Well i had to start bringing our cars back here because service at other auto shops and prices were definitely NOT better. I have always felt like the service from the workers here was top notch. Took one of my cars in 3 times only twice for repairs. First time was battery light was turning on and off. They did a diagnosis and told me it was the alternator. Cost to replace/repair was around $400.00. However battery light still turns on and did not have any change. About 2 weeks later the car was not driving over 20-30mph and would feel like it was about to stall when stopped at a light. Took it in they told me it was the TDC sensor they provided a code the engine light was showing. I also mentioned that the battery light was still turning on after the previous repairs. I was told they would look into it and let me know what they fine. Car was left to be repaired. Received a call to let me know my spark plugs looked really bad and they recommended i replace them. I ask them how did the ignition coils looked, which they advices they were working correctly and did not need to be replaced. I agreed to getting the spark plugs replaced. Then they called back to ask when was the last time the car had over heated. I let them know it had never overheated in the time we have owned the car. He informed me that they had found a small amount of coolant in the engine. They recommended I keep and eye on as this may become an issues later with a possible rebuilt of the engine. I felt they were really looking out for me and were being genuine with all the recommendations. Car was fixed I picked it up the cost for the repairs were $420.00. They also let me know they did not fine any issue with the alternator and they could not get the battery light to turn on. Exactly a week later the car started to have the same issues with the car not wanting to drive passed 30 and felt very forced with no power. I drove the car right to the shop. I left the car there as they said they would diagnose the car to see what was causing the issues. About 2 hours later they call me to inform me that the car will need the entire upper engine needed to rebuilt and that was the issue I was having. They told me that I was warned the week before about this issue and they would need to do the work to get it back on the road. I ask them what was the exact issue and they told me they would need to open the engine up and start to figure out what exactly the issue is. They made it out to be like I had done something wrong and I was not being honest with them about the way the car was being treated. I ask for the engine codes but could not get it out of them. They just let me know the job would be $1200.00 and it would take 4 days to do but they would try to get it done as quickly as possible to help me out. Something didn't feel right about what they were telling me. So I picked up the car and took it to another mechanic that did a full diagnosis of the engine compression along with other possible issues. The new mechanic informed me that the only issue he found was the ignition coils. 2 were not working and recommended replacing them. He replaced all 4 coils and the car is running normal again. The moral of the story is I am never taking any of my cars to this shop again. I don't feel they were honest with me and they broke the trust. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I called for an estimate to install a differential. My regular shop had taken it out and the used one I got to replace it was the wrong one. They put the suspension back together and parked it on their lot until the part came. The new diff showed up but my regular mechanic got too busy and said it would take him a week to do it. There price was $350 for the whole diff replacement removing it and installing new one. They also quoted me $100 to change a strut mount. So I called Perfect Auto to get a quote and they called me back with a quote of $1000! Are they insane??? That is more that double what my mechanic wanted. Its a 2 hour job with the diff already being removed. What do they charge $500 an hour??? That was only labor. I have the parts. Now I know why they are never busy when I go by there. read more

Great honest service. I drive a 2002 Honda Accord Coupe and had a problem with my transmission locking up when starting my car. Basically, when I started my car, my gear shift would lock up and I wouldn't be able to take it out of Park without jiggling or messing with it for a good five minutes. I brought in my car and explained my predicament to the owner. He explained to me the possibilities of what the problem could be and proceeded to diagnose the problem. Within half an hour of my being there, they fixed the problem and had me on my way. I was skeptical before coming here, given their history of bad reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by their service. It was fast and efficient, and their staff was very hard working. So I've been coming to this shop for a few years now. It's become the go-to for smog testing both mine and my wife's car. It all started with a Pennysaver ad that saved me some bucks on a last minute need to get my vehicle registration done. I've great had great luck timing my visits right and getting the service done pretty quick (average 30 minutes) compared to other shops I've visited in the past. I recently felt the need to share a review considering how long I've been a relying on this shop. Unfortunately, I've noticed a number of reviews mentioning bad experiences when dealing with the BAR CAP program. I can't say whether or not those reviews are accurate, but all my visits have been your normal, get checked and go situations. I certainly haven't experienced any upset customers during any of my visits. So as far as my review goes: If you're looking for a good in-and-out service to get your registration taken care of, these guys'll get it done. read more

