Hubs introduced me to Purola's in 2013 and after the first bite became a huge fan of their pizza. There is nothing comparable to Purola's pizza anywhere. Last weekend we were in the area and stopped at their new location which is very nice. I tried the Lobster Ravioli and oh man it was the best I have ever had!! Don't bother trying to get take out. Stopped in to place a take out order and couldn't do it last night. "not enough staff... staff didn t show up yet" but people are eating in the dining room. Typical help these days. Called in a pizza order then waited 25 minutes inline to pick it up. Lady said "we are getting all the take out orders ready and then giving them out". lol. How about if an order is done then ring the customer out if they are there. Complete joke. Don't waste your time. read more

Wow...I am shocked at how bad the service and food were this evening. We arrived at 5:15 to place an order for thick crust pizza and there were out.. extremely disappointed! It took 20 plus minutes to get a cheese stick appetizer, over 35 mins for a salad, then pizza arrived an hour after order. No refills were offered either, needless to say we won't be back. read more

Family came here from out of town and we took them down to Bridge Street to have the BEST pizza!! We ordered a large variety of food off the menu from spaghetti to pepperoni rolls to pizza and the salad bar. Everyone was pleased and couldn't believe this gem of a restaurant was hidden in Ashtabula. Try the pepperoni lovers pizza,New York style! I only tried one item on the menu so keep that in mind. My husband had been here before and liked it- so we arrived on a Friday night. (People watching on 5th Street is worth the drive.) I wasn't in the mood to experiment so I went for my #1 favorite pizza, thin crust red pie with meatball topping. Meatballs are not on the list but I noticed that homemade meatballs came with spaghetti so I asked if they would top a pizza and they graciously agreed! (Big points for a busy Friday night). I loved it- everything about it was perfect. Beautiful thin crust, exactly the right amount of sauce and cheese and the meatball topping was so good. I am not a deep dish or "the works" fan at all. This is good pizza. Service was great- relaxed but efficient. It's a nice warm space and the chairs are good. Not everyone's priority, but a comfortable chair makes a difference. (Bentwood chairs should be made extinct). We liked it, we think you should try it and hope you will like it too. read more

We were in the mood for pizza. Looked at the ratings & decided this is the place. We were immediately greeted and seated. The waiter was very friendly and tentative. We ordered a mushroom and Italian sausage pizza. After a few minutes it came to the table. It was really good. A lot of ingredients and cheese. The crust was not to thin and not to thick. Ordered a pizza from here on Saturday night , was told it would be 45 minutes, returned in 45 minutes, was told it would be another 20 minutes, the first one didn't come out right (that's just a ** excuse). It took a hour and 15 minutes. If I wouldn't have paid for it when we ordered. I would have went somewhere else. When it was finally ready all I received was sorry it took so long. For me, this pizza is a do not miss when in Ashtabula. Their thick crust pizza has a bit of crunch on the bottom and around the edge which makes it unique and tasty. The toppings are fresh and ample. This pizza looks as good as it tastes. They also have micro brews, salad bar and lots of other menu items. As far as the wait staff goes they have always been friendly and attentive. read more

I see that the earlier review was done several years ago...either things have changed, or that reviewer had unusually high expectations. First--it was clean and orderly inside. Second--the pizza was good, and they have a small salad bar. Third--they have an acceptable range of beers. Fourth--the staff was also clean cut, and friendly. Fifth--the Bridge area of Ashtabula is quite vibrant, with several quaint and interesting shops. Nice place to spend a few hours. I am not here to write about that however, I want to draw your attention to an overlooked item on the menu called Eggplant Lasagna. It is delicious and a real treat. If available and they use their aged dough they produce a thin New York style Margarita pizza that is absolutely fabulous. The sauce has a fresh taste that is perfect. Served on a dimpled round tray that prevents the crisp crust from steaming and softening. Lots of attention to detail. Worth a visit. read more

