I've always liked Q'doba more than Chipotle. Q'doba just has more options and their chips and guac just taste better. Like another reviewer said the chips have a hint of lime flavor. Most of the time I'll get the Mexican gumbo cus it's just so damn yummy. They now have a Q'doba rewards card so yes my Q'doba you get 5 stars. Plus the guy serving up my food was very nice and brought me over a cup even though I didn't order any drink (I had a bottle of water with me). He said "if u want some water". I'm in the also in the boat of Qdoba is better than Chipotle. They have hotter sauces than Chipotle and I like some heat. I also think the pork is better. The first time I had Qdoba someone gave me a buy one get one coupon and I ate almost both burritos. This being said I do not eat here because I need more than just one. That's an expensive lunch. I got a Mexican spot (see Cinco De Mayo review) in New Brunswick with bigger burritos than your standard Q and only $4.50. I will return....with a coupon. read more

Always was a Chipotle fan but that's before I ever actually went into a Qdoba! It has the same set up as a Chipotle but with so much more options! Pricing is about the same. This location is great during the day. The daytime staff is super friendly and will learn your order. The evening staff is ok. Much more lax and not the best at making burritos. Usually busy chatting than working but I guess that's because it is slow in the evening. (which means more tables) Oh and they have that Cocoa Cola machine with 100 types of soda! +++ Qdoba beats Chipotle Just a minor update: This place changes staff more than I change my underwear. Which kind of sucks because the new people never know how to make a burrito or just don't know how a regular likes their order. Hopefully this changes soon. Normally I try to avoid writing reviews about chain restaurants, but I guess this is technically a franchise that's locally owned, and given how much better Qdoba is (in my perspective of course) than the other two big burrito guys, I feel compelled to leave a few words. Let me start by saying that what you get here is pretty much the same as what you will get at any other Qdoba location- whether the one just up the road in Westfield, down south in Tampa, or all the way out west in Seattle (I've been to locations in all those cities by the way). But that may can be a good thing. You know that what you are getting is consistent with your expectations, and that you'll be able to get something a little more creative than your typical burrito. A little over a year ago, Qdoba started including all sauces and topping for free on any menu item. Guac, queso, veggies, extra salsa, sour cream, you name it. Sure, the price of the burritos went up a little bit, but the nice thing is that you don't get nickel and dimed on everything. And I do think that some of the flavors that you can get st Qdoba are much more complex than what you can get elsewhere. Case in point, the mango chicken salad they have every summer. Tell me one other national burrito chain that uses fresh fruit in their salsas? In terms of what this location does unique, I guess the best I could come up with is that you never have to wait in line. And there's always plenty of seating, including some communal high tops in the center stocked with napkins and hot sauce, both very important things when it comes to enjoying a burrito. One tip, lose the tortilla and get a bowl with half the amount of rice. Still way more than enough to eat. Minus one star because they charge extra for chips. read more

I'm quite torn about what to say about this place because there were some very good things about it but there were also some very bad things that I saw. I'll start off by saying that I was interested in trying this place because I enjoy Chipotle and while I'm not deterred from going there after people getting sick, I just wanted to see a different take on the concept. I'll start off with the good. First, there was no line when I got here in the late afternoon on a Sunday. That's expected because the late football games had kicked off so there weren't as many people out. The food behind the counter looks fresh and the person who greeted me to take my order was nice and welcoming. The process is almost a carbon copy of Chipotle, so if your used to building you own burrito or bowl, this should be a breeze. The prices aren't that bad and are on par with what you would expect from casual fast food. Now for the bad. As someone who works a fast food restaurant, I'm more keen to picking up on things that are good and bad when it comes good handling and general food safety. The first big thing I saw was that a crew member came in and was visibly sick with a cold (lots of sniffing/some coughing). He didn't put gloves on to handle the food nor did he attempt to cover his coughs. Instead he turned away from the food and coughed. Not good! Second, a different crew member bumped into a dish and it fell to the floor. No problem I've done that and usually the proper thing to do is to put it in the sink to be washed later. He didn't. Instead he put it back where it was and didn't bother to wash it. Also not good!! So my conclusion is that the food was good here, but some of the simple food safety guidelines that have to be followed to keep people healthy were not followed. This is a big problem and has to be addressed my management. I can't in good conscience recommend this place if they are not going to care enough about their customers to keep them healthy. Go here at your own risk and enjoy the food but know that you may get sick after. read more

