So disappointing :-( we've been waiting for an awesome salad and juice place to open in Brookline but this pretty much misses every single mark. It's a confusing space and setup. There is a tiny salad bar for you to construct your own salads, pre-made options behind the counter and really tart and gingery juices in the refrigerated cooler. I don't like sweet juices at all (and love all green juices with no fruit) but these just don't taste very good -- especially for the price. The salads were ok but kind of tasted like the Whole Foods bar where everything tastes the same with too much sauce and garlic. We've been twice and probably won't go back unless something changes. I go to the gym across the street and was super excited to have this as a quick lunch or dinner option but it needs to make some drastic changes. Hey ownership - go down to Sweetgreens and see how they make awesome fresh salads and replicate their system! They are always jam packed and Coolidge Corner needs something like that! And spend some time figuring out your juice recipes because they are way more expensive and definitely not as good as all the other juice places here and in NYC. I've been waiting for this place to open up for months, after hearing about it at Rami's. When you walk in, there is a fridge full of cold pressed juice on the right, near the register, and then a long selection of prepared salads and sandwiches behind the counter. There is also an option to make your own salad, with a separate veggie bar to the back left of Cold Press. While there, I tried both the Orange/lemon/ginger juice and the watermelon/lemon juice. I think Cold Press should definitely lay off the lemon! Both juices were unpleasantly tart and off-balanced (and will probably give me heartburn later...) I also tried a scoop of the Greek salad and a scoop of the avocado/tomato/corn salad. Both were fine, but the Greek salad is very non traditional (it did not have a discernible dressing and had bits of pesto on it). All in all I would much rather support a local business than Whole Foods, but I think the success of Cold Press really relies on changing several things. The menu is very confusing, and I would list options for smoothies, sandwiches, and salads in a very obvious place, instead of just having generalized prices on the wall. I would also make sure the salads are well dressed and the juices are well-balanced, especially given that sugar concentration in fruit really varies from fruit to fruit, so it's vital to taste everything and not just batch recipes. Let me just tell you my first impression of this place was awful. I had visited Pure Cold Press once last summer right when it opened. It was pretty empty. I went in around 4pm and was hoping to get some green juice. It was the employee's first day at work and the manager had gone out to eat or something. He had no training and when I asked for a simple green juice, he said he didn't know how to make anything on the menu. I had to wait 10 minutes for the manager to come back and the manager wasn't even nice. So that was my first encounter with this place. I decided to give this place one more try after reading the positive yelp reviews. I went in today during lunch time and the place was packed! I ordered the green street sandwich and the acai berry bowl. Both were delicious and I didn't feel bloated at all after finishing the HUGE bowl and sandwich. The green street sandwich was savory and it just melts in your mouth! No complaints. However, the acai bowl (while aesthetically pleasing) was too watery for my taste. The ingredients were great, but I wish they added less liquid and made it taste more like ice cream rather than juice. The interior is super clean and nice. It still bothers me that they don't have a legitimate store sign after a year of opening, but that's just me. Service was great this time. The person who took my order seemed to be the owner and he was extremely friendly. Only negative things to say are the watery acai bowl and a bit pricey menu. Pretty bad experience. I ordered an Acai bowl and it came watered down yet somehow filled with chunks of frozen acai. Basically, they take frozen packages of acai and attempt to quickly thaw it while blending it with other fruit. The result is frozen chunks of acai in a bowl of purple water. It was also sprinkled with some granola and a few chunks of pears. Would have been nice to get some bananas, strawberries, blueberries, etc that I'd expect from having this in many other places. Keep in mind this costs almost $10. Lessons learned though: take the trip into the city and go to some place like Jugos that makes their menu fresh to order. read more

I like cold press / juiceries / acai bowl places. I do, and I am willing to pay the premium for "healthy." I was a little excited to try this new establishment, but unfortunately like many of the other reviewers, I thought it was disappointing. Let's start with the positives! This place is fairly new in Brookline. It's big and spacious (albiet a little too much space) and clean. This is a novel concept in Boston (move over lobster rolls and chowder!) and there hasn't really been that many places like it in the city. It's appropriately in the lively Brookline neighborhood, where "healthy" is trendy. I wanted to check Pure out last week because I've been eating like a fatty and I needed something that was nice and refreshing. I got the acai bowl (slightly under $10). After a long, long wait, I finally got my bowl ,or should I say, puddle of an acai bowl. The ingredients were pretty simple with the classic blueberries, some nuts, honey, coconut (interesting), and no bananas. Ok they weren't the best combination of things to put in an acai bowl, but the worst part was the acai smoothie part - it was watered down (like juice with clumps of ice in it) and tasted bland. What was a good idea was actually an expensive, watered down smoothie in a bowl. I think it has good potential, but based on all of the reviews here, it needs a lot of adjusting and work to be done. read more

