With all the genuine Mexican restaurants within the Carson and Eagle Valleys, there's not much reason to dine out at "fast food" places like Qdoba, Chipotle, or Taco Bell. Yet, a few nights ago, here I was at Qdoba and only because the nearby La Salsa had closed. I considered the nearby In-N-Out, but both the inside and outside lines were insane. Past that at Topsy, there wasn't much else to choose from. It was kind of lonely walking in as there was only one other customer seated and the good folks behind the counter seemed like they just wanted to go home. The menu is similar to Chipotle, as you pick the style (burrito, bowl, etc.), the protein, and then toppings. I went with a bowl, containing Adobo Chicken, Black Beans, Brown Rice, Corn Salsa, and little bit of grated cheese. At least I tried to pick the healthy choices. Blown away by the generous portions here and I thought it was tastier than Chipotle! Extra bonus: guac and queso are no extra charge. We just wanted a snack around 3pm so we shared the birria mini bowl and the loaded street corn. Whoa! The two of us didn't even need to eat dinner after that. Have been coming here now for about 8 months. Having moved here from Texas, missed this kind of establishment. It's always clean. Staff for the most part are friendly. Now we usually go get a breakfast burrito between 10 and 1030am as you can add rice and beans to it. They do not put those out until 10am. Breakfast ends at 10:30am We've also had a lunch burrito. Equally yummy. I have had nothing but good experiences here. Took my dad from Texas here last year for breakfast and he loved it. They do offer 2 kinds of Tapito hot sauce for the table. (red, green) Went to lunch yesterday with the hubby and shared a huge breakfast burrito. Egg Chorizo Spicy queso Jalopeno Corn salsa Red hot salsa Guacamole Brown rice Shredded cheese Pinto beans and I'm sure I missed something. Neither of us could finish our entire 1/2 They will not cut it for you, but they do have plastic knives that work great. Can't beat it for $9.88 w/tax Look at this monster Lunch burritos are a little more in price, but still as massive. I see low review numbers, but we love this place and will frequent it. I came in today when it was pretty busy. 12/20/25 around 12:45 pm. The food was great, as always, but there is an older lady who was working the register that has been nothing but nice to the customers and is such a sweetheart. Another worker, working the front of the food line, was extremely impatient with her and was talking down to her and being very upset with her. She also was speaking in a very irritated tone with the customers as well. I just want to say that the older lady was extremely understanding and nice even dealing with that kind of disrespect. If there are problems with communication, talk about it in the back, not in front of the customers. read more

He heard about it on The Bonfire. I said sure. Didn't have high expectations due to not good quality reviews. Except that it's similar to Chipotle, which it is, you build your entree. Now I'm huge on cleanliness. I get food may get spilled on the sides of their container. But as slow as it was in there, it was very messy. Also, the food is exposed, not even glass or anything covering the food, like when you go to a buffet. Anything can fall into the food. The hubs ordered a burrito, chicken burrito. They did have all the options: white rice, Mexican rice, pinto beans, black beans, all the meats...etc. he got the chicken, queso, guac, pico, salsa... I ordered the burrito bowl. I built mine like a chipotle bowl. I did have ask for lettuce, I don't think lettuce is automatically included. I was a little concerned when she was getting my lettuce, even though she had her long hair braided, I came very close to getting in my bowl...close call. On a positive note the lettuce was covered:) Back to my order, I also had the chicken, Mexican rice, black beans, pico, shredded cheese, and guac. Now that I think about it, they didn't have sour cream. As far as price, We paid under $25 for both. Now the table selection, well at least you have a lot to pick from. This Qdoba Mexican Eats is located in South Carson City, Nevada, in the Carson Valley Plaza Shopping Center. It's close to the Walmart, Best Buy, Starbucks to name a few of the adjacent tenants. This quick service restaurant is very clean, the employees are always nice and courteous, and it's in a convenient location. If you are coming from North Carson City or South Lake Tahoe, it's just south of Highway 50. If you are coming from Minden or Gardnerville it's before you Highway 50. They serve the best burritos, recommend you get it with the sauce on top. They also serve tacos, chips and salsa. Great option! read more

We (two teenagers and I) came in thinking this would be great. It wasn't. Z complained instantly of sour guacamole in his burrito and said the white rice was so bland. He was hoping for Mexican rice but the only options were white and brown. J complained of salty chips which when looking at other reviews seems consistent here? Now if this were some bar where they were trying to get you to order more alcohol, although upsetting it would make sense but at a Qdoba?!? it is just sloppy kitchen work that the employees were not trained properly. JZ both gave 1.5 stars to their burrito and my pulled pork burrito was only slightly better at 2 star. why no flavor. Good thing I threw on the habanero salsa (that scores 3 stars). I was skeptical about this place when I showed up. I was greeted by Amber when I walked in. She had a big smile and said, "Welcome in!" She asked how I was doing, and I said, "I'm feeling new!" She gave me a quick 'How To' moment, and I was able to order. Sarah finished my order and was very accommodating because I had never been there before. Sarah added the rest of my toppings for my bowl, and I was surprised at the end result! The bowl was stacked high, and I had enough for later as well. I ordered a steak bowl with almost every topping option they offered. My husband ordered the three tacos, and he got a different meat in each. It was so good that we went back for three more birria tacos and a birria bowl! The service here is amazing! Walked in today to get some lunch with some co workers, we did not have masks on, was asked to put masks on right as our feet stepped in through the door. Kindly went back outside to get our masks and came back in. As I got closer to the front I noticed one employee wearing a purple mesh masks that had zero protection anyways so at that point she should just take it off and not wear one, and then a second employee had their mask all the way down and was coughing all over, she walked from the back room to the sink to fill her water bottle then to the register then over to the fountain drinks coughing her ass away with her mask down, but damn were they quick to tell people walking in to put masks on! I'd assume since they are dealing with food, they shouldn't be aloud to wear the mesh masks and should be wearing proper surgical masks since they are part of the mask patrol apparently, and second that they'd have their employees following regulations and not coughing everywhere especially where food is being made! read more

