I am a seasoned octogenarian who was not in good condition. Luckily I found Ashley and PBG. Not enough room to extol all the virtues. I enrolled almost 3 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Classes allow you to mix and match level of intensity, stretch vs greater intensity to a pretty intense class. All are easy on my knees. Modifications suggested by teachers based on your ability. The studio is run sooo well. Clean, prompt, friendly. I've made a number of new and very significant friends and co-PBG mates who are great and very supportive while encouraging attendance. I saw a few complaints about business practices. That's not Ashley. This is a franchise and all practices are designed and enforced by corporate. This is a review for Pure Barre Greenwich which moved to Stamford, CT, from what I understand from an email sent to clients recently. I do not recommend Pure Barre - save your money and go elsewhere. Long story short: I was supposed to begin classes in January with a package I bought in December for the new year. Unfortunately, I have had a medical condition since mid-January and I'm under the care of two doctors. With my condition, I'm not able to take classes nor exercise. I explained this to PB in texts, emails and voicemails. I also sent proof/paperwork from my doctor. Additionally, PB Greenwich moved location in the last couple of months, from Greenwich to Stamford, which is very, very far from where I live; I can not go to Stamford for classes a couple times a week even if I didn't have the medical condition. PB Greenwich sent an email to clients saying they would refund their money due to the move and yet I've gotten nothing - despite my medical issues AND their location change. Ashley, the owner at Greenwich PB, has not given me the requested refund she said she'd give me ("check in the mail" she said in a text two weeks ago but no check has arrived). From all the information and communications I've sent to PB multiple times for over 3 months, she has only responded to me a couple times and that was only after I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau a couple weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my refund; I've been ignored and I'm being given the run around. I believe they keep track of the phone numbers too, and won't answer if they want to avoid speaking to a customer (I heard this from another client, too). PB corporate will not help - they direct customers to the local franchise owner. Buyer BEWARE - this is not a trustworthy or pro-client company. They have taken my money and run. I'm still hoping Ashley will do the right thing and send me the refund. read more

Beware of signing promotionals - you will be held to this contract irregardless of your health, well being Drs notes etc. It will be put on a freeze but you will be accountable and harassed indefinitely. Seeing as many pregnant woman attend I would expect better business. I've managed an emergency C section among other complications. ***If you think you may be pregnant just do yourself a favor and pay per class until you can't or just don't want to anymore and come back if and when you're ready. Society will already be pressuring your "snap back" enough - save yourself this stress.**** I've been to Pure Barre Westport and Pure Barre Mt Kisco, both with less than welcoming experiences. I was relieved to find my new neighborhood Pure Barre had a friendly environment. This is surface level - if you are unable to tuck be ready to shell out 160+ for the rest of your contract. Part 2! Well Ashley, I wasn't confused. You had certain information on your website that was obviously outdated, and it is in no universe mine (or any other customer's fault) if YOU did not update YOUR website to provide the CORRECT information. Nope. That's YOUR FAULT. Most definitely YOUR confusion. After several back and forth exchanges with Ashley informing me that I could pay for the class, and me repeating what her website said, Ashley still wouldn't budge. Flash forward a bit. I was angry, disappointed, and embarrassed to be having this conversation around a ton of other people. I said something to the effect, "You mean you won't honor what's on your website?" Her response was that she wouldn't. I responded by informing her that what she was doing was bad business. To which she then said that she'd let me take the class for one of my Groupon classes... At this point I was uncomfortable. I wanted out of the studio as fast as possible. For such an expensive product, Ashley should know that she should be making people feel welcome and invited and not turning them off and away by defending her mistakes instead of using the opportunity to turn it into a positive (that's what they call a growing opportunity in kindergarten, right?). I told her I just wanted my check, and I left. I immediately called Groupon (got a refund for both myself and my boyfriend) and reported the studio for the deceptive practice. Although Ashley was not trying to be deceptive with the outdated information, the fact that she didn't make good on it in some way was deceptive and arguably a bait and switch. They got me in under one pretense and then tried to back me into a corner to do something else. Ashley, here's a lesson for you in how things should have gone down. Two initial ideas: 1. You could have said you were sorry that the website wasn't updated and informed me that the charity event was in June. You could have then said that you'd gladly donate my check and just let me know that in the future the classes cost $X, but you'd love for me to join and hope that if I like this intensive I'd sign up for your deal of 3 intensives for $Y. 2. You could have said that the website was wrong and needed to be updated, and then you could have immediately offered to use a Groupon in place of the $35 fee. Your failure to both recognize that YOU were the problem and then turning around and BLAMING me, your customer, is absurd. After this ridiculous occurrence, I drove 30+ minutes home (in traffic), and immediately took a screenshot of Pure Barre Greenwich's website. I got home just in time to capture the original schedule and description as I saw it at 4pm. I'm uploading a screenshot that includes the schedule from today along with the pop-up on the charity intensive. You'll also notice the date and time in the top right corner. Within six minutes of my taking the initial screenshot the website was updated (I guess you had the wrong information up there, huh Ashley?), and that screenshot (also with the date and time for comparison) is uploaded. I am not only be leaving a Yelp review, but I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. Additionally, I have contacted Pure Barre Headquarters to inform them of the type of practice associated with their brand at the Greenwich location. Although it's a franchise, I'm sure they will be interested to know how their brand is being represented. Ashley may be good at tucking and pulsing, but she needs an INTENSIVE (probably longer than 75 minutes) on good business practices. Perhaps she should stick to the former. read more

