Long story, we have two rescue dogs. They went to the same groomer for years until the oldest one came home with some wounds that even our vet couldn't explain. Searched for a different groomer, it went well the first few times, expensive but good job till the youngest one had a bloody eye. I had repeatedly told them that he doesn't like anyone to trim his nails, how he needed to be restrained but somehow he got hit on the eye! To the vet again, eye drops. Not fun! Decided then to use the grooming section at our vet's. It was great until the groomer quit! I then asked myself why didn't we bring our pups to Pyrénées Pets? It's close to home, I got an appointment within a few weeks. And we are so pleased! Our oldest one was matted since her grooming was overdue, they did an amazing job in 2 hours! I love Pyrenees Pets. I buy all my dog food there and the owners are always very helpful and friendly. It is the type of place I could hang out all day and talk to Tina and Karen about my dog and just about anything. They answer all my dumb questions and always make me feel welcome. They have very cute toys and my dog loves the snacks I buy for her and bring home. I feel fortunate to have a specialty dog store near my home. I probably stop there once a week to buy toys, snacks and food for my precious German Shepherd. read more

I'm greeted each time by the friendly local owners. I take my three dogs there to get groomed. ( 2 little Yorkies and a Golden Doodle). Each time I love how they return,-fresh & clean and with a new bow or ribbon! Personal attention means a lot to me. I'm big on supporting small local business'. They have great merchandise not found in your run of the mill larger pet stores. And they have wonderful advice and referrals for finding local trainers, doggie day care, and private boarding. I concur about the level of friendliness, they might want to consider this as constructive feedback. This is a retail shop offering grooming and clearly from the reviews they get 4-5 stars in that area. I have lived in Danville along time and have owned Dogs all my life. We recently adopted a tiny mixed pup from a kill shelter and when my little friend and i walked into the store we were given the once over and received a stink eye with no greeting, a look down the nose at my sweet little mutt! I asked about carriers and what they had for my new friend. Blank look no response, then the owner asked what airline I was flying, and handed me a carrier stating this one was the only one approved, in my opinion it had unacceptable ventilation so I asked to see others and she objected restating the approved was what I needed, then walked away and went to greet a great pyr for grooming. No big deal I went to Molly's downtown and bought a nice carrier and a few other wonderful necessities! I don't see any reason to return to this shop. read more

The people who run this place are so incredibly rude i will never return. I brought my dog in to get his haircut and after I told them specifically what I wanted, they made me feel awkward for not choosing the classic cut for my breed of dog. I ave them the benefit of the doubt and went back once more and received poor service once again. For the $70 they charge for a dogs haircut, I would think they would make an attempt to make the customer feel a little more welcome. read more

after taking our maltipoo to petsmart for a grooming several months ago and having them return us a monkey, we are extremely untrusting of groomers and who we let cut our dog's hair. but since our baby was starting to look like a homeless bum again, we decided to test our luck and brought him here. we made sure to tell the groomer what we DID NOT want, and she assured us she would not make him look too much like a poodle in the face. after 3 hours, we returned to pick him up...and WOW! he was PERFECT! they really did an awesome job with his cut and followed our requests to a T. on top of that, the grooming only cost us $55 and it came with a cut, nail clipping, and a bath! very reasonable, considering we paid $45 to petsmart for them to just shave off his hair and sculp his face to look like a monkey. read more

Decided to post after reading the other reviews, and after picking up my princess who was NOT hapy there and had to be dragged into the spa. They definitely aren't friendly here... They dont even say hello and dont help at all with the products. If you ask for different sizes youll get a rude, "whats out is what we have". On the positive side, they don't run a grooming mill, which is a plus. However, my dog HATES coming here which makes me wonder what is happening in the back. Not going back. For $50 my pooch should dig it. Also they claim to express anal glands but clearly aren't doing it since she comes home and scootches on the carpet five minutes later! read more

Just picked up my 7 year old lab after a getting a thorough teeth scaling and his teeth are incredible! A great job and it was a fraction of a vet bill because they do it without any type of anesthesia. The people were all polite and I didn't encounter any of the rudeness expressed by others on the phone or in person. read more