Order a steak burrito and a burrito bowl online to day for lunch. I had to drive all the way across town to get it because your website doesn't offer delivery. When I arrived back at work I sat down for lunch with my assistant. I took my burrito out of the wrapping and took a bite only to discover that there were pieces of foil inside the burrito. I looked over at my assistant and she had a funny look on her face. She had just opened her bowl and found a pointy pieces of plastic in it. I called the store and was told to bring them back and they would remake them. I can't do that because it is a forty-five min. round trip. That doesn't include waiting. I asked them to just refund my card they said I would still need to bring the items into the store. They deserve -10 stars. They customer service stinks. I have attached photos. Today it was an odd hour, hunger was setting in, and I was at the bank. It was the perfect day to give Qdoba a shot. Since I hadn't been in a while, it was nice to see how people were ordering, as it allowed me to prepare for my turn. There are questions? 1) Do I want to try the new 'smothered burrito'? 2) How much does a 'naked' burrito cost? 3) If I order the 'naked' burrito how much do the chips cost? 4) What exactly is 'Mexican Gumbo'? 5) Can I get the nicely cooked fajita vegetables in the bowl? 6) is this a 'high fat' location without choices? No worries though, the person that waited on me was very personable, and willing to help me, after a gentle razzing about my infrequency of visits. She heard my discussion with a friend, and decided to help me a bit. I ended up with a naked chicken burrito (in which I cut most of the fat, but was unable to resist cheese) with a side of the soup. She let me know that all I'd need to do is dump the soup into the bowl and stir. It's important to note that I did not follow directions. The soup tasted great, and when something tastes great I have a hard time mixing my flavors. So I ate everything separately. Here are my answers to the questions above: 1) No, I did not try the smothered burrito, although the pictures did tempt me. 2) The cost of the naked burrito is related to your choice of meat. I opted for chicken and so it was less, something like $7.50. Shredded beef and pork were about a dollar more. 3) They only charged me a dollar for my side of chips, and I thought that was odd, as the menu indicated they'd be two dollars. I didn't complain, seemed like it must have been a discount when you buy a meal. 4) The Mexican Gumbo is achieved when they pour the very tasty spicy chicken tortilla soup over your 'naked' bowl. 5) Yes, you can get the cooked fajita vegetables in the bowl of your choice, and I'd encourage you to do so, as they tasted great today. 6) No, not necessarily, but you can make everything high fat. If you're into low fat, you can do that also. Today lunch featured tasty food at an affordable price being served by quality, friendly people. What's not to like? read more

This was an all around awful dining experience for myself and my family. When I went to order the first burrito bowl I noticed the brown rice looked dry and crusty and was almost gone so let the lady with pigtail buns know it's looked like it was done. She glared at me and said it was what she had. I apologized and said I would just get one without rice. She set the bowl aside and started a new one. Everything looked like it had been out a while and the guacamole looked brown. When my husband ordered after me she grabbed the rice bowl I had passed on!! She was rude and short with both of us and we considered leaving without finishing our order, but WE aren't rude. The experience was so unpleasant we took our food to go instead. 5 minutes later at home the food was stone cold, confirming my suspicions that the food was less than fresh. We microwaved the meal. Eating here really made me sad. Years ago. I used to regularly go to qdoba's in Colorado and they had a very unique menu, well prepared food and were generally a quick and easy dinner when you were tired. They have changed the menu and they are now. Obviously trying to compete with Chipotle. Problem is they can't do it between supply issues. For example, they only had pinto beans today. Not black beans. Okay? Well you can live without those. The problem is they offer lime citrus lime shrimp but they haven't figured out how to keep those shrimp from turning into hard rubber on the steam table. So I did not enjoy my bowl at all. My husband's steak was okay except it was grossly oversalted and made me gag because of how salty it was. If they're going to try to complete with Chipotle they need to at least have good food which they do not read more

I'm giving 2 stars because A) my food was cold. This is the second time. I ordered tacos and the tortillas and chicken were cold. And B) they post that masks are required, but the woman in front of us pulled her mask all the way down while she ordered 4 dishes, each taking a long time. To improve, Qdoba needs to serve their food hot, or at least not cold. And if masks are required, that doesn't mean only when you walk through the door.
