The Hangover Burger with onion rings (pre lettuce tomatoes and onions)

First off, I enjoyed my time in Rehoboth Beach. The community is friendly and diverse. Now, for the Purple Parrot. It's a casual restaurant with a friendly and diverse staff and clientele. I ordered the Hangover burger and my partner ordered the cheesesteak. Both were incredible! Now I love a good burger and I have enjoyed many, but this burger took the cake. I believe it was handmade and grilled to my satisfaction. I asked for medium well and it was delicious. Tender. Juicy. Hardy. I don't recall if this particular burger comes with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions but I made sure to ask for it, and when it all came together... It was sublime. Chef's kiss. Also, the cheesesteak was a knock out. Very well made. Seasoned but not over seasoned. Greasy (as a good cheesesteak should be) but not overly greasy. The bread on both my burger and the cheesesteak was fresh and toasted accordingly. I mean if there was ever a standard for a burger or cheese stake, the Purple Parrot sets the bar. I would definitely return and I would recommend. I also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We were warmly greeted and overall, felt comfortable enough to actually relax and enjoy our food and conversation without being rushed or constantly interrupted by over-attentive servers. Finally, I believe both dishes were priced affordably and appropriately (appx. $15 each). Thanks PP. I hope to return again soon.

Mushroom fettuccini at Sirocco

I visited Purple Parrot Grill on a Sunday evening minutes before 7pm with my two daughters--one is 10, the other a teenager. It was July 4th weekend, so I anticipated there might be a wait, but I was excited to try the place because of their menu variety. Upon entering, I was approached by a hostess. I simply said "3," indicating our party size. Her immediate response was a blunt "no." Confused, I asked, "No, as in...?" She replied, "We're full." I then asked, "Okay, so you're not seating anyone for the rest of the night?" Again, she said, "No." Trying to understand, I said, "Don't you close at 1am?" She confirmed they did, but then added, "We don't seat kids after 9pm." I pointed out that it was only 7pm and asked if she meant they wouldn't have any seating available for the next two hours. She simply repeated, "No." What bothered me most was the cold and dismissive tone, and how I had to pull every piece of information out of her. From the start, there was no clear explanation, no courtesy, no effort to communicate what the actual policy or issue was. I left angry and disappointed. I ended up just going back to my hotel and having dinner there at Sirocco which was delicious with great service. If there are special procedures or policies about seating children after a certain time that's completely understandable--but it needs to be clearly communicated, and above all, delivered with some basic respect and professionalism. This was not the warm, welcoming experience I had hoped for, and unfortunately, it left a really bad impression.

I took a trip here with my partner. There was a staffing issue in the beginning, but the waitresses were very accommodating and went above and beyond to correct the issue. The drinks were pretty good, and not watered down, which I can definitely appreciate. We ordered nachos, which were very bland. We didn't even finish them. But the salad was actually really good. Like surprisingly good. The chicken has a nice char to it. It was well seasoned and Smokey. Can't complain at all about that. The atmosphere was also unique with dollar bills all along the ceilings and wall that has been autographed by customers. I think if they upgraded the quality of some of the entrees, this place would be a real hit. But it's still a decent experience. And not overly expensive.

Let's start by saying, from what I remember... I stopped by the Purple Parrot for drinks with my sister-in-laws, & we had quite the time! Our bartender, Connor, definitely has the patience of a saint because I'm sure he was ready to be done before we were finished. But he hung in there, thanks for putting up with it all. Hope the fat tip made it worth it! We enjoyed several drinks & shots together, & my in-laws grabbed some food earlier in the visit. The vibe is laid back & casual with a fun, eclectic atmosphere that really adds to the charm. Definitely a spot to remember (or not)!

My friend and I had great service and frequented the parrot on our trip. The specials are great and the vibes are very beach tropical. Had a great time putting our dollar bill on the wall!

Wife had a salad and I had a marinated chicken/bacon/cheese sandwich.

Every time we are at the beach, my wife and I eat here. The ambience is that of a tiki bar and very clean! It is LGBTQ AND straight friendly. Everyone can feel at home here. If you can't, well.....thats on you. Anyway....On 3/13/25, we had Grace as our server. She is top notch!!!!!!! The food....well.....while they don't have as much to choose from (still, a great selection) as some places, you won't find any better food around. From the taste, the freshness to the presentation.....It is PERFECT!

As someone who generally loves Mexican food and a great vibe I was excited to stumble upon the Purple Parrot. I really liked the place, very chill but fun and an easy place to get comfortable with my buddy. Service was slow, kind of surprising since there weren't that many customers, but food was kind of disappointing. Ordered steak tacos which looked like they were missing some ingredients and tasted like flavored fat. Ich. Too bad.

Friday $10 Fish Tacos for lunch. Bartender very friendly and continue md to apologize for the weight since I ordered before I got there! Great conversation so worth the wait!

The Parrot is a very chill, friendly bar and restaurant right off the beach. There is a huge outdoor space with its own bar, which is a very fun place to have a drink and meet people. If you're looking for food, you can head inside where the vibe is dive bar from the 90s. The food also is surprisingly good, especially the quesadillas. Highly recommend checking this place out for a nice daytime cocktail - especially the crushes.

