It's been a full year since Purcor was hired to for rodent service at our home and we continue to find major holes and gaps and see rats running into the house, waking us up at night, and causing unknown damage to the home. Three months on from their final visit and second vapor barrier, we witnessed a rat run across the yard and under the house and disappear. Surprise, surprise -- we found yet another enormous entry point their team missed in the first ten visits. Prior to this, we had two additional follow up visits to cover other gaps in the foundation that were missed in the initial installation of a barrier -- it's like someone didn't do a thorough walk through and check of the work the day it was performed. In addition, we've had numerous issues with their team showing up unannounced to do work, and then arguing with us telling us they don't need us home to do the work so it's okay. It isn't okay to show up unannounced, as it interrupts our own schedules, animals, and focus ability for work. They also need access to our secured yard so they can't actually complete the work without us there. I've held back for a very long time on writing a review, but seeing the rat run straight into the house today was the last straw in my tolerance for such low quality work. I am really sad to be writing this, but sadder still to be living in a rat-infested home because I trusted the wrong company to help us. read more

It's hard to trust this company. On top of the outdoor service, they offer a free in home inspection looking for ways to get more business from you. I was told that I had recent mice activity in my attic and so I paid for the bait stations. The next 2 guys that came out to check the bait stations both said that they didn't believe there was recent mice activity. I just recently cancelled my entire service and they don't make it easy on you. They expect you to tell them why you are cancelling and then repeat the issue to a second lady who wanted to argue with me about whether or not I had mice. Although the 2 guys told me that I didn't, she is telling me that they wrote in the report that they saw droppings on the bait stations. Very suspect! read more

After 10+ years of continuous rodent & ant service (originally with a company Purcor acquired), I ended up with a crawlspace rodent infestation they completely missed, and progressed to the point of needing remediation. I was on my way to selling my home, so needed it resolved quickly and didn't want to go through the hassle of finding another contractor which was a big mistake. They subcontracted the work with zero oversight, the subcontractor had no idea what they were supposed to do, and Purcor went silent when I needed answers. I later learned there was supposedly a project manager (named Grady?) who was supposed to act as a coordinator and never contacted me. This lack of communication resulted in multiple return visits to finish the work and a ton of extra time, stress, and expense for me. I can't express with words how disappointed and fed up I am with Purcor. I will be finding a locally owned service at my new house and warning my friends & neighbors off of Purcor whenever I can. I'm kicking myself for not seeing the writing on the wall earlier when it became impossible to get even basic questions (e.g. time window for technician arrival) answered from their customer service team. read more

Purcor bought out Pioneer Pest a while ago and service has steadily gone downhill. Every interaction outside of routine maintenance with them is difficult and requires multiple phone calls where you will be on hold for 10+ minutes. Today, I took a day off work for a yearly interior inspection that was scheduled weeks before, only to have them cancel it an hour and a half beforehand. Suspiciously, the cancellation occurred 10 minutes after I called to get an eta. The service tech told me the issue was that scheduling occurs in a Florida call center and they do not take into account drive times, so the techs can't make all of their scheduled appointments. Whatever the reason, I now have to give up another day of my time and hope they show up. This is not the first issue I have had with them not meeting their scheduled commitments. Do not use their services, they are unreliable. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We were clients of Pioneer Pest for years, and when Purcor took over, we decided to give them a try. At some point in 2023, they stopped monitoring our crawlspace, and now we have a rat superhighway underneath our house. The Purcor team has been hard to reach; no plan is in place to deal with this issue almost 2 weeks after it was discovered when we started to smell a decaying critter. They are trying to blame our foundation, but it was not an issue for 7 years, and now it is. I have filed a complaint at the BBB to get them to respond to our requests for a plan to manage this problem that has occurred on their watch. Stay far away from this company read more

