I've only had one better Pulled Pork sandwich ever, damn...after this one I wanted a corner to be alone with this lovely thing! I felt fulfilled, to say the least. I have wanted to go here for years and despite being a bit of a rib / pork snob I have heard so many good things I really have it high on my list. This turned out to be a work lunch thing. I told them what I wanted, coughed up some money and all of a sudden this big Styrofoam container was on my desk! A good comment was when the person dropping it off said "damn, what did you get, it weighs a ton". I just ordered the large pulled pork sandwich, Memphis style (with slaw on it) with the vinegar based sauce and a side of these cheesy potato things. My only beef was the slaw was on the side but then again since it was being picked up I guess it would have gotten soggy. Truth is it was so damn good I didn't care about the slaw! Now from a guy that doesn't eat bread this was a hell of a good sacrifice! The roll was perfect for the sandwich. I poured the vinegar based sauce on and the roll was strong enough to soak it up without losing its strength. The meat was perfect, nice smoke flavor, perfect color, great meat flavor and soooo tender! The sauce was great, nice spice without overpowering the meat. Everything came together just right and this place could give 30 other places I've had pulled pork sandwiches a class on how to do it right! I will definitely have to venture up to visit myself. Some of the best BBQ in the area (maybe in MN depending on your experience). Tragically the first time I came here I got sick from the food and hung out on the bathroom floor for a while... So my boyfriend who loves BBQ had to suffer and was nervous to go (was it just me and my stomach that got sick, or was it the food?). So FINALLY, after over a year I felt adventurous enough to return to the delicious BBQ place that made me grow a strong relationship with my bathroom floor. It was more delicious than I remember!! I got the kid meal because I was worried, but still wanted some delicious BBQ. I ordered the chicken which was amazing! They took a brisket out right in front of us and so my boyfriend ordered that. (how do you say no to freshly smoked for a long time brisket!) We both LOVED the meat! It was high quality and fresh and juicy! Mac and Cheese was fine. You could tell it sat in the container for a while, but was still good. It would be more delicious if it was more fresh, but it went well with the BBQ. Overall, I'd return. SUCH. GOOD. BBQ. I'm such a huge fan of Q-fantatic, and I had seen someone post about it on Instagram and was so excited to try it. I was with a group of 4 so we tried a lot of food and shared it all. Honestly, I loved everything I ate. I will warn you -- you will probably get meat sweats after all the food -- but I promise it is well worth it. Definitely get one of the platters that you can share between 2+ people because then you get a variety of food which is great. The cornbread is amazing. The brisket is amazing. The ribs are amazing. I can't even remember everything we all had, but I promise you, you will like everything. I can't forget about the Mac n' Cheese which was also amazing. Slab bacon was great - not many places have this on the menu so that's one thing that puts this place above others Pulled ham had a great flavor Brisket - as I said before I'm not a big fan of smoked beef or brisket. This place knocked the other tc areas briskets out to the park though. Only other decent brisket that would be close is the place at keg and case in St. Paul Ribs are the best in the twin cities very tender unlike the other bbq joints around. And not burnt. Isn't it sad that my standard for bbq in the twin cities is that if it's not over cooked and burnt then it's at least decent. I grew up in Champlin and my parents live across the river in Anoka now, and I must have passed this place literally thousands of times. Today, I finally went in. They were out of brisket and hadn't even been opened for an hour. Poor planning there, so minus the star for that. Otherwise, I really liked everything we had. We got the sampler for 2 and it fed 3 of us with leftovers to boot! Great pulled meats...we had chicken, pork and ham. Sampler comes with 2 sides and we added a third one. This place has good beef brisket but is inconsistent as it depends which piece you get. We've gotten dry end pieces but keep returning because the next closest brisket place is a further drive. I am going to start with their top notch customer service. We are planning a wedding and we had been speaking to another local restaurant. Their "catering" manager would not return