Chicken Quesadilla

Dipped in for a quick shareable bite. Sat on the bar side, at "the best seat in the house" .. arguable.. bartender stopped over soon after we got our menus. We started just with water, and he gave us a few. We soon ordered drinks and food. We both went with a "crush" mine was blood orange, and my lovely gf ordered an orange creamsicle crush. Both drinks were tasty. Mine gave me more of a regular orange crush, then a more tart blood orange taste. Good nonetheless, I finished it! We ordered the chicken quesadilla, sharing, and it was delicious! Very good flavor, and the sides (sour cream, guac, and salsa) was super fresh!! We finished up pretty quickly, and sat there with empty glasses. Outside of our bartender walking past us to do something else, and another staff member just walking by, no one else checked on us, or even asked if we'd like a refill. We soon flagged down a random employee to ask for our check. She then informed the bartender, who soon brought it over. Maybe a bad day, I get it, but we definitely would have had another drink.

We stopped here for lunch after a few hours on the beach. You can't miss this restaurant, it is painted purple on the outside and the inside walls are covered in dollar bills. It is located right on the Main Street of Rehoboth, so it is easy to walk to from the beach. I got the fish and chips which were pretty good. The fish I wanted to be more crispy, but I really liked the coleslaw. The service was a little slow but it is a beach restaurant. We heard this place is also a popular bar at night but we didn't have the energy to check it out at night

Crab cake sandwich

The fam was very eager to try PBG so wishes were granted. =) Tables a bit sticky and some happy flies in the air, but staff were friendly and attentive. I sensed that some serious parties / late nights take place here. I honestly had average expectations for the crab cake sandwich special but it was actually pretty decent!

Ask the Community - Purple Parrot Grill

Can people under 18 eat here is there a time cut off?

Yes - the Parrot is a full service restaurant most of the time - the age restriction occurs at 10 PM when the various "shows" begin and is more bar than dining venue.

Lets begin with the atmosphere because it was delightful. Its a small, intimate space where the spirit of a speakeasy shines through easily. The exposed ductwork, the classy yet eclectic decor, it is a delightful little space. Service was great. Fast, funny, and polite through the entire meal. We went for drinks and apps and I gotta say we will be coming back for dinner for sure me and my wife. How about the food and drink? Well, any of y'all who follow me know I'm not a huge drinker, but I did try the Oolong Hot Toddy and was extremely happy! Warm, the sochu and tea mix so well together, a nice garnish of candied ginger and lemon makes the presentation of this delightful little libation. (Ha, a pun!) Now, the food. Cheese board was great but, thats cheese anyone can assemble a cheese board. No, my credit goes to the crab dip and the calamari. Both dishes were done perfectly, not too greasy, beautifully crunchy calamari and supremely flavorful crab dip. Overall an easy 5, I'd rate 6 if I could.

A speakeasy done right. Nice elusive space with quintessential speakeasy vibes all around. This…read moreplace is literally tucked away inside of The Summer House along Rehoboth Ave. There's metered parking (free off season), but it's also walkable if staying in the Main Street area. Make reservations as this is a small space. Very comfortable seating. Lots of decor that again fits the space. Great music playing as well. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and then escorted back into the speakeasy which has its own door. Once inside, we were greeted and introduced to the two servers who worked together all evening. They were very attentive and friendly. They made the visit enjoyable. The menu lights up... literally. Super fun to pick from the numerous drink and food options. For a speakeasy, you will be surprised at how many different options there are. The prices are beyond reasonable for the craft cocktails and amazing food. Started off with cocktails (first round) - Veruca Salt (highly recommend due to its spicy foam & deliciousness), Purple Butterfly (yum), The Ultimate Dirty Martini (very pungent), and The Smoked Cherry (nice presentation/event - also tasty). All of these were delicious and made well. Second round was The Night Shift and a Brown Butter Old Fashioned and again, both delightful. Dessert round was Creme Brûlée Espresso Martini (highly recommend - great presentation with a small mallet that cracks the brûlée on top & absolutely amazing - this is a sweet drink so loom as a dessert option), Espresso Martini (hazelnut flavor and good), and a Carijilo. All items from the bar were super tasty and well made. This is a craft drink place and the quality and attention to details are spot on for the speakeasy vibe. Not only are the drinks superb, but the food is also very well made and very affordable. We started with the cheese tower which is a great option for a group to enjoy. We also ordered the calamari which came with the most delicious horseradish dipping sauce, and lamb lollipops (4 per order). All of this was delicious. Then, tried the seafood bisque, French onion soup, Pumpkin/Crab/Mushroom Soup, and Seared Sea Scallops. The soups were super filling and all had a terrific flavor profile. The scallops were served on risotto and this was great. Seriously, the food is amazing. Not what you normally would find in a speakeasy. They even had dessert options (we had drinks instead). This was a lovely experience. Just overall fantastic and a great surprise hidden in a beach town. For sure make reservations. If visiting for the week, just go ahead and pick two nights to visit so you can try all of the things. Well done. Looking forward to another visit.