They came all three times first time took them week half to take payment from my account they did all three treatments mild case bed bugs called few weeks after still had couple bugs they refuse to respond I did what tech told me to do took pictures waited 9 days took more sent to tech no response after called and he told me take pictures called there office five times over 3 days requesting to speak to someone before I got upset then started getting emails from manager telling me tech won't come out because sexual tension what a joke I'm a married crippled guy my wife lost her breasts to cancer we aren't feeling sexy in our old age .I've responded and sent numerous emails to him no response so again don't use them he even told me on the email they could pay for free service for life we must have brought them in or someone visiting did .we don't travel nobody comes over by our choice not even our grandkids since February 2025 since we discovered had bugs so again they don't honor there work dispite we signed agreement read more

We had Purcor clean out the crawl space a couple of years ago. We had a dead rat and they removed it. We had them clean the crawl space, put down new tarp seal everything up possible. Spent a lot of money. A few weeks ago we smelled dead rat. They came and removed one. The smell continued. The technician came out again and said there was one under the tarp and they would have to cut into the tarp and they would call to make an appointment. We never heard back. We have called several times and left messages. Still no response. Very, very disappointed. The kitchen is rank as the cooktop sits in a cabinet above the crawl space. It turns my stomach just to walk into the kitchen. I will have to find another company and hope they do better. read more

This company is horrible. I had an inspector come out over concerns over persistent mites after replacing a moldy heater. The inspector said he can't do anything unless he can visually see the infestation. I explained that I've been cleaning and treating it, but it's persistently coming back if I slip a few days. He again said he couldn't do any treatment unless I caught them and called him out again. I asked him about treating the outside area. He's only familiar with indoor pests. He advised me to spray soapy water outside and use bug bombs. I called the company to ask if this is normal, and they confirmed that they won't do any treatments unless they can visually identify the pests. What a waste. read more

I really liked this company when it was Pioneer Pest Management, but since they were bought out by Purcor, prices have gone up and customer service has gone down. I finally gave up after I asked to start rodent service on the condition that they use a specific rodent bait I had researched, which would be less harmful to wildlife. The salesperson and the installer both told me they would use it, but then they used something else. I called and emailed multiple times over the course of two weeks asking them to replace the bait with what we had agreed on, but they never replied. Then I collected the bait stations and asked for a refund on the fee I had paid to start the new service. They came to pick up the bait stations but never gave a refund. After asking a few more times, I filed a complaint with my credit card company and finally got a refund after two months of effort. Now Purcor is sending me bills for the amount that I got back. They have still never answered a single message. Everyone makes mistakes, but I see no reason to work with a company that will not address or even acknowledge their mistakes. read more

The evaluation and first visit were quite good. It went downhill after that. No phone call to schedule as promised. Instead I got a call asking if I was at home; I was not. But they were at my door wanting to do the follow up, a full 2 weeks after they were supposed to do so. No call to reschedule, although it was promised. I got an email saying they couldn't get in because my number didn't work, or there were animals in the yard, or the gate was locked. none of this was true. I waited a week. Then I called and had to leave a message as everyone was "in a training." When I got a return call I told them to cancel my service. That got their attention and suddenly I got multiple calls. Now they are supposed to pick up their stuff. Again I got a call that he was on his was to pick the things up; I was out of town. He said he'd call later that week. Much later that week I get a canned call that they would be in my area Monday and if that didn't work, to call and then the message cut off. So now I have their stuff. yes I could call them to schedule the pickup. or they can demonstrate customer service and actually talk to me. Regardless, no more of my money is going to them. read more

My experience with Pioneer has been great. First call was for typical small black ants, had tried all the safe DYI strategies to no avail. Pioneer was able to get out in a timely manner and were clear with what I should expect. Problem solved! About a year later, problem came back and got Pioneer to come fight the good fight and again they were victorious! I've now been on an annual plan with them for a couple years now and it's great. However much I'd like to skimp and only call when needed, their rates and consistency are well worth it not to mention the fact that I get no bugs. Their in office staff and field techs have always been fantastic and incredibly friendly to work with. Always easy and quick to schedule. In covid days the techs have all been masked and distanced for chats on the porch. read more