emails for days. Could not give any suggestions and appeared to not be interested in our business. We thought we would try Q fanatic and we were not disappointed. From the first email to confirmation they were constant communication. They would give us several ideas and suggestions, including ones that would save us money. We had never been to Q fanatic so we thought we better give it a try. Well, we fell in love with the food. My fiancé purchased several items for us to sample and we ate it all. The pulled pork is seasoned to perfection and extremely moist as well as the pulled chicken. The sliced brisket is cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy and extremely flavorful. The grilled bacon slab? Don't eat it! If you do you'll want to buy 100 lbs of it! One of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. Now I'm a condiment guy so that's important to me. All their sauces were delicious, even to the point of making sure the containers were completely cleaned before we threw it away. My 2 personal favorites are the expresso and the honey bbq. I would love to buy the honey bbq and have it home to put on everything. The grilled season vegetables with a side of roasted garlic and pesto aioli sauce were a hit! They were so good that when I purchased dinner for my family I bought extras for lunch. My son who is a picky eater cannot stop eating the rolls that come with the meals. Now if I had to pick an item that wasn't as mind blowing it would me the Mac and cheese. I'm late to the party with my review of Q-Fanatic. If it weren't so out of the way I'd be a regular. As it is, I've taken out from here a number of times over the years. Just never got around to a review 'till now. Oh well. Maybe better late than never. In short, this is real deal, locally owned BBQ. Very good ribs, brisket and pulled pork with outstanding sauces. I'll add that somehow the multiple choice sauces here don't seem as gimmicky as at the Rack Shack. Maybe that's unfair but they just do, at least to me. All of the sides are very good with a special nod toward the Cole Slaw, Parmesan Potatoes Gratinee, Baked Beans and the New Potato Salad. They also are generously sized. I keep hoping they'll open a location nearer to my home. But, maybe it's just as well they haven't. I already have a number of excellent, relatively nearby options and adding Q-Fanatic might expand my waistline by several inches which I can ill afford. Let it remain an occasional treat. read more

Finally stopped in here over the weekend and I really can't say enough about this place, the food is excellent. First thing as you're walking in the door you catch that smoky aroma, and your mouth literally starts to water. First the Ribs - I ordered the baby backs and they were the best I've had ever! Very tender and just loaded with flavor. Nice amount of char on the outside which makes them just friggin' killer! So good you honestly don't need BBQ sauce, but the sauces I tried were good too, so try em', I really liked the pepper vodka sauce! I'd recommend getting the ribs dry with the sauce on the side. The Brisket is also really good - best I've had in a long time (and possibly ever) they were very tender, and like the Ribs had excellent flavor. They have a great coleslaw as well as an Asian Cole Slaw with Thai dressing which sounds good but I have not tried yet. The Parmesan Potatoes are a must though! I can't wait to come back here again! Holy smokes, this place was good. My partner and I shared the 1# combo. We got 3 meats and 2 sides: pulled ham, pulled pork, and brisket with corn fritters and potato salad and 2 rolls. This was more than enough for 2 people for only $23. I LOVED the smoked ham and the brisket was my least favorite (a tad on the dry side but we were there an hour before close), but my partner was the opposite and loved the brisket and ham was his least favorite. However, it doesn't matter because it was all good. Potato salad was delicious and tasted homemade and the serving was gigantic. Corn fitters came as 8 and were pretty good with butter and honey. Even the dinner roll was delish. The only thing I didn't like was the vinegar BBQ sauce I ordered on the side, ew. They have 2 sauces on the table and a bunch more you can order. I also enjoyed the ambiance. When you pull up you see the big smoker outside, pumping out smoke. Inside had good music and a great condiment bar with syrup (not real maple sadly but that would be too expensive), honey, hot sauces, butter, etc, and of course, wet naps. I heard a lot of hype about Qfanatic, so I came here for lunch with my co workers. We ordered a big sampler plate. The ribs were great! It