I wanted the surf and turf bowl. Sadly, they were out of the shrimp. I then thought about doing half and half with two proteins and was told this wasn't an option. The concept is similar to chipotle you pick a protein and the toppings you want. I ended up getting a chicken bowl, but the taste just wasn't there for me. The wait was honestly a little ridiculous when we got here. There were 3 people in front of us and the line was not moving. Seemed like they only had one employee working the line. The food was honestly kind of bland. It was similar to pollo tropical as if they had made a line style restaurant. The chicken lacked flavor and the cilantro rice didn't have much cilantro. The guac tasted like mush and the overall portions were pretty small. We sat down on a Tuesday night at about 7:30 ish if that matters. In all honestly I'd rather have chipotle than qdoba. If you've ever had catered food you would know that bland feeling and taste I'm referencing. As a top 5 percent in Mexican restaurant reviews member that's just my opinion. We tried this for the first time the end of the year. It reminded us of chipotle, only without having to pay extra for items that should obviously come with the meal. I didn't care too much for the queso dip. It wasn't bad but if not hot for long it doesn't taste as good. The location is convenient and inside was clean. Service was good and fast. Food wise? Their presentation sucks, when they make your bowl it doesn't look appealing. Taste wise it was ok, I wasn't overly impressed. Parking can be a little bit of a struggle since this is a busy shopping center. QDOBA is right on Pines in a new plaza. I've never tried it so decided to get a bowl to go tonight. There was a line to order but the staff moved fast to get everyone taken care of. The place is clean and basic for a take out place. I might eat outside next time. QDOBA is the same concept as Chipotle except they seem to give more topping choices. The free guacamole really added a nice touch. I enjoyed the Birria bowl. I forgot to ask for sour cream so the hot sauce didn't have the cool and creamy that I usually enjoy with it. Qdoba in West Pines! Located right in the corner of Dykes Rd & Pines Blvd, it's in the same plaza as the Crunch gym and First Watch. Came here after a workout to share a bowl with my partner and it did not disappoint. I haven't eaten at a Qdoba since college! Of course, I'll always compare it to Chipotle but one of the things that they have a one up on them is the free guac and queso. Their portions might not be as big but the free guac and queso is a plus, along with more flavor options. We ended up getting a bowl with the seasonal habenero lime steak. It was really good! The place was super clean and the staff was quick and friendly. We came 30 minutes before closing and never felt too rushed to get out and we finished eating 10 minutes before close. Stopped in around 7 pm and the place was busy with a long line that moved pretty quickly. It's very similar here to Chipotle in the fact that you can build your own bowls, burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. Unlike Chipotle you can also get nachos here. I ordered a steak burrito with rice, black beans, salsa , sour cream, guac and cheese . I've read some reviews that said the portions were on the small side but I didn't find that was the case at all. The flavors of the burrito were very fresh and I liked that the steak wasn't too spicy. We also ordered the queso and homemade tortilla chips and they were delicious. Qdoba opened a couple months ago and it is a very clean and modern restaurant to eat at. The staff is friendly. I ordered guacamole and a chicken burrito. I thought the guacamole was a little bland. Still good bit maybe could use more lime in it. The chicken burrito was delicious and very filling. I was able to save some for lunch the next day. My company ordered catering for about 500 people. The burritos were stuffed mostly with unseasoned dry rice and crusty black beans. Barely any meat or veggies, I could only eat about one third because it was so hard to choke down, even with the salsa added, which was the only thing that made it slightly edible for me. Would much prefer Chipotle as their rice is seasoned and everything is flavorful. Also, it seemed like Qdoba did not prepare for this catering order correctly. On top of having a 30 minute delay, it clearly seemed like they didn't make enough protein for 500 people, because the burritos were 75% rice. Ive been introduced to Qdoba from my days in NC so im glad that they made their way down south. The location is close by and easily accessible from i75. I ordered a salad and a bowl. If you are looking for chipotle portions its not here. They limit your portions here but not in NC so i was shocked by that. Well worth the wait in line! Took us about 10-15 minutes on a Friday night. Wish we had pictures of the food (promise I will update with good photos next time we go!) Hubby had a pork bowl, I had the beef nachos. Queso certainly has a kick to it, chips were quite salty, but everything was super delicious! Our favorite parts were the guacamole and customer service. After having driven by this place every day for months I decided to head in for a meal. I absolutely loved the delicious quesadilla - I chose the pulled pork, cheese, and tomato as the ingredients. They cooked it right in front of me and it was absolutely delicious and the cheese was stringy and just wonderful. I know who these folks are primarily competing with and they are far superior. I went online first to look at the menu in advance just to be sure there was something on the menu that I could eat. When we arrived the line was LONG. But you know, often long lines mean nothing when the staff is efficient. But this line wasn't moving at all. We literally stood in one spot for twenty minutes. I was ready to leave but the kids wanted to try it since they'd never eaten here before. I'd noticed online that they had vegan meatless meat on the menu so that's the reason I'd agreed to come here. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, we finally made it to the front only to learn that they didn't offer the vegan meatless item and the young lady seemed so confused at what I was asking for so I spoke with the manager and he told me that they had it on the menu because they "may carry it eventually" but even he didn't seem confident in his answer. After the long wait, we took our food to go and I thought my food was very tasteless and bland. They also didn't have corn that day so I basically had a plain bowl of rice, salsa, avocado because no one knew if the beans had meat. The staff all seemed brand new and looked very lost. Some of them just stood around and watched while the others did the work (which is likely why the line was moving so slowly. I don't like giving bad reviews but I was so highly disappointed in the lack of knowledge from the manager, the lack of guidance from the manager towards the staff who looked confused and kinda stood there looking back and forth, and the food that didn't taste good at all. Move over Chipotle, there is a new a game in town. If you like Mexican food, you know that South Florida lags behind when it comes to to this cuisine. There aren't a lot of really good Mexican places. That is why I was thrilled to see Qdoba. It is located across from Costco in the new Publix shopping center. When you go in you can choose what you want- bowls, quesadillas, 3 tacos (soft and hard, corn or flour), burritos and then you choose your protein and toppings and sauces. The list of proteins is varied including adobo chicken, pulled pork, surf and turf, ground beef (a bit spicy, yum!) chili lime shrimp and veggie and the best, in my opinion- brisket. The server who was very patient and helpful told me the ground beef was spicy and asked me if I wanted to try anything before I made a decision. I ordered the three tacos and a chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla is very big, and they put a lot of cheese (both on the top and bottom) and chicken on there. Then she heated it in front of me. It was delicious! The chicken is spiced by not spicy and the cheese was melted and perfect. For the soft tacos, the server told me I could mix and match, so I got two brisket and one chili lime shrimp. They have a lot of toppings and sauces AND EVERYTHING is free- including the guacamole and the queso! She put a lot of guacamole on my tacos! No stingy servings here. Ok. Holy smokes. The brisket taco - YUM. It is so so good. The perfect combo of pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. The brisket is melt in your mouth, not in any way like fast food. I would eat it over and over! I also liked that they have straw free lids. I try not to use straws because they fill landfills and our oceans and kill turtles. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of a place that knows this. The lid is brilliant and works perfectly without a straw! The restaurant is airy and open with lots of windows.