"Wasted our time - Never going back" Went in because one of our cars failed a smog check and we needed to have repairs done. First guy on the phone/in person was VERY friendly. One of the first questions I asked was about the Government Assistance program which will pay up to $500 to repair your smog problems. But after 5 minutes, the experience was terrible. We were told we would get a ride back home while they did the assessment and possibly repair. We waited about 15 minutes and were then told if we wanted, we could wait because they were about 5 minutes away from finishing the assessment. So we said, "okay," because it makes sense to wait and find out what we need to do. We waited for over an hour. A woman was waiting by the counter for 20 minutes so I came out to chat with her. She said she hadn't been helped yet. In fact, the ENTIRE staff had gone to lunch. None of the staff had said anything to us. They just LEFT for lunch. ALL of them! We were 5 minutes away from complete and they just left for lunch without saying anything?? That wasn't even the worst part. When they came back from lunch, the second guy came to talk to us. He said, I stopped doing the assessment because if you are going to go through government assistance, you have to apply and be approved with them BEFORE you can get assessed/do any repair. I had asked about government assistance and made it clear I wanted to get it before I even gave them the keys. Why did it take over an hour for them to tell me that?? They should have said that IMMEDIATELY. Then, we wouldn't have waited all this time. What a waste!!!! Bottom Line: Wasted our time. All Staff went to lunch in the middle of service without saying ANYTHING. NEVER going back. read more

I just got my oil changed here for $24.30 after tax which is very competitive pricing because it would cost me $45 to get my oil changed at home using the kit that Auto Zone sells (the basic one). I drive a Corolla. Prices will vary on the car and the type of engine you are using. Tony is great, he answered all of my questions while he was changing the oil and filter in the car. I learn something new every visit. And he never fails to joke about how dirty my car is (yeah, it's a mess). Usually, there is a wait since multiple cars are in line and they serve one at a time, so download your best games on your mobile and relax in their waiting room. They have a coffee machine and a TV which is pretty nice, but I always just walk to the taco spot if it is going to take longer than expected. Saw that this place had the tools and ability to install a caliper cover kit for my car. Asked the worker if they could do the job and was directed to the manager. The manager told me they don't do that there which is fine. I told him the kit was so easy to install I could do it myself if he could just remove the tires and for me. He rudely told me to take my business somewhere else like a smaller tire shop because they did not have the time for that. He told me if he had done the job he would have charged me $100 just for that anyway because it was too much work to take off my tires and put them back on. Really?! I called the tire shop down the street and they told me that although they also would not install the kit for me, they would gladly remove my tires so I could do it myself and they would place the tire back on after I was done. The charge? $4 per tire! I was able to install my caliper kit somewhere else for only $16 and a little elbow grease. And the manager at Purrfect Auto wanted to charge me $100?! I needed to get my transmission oil changed but I didn't want to get raped ($) by aamco. So I decided to try this place out after seeing it in the penny saver. I honestly don't like cutting corners with my truck so I interrogated them to death first. They use good, synthetic mercon. They are also 60$ cheaper than the other Purrfect branch, idk why but they are. While the add says the trans service is 59$ (my truck didn't qualify, shocker...) I ended up paying 93$ still way less than anywhere else, and they did a good job. The attendant isn't the most polite guy in the world, but who cares if the job is done right- I'm sure my interrogation didn't help any either. read more

You know the mechanic you always dread going to, the kind you go to with a minor repair only to "find out" that all of a sudden you need repairs to other problems you never had before? That's exactly what happened to me here. And actually, I know for certain that either they intentionally caused a new problem or accidentally caused it and never took responsibility for it. I came to them with an emission problem: My car was failing NOX emissions in low speeds by a small fraction. I got into the BAR program to help pay for the repairs. They give me a call back that day and tell me I need to pick up my car and drive it around for a few days. I ask why and don't get an explanation ("something, reset the computer") ok what do I know. I trust them and take the car. After a few hours, the check engine light comes on. I've owned the car for 4 years and never had the light on. When I bring it back to them they tell me that I need a new coolant level sensor and that another code that shows up is the transmission. He immediately quotes me $85 to replace the sensor. I'll spare you the details and try to give the essentials: Ever since I took the car back from them, the car won't start when the engine is warm. They actually told me later on that the check engine light turned on the same day I brought the car and that the car didn't start a second time on the same day. The car not starting when the engine is warm means I can't stop to get food, or gas and so on, because the engine won't start again. I did a little internet research and turns out that a miscalibrated or a defective coolant sensor will cause exactly this problem. Exactly the problem that started the very same day I brought my car to them. It is completely clear cut then, without any question marks whatsoever, that they somehow (intentionally or not) CAUSED the sensor problem. This sensor is also related to NOX emissions so it was definitely their doings. When I asked the shop owner how come all these problems started EXACTLY after I brought my car he said it's a coincidence and they didn't do anything to the car. Methinks, since I HAD to fix everything in order to complete my car registration, and I HAD to work with them, since they are already authorized with the BAR program for my car, that I would have no choice but to pay the extra repairs. I didn't even mention how he quoted me $125 above the average repair cost for a catalytic converter. I now have to retire my car when all it needed was a new catalytic converter. God only knows what they've done to my transmission to make that all of a sudden appear on the car's computer. Because prior to entrusting my car to them, the check engine light was never on. Never. You decide if you want to give them your car. But in my book, they either don't know what they're doing or they intentionally cause problems in your car and then charge you to fix them. read more

