I am one month into my Pure Barre Lakeview membership, and I just want to commend all of the instructors that work here, most notably, Kali. She is extremely welcoming and encouraging-- being new to barre, every position feels awkward and/or incorrect, and it's easy to feel like you're falling behind. However, all of the instructors are helpful with both form correction and encouragement. It's easy to forget that some members have been building up their barre strength over years, but they will be there to remind you. 10/10. read more

Like most men of my generation I know little about ballet except the following three words: Mikhail Barishnakov's buttocks. That guy's buttocks were just incredible. I have moved away to NYC so can no longer come to Pure Barre Lakeview, which is a shame, cause that place rules. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and my buttocks became sinewy, molded, chiseled marble blocks of pure muscle after just a few class sessions. It is a killer of a workout. Buying the new client special was kind of an impulse. but I'm so glad I did. Let me start by saying I'm a big girl, who hasn't exercised in years and could afford to loose more than a few pounds. Going to gyms or classes always brings with it a lot of anxiety of being judged and not knowing what the heck I'm doing, which usually results in just a visit or two before I give up. This was not the case at Pure Barre - I've gone every other day this week and plan to keep that up for the rest of the month. Every time I've walked in, I'm greeted immediately. My first visit started with a tour of the facilities, an explanation of some terms I might hear, I was told what I needed to grab before every class, and was told to ask questions if I had any. The space is clean and well organized. The instructors have all been great. They provide encouragement, come around to fix form, and are always pushing you to do your best. I've stayed after class and asked questions and have always been shown what to do and what I should aim for even if I can't do the move exactly like everyone else. I like that because they're not making it easy for me, just making sure I'm in a position to improve. And the biggest thing for me is that this is the first exercise class I'm actually excited to go to and am even more energized when I leave. The only down fall is that it is expensive - - as a student, I'm not sure how regularly I'll be able to go once I'm done with my new client package. But I do know that if I can afford it, I will def. continue to go. Highly recommend you try a class. read more

I love variety and rarely attend the same studio more than twice a week, Pure Barre has completely changed that. I have been going 3-5x a week since August and am always challenged. My balance and strength on my yoga mat has measurably improved. The shift in my posture has been a game-changer on the climbing wall. Flexibility is back and my hamstrings are loving it! Each class, I'm able to hone in on a move and find a way to challenge myself more through the clear adjustments and cues (and watching the instructor whose at the barre next to me). The community they've created at Pure Barre Lakeview is amazing. I really enjoy their instructors and clients and get excited to catch up with everyone after a few days away. I never worry about looking silly/totally botching a position in class because everyone else is so friendly and they've been there too! I feel connected, like a part of their studio. I can't say enough good things about Pure Barre! The work out is challenging yet addictive. I go 4-6 x a week and I have noticed a change in my body and my confidence. The woman at Pure Barre Lakeview are amazing. As soon as you walk into the doors you know your not "just another customer". Hanah and the women make you feel so welcome by remember your name and giving you warm greetings as you walk in the door. They are passionate about what they do and making sure that you have a full understanding of the workout so that you get the best experience while in class. They are always willing to talk with you after class to help you understand positions better or answer question. The studio is warm and inviting. The equipment is clean. It is a great workout for any age and size. I have taken classes with 17 year olds, 70 year olds, pregnant women, skinny women, overweight women and men. We are all there for the same reason. Having 55 min to ourselves and do something for ourselves. Over time you get more flexible and stronger but it wont get any easier. That is what is so great about it. The music is fun and the more you go the more you will understand the technique and enjoy class. They offer challenges and intensive classes which keeps you on your toes. I have made so many new friends since starting Pure Barre. I have grown more comfortable with my body and gained confidence. There is no other workout I would do! With much anxiety I signed up for my first barre class this weekend. I thought It would be like a yoga class where I would be completely incapable of doing most of the exercises and feel like I had no idea what I was doing. I was so pleasantly surprised and am still sore two days later!!! I also want to preface this with the fact that I'm a marathon runner and am running around 50 miles a week and this one class still had such an impact on me. My instructor made the point to help anyone who was doing the movements incorrectly and encourage those who she could tell were giving their all. There was a woman near me who was complaining of back pain and I noticed my instructor talk to her for over 10 mins after to make sure she got the movements down. This kind of dedication and encouragement from instructors is awesome to see. I would definitely be coming more often if I didn't have to travel during the week for my job. Looking forward to my next class!! (Also, it would be very easy to do the exercises half heartedly and not see the same results which could explain why some other reviewers are saying this class didn't make them sore...you aren't mindlessly lifting heavy weights in this class which would lead to soreness no matter the level of focus or motion accuracy.) read more

