BUYER BEWARE. Purchased our Puronics Terminator unit (with "NASA technology") in 2013 for around $4K. We were told this unit would last us a "lifetime", and would be something we could move to a new home with, even pass on to our children. So we decided to make, at that time, a big investment on our Puronics water softener. The installation by the Puronics installation team was botched the first time - installers made a hole in our ceiling, said the unit couldn't be installed (because they couldn't figure out which way the water flowed through our pipe), and left. A second installation team, however, did the job correctly. Our unit's carbon filter required servicing roughly every 2 years, which increased in cost over time (~$200 to $350) but we anticipated these costs. Well, lifetimes must only be about 10 years because now, Puronics says our model is no longer made and parts need to be replaced but are no longer available , so we need to buy a new unit. The sales people with this company should be the technicians who actually service and know their products. We will be replacing our unit but definitely NOT with Puronics. read more

I had the Culligan system including water softener and drinking filter systems since 1990. They worked excellent for more than 30 years until three months ago. The softener broke down and degraded the water pressure. I decided to purchase similar equipments from Puronics since they are slightly cheaper. The price includes the systems, parts and installation. It was the mistake. I should have bought the new Culligan system since the original was so good for more than 30 years. So far, the Puronics water softener seems to be ok. However, The Puronics technician installed the water drinking poorly. He tapped the new water filter into the badly corroded valve which was installed by Culligan originally in 1990. Puronics then refused to fix the installation issue and said that I have to buy the parts and pay for the service. I left it alone and pray for the best. Few days ago, it is getting worse, there was the leak in the Puronics tube junctions for the water drinking system. This junction is within Puronics interconnection tubes and not the corroded valve mentioned in the previous paragraph. It damaged the base wooded board underneath the sink. Fortunately, I was able to fix it by tightening the clamp to stop the leak and prevent further damage. This happened after I paid Puronics for the completely new system 3 months ago. Hope that you do not make the same mistake by going with Puronics. read more

First thank you to Henry for servicing water softener, RO drinking unit and installing a new RO drinking unit. When I placed an order with Reyna for servicing my existing RO unit on the phone, she said it will cost $240 to service the unit. She never made it clear to me that to service membrane it will cost additional $250. I was under the impression that all 3 filters would be replaced and serviced. Also, when I asked the technician to swap out RO unit tank, Reyna called me said the tank will cost $600. I know for fact is that tank would not costs this much. Not very happy with how I was treated, especially I have been a long time customer. read more

I purchased a whole house system. Less than a week later, the water softener is leaking (see attached picture). You'd think a leak is an urgent service matter, but apparently, 3 emails and 2 calls are not enough to get anyone's attention. The standard response is "someone will get back to you shortly." This "company" is the worst I've ever dealt with. From what I can tell it is made up of 2 maybe 3 people who do their best to avoid solving any problems or then avoid communications. They outsource installation to third party companies (which seems pretty common in the industry), but taking it one step further these third part companies frequently over promise, and under deliver, and finally- GO BANKRUPT so you have no one to contact when issues come up. Doug at Puronics seems to be the only contact that all of your customer service issues get forwarded to - and again - eventually falls off communication. I requested a head unit replacement for my system which was installed only 4 months ago (and this head unit broke after 1 month of installation). I still have not received it and for the last month have not received any return to my communications. $4000 paid and a broken - unusable system sits in my basement. read more

Horrible installation & poor customer service. I purchased this system for the second time on my new house since the first system I had worked great. I purchased the system my first week at the new house as it was still getting remodeled. I knew what the system did and didn't pay much attention to the install since my attention was focused on the remodel of the home. I somehow was blind and didn't see the install work quality until 3 years later when I realized how horrible of an install the technician did! The system is tucked away in the corner of the garage and I did not notice this until we were getting our garage floors epoxied. I immediately called customer service and sent them photos of the mud and caulking the installer smushed together to remake a patch of missing dry wall. The customer service lady said this is normal and I should hire someone else to fix it... I explained how unhappy I was and how my first house had a clean install. She said she would call me back and it's been over 2 weeks. Terrible customer service and I will not be going back for another system on my next house. read more

They would have surely got 4 or 5 stars but because of below reasons they get 3 1.) The technician who came to install the softener did not wear mask right from the time he knocked my door until the end of the installation; this is about a month go before we all were getting vaccinated. 2.) The technician who installed RO did a rookie mistake which caused kind of a big leak under my sink; unfortunately I had to deal with it during night time. 3.) when I reported the major leak i was told that I would receive a call back in an hour or 2 with the more exact time of arrival of technician, however I had to call them back at around 4 PM just to know that technician won't be able to make it until tomorrow morning. I am fine with the delay but not happy with the customer service and their responsiveness to the commitment. On a positive note, the guy who came later was experienced and knew exactly what the issue was and how to rectify it. 4.) I expected somebody to ask me if anything was damaged due to the leak, however nobody cared to ask not even a thought about it. I had the leak 2 times before it went bad and had a major leak with the dishwater water flowing out of the backup hose from the top of the sink. Not once did they bother to ask if there was any damage to the cabinet due to the leak, which was because of their installation miss. read more

I bought their water purifying system last year, and it was supposed to include one free service within the first year. Following the initial installation on May 10, 2023, it came to my attention that the installers didn't do the installation correctly and so they came back the next day (May 11, 2023) to fix the installation and explain what was left out on May 10. I called the other day after returning from my trip to request the free one year service option. Upon calling, I was surprised when they said that they considered the visit they made the day after installation to complete and correct the installation on May 10, 2023, as the first year free service visit. read more

Overall, most companies are more or less the same with a resin & salt tank but decided to go with Puronics for the following reasons: - Brittany in the Sales team was honest and didn't try to sell the most expensive unit but understood the needs of the home (sq footage and number of people) and made a recommendation - I felt more comfortable promoting a local business since Puronics is East-Bay based - The Sales team was patient in answering many questions - Price point appeared to be more appealing than the competition - Installation happened on time and Terry was a great guy with good workmanship I'm having my fingers crossed that the unit runs well for the next 10-12 years! We are very happy with our Puronics system. Jeff Atkinson provided us with excellent customer service and was always very responsive (email was the best way to reach him). Jeff came to our home for a detailed consultation, and on installation day everything went very smoothly. Water was shuttoff for about 1 hour. Be aware of other companies selling the Puronics treatment system for a cheaper price. They might be selling an older model that needs frequent carbon changes. The current Puronics C system no longer needs frequent carbon changes. Hikes up the price a bit, but well worth it. read more

I've had some good - and never ever bad - service appts for my water softener, including upgrading it within the last 2-few years, but this was over-the-top GREAT! You could say I now have a water softener guy. You need a mechanic, a plumber, etc. Well, Steve is that good. He communicated very well, explained things, and provided insights to help me further understand my water softener and how to utilize and care for it. He patiently answered my questions and demonstrated before and after how hard my water was. Steve was also prompt, conscientious of my property and efficient. The appt was over before I knew it, and even at the end he remained positive and patient. THIS WAS GREAT SERVICE!!! Thank you! (A note for Puronics phone customer service: multiple calls revealed issues reaching someone and getting the call started to make a service appt.