Dave showed up on the early side of the two hour window we were provided. He did a very thorough inspection of our house and was full of very interesting facts about rodents and tips for protecting our house going forward. Pioneer Pest comes out for an inspection for free and doesn't charge you for things you don't need. This was my first experience with a pest control conpany and I was really pleased with the whole experience. Pioneer Pest Control has helped us with ants and mice. They are easy to schedule and the tech that comes out is normally helpful and knowledgable. On the downside, they have twice cancelled scheduled service visits at short notice, each time because of illness of the tech. Evidently, they don't employ enough staff to cover for a tech that is out, and they would like us to work around their staffing schedule. I can't recommend this company as they don't provide a reliable service. read more

We recently bought a house, and a few weeks ago we noticed a few black ants... and then a few more. They looked to me like carpenter ants, so I FREAKED OUT. I called a few places and decided to go with Pioneer because they have a 90-day guarantee, and because the reviews here are so awesome. Scheduling an appointment was easy, and the day before we were given a two-hour window. Grady was right on time. I suppose what I liked the most about the experience was Grady's knowledge and professionalism. He answered all my questions and was so patient. He didn't leave until I felt comfortable and well informed. He ended up applying a gel product inside the house, only in the areas where the ants are. And then outside, he applied a product all around the house, and it was designed to work in the rain. In three weeks, the whole colony should be gone. I had read their Reviews on Yelp and visited their website and thought this would be the place to help me with my problem. WRONG! The woman on the phone told me almost the opposite of what was being advertised on their website. She said they charge $129 for an Inspection but apply it to the bill. First off, this is usually a tactic raising their price by that amount so they aren't losing any money and secondly they can outrageously expensive in their quote and you are already stuck paying their $129 fee. Why all the tricks or "smoke and mirrors" tactics? If you are truly an honest company working hard to provide a GREAT service, then you don't need to trick people into paying for something they are never going to use. I get it, it takes time and money to do inspections but what of all the other businesses out there that have people check out their service or product (i.e. car sales, jewelry, home furniture or appliances, etc.) and then the customer makes a decision whether they want to pay for that service or product. You are not the only company out there so I will just go to your competitors who are not charging for Inspections and use their services. read more

I called them for an ant problem at a client's home and they responded quickly When they initially came out, they treated the problem and explained the options/pricing clearly upfront. Several weeks later, the problem still had not gone away. I called them and they immediately reviewed our past records from the service and sent someone out promptly to re-treat the area. Ian at Pioneer Pest Management performed a home inspection at our house. We were hearing noises and were not sure if it was a mouse or possibly a squirrel. Ian did a thorough inspection of our house (inside and outside) and explained to us what he was testing for as he went through the inspection. He had a really cool thermal camera that was helpful to see what was or was not behind the wall. The service from Pioneer and the quality of the analysis/inspection were both outstanding. Spectacularly bad service. Can't say how enjoyable it is to go out to use a freshly cleaned hot tub only to find that the pest control service has placed a bunch of ant bait under the hot tub cover so that the entire tub is filled with dead ants and the rim is teeming with more. Absurdly, I've asked them not to do this several times, which you wouldn't think would be necessary, but they keep doing it. Terminating service on Monday-never hire these people. read more

Since my last review we have had continued quarterly service with Pioneer hoping regular treatments will help rid or at least abate the regular ant activity we've had in the last 18 months since we moved into the home. Unfortunately that has not been the case. Although the customer service has been exceptional (VERY responsive to emails and calls, genuinely friendly in person, punctual), the actual service outcome has not been what I had hoped for. I was really envisioning ant prevention with some understanding of infestations here and there, but there hasn't been any abatement at all. I feel like I am managing ants just the same as the last 18 months except that I am also paying for a service. Didn't seem rational to continue so we cancelled. No hard feelings, just frustrated. Ants are high on my list of annoyances. They tried to reassure me to let their product do its job. That it takes 2-3 weeks to work properly. They offered to come back and re-treat in between the scheduled visits if needed, which we requested a couple of times in the 6 months we were using them. Despite their insistence that their product is "highly effective," we did not find this to be case. In fact, we are currently 6 weeks past the regular service we had in January and 3 weeks from the re-treatment after that and not a week has gone by where we don't see ants. And i'm talking 50+ ants, not just a handful. I'm glad others have had success with these folks. Perhaps we were just unlucky. read more

