He is very straight forward and honest. We have used him twice now and can't wait for a third! On our first home he pointed to a spot from inside the house - he said this area is low on insulation. A few years later when I removed and replaced my siding I wasn't surprised when he was right! While most of the attic had 12" of insulation and the area he pointed out had only about 2". My husband and I were purchasing a detached duplex in Albany. Our realtor recommended Ken and we couldn't be happier with the service. During the past 20 years, we have purchased several personal and income properties and we've never had an inspection as thorough or detailed as the one Ken provided. Typically, an inspector brings a laptop or iPad with them and, as they finish inspecting an area of the house, they'll pause to add those details to their report. So, during a two to three hour inspection, the inspector will spend nearly half the time writing the report, rather than conducting the inspection. Not Ken. He spent the entire time conducting the inspection and drafted the report later that afternoon. We've purchased several fixer homes and we've renovated them ourselves. We have a lot of experience fixing other people's DIY renovations and neglect. But Ken found things that we would never have thought to consider. Ken's inspection found faults and flaws that could have cost $100,000 or more to repair and remediate. Ultimately, we decided to withdraw from our purchase agreement and keep looking. Ken saved us from buying somebody else's expensive problems. If we purchase any houses in the area in the future, I would absolutely want to use Ken again. read more

I was looking at a home to purchase in Corvallis, OR, and Ken provided a superb home inspection. He arrived an hour early so he could walk around and inspect the outside. He then spent several hours in a very thorough inspection of every system, room, window, outlet, etc. and pointed out any items of concern. He had an IR camera to check for roof leaks or thermal issues - very cool. He got up in the roof and down in the crawlspace. He carefully documented all items of potential concern with text and photos, giving me the information I needed to decide what repairs would be needed. He impressed me with the depth and range of his knowledge - including the roof, siding, furnace, insulation, wiring, pest mitigation, and more. He was able to answer all of my questions (and I ask a lot of questions :) ). He was friendly, patient, and positive the whole time. Ken emailed the completed report (80 pages) to me by 7 a.m. the next morning - wow! Then, after the sellers made some repairs, he went back to check that they were done to satisfaction. I greatly valued this because I was moving from another state and could not easily re-visit to check it myself. Overall, Ken was a very great pleasure to work with! We were buying a home in North Albany, Oregon while trying to move from Texas. No easy feat! We found Ken from Greater Purpose through glowing reviews online and they were absolutely spot-on. From the first phone call onwards, Ken is very responsive and takes the time to listen and answer questions. After walking through with him at the home inspection, to the detailed report after inspecting our house, we felt very confident about buying our first home. Ken gave pointers a long the way about how to do potential repairs. The home inspection report was excellent (great layout of the detail and respective pictures of the possible home repairs). The report helped us define which repairs to prioritize and to most importantly know that we were making a good decision to buy the home. As well, we were impressed that all of his gear was the latest and greatest (my husband noticed that as he is a geek for gadgets/tools). I am a worrier about things like radon testing and Ken provides an active radon test with a data printout and explanation of the results for peace of mind. We are purchasing a condo in Corvallis and relied on Greater Purpose Home Inspection as we live in San Diego. Ken did a very thorough inspection, including recommendations and color photos. We bought our first home in Albany, OR in July of 2016. Our realtor recommended Ken Wells to do our home inspection before we purchased our new home. Ken is a very nice person; we enjoyed interacting with him--not to mention, he endured 10+ hours of nagging from the seller regarding the condition of the house (commendable--we left early!). He is clearly dedicated to providing home-buyers with the most accurate information possible. We felt that he genuinely wanted us to be confident in our purchase. We were surprised to receive an EXTREMELY detailed, 50-page report on ALL aspects of the house within 48 hours (including pictures, diagrams, and explanations). He was also forthcoming when he felt he couldn't give us an accurate representation (e.g. He couldn't access a certain area of the house due to seller's clutter). After the first inspection, we negotiated repairs with the seller based on Ken's report. We then asked Ken to re-inspect before closing, and he provided us with another detailed report of his findings. So here I am Ken :-) I am a first time home buyer with minimum knowledge about house problems, and I am buying a home that is more than 30 years old. Using Ken for our home inspection saved our bacon. He inspected homes we ended up NOT buying (thank heavens). Ken did a truly through inspection and found termites in the foundation and an old contaminated oil tank that could have cost us BIG time. Another inspector had done a inspection that noted he flashed a flash light in the difficult to access crawl space and saw no damage. Ken actually crawled ALL over in the narrow craw space (no easy task) and identified that there was significant, active termites damage. His very through inspections SAVED us from accidentally buying a money pit. Ken also inspected the house we did end up buying. There were no major problems with that house and we appreciated that Ken's inspection report helped us better understand the mechanics of our new home, prioritize maintenance and generally put us on a path to take good care of our very significant investment.