I love that when you rate a business 5 stars, the text next to it says, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" That's pretty much how I feel about the Barre workout and the staff at this location. I bought a 10 class package through Gilt City because I'd heard Barre workouts were tough (read: a good butt-kicking) BUT effective in giving you results. Pretty nervous when I walked in the door to my first class, but the instructors here, MAN, are they awesome. Incredibly friendly, contagiously happy - they all knew/learned my name right away, which made me feel like I instantly had some new pals (who will help me through the butt-kicking). As for the workout, yes, it is very tough, and yes, the instructor moves quickly between moves, but that's how it's so effective. The more you shock your muscles the faster they will change/tighten/get stronger. Definitely had some questions after my first two classes, but the instructors were more than willing to help me understand the moves/correct form AND they also go around during class to give individual advice if hips aren't properly tucked or legs aren't properly lifted. I have 3 classes left in the package and can definitely already feel/see the results. HIGHLY recommend everyone try this workout and if you can, go to this location. The only downside is the high monthly fee, but I plan on keeping an eye out for deals or at least buying a few individual classes each month so I can keep getting my butt kicked. This place is amazing! I am a new member and can not get enough Pure Barre. The staff/instructors are lovely and very helpful! There is defiantly a technique that needs to be mastered and it will take a few classes to get it down. Luckily, the instructors are on it! They take the time to correct your form during class and offer to stay back for questions after. I consider myself to be pretty fit and have done some pretty extreme workouts (i.e. Insanity, Crossfit, etc.) and this is by FAR the most challenging workout I have ever done. Yes, it is small movements and isolations.. but it is intense! I really feel like I am pushing my body during these classes. I absolutely love Pure Barre! My wife has been continually challenging herself everyday for the last 3yrs. While I am no expert of the methods & positions Pure Barre has you perform for one hour, I can officially authorize a stamp of approval. I've only been LTBing for a little over two weeks, but it is safe to say that even in that short amount of time, I'm addicted. I took a reduced rate class initially, and the next day purchase the new client special. $100 for a month of unlimited classes. I've been coming to class about 5 days a week. First, everyone that works here is incredibly friendly. The instructors offer corrections during class and are more than willing to answer any questions after class is over. The classes are very encouraging. No calling out individuals for poor form here. The facility it very clean. They have lockers with locks for you to store your belongings in. In addition, there is a small changing area and two bathrooms. If you've never done a bar class before, definitely give Pure Barre Lakeview a try. I've gone to other barre studios, and this is by far, my favorite. read more