My girl CC is a 4 year Old English Sheepdog. Talk about hair, she's got tons of it! Up until now, every groomer has shaved her down when she gets matted. I expected the same and when I picked her up, she was beautiful. The matts were gone, she looked absolutely beautiful, in all her sheep dog glory. She pranced outside as if she was going to a dog show. So happy with the results and that I found a groomer who took the time and understanding to do the uncommon with her and her breed! I would recommend this groomer to anyone but especially those dog owners whose dog has lots of hair. Great results, quick appointments and a very clean environment. The first time I took my Bolognese in for grooming, I was amazed at what he looked like when I picked him up. For the first time, he wasn't shaved down the way another groomer used to give him a "puppy cut" or made to look like a bichon or a poodle. When I picked him up, I was asked if I knew what my dog is supposed to look like. A little shocked at that, but yes I do know that my dogs hair really should grow long. I was recommended not to shave him down as the texture of his hair would change. I completely agree, I prefer that my dog not have a puppy cut. I really appreciated the feedback and recommendation. My dog went back a second time. This appointment was for a bath and facial. Yes, a facial. I thought I'd give it a try. Again, he came out looking fluffy and a beautiful. Even though it is a bit of a drive from my home, I will continue to bring my dog here for grooming and bathing. They do a beautiful job with him and he comes happy. read more

I bring my dog here for nail clippings. They are fast and friendly and my dog who hates any sort of grooming doesn't get stressed or upset when she goes here. They are very friendly and always seem to be able to fit me in without an appointment. I can't say enough how nice it is to have a grooming place nearby that actually has appointments available. I took my dog Charlie there as a first-time customer and they did an excellent job. The prices are reasonable, and best of all it didn't take them several hours to get him in and out like most grooming places. The staff were respectful and seemed nice. Also, they accommodated me when I wanted his hair a little shorter after seeing him finished. They took him back and trimmed him a bit, quickly. He looks amazing. Well done! First of all the owners, Tina and Karen, are fantastic! They know everyone personally (people and pets) and always have free treats for your pet. They love what they do and have great quality products. They are very accommodating and are always open to bringing in items that are recommended or requested. I have been asking the owners at Pyrenees to open a grooming salon for a while now. I am so happy they have finally done so. While one of the owners, Tina, is extremely hands on helping with bathing and grooming, the groomer they hired is very experienced and knowledgeable. They always take the time to meet with you and find out if you want anything specific done with the cut and genuinely care about your "baby". The other thing that is great and different from other groomers is that they don't keep your dog caged all day. You bring them in at your appointment time and usually 3 hours later they call you to pick them up. When you pick up your pup they are not traumatized and they look perfect! Our visits to Pyrenees are always fun and a positive experience! read more

Bad business sense. With large pet stores in close proximity who cater to their customers, Pyrenees Pets chooses to have a no return policy, just store credit. I find this is the act of a desperate business who can care less about their customers and whether or not someone ever returns. When running a small neighborhood boutique type store you must do whatever possible to keep your customers coming back. i will NEVER shop here EVER. When someone brings something back WITH THE RECEIPT within 2 days of the purchase. You ALWAYS REFUND THE CUSTOMER. Do yourself a favor and make your purchases from a store who knows what customer service is all about. read more

These guys have been so great for grooming and also for being able to pick up good priced dog food. We take both our little dogs for baths and toenail clipping here, and the ladies who work the front counter (I think they may be the owners) have always been very helpful. I can't believe I am seeing positive reviews on here. I went in ONCE and will never go back. The owner was so rude it was unbelievable...what a shame considering that it is a small business that is dependent upon its locals. I left the store...furious at the way I was spoken to and went down the street to sit down for breakfast. I love Pyrenees Pets. They are the best pet store in the entire Bay Area as far as I am concerned. Bar NONE. I used to have to make special trips to 2-3 different pet stores just to get everything I needed. No more. Tina & Karen will special order almost anything you want and -if they can get it -they'll work hard to make you happy. (BTW, one of my special orders included a brand of kitty litter that had only been available at one of those Pet Super Saver Stores. (A 50 minute drive from my house). Not only were they able to order it for me- FAST- & save me the long drive- but the price was the exact SAME as the Pet Super Saver Store!!!! Pyrenees Pets does NOT price their items like a typical boutique pet store. Yes, they DO have the better quality products- and there will be a difference between the mass produced grocery store dog food prices and the prices for the high quality dog food that smarter pet owners demand - but I know FOR A FACT that one of their mainstream popular dog food's is priced almost $5 cheaper per bag than the OTHER neighborhood pet stores' (a chain store) price across the street! So aside from the fact these gals are incredibly knowledgeable and a great source for advice- AND sell excellent nutrition for my dog and cat- the DOG GROOMING is just another reason why they're the best. They are compassionate towards the dogs, and they are far more thorough than other groomers I have been to. My dog looks and smells clean and- for some reason -seems to stay that way longer since I've been coming to Pyrenees. (And my dog used to cry and whine whenever she went to the groomer's, now she is as happy as a lark when I drop her off!) In closing, I just wanna say I hope that everyone in Danville / Blackhawk that is a responsible animal lover and wants the best for their beloved furry family members- understands the gold mine we have by having Pyrenees Pets in our backyard.
