I'm updating my review to give a more accurate explanation of my experience at Pure Body. This is the worst Pilates studio I've been to and not a good use of my money or time. I was treated rudely and with disrespect. Several people came across as arrogant. Prior to taking any sessions, I carefully described all of my injuries. I'm a 40+ year old former athlete with arthritic joints. Even after explaining my injuries, the instructor, who is also part owner, pressured me into going harder on exercises than what was suitable for me. I ultimately injured my right shoulder, and couldn't life my arm. During class the instructor was very rude. I sought medical treatment with my chiropractor, and when my symptoms did not improve I had an MRI and eventually saw my orthopedic surgeon. I was in physical therapy for 5 weeks. I also called the studio after my injury to let them know what happened. Because I had pre-paid my sessions, I was unsure if I could easily get my money back, since they were giving me a vibe as if they do not give refunds for any reason. But I think in some cases, you should issue refunds for unused money, because not every studio is a good fit for every person. I felt like I was being looked down upon. There does not seem to be clear policies in place in the event something happens, such as an injury. I was treated horribly. They are not physical therapists and are not qualified to diagnose injuries. The liability waiver excludes them from all liability if you become injured. This means that if a customer does not want to do business with you, either because they do not feel as though you are competent enough to help their specific needs, or they simply do not want to risk further injury they need to be able to end the business relationship. It is a customer's decision if they want to continue doing business with them, even if they pre-paid, especially if something bad happens. They eventually refunded me money, but I had to go back and forth for over a week, which was stressful. I think that they thought I was being dishonest. This was insulting. I've found a new studio. I'll never be back. read more

So signing up was pretty easy. They kept calling and calling to get you signed up. Unfortunately, after I signed up, within the first 3 days of my first month, I've already determined that their schedule won't work with mine. They said sign up early for classes but I wanted to make sure I wouldn't just end up cancelling on them every time work ran over. I originally got the new client special for $289. When I informed them that it wasn't working out, They told me they were going to refund the money. Great, right? They returned $145. (So thanks!) prior to them refunding me the money, I tried to contact someone to ask something but no one really called me back. So that wasn't great. I mean... $140 for 3 days of not signing up for classes because it didn't fit my schedule? That's pretty steep. Mind you, I haven't been inside of the location or even gone to a class because their last class starts at 6:30p and their afternoon classes don't start until 5:30p. Their early morning classes begin at 8:30am when you've already gone to work. Spots are very LIMITED. When I tried signing up for the time that worked with my schedule, there was almost always a waitlist. Just saying. It's a PRICEY lesson to learn. If you live or work near them and you're out of work by 6p, this might work out for you. UPSIDE: I found a location that works out better for me. read more

I have been going to Pure Body for 4 months now and just love it! I started going there for my back and find that I am stronger all over. I love the variety of classes and most enjoy Reformer Jump and Chair classes. The teachers are great and know their stuff. The facility is spotless and the staff is professional and friendly. For someone that likes variety and challenging workouts this is it! This studio also offers Yamuna Body Rolling twice a month and is a great class for deep tissue massages that you can do yourself. read more

This is a fantastic studio for pilates! It is extremely huge, spacious and always spotlessly clean-- perfect for today's environment. When I'm there, I am never near anyone else, and almost always in a different space as well. I take private lessons from Kari and she's fantastic. She tailors class for me, and all my sessions are always different and challenging. I usually want in each session to work on a few different areas, and she always has a new or creative way for working them in. As well, we rarely ever repeat the same exact exercises, she has so many ways of doing different total workouts!! read more

Meh. I've experience better. (And sorry for breaking the streak of 4 & 5 star reviews.) So, I am still searching for a studio that can give me an ass-kickin' work out in Houston. I decided to check out Pure Body because it's 5 minutes away from my house, had great reviews on Yelp, and promising website. I feel bad for giving them 2 stars because the studio is very clean and the girls who work there are extremely sweet. But, I want to give my honest opinion about their mat classes. I bought a 10-class mat series and didn't even end up going to the last one. Maybe reformer classes are better, but they are hella expensive. The first BIG downside is that you have attend an orientation class and they charge you $35. That is pretty ridiculous for a class where you just sit around and talk. The instructor shows you a couple of moves and explains the "Pure Body method". Yeah, it's good in theory but really you can just adjust their positioning during class. I much rather prefer that or even ask new clients to come 15 mins early so you can show them the studio, ask about injuiries, etc. At least that's what all the other studios do. Another huge downside is that I did not sweat one single drop nor did I feel like I worked out. We would do movements on the mats like swinging your legs in circles. The instructors didn't really correct your form if you were doing it wrong. I wish we could have used weights, balls, and other equipment. I think I've used the foam rollers (should be used for stretching) and the rings (to work inner and outer thighs), but it was rare to even touch them. I also wish they had music for each classroom, which are divided by curtains. Yeah, you might have heard the music from the reformer class while you were in a mat class, but that was much better than listening to low volume Pandora that was for all the classes. I want to find a studio that makes me want to work out rather than sleep an extra 2 hours on the weekend. I want to feel sore the next day. I want to SWEAT during class. Unfortunately, Pure Body did not do any of those three for me. read more