I enjoyed their restaurant on Bridge Street so decided to give this one a try. I have to say it is a bit of a step down. I think they have changed gluten free crust brands and the new Udi's one is not as good as the one they sold previously. Also, the service was poor though to be fair the server was new and servers are in short supply. But we waited an extraordinarily long time between each interaction and finally had to bring our bill up to pay. And, this may be a personal preference but I don't love that the building is carpeted. It just doesn't seem to be sanitary for a restaurant. Also $1.50 per topping on the already up-charged cost of a plain gluten free pizza seems ridiculous. There should be at least 1-2 toppings included. Overall, it was a very dissatisfying experience and I will likely not be back to this location as I can make an Udi's pizza at home for a lot less with better atmosphere and friendlier service. read more

I have not found any pizza, sauce or meatballs anywhere else better than Purola Brothers. Everything is fresh and delicious. I love the standard type pizza but also the unique specialty pizza's too! While the server was extremely nice and friendly, the overall experience was not. They were open until 9:30 and upon our arrival at 8:30 I couldn't wait to have a salad from the salad bar that I had heard so much about. The server brought our salad plates, and we were told by another employee that it had closed at 8:30. What???? Much to our disappointment we scrapped the salad and ordered calzones. 40 minutes later we were still waiting and ended up taking them to go. BEST PIZZA !! the food and service are so good here that we drive from Cleveland several times a month just to eat dinner here. have yet to be disappointed with anything other than the temporary closure to relocate to a bigger venue. we are so happy for the revitalization of this area it is just such a little hidden "GEM" I highly recommend this place for dinner or pizza and they just keep getting better. shout out to a few of our favorite servers/bartenders...clayton is the man...steph is awesome and Sam is just such a lil cutie pie !! ;-) ;-) read more

The pizza is good, but NOT WORTH IT. The service is crazy slow. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. Expect to wait ~45 minutes to an hour for food and good luck getting drink refills. My family and I have eaten here multiple times hoping that the next time will be better, but it never improves. We actually have a running joke that you need to ask for the check when you get your food because you'll wait another 20 minutes before your waiter comes back to the table. Management is poor and there must be a high turnover rate with service staff. Last time we are giving them a chance. Try Capos pizza for good food and service. read more

We were in Ashtabula Harbor for the Beach Glass Festival and stopped in for lunch. Everything was fabulous. I had the lunch deal which was a slice of pizza, the salad bar and a drink for $8.99. The salad bar has a ton of toppings, which was great. No romaine lettuce which is my favorite, but they had a big bowl of iceberg that was obviously not from a bag, and smaller bowls of spinach and spring mix. I chose a slice of pizza that was deep dish with 3 meats and 3 cheeses and a top crust. Actually, calling it a "slice" of pizza isn't really accurate. It was huge. I ended up bringing 3/4 of it home for later. My friend had the fried eggplant sandwich which she raved about, along with the fries. We had the cheesy bread appetizer, which was phenomenal. We definitely plan to eat here again. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the service was a bit slow even though we were there well before the lunch rush, and I had to walk up to the counter to get a soda refill. But that will not deter me one bit from coming back again. Highly recommend. read more

We love bridge street!!! since moving into the area we've tried almost all the pizza in the area and Bridge street is the best!

All have good service and the food good. We mostly get pizza or wings they are really good. Always come back for seconds.

Good food service terrible- ordered pizza's for carry out pre-paid had a friend pick them up for me and they made him pay again did not get a courtesy call to say they made a mistake had to go in two days later and question them about it, before the told me yea we found the mistake at close out that night. Now 3 weeks later I order 2 Pizza's for carry out and they tell me 45 minuets. Ok no problem it's a Saturday night so I get there in 50 minuets to pick the pizza's up and they tell me that it is going to be 25 more minuets. ??? How about a courtesy call to let me know?? So you would think that maybe they would offer a courtesy drink while I have to wait on their mistake. NO DIDN'T HAPPEN just a yes it's going to be 25 more minuets. Well I guess I can spend my money at another place that has a little more courtesy. Also get home with pizza's and the pizza that I ordered with pineapple on it didn't have pineapple on it. Tonight I decided after a long day of work (as a medical professional) to order two pizzas for take out. I placed the order at 6:30 with an approximate wait time of 50 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:15. So give or take my pizza would take another 10 minutes. The young man at the counter said it'll be 15 minutes. Okay fine that's just slightly over my given time. I waited way longer, 30 minutes to be exact. Sounds like my pizza hadn't even been made. When I was finally called to the counter I asked if their were onions on the pizza (on my order I clearly stated no onions). Well low and behold there were onions. I was not offered a refund I was offered another pizza that would take ANOTHER 20 minutes. I was not offered a refund, I was offered only another long wait for something I already pre paid for online. After a long day of work this is not wanted I want to hear. Daily I am working in my community to take care of people's health and well being, and in return all I wanted was hot pizza for dinner. Instead I am frustrated and hungry. I always support local business over the chains but until this is resolved I will definitely not be back. read more

