This was the most expensive and underwhelming bar we visited in Ireland. My friend and I each ordered a beverage and it cost over $20 and there was a cover charge fee too that they didn't tell us about, it was just noted on the bill. The environment was ok, but the drinks were way overpriced and not worth it.

Pyg has new chairs! And they're soooo comfy

Pros: - Cheap drinks on a Sunday - One of the best outdoor sitting people watching spots in town on Coppinger Row - Nice tapas during the day - Cosy little nooks inside - Outdoor heaters & blankets outside Cons: - Possible grossness awaiting in said blankets from previous punters - Generally not great music - Toilet situation - on a busy night, or a Sunday, you could be waiting half an hour outside the ladies. Not good. Not good at all. Try it sure, you might like it. What ya got to lose?

Arrived here on Friday with friends. First time to visit this bar! We had a couple of cocktails 2 for 1 @ €13 (offer runs Tuesday-Friday). Lots of spirit based drinks including gin, whiskey and vodka mixes. Yet unlike other cocktail bars (notably the capitol bar) you actually taste alcohol in the glass. So for an additional euro you actually get a drink. Good music & atmosphere. If you arrive early you get a stamp from the bouncer avoiding the entrance fee (€5 I think). Sundays are a good shout with 40% off drinks. PYG also serves food (tapas style) but this I can't offer a review on. If you manage to get a seat outside (with heaters) it's great for people watching! I will be back!

2 for 1 on cocktails tues - sun. Very strong mojitos!

I LOVE PYG! The 2 for 1 cocktails from Tuesday - Sunday is a great incentive to get myself and my friends in here, as students, we love a good deal! This place is almost too cool, with the chilled out vibe on their alleyway outdoor seating area to the dimly lit seating areas hidden away in several different nooks and crannies inside. I absolutely love it. During the day, you can come here for a drink, with great music playing all day long you don't even notice the time going by with how comfortable and relaxed the atmosphere is! You could easily come in here for drinks after work/college or on a day off and end up spending the evening here by accident because it's so homely. The staff are great, the food is AMAZING!! And they serve til late too! Try the vegetarian paella - divine!! The bathroom are also gorgeous, which is always so important I think. They're always clean and have a very fancy ambiance. They also host club nights here on weeknights which are absolutely fantastic, definitely worth checking out. They tend to have some pretty great DJs in, keep an eye on their Facebook for those.

The layout of this place is the best selling point of this place. The labyrinth like division on the rooms is cool and especially confusing when you have a tad too many beevies but that just adds to the atmosphere. It is a different and exciting extra to dance in the powerscourt shopping centre floor at night to booming tracks. Admittedly I only danced here the once but the tunes were whack. Too much boom and utter sickening pretension, I can't stand people dancing to peoples opinions rather than to how they feel. Lets see, decent drinks selection. Dublin prices. They do coffee drinks and have a nice outdoor seating area. Service is good. The womens' loos are crap though. Clean, yes. Layout is like the music, tries way to fecking hard. You sit on the pot, do your thing, that's fine. Then you go to wash your hands, and there is this large fountain type thing. Basically punters wash their hands at the various taps that sprout from it. The sleek machine loosing it's mystic with the cheap hand-wash bottle stuck messily on top. It took me ages to figure out how to turn on the water... Basically you stand on a pedal... I was curious as to how people in wheelchairs would wash their hands.... I dunno kinda sums up the joint for me, tries way too hard to be cool and ends up spreading germs.

I had a deadly night here. Pitchers €10, lots of pounding pounding techno music and a proper labyrinth. What's not to like? I agree with Annie, there are quite a few pretentious fuckers who can't dance, and I think it's hilarious. If you look at them the right way they get very self-conscious and start posing without even acknowledging the whole concept of 'rhythm'. Comedy gold. Unfortunately, the price a club owner must pay for carpeting their walls is dealing with a room full of pretentious fuckers. Did I mention the carpet wall? It's got a carpet on it. Pretty much all there is to say on the issue. The dancefloor itself isn't great, it feels a bit like a school disco. I'd say the best bet is to keep it local and dance next to the anchor where your drinks are. There's lots of standing/boogieing space which is way better than a disappointing centralized dancefloor.

Combo platter for €25

2.5 star review. I was excited to eat here. It was always so busy and I wanted to like this place. Self-seating, rushed service, pretty mediocre food. I don't understand the high ratings. We ordered the combo platter for two, which for €25 seemed like an excellent value for everything that was on it, but nothing on it worked. Everything was under-seasoned, and the battered cod and calamari were soggy. After seating ourselves, we couldn't find any serving staff to flag down. Our orders were finally taken from a very rushed server, who came back with a number and asked us to pay immediately. Unorthodox, but we obliged. 5 minutes after that, before our wine had even made it to the table, another staff member dropped off a card at our table without a word. It read: Hey Pyglets, your table may be moved at anytime to facilitate some disco dancing. It was 8pm! The entire experience turned me off. It felt like they just wanted us to get us to get out from the moment we walked in. I may go back for a drink, but never again for a meal.

