Best place to get boba and thai tea in the area! Workers are always extremely friendly and treat customers like friends.

Fried rice was yellow rice with some onions, very sad rice with no flavor at all. Hardly traditional fried rice. Was given a 25 minute estimate. Got there at 20 minutes and waited almost 30 more for my order. The huge tub of brown gravy they give you is ridiculously large for the amount needed for the entree and scalding hot temperature. The container it comes in has a lid that is impossible to remove without spilling the full sauce all over. There are no sauce packets out for you to grab like most Chinese take out places have and when the bag was handed to me all sealed up I assumed (wrongly) that they had thrown some sauces in. My bad for assuming. They did throw fortune cookies in. Ugly: The General Tso chicken was inedible. The unrecognizable chunks of "chicken" were so stringy and tough and full of cartridge more than half of them could not be eaten and had to be spit out. The sauce also had no heat (menu shows a spicy symbol) and really no flavor like traditional General Chicken you would expect. Our total order exceeded the amount ($21 before tax) listed on the menu for 3 free crab rangoon which I asked for when I ordered. When I got there they charged me for the rangoon but I didn't notice that until I got home. This is our 3rd disappointing visit in a row. I realize it's the only Chinese in town and everyone in Bethalto loves it but it's really sad that it doesn't live up to the hype.

The first was while in a hotel when we first arrived in June to move into our "forever home" in Staunton (about 10 miles away). We went again a month or so after moving in. We went today (Sunday lunch) because we wanted to pick up a few things at Walmart. Understand where I (we) are coming from. My wife spent her childhood in Hawaii, and her father is Japanese. I am an Army veteran, and have been to plenty of Asian restaurants around the world. I do have a tough standard. I am sincerely not trying to punch down. I want this place to be good, it would be better for my retirement years for it to be good. It is the closest option for buffet. Our Staunton option is a menu only, and it is also not a good option, at all. I understand that a place needs to cater to its patrons to be profitable. I am not saying they don't try, I'm not saying they don't care. I do understand that americanized and (bland) is what they need to lean into. Our lunch today was $40 and we both left unsatisfied. I am willing to eat anything and have the girth to prove it. My wife is a bit more particular, but certainly has the ability to provide a decent value judgement on the things she chooses. There just are not consistently good choices to be had here. The "sushi" for example is marginal at best. There are more breaded/fried items than truly exist in Asian menus at other places I have been. The other items almost always have a sauce that is salt and sugar forward. There are very few spices/textures that I would expect from a Chinese menu. It is relatively clean, the people working here do try to do a good job. I appreciate the effort required to put all this together for us. It has the standard Chinese restaurant decorations (I think there is a kit that can be ordered from somewhere), but they haven't overdone it. I do understand and accept that people like this place, and appreciate the offerings. I am in no way looking down on their preference, [To each their Own] and please continue to enjoy it. If you are however, just passing through, it may not be the best stop for good Chinese food, okay "food" sure, but not on par with other options I have enjoyed.

A cozy place which is located on White Hall's bustling Main St. The storefront looked so inviting, with the fun decorations and a cute panda bear on the sign. Why wouldn't you want to check this place out? As my mother and I entered the first door, we found ourselves in a little foyer where we were given a little preview of the delicious scents that filled the entire place beyond the second door. As we walked though that second door, we found ourselves in the dining area. Our mouths watering, we made our way to the counter to order where we were greeted with a friendly smile. Our order was taken, we got our drinks, and sat down. We had our choice between table and chairs or booths and we, of course, chose the booths. Fantastic choice! The seats were so comfortable and we didn't feel like we were pushed right up against the table, like you might feel in booths if you are a bigger person. The dining area was smaller than most Chinese restaurants that I've eaten at, but the feel of the place; the cozy, family feel made me forget the size. Our food was delivered to our table very quickly and it was so delicious. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and was very aware of the large portion that I was given. (I definitely had some left overs.) everything tasted delicious! My fried rice was cooked to perfection, so much that I didn't feel like I had to drown it in sweet and sour sauce to enjoy it. And the chicken was crispy and flavorful. (I forgot to take my sauce with me for my left overs, but it really didn't matter... the chicken by itself was scrumptious!) My mom had gotten their orange chicken and pan noodles, this is something she gets every single time she eats here. She said that the chicken is always so yummy and she can't ever get enough of those noodles. After my mother and I filled up our now happy stomachs, we got a few kids for our containers, packed up, and headed for the door. We were then met with thank you's, goodbyes, and come agains. I loved my experience at this place and I can't wait to go back!

The fried rice was not the best and the veggies in the entree were different. Placed order tonight and everything was fine until they called me while my husband was driving home with the food. The phone rang again it's them and again asked if I picked up my order. I said my husband is driving home with the order now and I asked if there was a problem. She said check the order and let us know and click. I called them back and I'm upset because we live close to thirty minutes away. I ask what is going on? Do I need to call him and check the order? Surprise!!!! The people that take your order and talk to you on the phone are an answering service. That has terrible customer service. We ended up missing parts of our order and were told to come back and get the food they forgot. I asked if they could just refund me and the terrible telephone service they have didn't know how to do that. We will not be order it again. Shame the family that did own it was wonderful!!! It kind of makes it a hidden treasure and I'm glad that I found it. My visit was during a Saturday lunch and I was impressed. I started my meal with Fried Spring Rolls filled with vegetables and served Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. They were a thin crisp shell, that still gave a nice crunch when bitten into. The sauce was a accompaniment. For an entree I chose, Drunken Noodles and added Beef for my protein. I was torn between Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodle and when I asked my server, she said their most popular dish was Drunken Noodles. Then when I went to add my protein it was between chicken and beef. She said beef was her favorite add, so I went with her recommendation. Once my entree arrived to the table I was surprised by its size. It was huge. It was so big, it could have been a meal for two. Guess who had leftovers for lunch the next day. The noodles were flavorful and lots of tender beef and had plenty of veggies. My spice level was 3 out of 5 and I still was sweating along my hairline. Next visit I may have to scale back to a two. The service was attentive and the young lady who was my server, had a bubbly personality. I also had a young man who brought me my order, checked on me and I wasn't even his table. Now that I have found this hidden treasure, I will definitely be back. When: March 7, 2026 Why: Lunch
