As a Black woman, I was subjected to treatment that exemplifies the medical disparities POC face daily in healthcare settings. On my first visit to discuss the removal of skin tags and to have PA Lehr examine my ruptured cyst, his behavior immediately made me uncomfortable. He greeted me with an exaggerated, stereotypical handshake that felt forced and inappropriate--something I guarantee he doesn't do with his white patients in Edmonds. During this visit, he prescribed a powerful antibiotic for my ruptured cyst without mentioning it needed to be taken with food. This potentially dangerous oversight was only caught by my pharmacist, not the doctor who prescribed it. When I returned for my second visit to have the skin tags removed, PA Lehr greeted me with the same uncomfortable handshake. When I asked if the procedure would hurt, his dismissive response that "it's not going to hurt him" was both condescending and unprofessional. I had to specifically ask about aftercare instructions myself--information that should be provided automatically. For my third visit to address the now-calmed cyst, PA Lehr once again greeted me with the same inappropriate handshake. I couldn't help but think: would a 50-year-old white woman, man or non-binary person be treated this way? Absolutely not. During the procedure, he provided minimal explanation and zero aftercare guidance. Only the support staff stepped in to give me the proper information I needed. The support staff was competent, but they can't compensate for a doctor who treats patients differently based on how they look. This is medical racism, plain and simple--not jokes, not lightheartedness, but the exact kind of differential treatment that research consistently shows undermines care for communities of color. I'm giving two stars solely because: 1) The procedures were technically completed and 2) The support staff provided information the PA should have given. I will never return to this practice and strongly advise against it for anyone--ESPECIALLY people of color who deserve healthcare providers who see and respect them as human beings deserving equal care and dignity.

I'm not sure if she was being particularly rude to me because she could tell I was uncomfortable from her not wearing a mask/her sign or if she treats every customer this way. I've never been spoken to the way she did by a 'professional' in the beauty/health/wellness industry. It was as if she was mad at ME for being there! I thought maybe I had booked the wrong thing online, so a minute into her brash line of questioning I apologized and said, "oh I'm sorry I thought I booked a consultation," she responded in a condescending tone saying, "I know-this is me consulting you." Update: PUR just keeps getting better and better.. I have now received multiple laser hair removal treatments which I LOVE and recently had fractionated laser treatment on my face. I am already seeing such a difference and am excited to continue with the treatments for maximum results. My skin texture is smoother and I have noticed some of the dark discolorations are lifting. From facials to laser treatments to Botox, the providers at Pur Skin Clinic in Edmonds are the best in the business! I have had facials, peels, laser hair reduction and IPL with Master Esthetician Carly and she is amazing! She does such a great job at explaining the treatment and making me feel comfortable. Also, I got a phone call after my laser treatments, to check in and make sure that I was doing well and to answer any questions. I felt so taken care of and will continue to see Carly for future treatments. As for Botox, you cannot go wrong with either of the Physician Assistants at Pur. Both Denice and Jill have such an incredible eye and take time to make sure everything looks perfect. I have searching for someone to get lip filler from for a couple years now and once I found Jill and Pur Skin Clinic I knew I had found the place! The clinic is absolutely amazing and every one you come in contact with inside their front door is so kind and always so helpful. Even with Covid-19 going on they made me feel safe and like I was in good hands. They were even nice enough to take me in after I was 10 mins late to my appointment. I have never had any services done yet at this clinic. I applied for a position they advertised and the instant I walked in, I was greeted with aroma's that set you at ease. I found this place through a Groupon. I've had two chemical peels done with great results. I've tried microdermabrasion before and think that the chemical peels actually had a better effect on my skin. I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with Dr. James Song at Frontier Dermatology was…read moreserious enough that I feel obligated to share it so other patients can make informed decisions. My husband underwent an outpatient cyst removal procedure with Dr. Song on May 19, 2026. We were told the procedure went as planned and were given standard aftercare instructions, including avoiding showers and exercise for 24 hours and applying Vaseline afterward. The following day, less than 24 hours after the procedure, my husband began bleeding heavily through layers of gauze, bandages, and eventually his clothing. We contacted Frontier Dermatology and were instructed to have him lie down and apply pressure. We followed those instructions exactly, but the bleeding continued and worsened. When we called the after-hours physician, we repeatedly sought guidance about whether we should go to the ER. Despite explaining the situation in detail, we were unable to get a clear answer. We were told we would "probably end up at the ER" but were also told that no one could definitively recommend that course of action without seeing him. We first went to urgent care, where the physician was uncomfortable treating the wounds because of their depth and complexity. After attempts to stop the bleeding failed, we were sent directly to the emergency room. At the ER, the physician treated the wounds with silver nitrate to stop the bleeding after hours of unsuccessful attempts elsewhere. We did not return home until approximately 1:00 a.m. The next day, I filed a formal complaint with Frontier Dermatology regarding both the procedure and the lack of adequate after-hours support. During that conversation, I learned my husband had no follow-up appointment scheduled for two months. Shortly afterward, Dr. Song personally called my husband and defended the treatment decisions that had been made. Because we were concerned by everything that had happened, my husband sought a second opinion from another dermatologist. That dermatologist informed him that the wounds were infected and required antibiotics and additional treatment. We were also told that corrective care would now be necessary to reduce the likelihood of significant scarring. During follow-up communication, we learned that no pathology report had been performed on the tissue removed during the procedure. What should have been a routine outpatient procedure resulted in severe bleeding, an urgent care visit, an ER visit, an infection, additional medical treatment, missed time, stress, and ongoing concerns about long-term scarring. We understand that complications can happen in medicine. What troubled us most was the combination of the outcome itself, the difficulty obtaining clear guidance when things went wrong, and the need to seek care elsewhere to address the resulting complications. I hope sharing our experience helps other patients ask questions, seek second opinions when necessary, and make informed decisions about their care.

I first went to her for the wrinkles that were forming in my forehead and she took care of them. I told her how much I really wanted lip fillers so she did a little Botox around my upper lip so I could see what it would look like. I loved it so I took the leap for lips fillers and could not be more happy. I sat and talked to her about my lock jaw and she evaluated it and we did some Botox there too later and I could be more happy. I am ready to do it again. After she originally did the Botox in my jaw I had no more popping of my jaw or pain. I didn't know my mouth could open so big without being painful.