I have always passed through this place thinking its cool and would love to have a beer here.! It seems to be used for so many opening events and random things! I even used it for my business NuSense Treasure Crawl, it was a type of pub crawl... Teams fo 4 went here had a few drinks here and did some dares and tasks to gain a riddle for the next bar! The bar gave us a great deals on drinks, but more importantly everybody who attended the event, completely loved the venue and I have been asked to go for drinks numerous time since the event as my friends loved the venue so much. During the week, im not sure about weekend, they havea bbq outside... most thinsg are €5 i had a lamb burger... do it... go on.. get one!!! YUM its delish. They have bitbuzz wifi access limited to 20mins but its free if you have an account with bitbuzz, it took me the 20mins to set it up but i always walk by here anyway so its handy to chatch up on emails... Great drink deals generally, but also great venue, love the decor and the staff are all very friendly

Good things: well situated, perfect location to have a pint and go to a restaurant or to a club after. Good to be outside in a sunny day and offers in drinks Sundays afternoon. Not so good things: I have the feeling that this pub doesn't find a proper personality, it tries to be a restaurant, a trendy pub and a club altogether, if you want to enjoy the dinner, the music is too loud, if you want to dance there is no space, etc. At the end is no one of this three ways is good enough. The service is not what I expect in a pub, kind of slow, inefficient and unpolite (they look very well, all of them, but... the look is not all, i had also once a bad experience with an arrogant guy at the bar. Maybe it was a bad day, but for sure it wasn't my fault at all, that this guy had a bad day). The food has room for improvement, but is not bad at all. And it is not cheap. Conclusion: I the friends want to meet there, I will go, but if I have to decide maybe not.

Quesadilla, skinny fries, and beef sliders

Grabbed a quick lunch at Pygmalion and was lucky enough to be able to sit outside and enjoy the warm summer weather. The lunch menu is filled with tempting options, choices to suit both vegetarians and omnivores. I settled on the pepper and onion quesadilla, my lunch date for the beef sliders and we shared skinny fries. The quesadilla was stuffed with beans and slightly spicy veg and topped with a generous dollop of guac, salsa and sour cream. The fries were amazing; hot, crispy and accompanied by mayo and ketchup Unfortunately my lunch date was not impressed by their sliders which were very spicy despite no mention of any spicy elements on the menu description. The prices were a bit high but to be expected in Dublin city centre: 30 euro for the whole meal! Overall would definitely recommend Pyg for anyone looking for a filling lunch in city centre Dublin!

They also topped up our bread for free with the humus/dips starter. Dada also have a wide range of vegetarian options too. We also celebrated a friends Birthday, and they gave a free desert and sang Happy Birthday to her, which was a great little touch. Then at the end of our meal, they offered us complimentary peppermint tea and allowed for us to relax and enjoy our tea. Another bonus, which I only realised when I read the menu, but it's "BYOW(wine)" however, you need to buy at least 2 courses to avail of this. Great addition if you were having a gathering and wanted to enjoy a couple bottles of wine at a lower price.

We did the "early bird" and the price ended up being higher than the normal cost of those items on the menu! The flavor was so bland and the dips were weird colors and tasted very off except for the tdaziki dip. The Mediterranean bowl could have been good if it were served warm with warm roasted vegetables, but it was ice cold. The cous cous royale was okay but could have been better with more seasonings and flavor. The pastine was dry and bland and disappointing. The only tasty thing we ordered was the ginger lemonade which was out of this world. Also the portions were large and presentation was nice and the restaurant itself has great decor, which is why it gets 2 stars. Someone would have to pay me to eat here again lol

They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

It feels a bit weird writing a public review of a secret spot...but I can't gatekeep this spot!…read more The Blind Pig Speakeasy was one of our favorite spots while in Ireland, and it ranks high on our list for several reasons! They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with! Oh, I do highly recommend reservations! They are a small and very in demand spot, so trying to walk-in is a bit risky. Overall, we absolutely loved our evening at The Blind Pig! This is going to be controversial, but I swear, this is what I saw for real. Not kidding, not exaggerating. For real. We are sitting to the side of the main bar. A bartender is pouring bottled water into a bottle of Jameson. Another employee came over and is talking to her while she is doing this. She 'squishes' the empty bottle, making that crushed plastic sound, before throwing it into the trash. Then she puts the pour spout back on top of the Jameson bottle and walks back into the main bar area. O.M.G. Really? Why me?! It is at this point I think to look at the Yelp reviews. Whoa. First thing I see is to the effect of 'my white friends got in, but not me'. Second thing I see is 'Asians not allowed'. Holy mackerel! My SO and I take a serious look around and O.M.G., no kidding, not one non-WASP in the joint! I feel dirty and disgusted. I have no idea that anyone in here has a clue of this fact, but now that it has been pointed out, it is so very clear. We left just as fast as we could. I will never return.

Somehow low-lit, archaic, well-lit, & modern, all at the same time. Lively but not noisy pop music was playing - Dua Lipa, etc. The actual physical menu was so cool. The bartender scorched a hot pepper & carefully placed it on top, which MADE the drink. He also made my partner a Paper Plane with Scotch. Delicious. Speaking of the bartender, he was a real champion. Such a nice guy with a bit of flair to his style of bartending. We really enjoyed chit chatting with him.