Wish I could report 5 stars but after 2 years of routine service, I still have rats. Great customer service and employees, my initial walk through was super promising. "Only a couple of months and the rats will be gone!" I was also told that part of my services would include removing the dead rats and nests which was I found out quickly was not true. The individuals who came to help patch up entry points, on 2 separate occasions, missed huge glaring holes later pointed out by a contractor. Very frustrating to now have cancelled the services and to be in the same place we were in years ago, only minus several thousand dollars, and handling dozens of melting rat bodies. Rats were not eating their provided baits for months, though still clearly present in my garage. Why would I continue a service that isn't effective? Can not recommend. read more

I was stung several times by yellow jackets while out watering my yard. Just as awful as it sounds! Carl came out and applied powder then spray into the two nests. After a short period of having the area blocked off, all the yellow jacket activity subsided. I'm happy to report the bees and other pollinators were still buzzing around. Carl was efficient and considerate. He even called the next day to see if his applications worked. He patiently answered all my questions and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. He's very knowledgeable about all types of flying stinging insects. Besides getting rid of the pests, I learned a lot. This company uses methods and products that have very little, if any, negative impact on the environment and on bees. Very knowledgeable techs that came out the next business day, even during the busy season when all of the ants are coming out. By the way, the first company I called hasn't even called me back yet. Waiting to see how everything goes, but they sprayed and baited all of our problem area and other common areas where ants are found so I'm sure it will be great, and if not, their work is warranted so no worries. Last year my wife found three yellow jacket carcasses in our den. We have an 18 month old and we wanted to make sure we didn't have a swarm of yellow jackets attacking him at some point in the future. I made the appointment and they gave me a selection of days that I could choose for the service. On the day of, Ian came out promptly at the time they said he would and his professionalism was second to none. After chatting about the service he inspected the area that I assumed was infested and took time to explain every aspect of what he was doing AND he gave me a few helpful tips. I feel informed and that we are getting quality information and service. Josh was very empathetic with our concern about not wanting harsh chemicals sprayed in or around the house, especially with little kids around. Last year, we had Pioneer Pest Management come out when we had carpenter ants. Adam was able to figure out that they were literally walking across our Comcast line from the tree outside our house into our kitchen! It was amazing! He came up with a plan to remove them (a 3-month plan), and we haven't seen any since! This year, we saw some sugar ants (tiny ones) in our kitchen, living room, and bathroom. I called and was able to set up an appointment right away! Their office staff were so warm, friendly, and efficient! The technician who came out, Jake, was able to assess our situation based on what's going on in Portland where we live. He was so knowledgeable, funny, and helpful! After realizing that our situation was very minor, and that the ants just came in when they were literally flooded out of their outdoor homes and had already returned to their outdoor home, we decided not to spray. We like ants -- we just don't want them in our house! Jake was incredibly friendly, helpful, and up-to-date about the goings-on in Portland with the weather. It's rare to have a company who has such knowledgeable technicians! Best of all, Jake said he wouldn't charge for our meeting! We were amazed that Jake did the whole walk-through and gave us all this information completely free! We are truly delighted by the level of professionalism, knowledge, and efficacy of Pioneer Pest Management, and highly, highly recommend them! read more

Quick responses via Yelp! Set up of initial inspection and treatment was easy. Our service provider, Josh, was the right mix of friendly and professional. Left me with enough information to know what to expect and when to expect it (we were dealing with ants and spiders). Set up follow up schedule but didn't require a contract. I've only had one servicing so far, but would recommend them based on that experience. read more