I was very impressed with this location. I usually frequent their competition because of my work location. I have never seen a bigger and fatter burrito. I had the seasoned ground beef Burrito, chips, and a soda for $10.99. The chips were nice and salty just like I want them. The salsa was perfect. Service was good and friendly. As of right now, they are at the top of my list for best fast-food Mexican. Can't beat the size and taste of the burrito, the amazing amount of chips they give, and the price. Great value. Better off going to Chipolte at Menlo Mall or the Qdoba's in New Brunswick, this place rips their customers off. Every time (4 times) I come here I always ask for extra meat in my order and they charge me $1.89 extra and they never add another spoon full of meat they add less than half. I don't get it. I like meals with a lot of protein. I don't mind paying extra but don't provide less than what I paid for. I've learned my lesson I'm not eating here anymore. read more

I like the food at Qdoba always and usually have a great experience. But I visited a new location this time (Edison, NJ) and was amazed at the rudeness of the staff. It was easily my worst experience at any restaurant ever and I thought I should definitely report this because I do not think this is how you want to treat your customers. We asked if we could have some cilantro on our tacos and we could have simply told that we are out right now. Instead, the lady looks at me and says, "seriously?"!! Then another lady from the register comes to us and starts talking in the rudest possible manner. She goes, "Let me tell for the last time that after 8:15 pm, whatever is visible on the counter is all we have." She went on with rude comments and I was shocked at the behavior. Let me point out here that the store's closing time was 10 pm. I then gave her a coupon that I wanted to use for my visit and she said, "The only reason you came today is that you had this coupon, right?" The company sends us coupons to attract customers, not to humiliate them for no reason. I have never been mistreated more at any other place. If I was just politely told that they were out of cilantro, I wasn't going to say anything and was still going to pay for the food. The rest of the misbehavior was just out of nowhere. read more

I have never been thrilled with this particular establishment. There is a Qdoba in New Brunswick that I found much better in service and organization. The Edison food is almost always soggy, and does not live up to the standard of the New Brunswick establishment. Today, and for the second time, I have sent my son to pick up an order to go. The quesadilla in the Craft 2 was cheese and meat and I think some tomatoes, even though I poured over the online menu and chose carefully what I would like on it. I am very disappointed, I will hesitate to go there again, and we have been pretty regular customers. I can live with a quick trip to the New Brunswick establishment. read more

To be honest, I think Chipotle's food tastes better. However, this is the best Qdoba restaurant I have been to. The employees are nice enough and are not stingy when it comes to portions (like Chipotle). AND you have to taste the chips! The chips are 1000x better than Chipotle's. okay. I gave this location one last try and now I'm done. Today, I went in (mid afternoon) and ordered our usual naked burrito bowls...one with rice and one with no rice, veggies added to the one with no rice (Yes, I know that is extra money and I still want it, thank you), skipped the peppers and onions this time because they looked uncooked. I had to ask the girl making the bowls to please give me a serving of vegetables (not the 6 pieces of zucchini she tried getting away with), please put a full serving of cheese on both bowls (what is it with filling a spoon up with each ingredient I asked for and then dumping half of the spoon back before putting the rest on my plate???). After I had to ask her (manager standing right next to her, no comment from him) to please give me a full serving of each of the items I asked for and am paying for, I mentioned that the portions are very inconsistent and today I am feeling cheated. Rude and obnoxious. Customer service is garbage. Ordered a pick up for 3:30 got there at 3:41 my order and went even prepped. Name calling started after I appeared to be discomforted with the service. It was maybe the worst take out experience I ever had.