First a couple of confessions. I am old -- really old -- but I think I am 18! Secondly, when I found Pure Barre, I was looking for a Barre Method. But today I am so glad I found Pure Barre. When you are really old and not in the best of shape (although I have always been athletic) it can be intimidating and depressing to show up at a studio filled with young people who look like goddesses, but from the very first class I felt welcomed and more importantly the instructors didn't think I was nuts. Barre is hard, very confusing at first and so fast, but good news, just about the time, I am ready to give up the class is over. The instructors make it all possible. They never let you doubt you can do it and improve. Since I started in October, going six days a week, I have lost ten pounds, but more importantly, I am seeing real results which keep me going. Ashley, the owner, runs a terrific studio with all kinds of thoughtful touches, like a charging station and a great selection of clothes and the ever-critical socks. Ashley heads up a group of instructors about whom I can't say enough. My daughter who turned me on to Barre in DC plans her workouts around specific teachers she likes, avoiding those she doesn't like as much. At Pure Barre Greenwich, the instructors are all equally good, each with differences, but never a disappointment. I give Pure Baree five stars and urge anyone in the Greenwich area to give it a try. I would recommend that you take a few classes back to back to get the hang of the system which will help you get into the groove and keep you from feeling overwhelmed. read more

Pure Barre on Railroad Ave in Greenwich was NOT a pleasant experience for me. 1.) Owner Ashley, ALWAYS pushing to sell more class packages and apparel, a turn off. If I want to buy, I buy because I choose to, not because of an aggressive sales pitch. 2.)Owner Ashley publicly chided me when I mistakenly placed the equipment back to it's place in an imperfect fashion. 3.)Music way too loud, cannot hear instructors' cues. 4.)I've found another place with softer music, I can hear cues, the routines work better for me and I'm treated with respect. read more

I am obsessed with pure barre. I'm always sad when work gets in the way with me taking a class. Otherwise, I go around 4/5 times a week. Everyone there is super kind and polite! All the instructors are amazing. I've been going for over 6 months now. Every class is so different, so I promise you will not get bored. I can't say anything negative about this place. I'd also like to add that I'm not someone who enjoys working out but pure barre definitely changed my mindset. It's nice to leave social media/ emails/ work behind and workout for an hour without interruptions. I actually think it helps me with my anxiety. Finally, I do suffer from back and shoulder pain. The best part is that Pure Barre has so many modifications available for each movement. So I'm never in pain and I'm still able to get a full body workout! read more

I became a member of Pure Barre Greenwich a few months ago and I could not be more pleased with my decision! There is just no comparing this studio to any other. Pure Barre is an excellent, strengthening workout and this location is fantastic. The owner Ashley is extremely friendly, helpful, and passionate about Pure Barre, her studio and the experience for everyone. The instructors are very personable and enthusiastic, and the entire staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. If you are new, I would 100% recommend signing up for a trial month in order to give yourself a change to learn the routines. Even after that, you will feel stronger while continuing to be challenged. Had to write a review to give Pure Barre a shout out! I've moved and REALLY miss the studio. Ashley is a great businesswoman, owner, and instructor. She has really involved PB in the community and always knows everyone's name. I have had some REALLY negative experiences with other gym facilities in Greenwich, but that is definitely not the case here. Not only are the employees professional and friendly, they also give you a fantastic workout. I've taken some friends in the past who are truly astounded at how exhausted they are after an hour! The downside is the cost--I would definitely purchase packages if you are going to buy classes. I guarantee you will use all of them or go tons if you have unlimited. One class at a time can be VERY expensive...hoping to stop in when I am back in town though! read more

