I'm an Emerald Club member, so by the time I got there, my paperwork was already printed. No hard sell on insurance, either! The guy did try to sell an upgrade to a Nissan Murano to me but I declined...didn't really need anything that large (or wanted to fill something like that up with gas!) As an Emerald Club member though, I did get my one-class upgrade from Intermediate to Standard...a fully loaded 2012 Ford Fusion SEL...not bad! Definitely my go-to place for local rentals.

    Terrible customer service…read more My wife is an Executive Elite member. She literally rents a car every week of the year for work. Today she received terrible service at this location. She reserved an intermediate vehicle. With her membership status she would usually get an upgrade to a full size, SUV or luxury vehicle. We got a Nissan Sentra. The vehicle is not in optimal condition: dirty seats, dirty dashboard, 35k miles, noisy suspension... etc. my wife prepaid gas in full and we got the car with a half full gas tank. The lot was full with other vehicles, on a Wednesday afternoon. When my wife asked the manager if we could get any other of the cars at the location, the manager replied that was not possible because there was "no car sufficiency". However he did say that if we paid $30 per day we could get a small SUV (so there was availability, he just wouldn't upgrade us despite my wife's status). We will never rent from this location again, and would recommend other renters to go to any of the other car rental locations in Stamford.

They could careless about customer satisfaction and whether you have to be at a destination. I don't recommend this place. If you use it speak to 3 different ppl weeks ahead so you can get the same policy. I would never recommend to anyone. Worst rental place and very poor customer service !

    I entered this Hertz location to rent a car. I was directed there by the Avis Car Rental location…read moreadjacent to Hertz. I was told that Hertz would be able to take my debit card to rent a car, where Avis requires a credit card, which I didn't have with me. The reason I needed to rent a car was that I was in Stamford for a business meeting on Saturday, and had arrived via Amtrak, on Friday. As you may know, because of an accident on Amtrak in Bridgeport, CT, the Amtrak lines from Boston to New York City were closed indefinitely. I decided to rent a car and drive home to Washington, DC after my meeting on Saturday evening When I arrived at the Hertz office, the clerk was assisting another customer. She offered him several choices in types of cars to rent. When it was my turn, I asked if I could rent a car. She told me that there were no cars to rent. When I asked why she offered the other customer choices if there were no extra cars, she replied, "Cars are for customers only." I questioned why I wasn't considered a customer like him, and she kept repeating, "Cars are for our customers only," and "We have no cars to rent. I asked to see a manager, and she said there was none available. I asked for her name, and she said, "I don't have to give you my name," and proceeded to cover her name tag with her hair so I couldn't see it. I went on my iphone and made a reservation for a car from that Hertz location, and received a confirmation number. I showed it to the clerk, and she told me that there WAS a car available. So it was obvious that she had lied to me before. I persisted and she finally gave me her name. It was "Omaira." I was directed to a sub-compact car, and hurried to my meeting. I did not realize it at the time since it was daylight that the console light did not illuminate. For the entire 5 hour drive to Washington, DC, alone including rainstorms, I was unable to see my speed limit and my fuel gage. It was a terrifying experience. I have never had this type of customer service experience in my life, and am surprised that Hertz would provide such terrible service in a crisis situation brought about by a tragic train accident.

    I rented a vehicle from this location today and was met with unprofessional and impolite behavior,…read morefrom Lercy, that I must share with you in an effort to improve customer relations here. I made an 11:00am reservation to pick up a vehicle today; however, I was not able to arrive until about 1:30pm. I called multiple times, to inform them of this, but never received an answer. After waiting in line, I checked in with the representative, Lercy, who informed me, "You're late for your reservation." That comment was not necessary and took me by surprise; however, I took my seat as she said. After waiting for about 20 minutes, she signals for the lady next to me to come up to the counter and this lady wasn't sure so she asked if she meant her or me? I looked over to Lercy and asked if she meant me? She rudely waved her hand to dismiss me and pointed to the lady next to me and said, "No, not her you!" I said out loud "I thought you were calling me because I had a reservation at 11:00am." The lady was going to let me go ahead of her, but I told her no that it was okay, I would wait. Lercy then repeats (across the room) that because I was late for my reservation, they don't hold the car and the car had been sent back. Really? All of that across the room? How rude and unprofessional! So I replied and let her know "I wouldn't know that because I don't work here but now I know." Another man listening in, asked if she said there were no more cars? I told him no she didn't say that, she told me that "I would have to wait because I was late." Lercy then has the nerve to keep talking to me, from way across the counter, and tells me, "Trust me, I know what I'm doing! That's how it works here" I told her that I was not talking to her and that wasn't necessary! Very impolite and unprofessional. When I was finally called to the counter, she helped with my reservation, and I immediately told her that I didn't appreciate how she spoke to me earlier and that it was impolite. She said, "Okay!" and asked for my drivers license....wow! She couldn't care less! It would just be my guess that this sort of behavior is not part of Avis' customer service training. I don't usually rent from Avis, because of the long waits at this location. I usually rent with Enterprise. I came here today because they were open later. But after this treatment, I don't plan to return. This behavior is not acceptable and, in my opinion, needs immediate attention. Thank you!