I've been going to Pure Barre Lakeview for a year now, and I am so proud of how much (and quickly!) by body has changed. I started off looking to find a workout that motivated me to come in and tone up...but instead it has turned into a part of my life that I can't imagine living without! Within months I had defined abs and for the first time ever a body I was extremely proud of. Now, I am 6 months pregnant and bringing my baby belly to the "barre" with me! ;) I love how I still able to keep up with class to help keep every other part of my body in shape while my belly grows bigger! The teachers are absolutely amazing and make the entire experience so much better. At the start I was unsure if I was doing things right in class - and they were so kind and patient to help me get my best form. Now they push me further and help motivate me to be my best! I try my hardest to go to class at least 5 times a week, and going that much has really helped me see results fast! Pure Barre Lakeview has become my main method of working out since the minute I attended my first class back in October! I absolutely love it. I'll tell you why it's so great in two parts; the instructors and the actual work out. The workout itself is amazing. I can tell you that my first attempt wasn't the best. I wasn't sure I really understood the moves, or if it was doing much for me but I continued to go back and realized after only a short few tries, my body was changing and it was fantastic! It's intense and pushes you to your best limits. The instructors at PB Lakeview are awesome! They are friendly and most importantly motivating. Every time you walk in, they have a smile on their face and they genuinely ask how your doing. They motivate you every second of class. They use phrases like "Mind over matter" "You can do anything for 20 seconds" or "shaking means changing" and each of those phrases helps you push through to the next section. It's a great feeling to walk into your next class and know that even if you showed up alone, you most likely have a friend ( one of the instructors) there to motivate you! I can't say that I've been to any of the other PB locations, but between the work out itself and this group of ladies, you must try it! read more

Pure Barre has been one of the most effective and enjoyable workouts I have tried. I originally started by buying of daily deal package and after going to a few classes was totally addicted! The staff is always nice and encouraging while also allowing you to take the class at your own level. The workout allows to to target difficult areas to isolate and help you learn how to further target those areas on your own too. This is the perfect workout to take up if you're looking to mix up your workout regiment. You will see results after only a few classes and enjoy your time there! read more

I tend to hate all group classes, but I have friends in Milwaukee that won't stop talking about barre. This I enjoyed- the instructors are super nice, and gentle about correcting form (so appreciated as I hate feeling criticized). I'm also so very out of shape, which tends to make you self conscious already. Emily was the instructor, she's encouraging without being pushy. It's not that difficult to follow overall, however for me, I know that the second class will be easier to target the right muscle groups, it takes a bit to figure out some of the moves- if you can't feel it, you're not doing it right. Overall I enjoyed it and will most likely go back if I can justify the expense to myself. And if I can walk tomorrow! read more