My smog check was required to be completed at a STAR station and Purrfect Auto Paramount is listed as a STAR location. I had the smog check done and it failed. The mechanic advised me in order to further explain exactly what needs to be repaired and costs he'd have to diagnose for an addition $50. I told him I didn't have the money for repairs so it didn't make sense to diagnose. He then advised we can go pay the registration fees to the DMV, submit a request for financial assistance through the BAR CAP financial assistance program that his location is approved for, if qualified come back for repairs and he'd put the $50 diagnosis fee toward the total cost of repairs. I agreed, got the diagnosis and it came back with 2 electrical problems but emissions were fine. His estimate was $420.00. I asked if that would resolve the issue and he said he couldn't confirm - due to electrical issue it would be a process of elimination. I submitted the request for assistance thru BAR CAP program and was approved for up to $500. I brought back to him and he then says he is NOT a part of the BAR CAP program and would refer me to another location that IS to complete the repairs but I would need to pay the smog test and diagnosis fees again. I asked him why he is now saying he's not a part of the BAR CAP program and he said because the program takes up to 90 days to pay their shop which is too long for them to wait. I later confirmed thru the DMV and BAR CAP program that his location is in fact a current  approved certified participating location. I confronted him about this and he then proceeded to tell me I am free to go wherever else I wish to have the repairs completed and he didn't do anything wrong. read more

Irresponsible, two-faced employees who do not give the full picture in order to take advantage of you and take more money from you. STAY AWAY! Did not want to go to this shop, but I was approved for the BAR CAP program so that the state would pick up my bill for smog repairs. I had failed a smog test and met the financial need requirement, which is why I was approved. Called nearly every shop in my area and this was the only one that accepts CAP. Got to the shop and was told that I would need to pay for another smog test and a diagnostic, neither of which I could use the Penny Saver coupons for because "CAP is a process they cannot alter or mess with; coupons just would not work." I asked why I needed a smog test, since I already presented the shop and the BAR with the failed test report from a different station, and was told again that they just have to "cuz that's what the process is." I left the car with them and asked for a call after the test and diagnostic just so that we were all on the same page. I got a call after the test saying that my car barely passed the smog test, so no work would be required on the car and that CAP no longer applied since my car was not failing. They said they would speak with the mechanic that ran the diagnostic and make sure it was passing, but otherwise, nothing else was needed and I could come pick up my car. At pick up, I was charged over $100 for the smog test and the diagnostic. When asked why on earth they ran the diagnostic after the car passed the smog and no longer qualified for CAP, I was told again that it was just the CAP process and I was required to pay it. I feel completely taken advantage of. I understand paying for the smog test, and hey, it's great that I passed and don't have to worry about repairs...but I only authorized the diagnostic based on needing smog repairs...which now, based on their magic test I no longer needed and could not even pay for with CAP. And they still would not let me use the coupons, saying "oooh, it's all CAP, we've gotta follow their process" and all I wanted to shout was...WE ARE NOT USING CAP NOW, BECAUSE I PASSED THE TEST, SO THERE IS NO PROCESS! It felt like a lot of double talk and boloney used to get money from me that I should not have had to pay in the first place. As if all of this headache was not enough, when I pulled up to the shop to pick up my car it was unattended in the open front lot UNLOCKED WITH ALL OF THE WINDOWS DOWN! When I asked them why they left the car like this in a place where any one could have easily taken stuff from it, they said "Eh, it's a safe area and no one would do anything bad to the car and they would have seen it if they did." Their desk does not face the lot, many of the employees are in the back, especially during their lunch when no one is near the lot, and, oh yeah, this is not a great neighborhood. They were just honestly too lazy to be bothered with rolling up the windows and locking the doors. Will never go back, CAP or otherwise. And from other reviews, it looks like other CAP recipients have had trouble with this shop. While they may be an approved CAP shop, it certainly seems like they have no interest in serving CAP customers honestly and appropriately. read more

I brought my vehicle to Purrfect Auto because it was leaking antifreeze. They said I needed a new radiator. I asked them twice was this the problem and they said yes. After replacing the radiator and test driving it, the problem was worse than when I first brought in my vehicle. The water was now boiling hot! Then they told me it wasn't the radiator, it was a blown head gasket. So now I was already out of $274 for the radiator that I didn't need, and now they are quoting me an additional $1100 for a new head gasket, which was supposedly the real problem. I declined because at this point I didn't trust them anymore and didn't want to pay for anything else I didn't need! After taking my vehicle to my regular mechanic, he diagnosed the problem and guess what, it WAS NOT the head gasket either, it was the WATER PUMP!!!! read more