FYI ladies...be aware they are not customer friendly to new moms and or women who recently become pregnant and can not continue their contract with or without a doctors note! This Studio has literally transformed my body in less than a year. Pure Barre is a fantastic,intense, low impact work out that has given me a great upper body (yes, I can do full body push ups now)...and helped me slim down my belly, hips, butt and thighs. It's a fast paced 55 minute workout that never gets boring because the routines change for every class (and as a result you never plateau). I love the pumping upbeat music and instructors. It's become my home away from home in a way. And Ashley, the owner, BUYS THE CUTEST WORKOUT CLOTHES YOU HAVE EVER SEEN for the Studio. Her retail section is amazing and I could spend (and often do) a fortune there. If you are even remotely interested in getting in shape...then try this workout. read more

I joined using Groupon and I've since signed up for another package - this workout is amazing and the instructors (Jess and Ashley (owner)) are incredible. They are so attentive to form and really know when to help push you through an exercise. I was skeptical about buying more classes given the cost, but after my initial 10 class package, I had to go back. It's less than an hour but I walk out of the studio feeling like I've worked out for 2+hrs. It is HARD! But I love the feeling of being able to do moves and hold positions that I wasn't able to when I started. I cannot recommend this class enough - definitely worth a try! They recommend you wear grippy socks in class, and while they help, it's not a requirement. Just show up in long stretch pants, socks and a tee or tank and you're ready to go. read more

I joined the pure barre community about a month ago and I love it! When I first walked in, I was greeted and given information regarding what was going on, and which equipment to use for the class. The team is very friendly and answers any questions that you have. The class involves low-impact, yet isometric movements that work the muscles in women's typical problem areas. I felt so out of shape, but pushed myself and sweated to the end, after a month I find myself struggling less. All the instructors at the Greenwich studio are great; they are very energetic and keep the class exciting. Every class has different movements; you will never have the same class twice. The instructors walk around and help correct posture/alignment during class. I highly recommend Pure Barre Greenwich to anyone no matter if you regularly work out or not. read more

I started Pure Barre over a year ago and ever since my first class I was hooked! I was looking for a workout that would help me tone, firm and build core strength. With each class I feel myself getting stronger and able to push myself more each time. The Greenwich location is fantastic - Ashley and her team are warm, friendly and always very motivating. I remember how intimidated I was my first time at class... How perfect everyone looked... Wishing I had taken ballet as a kid Always wanting dancers legs... As a laid on the carpeted floor doing ab work I remember laughing the whole time saying to myself, "You want me to put that red band where and do what with it???" And my nerves, self consciousness and stress of the day melted in how hard and fast the work was, but I could DO IT. My laughter was heard by NO ONE or my squeals when that last rep gets so intense being gratefully drowned out by the music and Ashley's melodic voice in the mic driving me on and believing in all of us. I close my eyes a lot to focus on their technique instructions letting the endorphins kick in as I want to squeeze the barre into splinters sometimes. But you see, there's more to this class than you think. I had a car accident - and 6 yrs of painful back and neck injuries relapsing and NOTHING strengthened me or took the numbness from my neck and face away---until NOW in a matter of months. Nothing builds core strength like this after multiple disc injuries. Strength and stability comes from the inside out of a joint, and they focus on that wonderfully. --Take this class and watch your yoga improve, your running, your tennis--So this review isn't about pretty ballet moves or the obvious end to end polish of the instructors. This is about feeling beautiful from the inside out, feeling confident that I'm free of the fear of reinjury and the unexpected surprise of people saying, "Wow! You've changed your whole body shape!" This is a heart felt thank you for what you've given by bringing such a powerful art to the community and helping me "sculpt" the body I've always wanted. I hope they post my message! read more