was tender, had a nice peppery and smoky flavor to it. Beef was tasty as well but not very tender, it wasn't smoked long enough. The rest were very disappointing. The bacon was basically smoked fatty pork belly, it didn't taste anything like bacon at all. Cole slaw was just shredded raw cabbage piled on top of a little bit of dressing in the bottom. It was never mixed. The texture was hard and had no taste to it. Then there was the buns, they were hard! Probably sat in the oven or steamed table too long. I enjoyed all of it tremendously especially the butterscotch in the Monster Cookie (which I traditionally make with M&Ms and Peanut Butter) At the end of our lunch my partner purchased a t-shirt to remember his experience and it took over 20 minutes once he had paid for it for the girl at the counter to stop taking lunch orders and run to the back to get his shirt. This place is just 2 miles down the road from so it and I have been going there ever since it first opened. The food has gotten much better over the years, mostly do the the investment on good smokers. The smoked flavor that I love really comes through. Despite my 5 star rating it isn't all good. The place has been a work in progress ever since the beginning 4 or 5 years ago. It can be very slow and is most of the time. If they could eliminate some of the bottlenecks in the kitchen they would make more money and provide a better customer experience. It seemed to be just squeaking by until it was on DD&D. The expansion into the space next door an the remodeling is making Q-Fanatic into a very inviting place to go, The days of dark and gloomy seem to be over. There seems to be a high turnover in staff. Except for the owners family you never know who is going to show up. I think one time he even had his brother serving food. He was probably on a visit from out of state on a busy weekend. All of the food is good but some of the best items, such as prime rib sandwiches show up on the specials menu board. You just never know what to expect with the specials. If they run out of an item you may not know it until after you been waiting for a while and if it is something you are really craving don't expect to go back and have it the next day. It may be a while before it shows up again, if ever. I'd go there more often but my wife does not any of the sauces that they are so proud of. If you are up to expecting the unexpected, don't mind waiting for it and are looking for something a lot better than Dickie's and very different than Famous Dave's this is your place. If you want fast and consistent stick with Dickie's and Famous Dave's. Update 3/31/2017: I just brought home two catfish dinners that were the worse food I have ever brought home from Q Fanatic. It was overcooked, over battered and oversalted. Because the catfish is seasonal item they have only before Easter it has been a long time since I have tried it. I happened to be up in Anoka of a golf outing on a Sunday during the Vikings game, so when we entered Q Fanatic after 9 holes, there was actually no wait to order. Wow, last time I tried to get in, it was about an hour wait. They have a huge menu on the wall with sandwiches, meats, platters, salads and sides you can get. i had heard that the pulled pork was amazing (It is!), so I got the sandwich with a substitute of BBQ baked beans instead of chips. I got my soda and we sat down and had some laughs and conversation while we waited about 15 minutes for our food. I have been waiting years to go here after seeing them on DDD, so when it was recommended as a lunch spot, I was all over it. The pulled pork was sooooo juicy. This is by far the best sandwich I have ever had, hands down! It was like melted pork just causing a party in your taste buds. I added some of the Espresso medium sauce, but seriously, the pork didn't need it. It was perfect as-is. The roll was not too crispy and was a perfect pairing with the meat. The slaw was a vinegar based one, which I like, rather than a greasy mayo based one. It also allows you to make your sandwich Memphis style if you desire. The perfect sandwich. The baked beans had these hunks of meat in there that are really surprising. Just huge hunks of protein. Not even super greasy bacon or anything, just lots of solid meat. They were fantastic. I tried one of my friend's ribs, and they were also 5 star quality. Big bark on the outside and just fell off the bone. My solid second favorite, but that is because the pork was the best ever. I also tried a little brisket, I thought it was a touch dry, but would have been great with sauce on a roll probably. I also tried half a corn fritter. I admit I was fairly surprised