I first walked into Pure Cycles a few months back to purchase a Thousand Helmet -as it was the only place in Burbank to not still be stuck in the 1950s. That's the thing with Burbank (I'm a born-raised Valley Boy) - who-tf is still wearing a full on train conductor outfit and buying train models like Arnold from Different Strokes? But then again, who still thinks going to a hookah bar is cool? This town apparently. Man, I miss when downtown Burbank had goth-bums hanging out in front of that one coffee shop with Alice in Wonderland painted all over the bathroom walls. I hate that stupid painting of Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan (or is it Jim Morrison and his girlfriend Pamela?) on San Fernando Blvd. down the block from that storyplace pub. As a teen, I listened to music from Manchester - cos Richard Blade (K-R-O-Q: first in Pasadena before Burbank) was spinning just great sounds, right; then Nirvana shows up -which was cool; until corp-USA missed the point entirely and started giving us Alice in Chains - worst band ever! Seriously, quit thinking they're a good band! Then, making things worst, GenX teens who thought Grunge was an off shoot of Classic Rock (nope); started this goddam Doors revival bullsh*. Leave that to your mom, man, we got our own sound! I understood Rodney "On the Rock" Bigenheimer when he sang "I hate the 90s!" Although today I totally miss them days. Honestly. Oh yah, Pure Cycles. Yah, so what I truly dig about these guys - they don't try to sell me sh* I don't need. You see, I got this Cannonball or Cannondale (?) bicycle to ride around Forest Lawn Drive up to Mineral Wells - and I want to wear one of 'em full on psycho...err...cycle outfits like the guys racing PeeWee Herman in the opening of that '85 classic movie - (filmed in Burbank, btw, cos the director was one of 'em goth-bums from Burbank). Anyhow, they're like, "no, dude, you don't need all that...just ride." So yah, if you need true guidance from a group of men who know cycling -and not trying to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need (however, I do recommend you buy one of their riding-caps) - drive up the same street Marty McFly skate-boarded when he yelled out, "I'm late for school!" -cos these gents are just up the block from Doc's house on Victory Blvd. Alice in Chains sucks; turn up The Style Council (Paul Weller, The Jam; good stuff!) instead - those dudes have a cool video of themselves cycling called My Ever Changing Moods. I'll review the product, not the retail location, which now seems to be closed. Bought a new Pure Cycle Fixie from my local bike shop. Loved it. Loved the simplicity & the gear ratio. Perfect for my exercise needs. Loved it so much I bought a second one for a vacation home. The second Pure Cycle Fixie was defective. Made a lot of random noise. Took it back to the shop. They spent a lot of time on it--spokes were loose & one was stripped. They also readjusted the chain. Bike still noisy. Took it in again. Mechanic said spokes were loose & made other adjustments. His colleague test rode it out the shop door to show me that they'd fixed the problem. Clunk, snap, snap, clunk--audible over busy traffic & from 40 feet away. Shop explained that the wheel manufacturing at Pure was automated & they sometimes don't get it right. Shop offered another round with the mechanic. I just returned the bike. Got my money back, but a huge disappointment & waste of time. read more

I am visiting CA and had to come see where my bike was made. The staff was super friendly and helpful on helping me find everything I was looking for. Trace (I hope I spelled it right) helped me find my shirts and rim tape. He answered all my questions about frame sizes and even told me they could have my bike shipped locally so I could try it out. Pure Cycles is an experience. The shop is very well stocked with bikes and gear needed to maintain and personalize these stylish bikes. I just rode a brand new Pure Cycles Road bike, from Santa Cruz to San Luis Obispo, I only switched the pedals and seat. It road beautifully, I never had to change a tire or adjust anything more than my seat height. A solid bike that I've styled with the PDW copper bird cages I also got at Pure Cycles. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, they make the valley visit worthwhile :) The road bike is highly recommended, easy to shift and easy to personalize. I've had two pure cycle bikes (a fixie and a roadbike) and while I was pretty happy with the brand until now, my recent repair experience has changed my mind completely. My bike has been in the shop for 5 weeks over a broken crank. The whole thing has been a nightmare. First the store couldn't get a hold of pure cycles to ask for a replacement crank. After they finally got a hold of them and managed to order the part, Pure Cycles sent the wrong one. Now it's been two weeks since they realized this and pure still hasn't sent the right part. I still don't have my bike. I was a big fan of the brand until now, but I will not be buying another pure cycle bike. I don't trust that if my bike ever breaks it can be repaired promptly. read more

If possible, I'd give zero stars for how Pure Cycles has handed their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. I backed Pure Cycles' "Capacita" electric bike campaign in September 2018. The last update to the 78 backers was in April 2019. Pure Cycles has used the Indiegogo platform to defraud the backers of this campaign. The cherry on top of this fraud sundae is the complete lack of communication & utter disregard for the backers of the "Capacita" project. The only "capacity" Pure Cycles has demonstrated to me is the ability to take my money & deliver nothing, not even an update in 10 months. read more

