The image depicts a winter mountain scene with snow-covered slopes and a town nestled in the valley below. Tall, leafless trees are visible in the foreground, along with some wooden fencing and equipment. The background features distant mountain ranges under a partly cloudy sky, creating a broad and expansive view of the winter landscape.

We bought ticket for the mountain coaster and never having been there before, was sure where to go. We bought the 3 ride passes and got stuck on various parts of the coaster (there were 3 of us). There were 2 cars in front of me--first one was having a malfunction. Stuck for 25ish minutes. We were looking to sled on tubs but never could find it. Poor signage, very expensive food. Adult chicken tenders-$15 TO SUB FRIES--$4. Seriously?!

We went here for the Alpine Slides. There was a few sprinkles of rain when we're standing in line and everything came to a screeching halt. They then sent 2 sleds down with employees to dry it off. It reopened and we took the chairlift to the top. 3 of the 4 of our party were allowed to go down and then 1 minute later, they stopped the ride again, and left me stranded at the top. I had to take a really bumpy ancient rickety school bus ride down the dirt rocky dirt to the bottom of the mountain to join my concerned family. The driver Ben and helper Dill were fun to talk to. We were told we could get a refund back, as the resort was now closed. I never went in one ride. We had to ask management to get a full refund as the girl at the window did not want to refund us at all. That is poor management.

This is my first year being a season pass holder. We've be visiting purgatory for our annual family ski trip for quite a few years now and we decided it's worth more than one trip a year. Yes the prices here have been going up like every other resort in the country post-Covid, but I feel it's still a great value considering the lift lines move a long pretty fast and they have plenty of trails to ski. My only complaint is that the public bathroom weren't kept up as much as I wanted but it's a holiday week and the parking lots were full to capacity so that's understandable. Overall we had another amazing week here 22 inches of new snow and more on the way. BTW nothing beats a beer at the Powderhouse, Dante's or Purgys on a ski day. Looking forward to my next trip.

Fantastic resort!!! Absolutely gorgeous mountains, friendly & professional staff, very reasonable prices and amazing, fun, family-friendly atmospheric. It's worth the trek to Durango to ski at Purgatory. Such a gem. We will definitely be back!!!!

My wife and I participated in the Alpenglow Snowshoe Tour. We paid $65 each for snowshoe rentals, lift tickets, and appetizers at the Powderhouse. The tour lasted from 3:00 till 7:30 PM (past sunset) and we saw some spectacular light on the surrounding mountain peaks. Photography was highly encouraged on this tour and a DSLR would easily be light enough to hike with. My wife enjoyed the six person, cushioned chair lift that drops you off on top of the San Juan Mountains. Our group had two guides, Jan and Cynthia, who shared their extensive knowledge of the local animal tracks and pine trees we were seeing. They also offered to take pictures of the participants at all of the scenic stops. This tour was not physically taxing at all. In total, we hiked 3.3 miles and most of that was either downhill or flat going. We hiked about 1 mile until sunset and then the Alpenglow decided to show itself on the surrounding peaks in pink and rosy hues. Grizzly Mountain and Engineer Mountain were gorgeous with this glow (see attached pictures). After sunset we were treated to appetizers, wine and hot cocoa inside the Powderhouse Restaurant. The selection of four wines included three red and one white and the cheeses included brie and sharp cheddar. This stop allowed everyone to warm up and fill up. After eating, we descended under a beautiful, silent, starlit night. Everyone had already left the mountain by the time we started our tour except for the snow grooming machine operators and the ski patrol. The majority of the hike is downhill, occurring after the Powderhouse Restaurant. If you like spectacular views, fun, knowledgeable tour guides, gourmet food, and easy, reasonable hikes then this is the tour for you. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is I wish the hike had been a bit more of a workout and the walk in the parking lot after the tour was a bit treacherous. The resort needs to throw down some salt to keep the parking lot from freezing into a ice rink.

What an amazing experience. The staff provided outstanding customer service from parking staff, host Terry, and exceptional snowboarding lesson with Emilio. Terry walked us around like we were VIP, explained how to get every where, and had the best attitude. A++ service. Emilio was extremely patient with me as a first time adult learner. His instruction was very clear and he let me go at my pace.

Snow angels are a must! - A child wearing a pink and purple winter snowsuit and black gloves is lying on their back in fresh, white snow, making a snow angel. The child’s arms and legs are spread out, and the snow around them is shaped into the outline of an angel. The background shows snow-covered ground with shadows cast by nearby trees, indicating a sunny day at a ski resort.

