I'm a long time gorge rat and have been to every shop in town--and shops that no longer exist. 2nd wind "talks the talk" and "walks the walk." They are experts in the equipment they sell otherwise they wouldn't sell it. I always feel comfortable with their recommendations and know that deep in their heart are doing the right things for their store, for the community, and for the environment. When the season is on, 2nd Wind always rises to the occasion with donations for all the competitions as well as taking part in them as competitors. You'll likely see the staff on your outings during the day and night. Here is the thing, second wind IS THE REAL DEAL! Knowledgeable staff, good prices, and good selection. To top it off, the owner is an absolute bad ass. The guy is out doing morning kite sessions before your even out of bed, doing insane down winders, and hitting the powder with a huge smile on his face. This is the best shop in Hood River. I am from CDA Idaho, and spend as much time in Hood River as possible. Their staff is amazing both in the shop and when you're out on the water or mountain. It's owner operated by a friendly local who is always willing to ride with you or help. Salesperson took the time to learn what difficulties I was having and instead of just selling me a different pair of skis, he offered information snd suggested I give a few refinements on my technique a try.
