. Don't believe them when they say they take your insurance, make sure you check with your insurance before getting any service from this place, I tried to cancel my appointment because our dental insurance has changed, the owner-Ivy insisted that I sent her a copy of my insurance card so that she can check, she told me that they take my new insurance after I sent her a copy of my insurance card so then I had my teeth cleaning done, and so did my wife, and we were hit with a hefty bill of 300 dollars for two simple teeth cleaning five months later because they are actually out of network of my insurance... Small dental office in the beautiful Quail Hill area. Office has a friendly vibe. Clean with lots of windows and natural light. The staff are very kind and do a great job of communicating via text message. My hygienist Sonny was amazing, very gentle and thorough, I asked for a little extra TLC in a certain area and she took great care of me. Bigger dental offices I've been to in the past really try to sales pitch you into XYZ product, there was none of that here. As a sales professional myself, I REALLY appreciate this. They remind you of appointments, are flexible, and take most insurances. There is virtually no waiting time as well and the office is clean and modern. My experience with QH dental was wonderful!! I was drawn in by the $59 special that included all of my xrays and cleaning!! My first impression was how clean the office was. The Decor was very modern (not like the old school dentist I was used to going to) and the couches were very comfortable. The front desk receptionist, Gina, was very personable and she answered all of the questions I had about the dentist. My assistant, Alex, was great!! I have big fear of the dentist and I was very scared to have X-rays taken, but Alex did a great job! He walked me through every step and explained all about the X-ray process! Once he was done he wiped down the X-ray machine before he put it away. I could tell he was very cautious about making sure everything was clean and It made me feel great to see that. Dr man was extremely kind and he has a great sense of humor. For my cleaning he used a new machine that gently removed all my build up. I was so relieved that i did not have to endure the scraping sound during my entire cleaning. Overall I will recommend this place EVERYONE. Dr. Kim and her assistants, Alex and Jackie made my visit pleasant and comfortable. Especially during the x-rays and cleaning. I removed my wisdom teeth last August here and paid in full before the surgery. They told me they would give me refund once the insurance company approved the claim, but it's been almost half year and they still didn't give me the refund. Every time I reach out to them they said "we will get back to you" and then just disappeared. Don't go to this place. they not gonna solve the problem for you because they already got the money from you and you'll never get the refund and you don't know why. read more

I went in to get a filling for a front tooth and discovered I had a cavity in my right molar. Not only do I have constant pain in the cavity filling, not only did he have me wait for 3 hours when I had a set appointment, but I had to return to even out my front tooth filling because as Dr Man said he "is not very good with fillings" and left them uneven. I literally can not bite out of the right side due to uneven molars and I can not trust him to fix it. Go elsewhere. read more

Dr. Jacques retired and sold the practice to these new guys. Dental cleaning is by the dentist now instead of the meticulous dental hygenists who previously worked here. Cost cutting, I get it. But dental cleaning should be done in the following order, visual examination, x-rays if needed, scaling with manual tools, polishing and flossing. The dentist this time polished first and then proceeded to use the Caviton ultrasonic scaler to finish the cleaning. That's fine but can pose a risk to damaging crowns if proper care is not used. read more

In early January I had a dental emergency after biting into something and losing my tooth (I had previously had a root canal on this tooth over 10 years prior and it was already weak). I am new to the Quail Hill neighborhood so I called the nearest dental office and was provided a same-day appointment with Dr. Man. Unfortunately my tooth was too damaged to repair and my options were a bridge or a dental implant. I went with the dental implant and Dr. Man performed the procedure that same day in under an hour. He was quick, efficient and the best part was that it was all painless. I returned to work the very next day with absolutely no swelling or discomfort. I think he is a magician. My healing process has been easy and although it is a 6 month waiting period for my permanent tooth to be placed, the temporary one I have blends in seamlessly and hasn't caused me any issues. Dr. Man knows what he is doing and the staff in his office (thank you Ivy!) are always welcoming and professional. I'm so grateful for their hard work and care. The old hygienists at this location were meticulous and worked very hard so I didn't mind the higher cost. I showed up on time this morning, to brand-new people running the office. I was sitting in the dental chair for 20 minutes waiting, then they sent in someone who didn't know how to even use the equipment and kept having to get up to find things, and then the actual doctor spent about 15 minutes cleaning my teeth. $122 for that. I'm happy to have found this great dental office so close to where I live, accepts most insurance, has excellent doctors and staff. I got an appointment for the same week. They text you details so its very convenient. The appointment was on time, professional, and painless. Maybe 30 minutes. The dentist was very gentle; none of the prodding that makes people hate these appointments. The assistants and staff were also great, gentle, and were very friendly. The offices are clean and well-spaced. I went during covid and it was very clean and safe. Ok, this is how it started. I met Dr. Jane at my office in March where I treated her for overuse and restrictions in her neck and shoulders which are common for dentists. Well on this Sunday while I was enjoying a tootsie roll pop I broke my front tooth which I cracked a few years ago while doing situps with a 45 plate. Back then we used iron plates, not rubber. I text Dr. Jane and send her a shot of my tooth, she wrote back, "Oh no! is it a crown or your natural tooth?" I replied It was a fix what was done years back, "Okay, but is the tooth your natural tooth or do you have a crown?" Natural, "That's good, I can see you tomorrow in our Irvine Office" Note this: they care of emergencies also. Since I spent my time helping others as they do Its nice to have your schedule considered with you have an emergency taken care. So I got to the office and met Gina who was very helpful with reviewing what I would receive as a first time client. Nice! What struck me that I have not experienced with other dentists was a brief what she would be doing next, including all the showers I received, I knew about it before it happened. Dr. Jane is a fine dentist in so many ways, her professionalism, caring, oh the caring she does and it shows. What I think is really cool is she is a perfectionist, which translated she would provide the best service that a person can receive. I looking forward to spending more time with this office since I will probably need a root canal which I was happy to know that Dr. Kim will be happy to take care of it for me. I had a wonderful experience today with QH Dental. I had been a client of Dr Jacques (the previous Dentist) for many years until QH took over and, like many I suppose, was weary of the experience I might encounter. It's always hard changing and developing new relationships with Dr's and their staff but QH made is seamless and I'm very grateful. Gina at the front desk was very friendly and checked me in promptly. She was able to transfer over most of my information so I didn't have to fill out a ton fo paperwork. The dental assistant, Tang, brought me back and made me feel at ease and comfortable before Dr Kim came in to assess my teeth less than a minute after sitting in the chair. Dr Kim did a thorough job at cleaning my teeth with a water pick and scrapper after checking for cavities then Tang finished up with a good polish and flossing. Tang checked me out at the front desk and gave me a giant goodie bag filled with stuff. To be honest, I believe they did a better job than Dr Jacques and I appreciate how much time Dr Kim spent with me for just a preventative cleaning. I have to say I rarely saw Dr Jacques unless I said something in my mouth was bothering me or something showed up in an X-ray that was questionable. I have already booked my next cleaning in six months and if old customers of Dr Jacques are reading this I have to say you have nothing to worry about in this transition. read more