Just picked up a new road bike from these guys, and the entire experience was great. I called before I went in, and found out that they didn't have one of the bikes I was interested in ready for a test ride in my size, but they immediately offered to build one up. They called the next day to let me know it was ready to roll. I'm not super knowledgeable about bike stuff, and they were incredibly patient and helpful, answering all of my dumb questions and making sure I left with a bike that would work for me. The bike itself is awesome, especially for the price. I'm not trying to enter any races, or set any lap records, I just wanted something that would be fun to ride around town, and I'm super psyched with the road bike I ended up getting. They where nice and gave a little discount for the floor model along with a water bottle and pull string bag. Goose Review sticks out my tongue on this place. Yechhh. Pew. First I could not even find the store. It is hidden in an industrial space down a driveway and I spent five minutes looking for them and asking around. When I finally found it, I see the proprietor huffing smoke right in front of the door. I brought my list of bike things I needed. They had absolutely nothing. No parts whatsoever. It all started by looking up bikes at a different bike shop online. I came across the Pure Fix Cruiser and the simple style and color schemes really caught my eye. That lead me to searching Pure Fix Cycles on Google and browsing the main site, still very fixed on that cruiser. Being a fixie rider, I was skeptical of how it rides and what not. I noticed that there was a location of a shop and, lo and behold, it was right near my house. So I decided to make the ride from work to the shop. Upon arrival, it was secluded but at the same time unique. Gave me a secret, clubhouse feel, getaway for bikers. I was greeted by someone who worked there (didn't get his name) and was taken to the showroom. As soon as I entered I saw the bike I've been eyeing all day. I felt like a kid walking in a candy store a little when I spotted the bike and took in all the surroundings. The man who was helping me was very patient and informative with all my questions and concerns. I test rode the cruiser and it was a smooth ride. Unfortunately, I didn't make the purchase. This bike's price tag is perfect for a spur of the moment buy.. but after testing it I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave the aggressive riding style. So instead I purchased some pursuit bars and bar tape. Perfect addition to my Aventon Mataro Low. I will definitely be back to check out what else they have to offer, to swap out some parts and maybe get some maintenance done. Thanks for the awesome experience! read more

Pure Cycles is Awesome. We found Pure Cycles online and decided to drive to their store with the family. The store is very cool and stylish. Has a huge selection and very friendly staff. We bought bikes for our daughters (7 and 10 year old) and two adult bike for us + 4 very cool helmets and a pump. They went above and beyond to make sure the girls were happy with the choice of their bikes. Michael taught my 10 year old daughter how to ride her in 15 minutes on the same day we bought the bikes. I ventured into Pure Cycles to check out their latest road bikes and walked out with an armful of goods to deck out my commute. They have a showroom area with items on display plus free coffee and a sick arcade game free to play! The staff was mad chill and helped me find exactly what I was looking for with handlebar tape, an ass saver fender, and bike tubes. While I wasn't looking to buy Levi's commuter jeans they had them on discount and were exactly what my blown out commuter shorts needed! I was so stoked on the shorts I bought an additional pair of black pants that have a lot of stretch, high-waist, reflective seams, and deep pockets for a u-lock. Last but definitely not least, I picked up my road bike Veleta fully assembled and have been enjoying the steel stiffness plus rack mounts for my daily commuting. I get several compliments for it's low-key profile and vintage look. I have the Pure Keirin track bike for flat ground but this Veleta is my everyday go-to fave!! read more

The store is nice, bicycles look fancy. Still, there is MASSIVE room for improvement in the appointment system. I emailed them in the morning to book an appointment to see fixies or flat handled road bike, in size 56 or L: all items that seemed in stock online. It took me one hour to get there, to discover they had been "wiped out on Black Friday": they had only the road-bike, in one color, for my size. And no fixie. Anything else had to be ordered, or I could have come back in two-three weeks: I would have really appreciated them telling me so before I came. I was clearly eager to get a bike, and I kept asking the salesperson "what about this one?" "and this one?", but he didn't seem to acknowledge my urgency, for instance not making any effort to try and persuade me to test drive some other more expensive models, which could have ended up in a heftier expense accompanied by a better customer experience. read more

I walked in and tried to explain what I was looking and what I liked to ride and and right away Eric was able to step me through available options and point me in the right direction. They also have demo bikes in all sizes, so if you're unsure what size frame you want you can rip around their sizable parking lot and find one that feels right for you. If you are in the market for accouterments - helmets, locks, socks, foot straps, literal bells and literal whistles - they've got tons of that stuff too.