Really! An "orientation" class? Ridiculous. I have many years experience practicing Pilates and when I wanted to try a new place Near home, Pure Body insisted that I take an orientation class. I explained to the recieptionist that I have many years experience and her response was that they do it due to the referral program they have with a near by PT and that they also show you the building and different positions..well I get that your trying to keep business flowing, but don't put a hamper on other people who just want to practice Pilates near home. A tour of the building is not necessary, it's not the Taj Mahal! I'm so disappointed with this "orientation " class...guess I'll go to define or other places that don't require it. read more

I really enjoy my training sessions with Jermaine. I have never tried Pilates and I am amazed how challenging it can be.

Having never done Pilates, I was intimidated to try it. But this small class, intimate, personal setting really made me feel comfortable and supported! They take their cleanliness seriously during this time, and masks are required while working out. But seriously, it's not difficult to breathe at all. The instructors are patient, clear with their prompts, and the studio offers a bunch of different class types, even TRX! Perfect place to try if you're a newbie, or to perfect your technique as an experienced client. Couldn't love this place any more! read more

I absolutely love Pure Body Studio, the facility is clean and the people are very friendly and helpful. The Aura of the facility is very peaceful and the equipment is like new as well. I haven't tried any of the Reformer classes yet, but the mat classes are terrific. The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful and are quick to correct form and offer alternative moves. Each class is different so you won't get bored. It's a great workout and lots of fun! read more

Never got a chance to try this place. I was visiting from out of town. Found the website and thought it looked like a perfect for me to try. I was only going to be in town for three days I found one class each one of those days that I would like to attend. When I called I was told that I would have to take an orientation for each of those classes before I could actually take a class. I've been doing Pilates for over six years it would have a problem with anything they would present. They lost a customer who in the future will find a different place to go to because of this lame policy they have I was willing to sign a waiver not hold them responsible for anything. There is no way I would've needed any sort of orientation. read more

Warm and welcoming are best words to describe Pure. I've done everything from running to cross-training to CrossFit and I honestly think I'm in better shape now. My core is stronger than ever and the injuries are gone. Each teacher truly cares and is careful always in remembering who might have a neck issue or some such sort. They are very careful with your body while they help you shape it at your own pace and fitness level. I've taken I think every class there now and each one has worked something I didn't know I had! I've dabbled in Pilates off and on for years but this is best studio I've ever been to. read more

I feel compelled to write after reading some of the other reviews as this studio is always crowded with a wait list for many classes so they are doing something right .I am new to Pilates and have been to 3 classes (Reformer & Mat)so far and I have been very impressed with the facility and teachers -the space is clean and their staff is very welcoming. Instructors are eager to ensure proper technique,knowledgeable, professional and willing to answer any questions for beginners like me. Classes are easy to sign up online including a wait list . The Pilates classes are a great supplement to other exercises I do such as biking,swimming ,weights and yoga and is perfect for building core and lower back strength as I age-By the way, men are welcome here although in the minority read more

I live in the Heights and many of the pilates businesses are offering non traditional Pilates classes. I tried several but prefer the more classical style. Pure Body Studio offers the classical style of Pilates in a very supportive environment. All three instructors that I have encountered were very professional and excellent. The small classes allow the instructors to correct the form of each student. I would highly recommend this studio! read more

I have been going to Pure Body Studio for over 2 years. While I am not the most consistent client I am always welcomed in the door by a staff that greets me by my name. I love the pilates mat class and when I am consistent, I can see and feel the difference in my body. There are classes you can really break a sweat if thats your goal like reformer jump or TRX but I love barre as well as mat pilates. Although this is far from my house, I decided to give the place a try because they had offered a Groupon deal some time back. The studio is very small, and they keep their classes small, so personal attention is possible. If anonymity in workout classes are more your thing, this place may not be for you, but I appreciate the closer instruction. The studio is clean and cozy--some may think it's too cozy, as a matter of fact. The first time I came here for a Pilates class, there was a one-on-one class going on right next to us--no wall or curtain or sound barrier to separate the two classes, so it was distracting to try to pay attention to your own instructor while another class is going on literally a few feet away. I guess that's the sacrifice you make for a studio that's small and offers one-on-one lessons. I've tried the Mat & Pilates class and the Mat & Props class, and both are very challenging, leaving me sore for the next day or two. You can take it to whatever level you'd like. They offer ballet barre workouts, and after Black Swan, I'm sure this is the "in" thing. (Just don't turn psycho on your classmates.) read more