when I saw a Minnesota BBQ joint on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." This isnt a part of the country that is well-known for its BBQ even if Famous Dave's originated in Wisconsin. I love good BBQ though, so I had to make the drive out to Champlin to see what it was all about. Luckily, there was a coupon in the Entertainment coupon book which was a good start to the trip. It is a hike, however. If you live in the cities, it's a pretty decent trek all the way out to Champlin and if you blink you might miss it. It's tucked in the corner of a small strip mall in between two fairly sharp turns. I must have driven past it a dozen times without even knowning it was there. The BBQ though is worth the trip. While it isnt the best BBQ Ive ever had, it certainly is the best in Minnesota. Dont go expecting to get something from a generations old shanty in Texas or Kansas City, but expect quality food. The portions arent as big as what youd get at a chain place like Dickey's, but they make up for it in taste. You also select your sauce when you order and can add that as needed. Q-Fanatic? More like Q-Fantastic! This place rocks. It doesn't look like much from the outside - so much so that it was actually featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives - but don't be deceived. This hidden gem plays host to possibly the best barbeque in Minnesota. I live in Roseville and I consider the 30+ minute drive out to Champlin a worthy meter to judge the quality of the food. The portions are large, the meat is tender and succulent, and the banter lively... they know how to do it right. If you go with a group I recommend ordering from the Q-Values menu, it's a bigger bang for your buck. May it be ribs, brisket, chicken, or pork, you won't find a meat you don't like. The secret is in the smoking - it's awesome, you can taste it in each bite. It's even got that bark - you know the barbeque is done right when the meat is encased in a shell of flavor, just waiting for you to mow into oblivion. If sauce is your game, than get ready to play ball. This place does not shy away from variety. Tangy, to sweet, to hot, to unique (by the way, this should be a jingle, just saying)... they've got it all. My favorite is the Espresso BBQ, delicious. The sides are nothing to scoff at either. Having seen the segment on Dinners, Drive-Ins and Dives, my interest had been piqued for quite some time about Q-Fanatic. Though I travel to the Twin Cities quite often, this place is a good 50-mile round-trip outside the city limits. It's still very much nestled in suburbia, but it's out there. I simply hadn't found enough time to hit this place up. And boy was I missing out. I finally swung by in November of 2015 and ordered the 1/2 rack of back ribs and Cajun fries. There had been some legitimate hype surrounding this place, so I was eager to sink my teeth in. When the food finally came, I instantly knew it was going to be delicious. The rib meat was seasoned, but not to a bark. When I finally tasted it, the flavor a rushed my senses. It was tender, yet meaty with a hint of smoke; just the perfect amount. The two kinds of BBQ sauce complimented the ribs perfectly. I've been to world-renowned BBQ joints all over the country. I've had the best that central Texas, Kansas City and St. Louis have to offer, and Q-Fanatic's ribs rival anywhere I've been. They reminded my of a famous place in St. Louis called Pappy's -- and that's saying a lot considering people wait for hours to get a chance to eat there. The wait for Q-Fanatic was extremely short, but I also came on a Sunday evening (it's closed Monday and Tuesday). I suggest you don't make the same mistake I did and put off going here. Great food with a fast wait for food. We got the deluxe 2lb sampler with pulled pork, beef brisket, Mac and cheese, beans with burnt ends, and potato wedges. They let us have any number of chosen sauces for no additional fee and we chose the honey bbq (mild but not as sweet as expected), the pepper hot bbq (hot but tasted very nice. Husband likes spice and loved it) as well as a teriyaki (my personal favorite). The pulled pork was incredible, the ribs fell off the bone, the brisket was tender and delicious. The sides had a clear winner for us in the mac and cheese. The beans were a close second for my husband and I adored the potatoes. This restaurant gives you quality BBQ & Smoked meats and one of the best places I've ever eaten for BBQ. The rids are full of meat and fall off the bone, think as well. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. I ordered the smoked Turkey last year as well for thanksgiving, outstanding. read more
