There was, fortunately, an issue on their end processing our quote paperwork that made me look at their reviews, which are horrible (after the fact, I know, shame on me) and decided to go elsewhere. He explained that I have been seeing winged male reproductive damp wood termites, which are not the bad kind. There was no evidence of active termite damage or colonization, so no treatment is needed now. Emilio was very professional, and explained clearly what he was (not) finding. read more

I have read all the positive reviews, but my experience with Columbia Pest Control wasn't helpful. For the first time I had mice in my home, specifically in my kitchen. It was awful. I was panicky. The good about this company is the office staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to schedule a visit from an exterminator within a couple days, which when you are seeing mice droppings on your counters, is a good thing. Their process is to come three times within a month. They were always right on time and the tech called each time when he was ten minutes away from my house. The tech set up five traps between the kitchen and basement where there was no evidence of mice. Over the entire month only one mouse was found in a trap. On the first visit he was here for about ninety minutes and sprayed black foam outside to thwart potential entry points. I'm not sure black was the best color since it really stood out, and with three dogs, it looked like something else I needed to scoop. He also sprayed the foam on an opening near the baseboards in the kitchen. Again the black foam was very noticeable. The next two visits lasted about 15 minutes each as he checked his earlier work. The mice situation seemed to be under control, although I was still finding droppings on the stove and countertops occasionally which I did mentioned to the tech. Five weeks after the final visit I called to report that the mice were back and could the tech come out again to see why. I was shocked when they told me that they would send the tech out to give me a price for the second round. Why would I pay more money to NOT get the job done again. Apparently they don't offer any type of guarantee. I had already paid $500 for what amounted to a couple hours of their tech's time and some black spray foam. It was only then I started to research what else could be done and found out the mice had simply chewed through the foam which seems to be the norm. Calling other pest control companies I found that Columbia is quite a bit more expensive and they don't use the spray foam alone. And I wouldn't have minded that they were more expensive if they had solved the problem. Many DIY sites I looked at recommended not using foam at all. In the end a handyman I occasionally hire used sealant and then put a metal front on a block of wood and charged me $75. No mice have been seen for five months. Lessons learned: Call around for price quotes even if you have unwanted visitors and feel desperate. Don't rush for exterminators first because there were a lot of different options I discovered online. Do a bit of research before calling anyone. YouTube has a lot of videos on pest control and was quite helpful, but I only watched after the exterminator failed. I don't like being the outlier among all the other positive reviews, but in my case I would not use Columbia Pest Company again. read more

We have been nothing but impressed by the quality of customer service and treatment by Columbia Pest Control. We were referred to them by our realtor, and they did not disappoint! The first time we used them was to treat our active rodent problem in the crawlspaces of our new house, and they came back to do follow-up visits which was included in the initial cost. The second time we used them was to treat our ant problem in the summer, and that too was completely eradicated within one follow-up visit. Their pricing is reasonable and I personally think you get more than what you pay for with the great customer service. Shout out to Kristine, who is a prompt and professional communicator- I've always had a pleasant experience when speaking with her. The company also emails a detailed "completion of service" email, with the name of the person who did the treatment, what they used and what they did so there is full transparency to the customer. They have a great policy where if you find ants after the initial treatment within a 14 day period, they come back and treat it again for free. The best part about them is that they use organic, non-toxic, zero fume treatments which are baby safe, so we were able to get the interior of our home treated without risking the health of our 2 month old son. We had some active tiny ants in our Master bath and called Columbia Pest Control to service "outside our normal routine maintenance" and they sent Alex out the very next day! He was communicative on his arrival time and we were able to meet him to let him inside. He treated our crawl space and the affected areas and left some bait traps for us to use if we continue to see the pesky little ants anywhere! Overpriced and does not care about solving the customer's problems. I had a noise in my ceiling, so I knew it was time to hire a professional to help with the problem. I reached out to several companies, and Columbia Pest was the most expensive, but they had good reviews and the lady I spoke with told me her guys were "really, really good", so I went with them. I paid them $700 to include the attic and crawl space, which included 3 visits. On the first visit, the technician inspected the attic and crawl space, set 30 traps, and said he filled in some potential entry points. He then went outside and did an exterior inspection for potential entry points and let me know he found a few and filled those as well. On the second visit, he checked the traps. Unfortunately, there was nothing in the traps, and the noise persisted. He suggested I have a roofer come out and inspect the roof as well, as Columbia Pest can't go on the roof. On the third visit, once again, nothing was in the traps, but the noise was still there. He picked up most of the traps, but left a few in place and told me they had a 60 day warranty, and if I did hear a trap snap, to give them a call and they would come pick it up for me. Overall, the tech was really great. He was on time, friendly, gave suggestions, and truly seemed to want to help. It was the following week after his last visit that really upset me with Columbia Pest. I had a roofer come out to inspect my roof, and he found no entry points on the roof, but he did find an entry point with newly chewed wood and fur right under the gutter awning. I would have thought Columbia Pest would have found this when they did an exterior inspection, but we all miss things, so I thought they would come out and fill it for me, since it had only been a week, and they said they had a 60 day warranty to come get traps. When I called them, first they gave me a hard time about it, asking all sorts of questions, like if its "visible from the attic"? How am I supposed to know? Isn't that what I hired them for? After much discussion, they said they would come fill it for $200!!!! I told them that didn't seem right b/c I already paid them $700 and if someone else could find the point of entry within 20 mins, they should have been able to find this and have taken care of it in one of their visits. They talked to "management" and said they would come out for$100 then. No thank you!!! What terrible customer service!!!! Waste of money! The tech was nice, and he truly seemed to want to help solve my problem, but the company only cares about getting more $$$, and not about following through with what customers pay them for. I would NOT recommend using them. read more

I had a ground hornet or wasp nest under leaves that I tried twice to kill off, but still had wasps buzzing seven days later. The folks at Columbia Pest Control came out the same day I called and quickly dealt with the nest. Alex, the exterminator, was very professional and answered all my questions about the poison itself, such as how long the die-off would take, and if the the spray would present any problems with my two dogs. He was in and out and I'm hoping this is all we need. Alex seemed to think so. Given the response time and professionalism, I'd happily recommend CPC to anyone needing pest control.