The juice I ordered was delicious. Me and my friend were there at 930am on Sunday and only one other table (with food) was there. I ordered food and waited at least 20 minutes. With no one there! Reminded owner and then took another 5 minutes. Sandwich was missing ingredient then. But was fine. I loved the items on menu, wanted to try more but the wait is crazy. And the owner didn't have enough cash change due my friend, who had to remind him about it later. Not great experience, cute decor. Maybe try take it next time? I walked into this place out of curiosity. I think it caters to a certain lifestyle (obviously...). The woman ahead of me ordered something where literally she took offense, had food intolerance, moral intolerance or some issue with everything. I ordered some blended juice where they blended 4 pieces of veggies and fruits together and charged me like 9 bucks. It tasted ok, but I think I can do this on my own with my vitamix... if I wasn't so lazy. The prices for cold press are fitting for liquid gold. I guess the deal is that you have to press like tons of vegetables to get a tiny bit of juice from them. That's great, but maybe that's a sign that those poor vegetables shouldn't be crushed by the metric ton in the first place. Honestly pretty awful. this place isn't even close to matching juice chains such as juice gen and pressed juicery or healthy food establishments like dig inn and sweet green. It's so overpriced for the quality of the food too I've never gotten anything I've enjoyed and I've tried this place quite a few times each time hoping it'll be better than the last (it's so close to home-- just a block away!). The acai bowl was particularly disappointing. I've never had an acai bowl I didn't like until I came here. Just didn't have the right flavor and the person who made my bowl gave me a much smaller portion than the person after me. Just stumbled on Cold Press as we were doing some shopping in the area. I would definitely recommend grabbing one of there Cold Pressed Juices. I tried "Blue Dream" on a recommendation and I'm glad I did, wow what a delicious cold pressed juice. I even paid for a less inexpensive bottle "NRG" ($7.99) and the owner swapped me out for free to the "Blue Dream" ($9.99) because he was looking to satisfy the customer. The vegetarian options for food made my wife's mouth water. She ordered the Red Lentil and Cauliflower soup and slurped it down within seconds, and enjoyed a Hot Coco to go. Got the orchard Salad. It's a simple salad with a total of FIVE INGREDIENTS but they forgot to add the pecans which is one of them. $11 for a salad like this one and then they miss out an ingredient. Forget that 12 hour energy junk...Pure Cild Press is the Real Deal. It is literally the best thing that I put in my body everyday. I can't even remember my life before PCP was in Coolidge Corner. I'm a frequent juice drinker and I'm not a big fan of this place. I ordered wheatgrass shots and it tasted like water. (Light green, no aftertaste or anything like a traditional wheatgrass shot.) I'm convinced that the juices have added water in it. Haven't tried the food, but I'm just not a fan of the drinks at all. Life Alive in Cambridge definitely has the best juices. Also, I asked for wheatgrass on the side for one of my drinks and I was given a look like it's not possible. Usually all juice bars ask that as a preliminary question when ordering a drink with wheatgrass in it. That's definitely sketchy. First of all this restaurant will help fill a tremendously vacant niche in Coolidge Corner, plentiful non-meat-centric fare with an emphasis on healthy eating and community. Being kosher in a heavily Jewish-trafficked area won't hurt business either. It seems Sunday 6/14 was their first day they were open for business and I had heard of it and wandered in. The previous reviewer may be accurate but things tend to need to be excused the first day a business is open, they are getting their bearings and the little kinks in service will most likely be ironed out soon. I had a full plate of three salad offerings, the beet salad, a pasta salad that had cauliflower in it, and a sort of pea-in-a-pod salad mixed with some other greens. This healthy, nutritious serving set me back less than $9 which is great. The fact that they haven't got cards indicating the names and ingredients of each salad doesn't bother me as I am sure this will come. I also had a full bowl of the chickpea soup (there were three vegetarian soup offerings) that was hearty but overpowered by a spice that tasted like salt but wasn't. The decor is clean and spacious and well lit. It seems given to socializing and fraternizing. I would have appreciated a free water cooler where I could have cleansed my palate from the spiciness of the soup. The juice drinks I am sure are awesome, $9.50 a bottle might work well on Madison Avenue but I am not sure the clientele of Brookline will easily support this endeavor. I really want to give them five stars but won't at this time cause I know they will improve and iron out the kinks. For me this place is a godsend as this is the type of food humans thrive on and I wish them every success in keeping this restaurant open for ages to come. I have been wanting to try this place for the longest time. The hours here are so weird and inconsistent. I walked in and the environment is cute, clean, and super fresh. The menu looked great including the salads, but I deceived to go with the acai bowl. It was consistently busy and a little understaffed, the guy behind the counter was really nice and I think he was aware of the situation. The girl in front of me tried ordering a soup sandwich..... mmmm everyone looked at her weird, pretty sure that was not on the menu. The acai bowl was really good, I was bummed there were raisins in the bowl, because I absolutely hate raisins, there was not mention of this on the ingredients. I may come again and try a salad, but again the hours are so inconsistent and out of whack it is pretty hard, I tried going in one day at 2:30PM (shows it closed at 3:00PM) and they were closed. They also don't open until later on in the morning/day which is weird, most people want to start the day with a smoothie or healthy snack. read more