Had an amazing week in Purg right before Christmas where the snow did not disappoint! Tips to this place and Snowbowl in AZ + 6 other sister mountains = buying the season pass early in the fall- massive savings if you are ever going for a week trip or avid goer. So here's the breakdown and what you need to know if headed north to CO: (12/26/21) Pros: -They literally just got over 20" of snow! -Get your tickets on line wicked easy -Link online for the mountain showing runs and lifts open - Instagram acct give decent updates but their website is better - Snowshoe tours are amazing - $45 pp, for a 2+ mile hike in back country (it's no joke as far as exercise be ready!) 9am or 1pm afternoon tours. Amazing views, go off property at the top after taking the lift up - Guest services- awesome people there to help right by the drive up circle- -FREE posters of the mountain and runs at Guest services! Super cool! -SPF if needed - Sunglasses to barrow if needed - Lost and found Cons: -open 9/3:30 only (no night riding) - !!!!!!- limited food at night, most everything closes at 4:30 - example pizza place if you get off the mountain at 3:30, place your pizza order at 4, easily a 2 hour wait before you get it due to labor shortage - they will let you sit in there while you wait but you have to get in the door before 4:30 - Market has very limited grocery food so bring your food with you or stop in town on way up!!!! Otherwise you are stuck w no food -No night life at all on the mountain - you have to leave Massive labor shortage on mountain just like everywhere less right now, so be patient with the Purgatory team- all super nice folks and lots of them or volunteers! Everyone doing the best they can to make your trip great- smile ride, ski, snowshoe whatever your fancy- but make it great!

One of my favorite views! - A person dressed in black ski gear, including a helmet and goggles, stands on a snow-covered mountain slope with arms raised and holding ski poles. The background features snow-capped mountains, a forest of pine trees, and a partly cloudy sky, indicating a winter day at a ski resort.

If you are looking to enjoy hot springs and a cold plunge, this is a great spot. We made…read morereservations and booked online, and before booking they clearly show how many spots are available for each time slot. It was $40 per person, and we came during one of the busiest times. I wouldn't try walk in. The website mentions that adults and kids have separate areas. However, there were teenagers in the adult pools, and there did not seem to be any limits on how many people could be in one pool. At one point, there were about 18 people in a single pool, which surprised me. There are 32 pools total, with 16 on the adult side. The hottest pool was 109 degrees and felt amazing. They have fire pits outside if you need to warm up when it is cold. There are dressing rooms and showers inside the bathrooms, but we later realized there are additional changing rooms outside with more space. Lockers are available inside for $5, which is convenient but a bit small if you have a lot of bags. There are also free lockers outside near the outdoor changing rooms, but they are open without doors. Overall, it was a great experience. I think the best time to come would be during the week when it is less crowded, so be mindful of weekends, holidays, and long breaks. The parking lot was fine, just a little tight and crowded. I would definitely come back.

Staff is friendly, the grounds are beautiful and it can be relaxing. The new bathrooms were nice. But the dressing room was small fornthe amount of guests at the time of our last visit. We went this past weekend and it was very crowded and hard for two of us to find a pool that we wouldn't be shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Empty cups and aluminum alcohol bottles floating in tubs. Kids were picking up cups discarded by adults, filling them with dirt and pouring them into the pools while parents partied. We moved a few times and it wasn't a singular occurrence. Many people mentioned they were overstaying their 2 hour pass because the was no way staff could identify them. I used work at a hostpring so I know how hard it is to enforce, but understand that it causes issues like we were seeing. Hot water was nice, but the overall experience could be better. Just dont expect it to be relaxing.

We could hear our neighbor on the phone quite well. Besides that the room is nice, it is walking distance to downtown, and has complimentary breakfast and happy hour drinks if desired. The happy hour drinks weren't amazing but they were free! Staff was friendly and helpful which is always a great plus!

Staff were extremely friendly and we were able to check in early. Our room was on the first floor right by the pool, hot tub & bar/breakfast area. Originally thought that was awesome so we didn't have to travel far. However, we soon realized how thin the walls were & how loud the pool area was. Not ideal but thankfully the pool closed at 9 p.m. Only time we had a problem was after hours neighbors being loud (thin walls) & morning time when breakfast was being served. Our room was decent size and well kept. Bed was comfy, bigger TV w/ direct TV, mini fridge, microwave, couch, office space & a walk in shower, coffee maker, ear plugs, soaps & lotion. The pool area & hot tub was well kept & clean. They had happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30 and offered free cocktails & draft beer for guests. Breakfast was great! I wish they had more healthier options but over all no complaints. The ladies kept all serving tins full & kept the area clean. Over all our stay was good with minor complaints. *side note- if you're coming on a holiday (like Thanksgiving) just be advised that mostly everything is closed!

It has a small bathroom with a small sink and a table with two chair chairs. The water pressure was great. The best part: it is so close to the main street of town so you can have your parking for free and easily stroll to the main parts of Durango where there are restaurants and stores and a great coffee shop. Also, it's a historical hotel that was built in 1898 and so it has a really incredible charm to it. The seating for breakfast and the lobby area are really beautiful. The thing to know: it is right next to the train station in Durango. So if you want to take the amazing train ride (and you should!) you can just walk right next to it and you have your free parking with the hotel room, which is awesome. BUT this also means that you hear the train constantly. It is very loud multiple times a day, early in the morning and in the evening. So just keep this in mind when you book this hotel. The breakfast: the breakfast the day we were there had eggs (watery scrambled) and sausage links and a waffle maker and toast and oatmeal and cereal and yogurt. All of it was the typical continental American breakfast. I really enjoyed the sausage links and the toast. The oatmeal was meh. The coffee was not good at all, but I did drink it haha. If you have time, go to the Durango coffee Company instead. They also have an assortment of teas and hot water. I would give the breakfast a 2-3/5. It seems like they could easily upgrade this breakfast and make it something really worth going to for the price of the hotel.

They do have a waffle maker, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a good hotel and a unique place to stay.