My best friend is a PB addict and has been recommending I try out a class for years. I finally got myself to get in touch with the closest location to me and go in for my first class. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the customer service is like no other gym/studio I've been to. The staff makes you feel so welcome. I have a complicated name but that didn't stop them from acknowledging me or the instructors from helping me in class while critiquing. They're awesome! While the workouts can get intense, the amount of stretching we do creates the perfect balance. I always feel so sore after every class but more flexible too. I love Pure Barre Greenwich! I've never been big on working out and I've definitely tried all the fitness classes out there. Or so I thought! I was nervous to try Pure Barre because I heard it was really difficult, but was pleasantly surprised after my first class that it is totally doable! Of course it's pretty challenging at first just to get used to what it means to "tuck" and "pulse" etc... but once you do a week or so of classes you'll have it all figured out. Maybe I should clarify though...the classes can be as challenging as you want them to be. I think these classes are an amazing workout and they always kick my butt because I give it my all. If you're coming off an injury or just getting back into shape then you can always modify the exercises. (example, if holding a plank for 90 seconds isn't something you can do at first, then you can always go onto your knees to modify the plank). Challenge by choice! I love how the classes always have the same structure (arms, thighs, butt, core, stretch), but the specific exercises that you do switch from class to class. It keeps it interesting! If you're on the fence about trying Pure Barre just go for it! One of my favorite parts about Pure Barre is how nice everyone is! Ashley, the owner, is the best, as are all the instructors/staff at Pure Barre Greenwich. Give it a shot (the first week is free), but you'll end up loving it and signing up for the intro month! read more

The first time I visit Pure Barre Greenwich is when I drop by to buy my yoga outfit. It was then I found out that they have a barre class. Gabby encourages me and my sister to do a free trial , and we both did it the next day. I remember how boring Is the barre class to the gym where I belong. On the very first day when I tried Pure Barre, I did enjoy the class, it wasn't boring, it was a great feeling, the movements are very challenging and the shaking gives you a good feeling after the class. I signed up for unlimited class just after my first class. This is my Most loved workout! It's amazing! And the teachers are the greatest! They treat their clients like their family. Pure Barre Greenwich is truly as good as it gets! Pure Barre is my favorite work out - by far - and I've been to a few around the Tri-State (they are independently owned) but hadn't been able to find one that I really wanted to stick to. Whether the packages were too expensive, or I just didn't feel a part of the community, or I simply wasn't motivated, I never really stuck with any of them. All of that changed when I was lucky enough to move nearby to the Greenwich location, Ashley the owner, and her entire staff, motivated me from the first day I walked in. It's a very inclusive studio - everyone know's everyone's name, stays after class to chat or shop around, and the instructors are so helpful without being overly corrective. I look forward to their newsletters, monthly challenges they hold to motivate us (they include incentives for your hard work!), and the fun things they plan (ie, after class light bites, class at the brewery, or local boutique pop ups to name just a few.) They're always thinking of ways to keep their clientele coming back - and that includes that package pricing. PB is an expensive work out, there's no getting around that, but so is everything in the area. Ashley offers so many different package options that are definitely fairly priced, and you get what you pay for, and in this case, that's an excellent, full body morphing work out! I've been a workout junkie for a while now, but have never gotten the guts to take a class until a couple of weeks ago. I'm kicking myself in the butt now for not trying barre out sooner because it's the best full body workout you can get, and the instructors at Pure Barre Greenwich are amazing! I have been writing reviews of all of my vendors for my recent wedding and I definitely owe a huge thanks to Ashley and her entire team at Pure Barre Greenwich! I started going to classes here about 6 months ago to get in shape for my wedding. I saw results very fast and am still seeing changes in my body months later! If you've taken Barre classes before, you know it's an incredibly low-impact, fun, addicting workout. But what makes this studio great is the community. Ashley and her teachers and staff are amazing, kind, and motivating people. They do an awesome job at building community within the studio by hosting fun events and challenges, and even by having coffee and treats out for no reason from time to time. A good friend dragged me in as a visitor and I left the class worried it was too complicated. There were too many directions at once for a non-dancer like me. I decided to take a "Breaking Down the Barre" (free instructional class) - then tried again. Now I get the hype. I LOVE it. It is expensive but Ashley offers great promotions and specials. She is a great business woman and I prefer seeing my "fat tax" go to a local business rather than a commercialized gym. The instructors have their own personalities: peppy-some, encouraging-yes, well trained-certainly! They will offer modifications and corrections as needed. I've even taken classes next to very pregnant women. It keeps my complaining in check. Give it a few classes and you will surely love it too! read more