Since I wrote my first review just a month ago, I've fallen in love with Pure Cold Press. Their custom salads are pricey - at least 10 dollars - but worth every penny. The ingredients are fresh, creative and delicious. Options include less common items such as lentils, cauliflower, black sesame seeds, pickled onions... I could go on and on. The many salad dressings are also very unique and you can opt for fresh squeezed lemon juice for a lighter salad. Plus, the portion sizes are generous - they really pack the greens into those containers. This is my go-to for a pre or post-workout meal now. The service has also significantly improved - it seems like they have more staff and it's paying off. The place is often packed, (awesome to see), and they keep the line moving along with fast yet friendly service. My only remaining suggestion is that they offer salads in real dishes in order to reduce the waste. I saw that they were serving food on plates - why not salads too? read more

This restaurant has excellent ambiance, especially when it's sunny. The live music added delight to the relaxed and bright vibe. The stars are for supporting live music and providing good ambiance to the neighborhood. The food was expensive, flavorless, and uncreative. We ordered a beet arugula sandwich that was literally a sliced beet and arugula on sliced bread. The Asian salad was made with what looked like old romaine lettuce (however it's possible it was just oxidized). The salad also lacked flavor and was $10, which seems overpriced for what it is. The sandwich was also $9 and should have cost a few dollars less considering how bland and plain it was. Also, our table was dirty. We asked them to clean it and they didn't. I haven't tried the juices and therefore can't speak to them. The juice menu looks good. This place has a lot of potential and I hope it improves. It will be a fabulous addition to Coolidge Corner if the quality of the food and service improves. There's really nothing like it in the neighborhood as far as health food goes. read more

This is a great looking place in Brookline, but also felt like it was one of those shops that looks and feels much better than the food it serves. The atmosphere is good and relaxing. The juices were ok. The food, to be honest, I can't remember. It must not have been all that great. I do remember that they ran out of avocado. We also ordered an acai bowl, which was pretty good for an east coast one. Sorry, west coast does them much better :P I think it has good potential to improve quality. VERY inconsiderate in regards to allergies. The owner does not use gloves and his employees do not change gloves when making the food. I told them upon ordering that I had an allergy that causes anaphylaxis and the the employee making my food had touched the allergen prior to making my order, then didn't change his gloves, and then proceeded to touch food I was supposed to eat with contaminated gloves. I told the owner what I just witnessed and both of them were extremely disrespectful and treated me like my allergy was fake. Save yourself a trip and sickness. Stay away. read more

I work nearby so this is my go to healthy lunch spot. Although I understand other customers reviews about lost orders or it being quite pricey, I have to give it 5 stars since I frequent it so much. Its the only spot in the neighborhood to get a healthy salad or good soup! They have a lot of options of salads, soups, and sandwiches! I've gotten a couple smoothies and juices too which were good.