My sister didn't have the best experience at the Barre class (not Pure Barre!) she attended, so I took a chance when I purchased the special...I AM SO GLAD I DID! Like a lot of the other reviewers - there are so many great things I could say about Pure Barre! I tried a few classes out as a result of a Gilt City deal they were having when they first opened. I thought I'd do the 5 classes I bought and then that would be it but now I'm addicted and have been going about 3x a week ever since! The technique definitely takes a few classes to understand but that keeps it interesting. Overall, this is a fantastic workout that never gets any easier. I actually look forward to working out every time! The teachers are all fantastic and make an effort to get to know you and learn your name. That definitely helps when they give you a little shout out during a particularly tough exercise. The only drawback is the classes are bit pricey but I really think you get what you pay for. I have been going to Pure Barre Lakeview regularly for well over a year now and continue to love/feel challenged by the workouts. I still enjoy a variety of exercises including running & ballet (you do NOT need dance experience to do barre though!!) but prioritize going to barre class at least 3x/week. I have seen great results from adding pure barre into my regular workout routine and, for me, 3-4x/week really maximizes those results and complements the other exercises I enjoy. The women that run the studio are smart, welcoming and good at their jobs so there is the added bonus of supporting a business owned/run entirely by women! I explored with PB River North before switching to this location, since it was closer to home, and I can say across the board PB really knows how to employ individuals that are genuine and focused on their own learning, while also putting a real interest in learning and understanding of their Pure Barre clients. I have the 6 month auto-pay membership, which is awesome because all the intensive and special classes are free, and Enrolling in the auto pay also knocks down your monthly rate :) I try to go to PB atleast 5 days a week and almost immediately within the first month I could see a difference in my body. I am obsessed with Pure Barre. My college girlfriends bought me a 5-pack of classes as an engagement gift. I LOVE this studio (and Chassi and Lou are two of my favorite teachers). They know you by name (which helps so I don't slack off in class), the hold you to your reservation ($15 charge for a late cancel--great motivation to stick to it), and I've never been so excited for every class that I go to. Their newsletters are actually informative, too---talking about eating right and staying healthy. Tons of deals so that they make the experience affordable and cute clothes with sales to boot. I plan to continue on and purchase the Bridal Package to get ready for my big day. I'm really starting to see a huge difference in the definition of my arms, back, my strength, and endurance! I have been doing PB for over a year now and let me just tell you.....it still challenges me every time. I am a runner and I rely on PB as my form of cross training. I've seen a string of personal bests since I've joined--no BS. If you're a runner, you NEED to try PB! PB Lakeview was my first try at PB. The staff and instructors at PBLV are truly the best; always a positive vibe walking in and out of the studio. I honestly have no complaints. Even other clients are super nice. I've been wanting to try a Barre class for a while now, and I'm really glad that I went to my very first class here at the Lakeview Pure Barre! I came in on a Class Pass very last minute and the staff was wonderful about getting me quickly signed in and whisked off to class. I didn't have sticky socks, and they said that was fine, however I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM as I was sliding all over the place in my SmartWool socks. Now for the class. This is one of the best first time workouts I've ever received!! While it was difficult, I had enough basic knowledge (from dance as a kid) to be able to follow along moderately well. And even just being able to keep up 75% of the time was enough that I knew I was going to be sore today (in a good way) less than an hour after yesterday's class. I should also mention that the instructor was wonderful about coming over and giving me some much appreciated individual instruction for more of the difficult moves. This is an incredible workout that seemed to target all of my trouble areas! I can't wait to go back and take another class. I have been going to barre classes since January of this year, and it's addicting. I have been a client of the pure barre Lakeview since March and I keep coming back because of the amazing staff and the killer workout. If you want to be in the best shape of your life, I highly suggest this workout. Yes, it may be more expensive then your average gym, but that is because it's worth the price. This isn't the closest Pure Barre near me, but I LOVE it so much that I always go to it. I started off Pure Barre in Sherman Oaks, CA & really enjoyed the workout, but wasn't thrilled with the staff. They were okay, but didn't ever try to get to know me. Pure barre Lakeview is NOT like that at all! They made an effort from day one (when I was using ClassPass). I love that the instructors walk around to make modifications- you can really tell they care. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming here too. The one negative is it can get a little bit too warm in the studio towards the end of class. It's not a massive deal, but I think always having the fans on would help a lot. read more

Pure Barre was Lulu's studio of the month, and loving the chance to try a new workout for free, I jumped on it. First off, the place is brand new, so it's spotless. It also has a bunch of Splits 59 workout gear, so you can get your shop on before class. They have lockers, each w/ their own key, and two changing rooms. The bathrooms are on the other side of the studio, so if no changing room is available, you'll have to wait until after the previous class lets out. Now, on to getting buff. I've only been to two other barre studios, and enjoyed the fast pace here. For the class we used weights, a ball, and a strap. Also, there were two other instructors in the class, so we had someone to look at while the amazing main instructor Hanah walked around the room making adjustments (which were on point and private - no yelling and calling you out in front of everyone from across the room). I also liked how after we were finished using our weights, the other instructors walked around and collected them for us, which decluttered my workout space (seriously, if anyone would suffer death by exercise ball, it'd be me). Overall, my arms, seat, and thighs felt the burn. We did our abs with our backs against the wall, and since that's not something I'm used to, it'll def take a few more visits to get it right. Also, like any barre class, it takes some time to learn the cues, so I can only imagine the burn after a few more classes. Finally, I dug how my class had a suggested donation of $5 for Bright Pink, and Hanah excitedly explained the organization to us. Note: Their intro package is $100 for a month of classes, but after that it jumps to $225 (ouch!). Single classes start at $23, and buying packages can make them as low as $17 a class. read more