Great company. Great prices. Very friendly staff. I asked for a quote on yelp. They responded quickly. I called and set up an appointment. They were friendly and said the tech would be there by 8 am the next day. He arrived at 8:00 sharp - not even a minute late. He was like a buddy I'd hang out with. Super friendly. He did an amazing job and was really knowledgeable. He looked at a spider web and could tell what spider made it. I expressed concerns about affecting my saltwater tank. He pulled out a product he planned to use and said "ya know... I know this is safe for freshwater fish but I don't know about saltwater." He read the products' pamphlet, couldn't get an answer so he said he'd use other options he knew were safe. He was very thorough and even cleaned all of my cobwebs for me. I didn't expect that. He found and destroyed a wasp nest I didn't even know I had. As he was leaving, I noticed a spider that was walking funny. He stopped, explained how the poison was working and how studies showed the spider was dying a painless death. Kinda cool. The guy was so friendly and so sociable I hope he comes back every time. I originally had a very long review detailing what went wrong, but decided the short version may be more effective, so here you go: I called Pioneer after seeing several mice in my crawlspace. The tech came out and said he couldn't find any evidence of mice or see any place they could possibly get in the house. He said he pulled up the vapor barrier but didn't see any evidence, but left me some traps (after charging me $90 inspection fee) to put out, which I did. Over the next three days I caught 12 mice! The tech came back out, said again that he couldn't figure out how they were getting in and was shocked I found that many. After seeing a rat in the crawlspace I decided to call a competitor (EMS Pest Control), who came out the next day and found 3 places where rats/mice had burrowed into the crawlspace (the same one Pioneer's tech said he looked) and a gap between the foundation and the house where mice could get in. Needless to say, I am very dissappointed in the level of "work" Pioneer did. read more

We just moved in to a house to discover mice and, some large creature living in our walls. Being new to Portland and this being our first house (long-time apartment dwellers) we Googled and guessed. The first company we called showed up, dropped off a few mouse traps and charged us $179. We still were hearing loud noises in our walls so, after a few days of reading home repair forums, we Googled and guessed and got Pioneer and got super lucky. Their wildlife management specialist, Jason, walked the entire house with us (including the roof!) to help us understand our vulnerabilities and how, specifically, to prevent mice (or any other creature) from getting in in the future. And, when we finally could not locate the large creature we had been hearing in the walls, he tested everything else he could think of and figured out that the phone line was vibrating due to squirrel activity in the trees -- problem solved! What really made it for us though (and why I decided to write a review) was that not only did he spend an incredible amount of time with us -- he didn't make us feel incompetent for not figuring out the phone line on our own, nor did he make us feel like we wasted his time on a problem that wasn't his to ultimately solve. In fact, he made us feel GOOD about the whole experience. If I could give this company more than 5 stars, I would. Moving to a new city is hard enough without having to hope you are lucky enough to find "the best" company for whatever problem you're trying to solve. We did find the best (it took two tries) but I'm sharing this in hopes it helps someone else in a similar situation. read more

Decided to give these guys a call after reading the positive reviews on Yelp... So glad I did. Adam came out to the house, listened to my description of the bug problem (which I hoped I did not actually have) and started his investigation. Sure enough I did have carpenter ants. He found two colonies. I asked him to check other areas and he reported that the colonies were isolated to the the two he found. He explained a remediation solution and cost, and I approved. He did the treatment as well as the full grounds treatment. When it was done he explained what I should expect and left me with some special bait traps. He also recommended a quarterly treatment plan at least for a year, but he did not use an high pressure sales tactics. He just explained and left me to think about it. A week later, I called and signed up for quarterly service. And to date (one month later) I can not see any ants. Yeah! I am pleased with their service and will recommend them to my friends. read more

Keith was excellent! I was able to get a hold of someone the first time I called and they set up an appointment for one week out. Keith was able to find the pest entry point and set traps in no time. He answered my questions, and explained what he found and the plan moving forward. I feel so much better knowing this issue is under control and being handled by Pioneer. read more