Ashtabula's already a fairly depressed city, and this place does it no help. We stopped by after finding the near by Bistro closed for the day and figuring their advertised pizza, salads, and a pitcher every day special would be a good deal only to find the worst pizza we've ever seen, and service to nearly match it. Our tossed salads, which we ordered special with the addition of cheese and egg looked old, the egg yolks were aging(turning greenish grey already) and the cheese was clumped shreds that looked like they had been stacked in bags for a long time. The pizza followed nearly 20 minutes later, and looked as if they had run to a gas station and simply reheated what was had been spinning around under their heat lamps. The cheese was brown and greasy, and the sauce was very pasty and not very flavorful. The looks of the place were great, it appears to have been recently remodeled, and I think that's what really tricked us and led us there in the first place. What a mistake!! read more

Any positive reviews for this restaurant must have been written by the owners, family and friends, NOT by customers. I have had pizza in several locations in Italy, in most of the major cities of the United States, AND my grandmother from Rome, Italy started the very first pizzeria in Ashtabula County in the late 1940's. My point, I have a broad experience and appreciation of the many varieties of "great" pizza. I ordered take out. Normally I would look at the food before leaving any take out restaurant but did not on this occasion. When I arrived back at my home and opened the box my honest reaction was "WTF" is this ?!?! A ridiculously small amount of toppings, so little sauce that it looked as if the dough had been tinted with red water color paint. And now for the real disappointment... I literally could not taste the cheese or the sauce. And since this restaurant had defied the industry standard of having enough toppings so that you could taste them in EACH BITE, (there were approximately two pieces of toppings per SLICE) a generic "Pillsbury" dough mix crust flavor was all I could taste. I am serious when I say that a garden variety frozen pizza (which I have not had since college) would be better. Now, all this was bad enough, but wait, my experience got worse. I immediately called the restaurant back, but it was now closed. I called the next day, spoke with the phone order person (Manager was not in or more likely not taking calls) and asked Manager to call me. No call that day. Called next day. Person said Manager was busy. I told the order taker about my experience. He apologized and said he would have Manager call back and arrange to refund my purchase or take my name for a future second chance replacement pizza . Manager called back an hour later. I asked if the order taker had told him my comments. He replied, "He told me you said it was the worst pizza you ever had". Yes. And? "You are entitled to your opinion". When I asked if he would simply refund my purchase he said, "No way." and then hung up. No learning. No attempt to explore how to make this transaction "right" for the Customer. Dear Reader, I cannot recommend a good frozen pizza to you,, but please try one of those first before wasting $17 and your gas on what this restaurant calls pizza. Other Bridge Street proprietors, do not send you guests to this place and thereby cast doubt on your own reputation. read more

Has Recently been bought out buy a local pizzeria called bruno brothers. the pizza before was horrible the worst I had ever had my dog would not even eat it seriously. But the pizza place there now is good they have a wide variety and I enjoy the pizza now. I'm not going to go as far s to say it is the best I have ever had but it is enjoyable and a nice little restaurant. read more

Love this place! We have become regulars and have since moved, but still travel the 20 minutes for fantastic pizza! The salad bar alone is worth checking this place out, always a ton of fresh items. I HIGHLY recommend the tomato basil ricotta thin crust (you're gonna want the 21", not the 14" - trust me) and I have yet to try the s'mores pizza - but it always tempts me..
